We have been there before; he never says hello or thank you and walks away from you while you are trying to speak to him. He speaks English when it's convenient for him. Compadres- Edinboro. Edinboro Mall. Arrived at 5:45 pm Sat at 5:45:01 pm Chips served - warm in another .025 seconds. The salsa was complex and tasty - but a bit more spicy than medium. We both enjoyed the heck out of it. But a tad spicy for my partner. $15.00 for the three burritos (one chicken one cheese one beef) beans, rice... I only scarfed down the beef one thus far and am uncomfortably full in the passenger seat after 1 burrito. Too many chips. And 1 tall 1 small Modello. Ladies and gents that red sauce was so incredibly good this evening. The queso? And tomatillo sauces were both also made by some form of angel in the kitchen. Updated menu - I've eaten here 30+ times. Whom ever wandered into the kitchen to whip up those sauces is either new or recently canonized. Could not ask for better service - literally 10/10. Went to compadres for a late birthday dinner, ive been there before and so instead of getting a usual thing i got the chimichangas with rice and beans, and as usual it was great. Came out super hot, the appetizer even almost burned my tongue (my fault). The service was also good and they were nice and got our food out quick, And ambiance is like your typical mexican resturant usually in my area, and i love it. Overall awesome visit. read more

The food came out fast considering that I was con a class trip with over 100 people! I was disappointed though that the "Mexican street corn" was canned corned topped with the normal topping, even though the menu said that it was street corn. I ordered it being a meal and I doubt it could feed anyone (it was also listed under the meal section). Other than that the environment inside was very nice and had a wonderful view outside. They now have their liquor licence!!! They were having happy hour from 7-9. Had a mango margarita, wasn't bad. Although, they put sugar on my rim, so I guess if you want salt, make sure to ask. It was $4.99 on special for the large one...it was decently strong too! I also wanted to add that for the Edinboro location, the hours they list on their website are incorrect. Just went there last night at 8:30 thinking they were open till 10 like their website says, only to be hurried out by 9. The sign on their door does say they close at 9 every night. Website says they close at 10pm on weeknights, 11pm Friday and Saturday, and 9pm on Sunday. Perhaps they will now extend their hours now that they are serving drinks? read more

used to get take out from this restaurant until consecutive meals were salted beyond my tolerance - I advised mgt. but to no resolve. After 5 year hiatus, we decided to give them another try. 1st time was actually pretty good, 2nd time, again with the over salting. Again advised management with no response for a week. Compadres is not (and does not claim to be) an authentic Mexican restaurant, so my expectations were already pretty low, but the meals we ordered were still remarkably bland. I used to go to compadres every week for Taco Tuesday/Thursday during my first two years in college. Then they raised the price significantly & made the deal strictly beef (I avoid meat and I always got the bean tacos). The rest of their food is really pricey too. Wow. I'm happy I found this place tucked into a corner in NW Pennsylvania. I haven't found a lot of taco trucks in the area and was happy to find this place on a recent visit to Edinboro--(thanks yelp!) The lunch combo was $7.59 and I got a really excellent chile relleno, roasted with mole sauce and a chalupa with far more meat than I am accustomed to. This was served with the usual rice and beans and a delicious dollop of guacamole. Hey, I know it's pretty standard fare, but I loved it. Waitstaff was awesome. My lunch partner had a tamale with shredded beef inside-- yum. The place was fairly empty at 12:30, was fairly quiet, clean, well priced with a fantastic waitress. I will be back! read more

I visited this place once as a hangover fix, and I have to say I was impressed for such a place tucked away in edinboro. If I want to eat out somewhere where I know that I will get served really quickly, I always choose Compadres. I don't know how they do it, but the food comes out super fast. I love the enchiladas. Taco Tuesday/Thursday is a blast, always lots of people there. I never end up getting tacos, but I just can't resist my regular dinner there. The tacos are good too. The dessert is great as well, I got the Sopapilla a few times. It is HUGE. Enough to last a week. Prices are reasonable. I hope they get their liquor license soon, too. read more

We were in town from buffalo for my Husbands birthday and found this place while we were driving around and wanted to try it.. Lucky for us it was taco tuesday!! 3 tacos for $3 and huge yummy margaritas for $4. The service was awesome everyone was very friendly and they were very attentive. The food came out very quickly and was very tasty. He ordered 3 beef I ordered 3 chicken with beans and a side of rice. It was my husbands birthday dinner so i sneaked away and asked if they sang and they said and offered free dessert or a shot of tequila..my husband loves tequila so i opted for that. Compadres in Edinboro is awesome. We go there every week for Taco Tuesday or Taco Thursday. There is so much stuff inside your tacos that when the tacos are done you have a nice little salad left over! I'm not sure what they do to their taco meat, but I think its the best around. What the heck has happened to Compadres? Visited there about a half dozen times and the food was good for faux Mexican, but last night it was terrible. First thing I noticed was the lackluster taste of the salsa. In addition they used to have a hot salsa alternative, but according to the server they do not offer that anymore. Okay, I can live with that, but what about the tasteless chips? Like eating crunchy cardboard. Dinner arrived which was an ample serving, but no guacamole! Then the meal went down hill from there. My Fajita dinner consisted of dried pieces of steak(translates to leftovers), chorizo mush, shrimp was okay. The wait staff was friendly with the exception of the mustached gentleman, but he's always that way. Anyway, that's my review - we'll never go back. Prices are ridiculously high. I respectfully disagree--i think this place is fantastic! Every time I've visited Compadres, the food comes out SO quickly, is piping hot, and I think it's delicious. They're a great place for lunch, and the food is sooooo cheap, whether it's for lunch or dinner. They also do a great job with takeout, packaging things carefully and individually, and including their chips and (delicious) salsa with the order, free of charge. I can't speak to the meat dishes, but their cheese enchilada, and mushroom enchilada are THE BEST--I actually crave their enchilada sauce! Amazing guac, and great flan, too! The free chips and salsa were great, right when you sit down. Salsa is delicious but it goes down hill from there, food comes out at average speed. But it is not worth the wait, has no flavor. I am originally from Cleveland and come here to edinboro from college. Whenever I was back home when I was younger my friends and I would always go to a Mexican restaurant in our home town. My friends could speek fluent Spanish and would always order in Spanish. I don't know Spanish so I would order in English and just sound like a goober. This place reminds me a lot of that place. The food is amazing, but where this place really stands out is the service. The service is always so friendly. I went here once with my boyfriend sort of late at night, and we were unaware they were closing early that day. When we turned around to leave, one of the servers (I believe she might be a manager or owner?) told us that they wouldn't mind staying open a little while longer so we could have our date night. That was unbelievable, she could have easily turned us away and it would have been understandable because they were closing. We left her a really generous tip and thanked her profusely. I haven't finished my meal and I'm excited to "Yelp" already. Loved the large fresh salad with satéd mushrooms. They have non-alcoholic Sangria!! Unheard of in this area. Food and service are always fine, however, as soon as I saw that there was a new menu, I knew that it meant a price increase. Unfortunately, most of the menu seemed to increase in cost by approximately 25%. I have always enjoyed Compares, however it is certainly not a $20 a meal sort of place. I don't care what you put in it, a burrito with no sides is not worth $15. Definitely will greatly reduce or eliminate future visits. read more
