Mendoza Masonry is the kind of contractor I only come across once in a couple years if I'm lucky. Ulisses is an outstanding professional. He is extremely pleasant to work with and does phenomenal work. You can immediately tell he takes great pride in his work. He naturally does things to perfection because it's just his nature. I have a beautiful Italian brick wall that needed to be cut to exact specifications for an intercom. It was a challenging job because there was no room for error and no do-overs if something went wrong. Ulisses and his guys took on the job like it was a walk in the park and nailed it perfectly. I will be the first to admit I am not easy to please and if something wasn't done perfectly it would have driven me nuts but I couldn't be more pleased. We ended up getting the whole backyard wood fence taken out and a new vinyl fence installed. Chris the project manager was always in communication with us and his foreman Ivan was always on site and answered any questions we had. Couldn't be more pleased with the result, would recommend them to anyone.

My wife and I have a new-build that required additional landscaping of our backyard. We eventually decided to go with California Outdoor Living after reading all their positive reviews on yelp. In addition their quote was very competitive if not the best when looking at other contractors. We already had a design in mind for JC which made the process very quick. Although there was some misunderstanding with the design and drains throughout the process, JC was always responsive with his texts and quick to make adjustments. The moment we got our design approved by our HOA, the construction happened VERY FAST. We emailed California Outdoor living on a Wednesday evening of our approval. The very next day (Thursday), JC arrived to go over the outline. I do appreciate how fast things were done, but it was almost to a fault at times. They were ready to go by the next day but my wife and I didn't feel like we had discussed the plan and execution thoroughly enough. On Friday the construction workers were already digging out our backyard. They spoke only Spanish so communication was very difficult to ensure if our plan was executed appropriately. By Saturday all of the pavers were laid out. Construction was incredibly fast but because of that some details were lost in translation. We discussed with JC that we wanted an 11x14 ft paver island. However the final dimensions was 12.5 x 12.5 feet. We also wanted all the walls of our backyard to be lined with turf. However the paver border ran too close to one of the walls, that putting turf did not make sense. They only left 1 inch between the wall and the paver (see attached image). We appreciate how fast the work was done. The overall work was great BUT not exactly what we wanted. We felt rushed with the whole construction process. However everything was done in less than a week which was incredible! In addition, once the turf was laid out JC noted that window reflections from both our neighbors and our own windows would cause damage to the turf. He informed us this can happen sometimes. Going back to rushing things and not being thorough, we wished JC took the time to look at our backyard and factor in this possibility. If we had known the reflections could damage this area we would have changed our turf design. At the end of the day they are just executing our design, but it's these minor things that left us feeling like our backyard could have been better. However we are still very thrilled with the overall speed and communication done throughout the process! Would still recommend this company. But these small critiques are definitely something to keep in mind for future clients.

I would not recommend this company. Their lack of attention to detail made the entire experience…read moreunpleasant. The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.

We were referred to Hillside Pavers by a close friend who had completed a similar project not long before ours, and that recommendation gave us a lot of confidence going in. After going through the process ourselves, I can absolutely see why they spoke so highly of the company. From the beginning, Byron made the design and estimating process feel very clear and professional. One thing I really appreciated was that he used an iPad on-site to draw out the design, calculate measurements, and price everything very accurately. It was not a vague "ballpark estimate" type of process -- it felt transparent, exact, and easy to visualize, which gave us a lot of confidence moving forward. Byron also helped us finalize the color choices, especially for the walkway, and his suggestions made a big difference in the final look. Roberto, who supervised the on-site construction work, was also excellent. He really listened to my concerns, took the time to discuss details with me, and most importantly followed through in the actual work without any issues. That meant a lot to me because I care about both design and functionality, and he handled both very well. Casandra in the office and Oscar as the business manager were also great throughout the process. They were organized, responsive, and helped keep everything coordinated smoothly, which made the whole experience much less stressful. They were very competitive on pricing as we got several quotes. Oscar was very easy to work with as we described our needs and he came up with great designs that took very little adjustments to get exactly what we had envisioned. Oscar took us to several nurseries to select plants that would compliment the project. Victor took care of the demo and construction side of the project and was he amazing! The crew shows up on time and the site is thoroughly cleaned up each day. Communication was awesome, if we had any questions about products or how things were being laid out Victor answered them right away. As the project went along if Victor thought something might look better a certain way he would ask us what we thought before proceeding. Victor's crew were very courteous and professional at all times! He also created documents to submit to our HOA for approval, and he was able to make changes quickly when needed. Victor and the crew were on time, efficient, and timely with the work. It was greatly appreciated that everything was washed down and cleaned by the crew at the end of each day. They were also able to make quick adjustments when our neighbor had some concerns with the hedges we wanted to plant. The scope of the work included adding a concrete pad, extending our concrete patio, planting privacy hedges with drainage and auto watering system, installing artificial grass with paver walkways, and adding pebbles along the exterior wall of our house. Since we have a soft watering system, we also had them install a separate line from the main. Overall, Caliscapes OC was professional, friendly, and accommodating. We even had one of the hedge plants not doing well. We reached out to Caliscapes OC to advise us on how to revive it, and they said they would replace it. We had a good experience and would recommend!

We had to get a permit, and the city took forever because of limited appointments due to COVID. Carlos did his best to keep things moving along. It also took some time to get the materials. I think the price was reasonable for all the work that was done. Carlos checked in regularly, and made sure the job was progressing. Everyone on the crew was very nice when I went out to check on progress. We are very satisfied. I will not hesitate to recommend or use West Hills again in the future.

We got a few quotes, and Infinity was the lowest bid. That was only part of our decision process, however, as we wanted it to be done right. After their process was explained to us, we felt comfortable that they would most likely do a good job. And, they did! Our patio looks great! The guys who did the job worked really hard and were meticulous. Due to weather issues, the job was delayed a few weeks. While unavoidable, that was disappointing. What made it a lot less frustrating was the very timely communication by Andrew, always keeping us updated on status. He was a real pleasure to work with. Our patio should look good for many years, but if we ever need resurfacing again, we would definitely use Infinity.

We hired Ivan's Masonry for two jobs: driveway renovation and a new stairway with walkway. From onset it was a long journey for us figuring out what material we will be comfortable with. Ivan patiently consulted us on every available material: concrete, stamping, coloring, and many styles from different providers of concrete pavers. None really resonated with our vision. After a month of research we ended up selecting clay pavers for their traditional look and lasting quality. The problem was that no contractor in our area would even consider working with clay pavers. Initially Ivan also refused but with some prodding he actually agreed to install clay pavers and did an amazing job. The team would start consistently punctually at 7 am and worked full days. Ivan, the owner, would work on the job 100%, including operating the equipment and setting the pavers. The site was kept reasonably clean and the process was well organized. We love the results. Our house became the model for the street as a first house with pavers. Many people complimented on the improvements and expressed the desire to contract with Ivan's Masonry. The only point of feedback I'd have is to ensure that you know what you want done, as he will do exactly what he explains and what you discuss with him. If you are like me and far from an expert (or even knowledgeable) about your yard/sprinklers, ask him and he will very patiently diagnose and explain. Otherwise, if you simply point to *specific* issues, he will expertly take care of them to the exclusion of any more digging (no pun intended.) As an example, there was some collection of water around the base of a repaired sprinkler - he had done exactly what we discussed: replaced the sprinkler itself, but he had not worked on anything around it. Not his fault, and when I asked about it, he explained what the other issue(s) might be. Less scrupulous people probably would've taken the opportunity to upsell me. Even after the work was done, and his payment was in hand, I still found him in my front yard, ensuring that his work was done right and polished. How many people would've done that, instead of just driving off after being paid? I'll definitely be calling Brandon the next time I have any sprinkler issues.

As someone who is fairly new to the area, and someone with high standards in regards to design and execution, I was grateful to find Micah, Ava and their amazing crew to renovate/ update our side yard for our recently purchased house in Monarch Beach. I could not imagine working with anyone else!!! We replaced old worn out turf, with beautiful DG and pavers, and mulched zones, they swapped out my irrigation system, and added some a beautiful accent lighting. All in all, it transformed our space and hit our budget that we had allocated for this project. We were looking for a modern, Japanese inspired space and that's exactly what we got! We have an HOA, so that dictated the design process, and Ava was excellent to work with me in the design concept phase. Micah and his crew recently rebuilt one side wall of an above-ground planter situated in a tight corner of my backyard. Given the close proximity to the swimming pool, iron fences, and air conditioning unit, the working area was significantly constrained. During the project, the team needed to excavate soil, demolish the old wall, reconnect the irrigation pipe, and dispose of the debris without allowing any dirt to fall into the pool or causing any damage to the air conditioning unit. Throughout the entire project, Micah's team exhibited exceptional workmanship and professionalism. They expertly built the wall, maintained a clean workspace, and skillfully repaired the irrigation pipe. I wholeheartedly recommend Micah and his team for landscape work. read more

From the very beginning, Don worked closely with us to establish a clear vision and design, patiently incorporating many revisions as we refined what we wanted. His responsiveness and guidance throughout the design process were outstanding. Once the design was finalized, Paradise Designs brought in two large, highly professional crews--one focused on hardscape and another on trenching, digging, and drainage. Both teams were extremely hardworking, well-staffed, and clearly experienced. They used the right tools and equipment to work efficiently without sacrificing quality, often putting in long hours to keep things moving. Paradise Designs coordinated seamlessly with a wide range of other trades and vendors, including electricians, a general contractor, shade structure specialists, the spa and crane team, the gardener responsible for irrigation and planting, quartzite countertop fabrication, and multiple product suppliers. Everyone they worked with commented on how easy and helpful Paradise Designs was to collaborate with. Despite multiple project delays due to weather, permitting, and manufacturer delivery issues, none of the delays were caused by Paradise Designs. Throughout the project, they were easy to schedule, quick to respond, and always available when questions or changes came up. Any issues that arose were fixed quickly, correctly, and professionally. The scope of work was extensive and included a sunken vault for a Bullfrog spa with a sump pump and beautiful TimberTech framing, a large porcelain-tile patio with integrated drainage, including footings for a shade structure and a new sliding panel back door, new gas and water lines, and completely updated drainage. The project also included a large L-shaped outdoor kitchen with quartzite countertops and porcelain siding, a fire pit and lounging area, a cantilevered umbrella set in concrete, and several thoughtful custom touches that make the space both functional and elegant. Pricing was fair and transparent, with no surprises. The only cost increases were due to our own change orders as we decided to add more features. Don was always responsive to changes and helped us think through decisions so we felt confident in every choice. We would absolutely use Paradise Designs again for future projects and can't recommend them highly enough.
