We were told pick up would be 1 1/ 2 hour at first then someone else said half hour then the last person said a hour. When we got our food it was ice cold! Had ordered gluten free because of celiac however they were all together. Will Be a long time if we ever go back. read more

Usually our experience at Barra is top notch but tonight was disappointing. I ordered the steak salad with no cheese, it was served to me with a mound of cheese. The waitress was very apologetic and brought me back another salad but it literally looked like half of the original salad. My chili was cold and my friends street corn was also cold. I would have been more understanding if they had been busy but the waitress also said this was their slowest night this week because of the rain. The service was wonderful but the food was well below their normal standards. read more

First time at Barra and I must say I am IN LOVE!! The tacos were great but the street corn stole the show!! Absolutely delicious and is a must! I will be returning to try more items in the menu and to get more street corn LOL! read more

Barra - Buffalo chicken taco, shredded chicken taco, street corn - Mexican Near Me - Sandusky, Ohio

The food is amazing. I had a charizo and potato taco, it lived up to the hype, so good. The only compliant I have is the service wasn't all that. The taste of the food compensated though! read more

Honestly the best food you can ask for in Northern Ohio. Great flavors, fresh ingredients and very nice staff. The food rivals the major restaurants in Cleveland and dare I say upstages them. In a city full of chain restaurants Barra stands out as one of the best dining experiences, if not the best in Sandusky. Please support this business as you will get the best meal possible in Sandusky. read more

THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL. Our tacos were on point. Appropriate amount of heat. Street corn was AMAZING. Drinks were creative, fresh and tasteful. Service was awesome (thank you Addy!!)! So happy we stopped here on our way through! Definitely coming back! read more

5 stars for breaking all the rules for tacos.....not in a good way. Making the flour tortillas into saltine crackers, making the steak taste like a pina colada, doubling the taco bell seasoning in the ground beef and putting corn salsa on everything. For a decent meal order a pile of plain carnitas and a margarita (hold the chunks of rancid fruit). read more

Super cute place with all sorts of non typical tacos, don't get me wrong you can get the normal caritas and chicken. We shared the queso and chips which was pretty good, however the chips were mostly all broken like we got the bottom of the bag. I tried the corn fritters which were really tasty and the BLT taco, since it was recommended. I've tried it and I think I would get something else the next time. I'll be back and try something else. Ps super clean and cute restrooms! read more

Love the street corn it's my all time favorite thing there and the hibachi taco was amazing great service

Excellent tacos at Barra in downtown Sandusky, and some of the best fish (perch) tacos I've ever had - and that's saying a lot for me. I'm a tough fish taco critic. We were in town visiting friends who highly recommended this place, and it didn't disappoint. We got the queso blanco and fresh guacamole to start. Extremely fresh and full of flavor. They don't have a kids menu but they do offer cheese, and chicken quesadillas, and chicken tenders, which my daughter ordered and were delicious. Fresh, hand battered white chicken meat with yummy flavor. We will definitely return next time we are in town! read more

Market fish tacos and Walleye were exceptional! And the cornbread with jalapeño butter was absolutely delicious. Glad we found somewhere reasonably priced, hipster, with delicious food while I was visiting from Out of town! Enjoyed some chips and queso, too. Very good!! read more

Tasty tacos and cold beer! Went in on a whim with my wife, seated immediately. Ambiance was casual, decor is based around the old building, natural wood and pleasant colors. Had salsa, queso dip w/ chorizo, chips and tacos. All were excellent! It was winter so beware if you're sitting near the door, it can be chilly! read more

Hands down, one of our absolute favorite restaurants of all time. Having lived in Texas for many years, we used to eat Tex Mex at least twice a week. When we moved back home, we found the Mexican restaurants to be lacking at best and in our personal opinion, all of them are sub par. Then came Barra. While not a typical Mexican restaurant, it more than satisfies our need for an Mexican flavor. And boy does Barra have flavor. I think that is one of the things we love most about their food. Each and every bite is packed with an explosion of flavor. The corn chowder has a perfect amount of heat. The queso is so much more than the melted cheese most places around here try to pass off as queso. It packs a bit of heat and even comes with add on's that make it even more amazing. We've fallen in love with their own brew, LaBarrachacho, crafted by the Catawba Island Brewing Company goes perfect with the rest of the menu. The service has been excellent and we've always been greeted by a friendly face. Consistency is key with Barra and is yet another reason why we eat there at least 2-3 times per month. If it's not obvious enough, we love this place and highly recommend a visit. read more

Sandusky needs a taco joint but I'm comparing Barra after I just left Spanish Harlem where I had very good Spanish food.As expected the decor is outstanding and food was very good. The drink selection was on point and crowd was very live.I will re rate as I go back but Barra is much needed in Sandusky as downtown starts the gentrification process...Go and you will enjoy read more

This is a pretty new restaurant, so I'm cautiously optimistic that things will only go up from here and I'll be able to revise my review to four stars. First off, the food is definitely good and most likely worthy of four stars. The full menu was not available, but I was able to try the guacamole, traditional salsa, pico de gallo, and queso as appetizers. These dips were served with tasty tortilla chips. My only gripe is with the guacamole; it's defined not that because all you get is unseasoned, smashed avocado. While the description does describe it as such (it's meant to be ordered with available mix ins), what if someone wants a simple guacamole? I definitely recommend the restaurant offers a basic guacamole with salt, pepper, lime juice, and maybe a touch of garlic. For my entree I had tacos, one with grilled garlic shrimp and one with chorizo + potato. So good! And at only $4 each, these were very substantial. They were served on flour tortillas and I'm not entirely sure if there is a corn tortilla option. Perhaps that's will come when the restaurant is more well established. Then why the three stars? Service is very very slow and a tad unforgetful. Our server forgot our first round of drinks and we had to remind her. Courses took too long to arrive--perhaps the kitchen is figuring stuff out still? It would've been nice if our server had communicated that to us. Overall, a pleasant spot that is quite different from the other, heavier fare available at Sandusky. Prepare to wait a while for food to arrive as it appears the restaurant is still figuring stuff out. read more

Second time I've been here and the food is outstanding! 10/10 would recommend everyone needs to experience this great restaurant

I visited this establishment because of all the great reviews I had read. Sadly none of these led up to the expectations. I paid nearly $14 PER bowl that contained three small pieces of steak, shredded cheese that tasted no better than the kind at the grocery store, and A LOT of flavorless rice. The food was terrible, especially for the price. Not to mention the lack of service we had as well. I would not recommend this place and I do not plan on ever returning. Save your money and go elsewhere where the service and food quality are better. read more

I have heartburn giving them 1 star. The food was okay. Was supposed to be hot. Tasted like it just came out of the fridge. They don't serve any chips and salsa till you get your meal. Going there this evening it was so busy so service was soooooo slow. We finally received our drinks then cane dinner. This was the worst part of the visit. The waitress served our food. But, when she was setting my dinner down she hit the straw of my glass That caused the drink to spill all over me and the table. The waitress came back to our table and handed me a rag. She then said "here's a rag for you to clean up the table". I would NEVER go there again. Yp V What a waste of my money and time. read more

The tacos were very filling and full of flavor. My favorite was the firecracker shrimp and the steak with pico de gallo, cotija cheese, and avocado. Great service. Waitresses were very friendly. Ordered take out. Service was quick and easy. Will return when in the area. The upstairs bar, Arriba, has a great atmosphere. The drinks are delicious and the bartenders/servers are very friendly and accommodating. Currently you can only order take out from the restaurant in the bar area. They serve snacks, however, you can bring your take out order upstairs Thank you! read more

We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who informed us that our waitress had tables outside so she was helping out. We placed an appetizer order and received it promptly. The salsas were good, queso was not good at all. The waitress asked if we wanted to order food. We said yes, but she didn't return for quite some time. When she finally came back we reminded her that we wanted to order. We each ordered one taco. After 40 minutes still no food. We left read more

In as small of town as Sandusky, this place really stands out as having great tacos! It seems like all of Sandusky comes out on Saturday night to eat here, but our group wait for an hour before we got seated. We got the salsa sampler and queso to start and we're NOT disappointed - if I'd have remembered my lactaid I probably would have put the queso in a cup and drank it. When we ran out of chips they actually refilled us so we could finish our dips! I got a grilled shrimp taco and grilled chicken taco and the grilled shrimp taco was stellar!! Def worth a trip if you're in town. read more

Best Food In Sandusky! Best food in Sandusky! The tacos are amazing, especially the BLP. Everything is made fresh. Try the Queso or Pico De Gallo to start. The street corn is a great side item. The Hangover Easy Bowl for Sunday Brunch is amazing!!! read more

Friendly staff, mediocre food. This place has really lost its way over the last 2 years, or so.

This place was amazing! I ended up getting a taco BLP and the flavors worked so well together! Bacon was thick cut crispy but still soft if that makes sense. My husband ordered the shrimp tacos and he loved it! Tons of flavor did not even need any sauce on it! The bathrooms were clean and so nicely done. Staff friendly and a great vibe! I would recommend this to anyone that wants a flavorful meal! read more

The Best Tacos I've had in quite some time. The interior decorating is very sleek and modern, which consequently makes the restaurant kind of loud, but all of the chairs are surprisingly comfortable which makes up for it in my opinion. Great guacamole, great value, great service. read more

What a pleasant surprise. Wasn't sure what to expect. The service was good and the food was fantastic. And the service was quick. I enjoyed the rice bowl! visited hear over labor day weekend. i was so happy to find a place open on Labor Day! Great tacos! I also got the slaw, corn bread and fingerlings as sides (don't worry it wasn't just for me.) The only thing that was meh was the slaw everything else was delicious. I loved the modern and trendy vibe of the place and the service was great! read more

For a place that has potential of being one of my favorite restaurants, it's my least. For starters, the food is very inconsistent, you can order the same thing 10 times and each time it's different. Also, with that being said, it's typically cold. The glasses are always dirty, even the replacement glasses, when requested, are dirty. But to top it all off, the owner is so completely arrogant. No smiles, no "thank you", no even checking back when he's serving. The only plus about this place is the servers are typically friendly and decent. I want to love Barra but I leave so dissatisfied every time. Sorry not sorry. read more
