4/19/25 Ate List: The Ron Swanson - 8.2 The concept alone had me VERY intrigued - a cornbread pancake?!? Sold. Stuffed with Ham & Bacon. Topped with two eggs. This dish is meant for those brave enough to try it. And if the flavors sound appetizing then you will certainly be rewarded. I say this is for the brave because this dish feels HEAVY. Visiting for the weekend for homecoming and tried out this diner right in the middle of town. The location is so convenient right in the heart of the Edinboro business district. The space is larger than it looks from outside with multiple rooms for sitting. The employees were all very friendly and welcoming. We had the original smash and an omelette with flip potatoes. The only complaint would be that neither of our shredded potatoes seemed to be cooked long enough and they did not have a lot of flavor. It could've been just because of the homecoming crowd so we were completely fine. The service is on point though, which always makes little things forgettable and wanting us to come back next time we are in town! read more

Creatively traditional breakfast and lunch. We make an annual pilgrimage to this place. We are always warmly greeted, even though we average 10-20 people in our group. Specials are handwritten on white boards at strategic spots around the restaurant, in addition to printed menus. Spoiler alert: portions are huge and prices are reasonable. The food combinations are focused around favorites but prepared differently. The homemade donuts(beignets?) are fabulous! I always have a difficult time photographing because our crew starts eating as soon as served. The restaurant has comedic sayings around the rooms which are very "punny." WOW, BRAVO, is the best way I can explain Flip Cafe! This is not your average greasy spoon, although their huge menu certainly can accommodate that vibe if that's what you're after. Expect to be delightfully overwhelmed by their extensive breakfast and lunch menu. All of the standards are there and then lots more. Everything is exceptionally done and the portions are very large. The flip cinnamon cakes are a must - be sure to get a side order before your meal or make that your toast options. You won't be disappointed. They are perfect dough pillows lightly flavored and dusted in powdered sugar. I've never tasted anything like them! We tried the crab cakes, spinach and eggs with thick cut wheat toast and the home fries - huge red potatoes that are fluffy inside and oh so perfectly crispy on the outside. It was incredible! We also tried the other potato option, hash browns, that are a huge portion of perfectly cooked shreds mixed with sour cream and scallions. The flavor is out of this world! The chorizo hash also was a crowd pleaser. A huge plate of a flavorful mix of veggies, eggs, cheese, and meat, scrambled and seared up together with a giant slices of homemade toast. If you're a coffee drinker you won't be disappointed with their locally roasted beans. Everything is a cut above the rest here, including the service. The vibe is low key, funky, and intimate. On weekends this may mean a bit of a wait but rest assured the staff is extremely efficient, attentive, and professional and the meal and experience is well worth any wait! read more

There's nothing not to love about this place. Great food, great people, great atmosphere. Even the cat wallpaper in the restrooms! Second time we've been here visiting my sister in Edinboro. Extraordinary menu includes their signature flips (not pictured but so yum) and daily specials are on the boards inside. Love that they're so attentive with coffee refills and super friendly. I would not be opposed to adding some cold brew to the menu, I think they could get really creative with favors, cold foam etc! I'd suggest arriving as early as your party is willing to, as there's typically a wait for larger groups when they're busy :) read more

I was completely astounded by Flips menu. They had so much to choose from and being from out of town I didn't want to miss out on anything. I have family in Edinboro and now every time I come up I will be asking to go to Flip. We went on a Monday so I was upset that we couldn't return on Tuesday for more! Places that serve breakfast all day always are great and Flip Cafe has you covered. I went with the chocolate chip pancakes and a side of eggs. I could barely get two pancakes down with the eggs, it was so much to eat and super tasty. I do wish my order of milk didn't come out in a tiny mug! At the table we had bacon cream cheese French toast which was incredible. A side of the flip potatoes was a must since it's the name of the restaurant and they didn't disappoint. Paired alongside another traditional breakfast the table was full and there were only 3 of us! Flip Cafe is a great spot and your number 1 breakfast or lunch spot in downtown Edinboro. Wonderful "Mom and Pop" establishment....Never had a bad meal...I can only speak for the breakfast fare...but have to assume the lunch items are also wonderful...It is a must stop for me anytime I head to Erie, Pa...staff is always friendly...generous portions (I always need a doggie bag)...They use a lot of local food items...You can get typical breakfast fare and items not so traditional...the Reuben omelet is Killer...The Home fries are awesome...need i say more...It's worth the trip... read more

So the hours are listed incorrectly on YELP. They are open daily 6:30AM-3:00PM. No evening hours generally. Our son goes to Edinboro University and raves about the food so we finally had a chance to eat here. The place is super popular. We waited 20 minutes for a table for 4 at 11:30am on a Sunday. The service was hopping. The menu is incredibly varied with a great range of breakfast foods, lunch options and vegetarian options. They even have Ramen Bowls. My son loves their beef tenderloin flips sandwich. My teenage son ordered their plate size pancakes filled with bananas. I had the Chorizo Smash with eggs and cinnamon flips (donuts) on the side. My husband had a veggie smash. So much to choose from. read more

Don't show up around closing and I mean within an hour and 15 minutes before they close and expect courteous treatment. Our server was behaving rudely towards us so I asked to speak to the manager. He said that WE were the ones who were being rude to her! All I said was if there wasn't a table for us (a party of 8) we would go somewhere else. Not rude-informational. Also, she kept asking if she could seat us at separate tables. I said no, this is a birthday celebration and we don't want to be separated, we are willing to wait for a big table to open up. Which it did by the time our whole party had arrived. To be clear, I had stopped in earlier to make sure they would be able to handle a table of 8 at that time and the girl will the multi colored hair said they could handle that fine and I informed our waitress of this as well. At no time was I rude. Normally, I wouldn't have asked to see a manager because sometimes I am sensitive to these things but when my sister, my super nice mother AND my easy going husband both remarked that our waitress was acting rudely towards us I decided to speak up. Not only, was the manager not helpful he told me I was the one who was being rude! WOW! After this, our waitress confronted me about calling her rude and asked me if I wanted to talk to her about it! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? That's your manager's job, not mine! And if the manager isn't up to the task then he needs to lose his job and the owner needs to step in! I have been a fan of Flip since they opened but if this is the new way we'll be treated when we eat here I won't be back. love the food at Flip's but this isn't one of those novelty restaurants that you go to to be treated rudely for fun! The best restaurant in Edinboro. They really try to help people that are gluten free. Everyone is so helpful. They make great sandwiches with gluten free bread. I've heart that there deserts are fabulous. They make homemade pies and cupcakes. They don't make gf deserts. I can't recommend The Flip enough.
