So many options, so few days. Prior reviews of this place sold us, and we went in search of Stephen (Etienne) for a terrific final dinner in Paris before returning home. Location is terrific, and will be even better when the street construction concludes. We called for reservations to be sure we got in. Seated by the front window, we were given English menus, but that wouldn't matter because Stephen served us, patiently answered all our questions, and then commenced recommending things based on our answers to his general questions. He also made a solid, but sensible wine recommendation. Zucchini soup, lamb shoulder for me and an upside-down chicken and mashed potato dish for her, followed by a pastry to share. I can't forget the fresh French bread that Stephen cut for us from the larger loaf that I imagine was picked up from the local boulangerie earlier that day. Nice small cafe with delicious french onion soup, red Rosemary potatoes, and a killer tiramisu. We're American and they handed us a menu in English after watching my husband stare at his french one for a minute with a worried look :-) I took one star away because the steak we got was a little tough and under seasoned. But after a week in Paris, I've found most the beef to be this exact way. I don't think it's something they have mastered like American chefs. Think they focus on more fowl and gamier type meat. I was pleasantly surprised by this place for a few reasons. Firstly it's very close to an extremely touristy street so the restaurant options around here are slim pickings. While trying to find a place in this area a Burger King came up before this place...so ya not a lot of options. We got the black burger and the croque monsieur. Our food came out insanely fast so I thought again, this is going to be bad. Much to my surprise the burger was amazing. There was a tomato sauce on it, caramelized onions, tomato and a really nice cheese. The burger was cooked perfectly- I asked for medium and got what I asked for. And the side of garlic potatoes was nice too. The croque monsieur was surprisingly very good too! It had the usual ham and cheese but they added some nutmeg which made it kind of sweet tasting. Overall very good food here! Service is okay because they're pretty busy. They have menus available in English and French. Also this place is kid friendly. read more

This place was delicious and service was really good. I ordered the French onion soup and the sea bass and it was the best French Onion soup I've ever had. The sea bass was crispy on the outside and tender in the middle, served on a bed of butternut squash. The dish tasted like Autumn and it was excellent. Solid food don't let the close proximity to the Champs Elysees deter you. Fresh well prepared food and very reasonable prices not the overpriced touristy places one block over on the Champs. They are open late till 12 am so not many places serving after shopping. Came in with the kids 12 and 14, so got the cold shoulder initially but the staff warmed up quickly once the girls showed that they knew proper etiquette when out at a bar at 11 pm. Yes we are those kind of parents. Had the duck pie, a crusted terrine, which was excellent. The chicken with morels over risotto was nearly identical to the one served at La Fountaine de Mars and half the price. The rib steak was perfectly prepared and the warmed goat cheese salad. They prepare a proper Compari and have a reasonable wine list. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Wow!! We were immediately greeted and seated by the windows. Our waiter (Steven) was out of this world! My husband tried ordering a beer and the waiter said "no, I have a beer you're going to love." He was right! From there the experience was exactly what we were looking for. We told him what we were in the mood for and he was terrific in guiding us. He gave a wonderful red wine, the Spanish ham is outstanding, the Escargot is the best I've had (in mushroom caps that aren't overdone), and the sandwiches are terrific (we had a caprese type sandwich with chicken). We ordered 2 desserts - 1 was out of these was the best we had the entire trip (it was a cream filled flaky pastry with raspberries - wow!!!!) and the other was just ok (the crepes with ice cream). To be fair Steven didn't recommend the crepes but did recommend the raspberry dessert which I will dream of for years to come. My overall feeling - GO and enjoy!!!! I'd recommend it when it's a bit quieter in the afternoon so they can really spend time understanding what you're looking for! read more

This was a super cute and lowkey. Before we even got our menus, the service and atmosphere were impeccable. Had a soup appetizer and it was GOOD. Both of our entrees were super delicious. This place was off the beaten path,but close to our hotel. the food was wonderful, one of the best meals I've had in Paris. The staff was nice and attentive( not to be ignorant they spoke english, which wasnt neccessary, but nice). I had the braised beef chuck, the meat was so tender, the sauce was delicious, and I normally dont like mushrooms but I ate every one of them. Disappointed right from the beginning when my friend, a restaurant owner, wanted to order a specific wine and our waiter suggested for us to get a different year bottle. We didn't ask for wine suggestions in the first place. The sliced ham appetizer looked and tasted not so fresh. The foie gras appetizer was good. However, my 'fresh scallops' dish was just ordinary scallops wrapped in bacon that was barely grilled and bland on a salad bowl style. For the price of their menu items, the food is just ok. Amazing time at Baroche. Unfortunately, I think the scaffolding on the building turned off a lot of the people passing, wasn't too packed. But that made it better. A small place, but the staff and venue were fantastic. Sat at the bar and had a Mojito and Moscow Mule (cocktails were €11) to start-- both fantastic. Highly recommend the Mojito, it was one of the best I've had. Sat down at dinner and was able to enjoy the World Cup game, a nice breeze and delicious food. I had the Beef Chuck (€23), which was fantastic. Served on a bed of sautéed mushrooms. Also, the bread was outstanding. Could not thank the wait staff enough for an enjoyable experience! Went there yesterday for lunch. My friends had French onion soup and I had scallop and bacon risotto. Their French onion soup is the best one I have ever had comparing to the ones I had in Canada. Great service. They provided English menu. Tourist friendly. The food was served really fast. This place was a disappointment. It's our first meal in Paris after landed. The steak was no seasoning to it. The French onion soup has no flavor. The bread was burnt. The beef carpaccio was really good, topped with arugula and shaved parm, served with a side of delicious roasted potatoes. This was a top notch meal with a decent price. My parents was in Paris last year and recommended this restaurant. We had the duck foi grois - my boyfriend had the rib steak and I had the lamb shoulder. We also ended off with the creme brûlée. It is a great tourist spot - people are very friendly and they have English speakers with English menus. It was really cozy and super delicious - the creme Brûlée was huge and delicious and my boyfriend and I shared one. Highly recommended and it is the best way to start our Paris trip. read more

Worst waiter. He made mistakes on our drink orders--we let it go, didn't make any fuss of it. Then when he sees me getting his attention after finishing my meal, he speeds away and retrieves our check before I can even say anything to him. I had specific instructions that I needed to provide for the check and asked him to make corrections. Before I can even speak though, he assumes I am trying to cheat money and claims the final amount is all correct...which was not the concern I was trying to raise so I am already annoyed because now he is accusing me of trying to get out of paying, which is horrible service. I finally get to say what I need (2 separate checks to separate alcohol) and he denies my request because it is "too late" because he closed the check. Except through the whole time I have been explaining, he was punching away at register/cashier finalizing everything, behaviorally dismissing everything I say and rushedly telling me to sign. Then he continues to blame me (i.e., "sorry but you...") for not having made it clear from the start (I never verbalized or even indicated I wanted a check, just waved him down for attention) and says I should have grabbed him by the wrist, arm, clothes, etc. as he mimes grabbing himself. The manager seemed to try to do some damage control, which I appreciated, but it was insufficient to undo the damage that is the assholery of this waitstaff. read more

We went here on 2 occasions during our stay in Paris. We found it to be a welcoming, accommodating place with reasonable prices, good wine, creative bistro menu - very well prepared food. The restaurant is small so you may want to arrive early if you do not have a reservation. The menu is sophisticated and not the best for children unless they have adventurous palates. I had 2 dishes- the black burger and the duck breast. Both were wonderful. Well prepared and seasoned. My daughter had the chicken which was some of the most tender, wonderful bird I have ever tasted. I would go back again. It is a great choice in a neighborhood of expensive restaurants. read more

Food was delicious no doubt. Came here for a quick bite but turned out to be a very long dinner lol. Me and my fiance went to the arc de triumph and decided to do some shopping at champs elysees. So we got tired and looked up trusty yelp to find us a spot to eat. This place had the most reviews and the food looked delicious. We get there the first person at the bar was nice, she even asked us if we wanted an english menu. We sit down, a male waiter with glasses comes up and he's very helpful, even spoke english and explained the food options. We ordered the grilled octopus and french onion soup for starters followed by the lamb shoulder. Our drinks and starters come out quick and were eating the food. Both the grilled octopus and the french onion soup were very good, but the octopus def wins hands down between the two. So its about 30 min into the meal and were done. At this time we notice the staff changed, the lady who sat us is gone and so is our waiter. No we have a heavy set blonde women who is attending us. She never came to us to check how we were doing, like 3-4 people come in after us and get sat down. Time is passing, its almost and hour now and everyone of them got their food they ordered so my wife calls the women over and we tell her were done and wondering wheres our lamb shoulder. She goes to the back and doesn't say a word. More people come in and she is attending them. We call her back and ask her if our lamb shoulder has even been started. We had plans to go see some other attractions after lunch and this was eating(no pun intended) up our time. This is where she takes the cake! She tells us "You told me already!, we don't use a microwave to heat up our food here, you have to wait" wow that was insane. Very horrible customer service. After that I lost my appetite. It is a pity Because when the lamb shoulder finally came out and I tasted it and it was amazing. Smh. Will never go back here or recommend to anyone who travels to France and needs a break from shopping on the strip. Try the other spots around because there are plenty. read more
