While they were quick to respond and did send someone to provide an estimate for front yard maintenance, their prices are absolutely ridiculous. My front yard is about 400 square feet. They insisted I needed weekly maintenance despite the fact that I have been getting bimonthly service for over 20 years. They then came up with a monthly fee of $245! If I wasn't so disgusted at the ludicrousness of the quote, I would have laughed out loud thinking they were surely joking. read more

Called Barnyard Specialties to help us address a water issue we were having inside a storage room. The building is an old house that was converted into a commercial retail space. The concrete in the rear area was poured over the wall weep screed so water was slowing being absorbed into the wall and creating a mold situation inside. Micah from Barnyard met me onsite and he spent a lot more time than expected measuring and talking over options. Micah was very knowledagble and found creative ways to remedy the situation while still considering our budget. During the design conversation he made quick calls out to his subcontractors to verify costs and timing so everyone could jump in and tackle this project as a team. I've been a contractor in San Diego for 40 years, have run crews and worked along side many other long-time trade professionals. I was impressed with this initial meeting so much we hired Micah and his team at Barnyard the next morning and we couldn't have been happier. The pre-planning we did and coordination from the start made the entire process run smoothly to the end. We ended up removing all the existing concrete that was poured too high and sloped toward the building. Removed more than 8-tons of dirt. Sawcut the exiting slab tight to the wall for a good look which required removing 36" of stucco to get the big sawblade tight to the wall. Re-stuccoed the walls with a new weep screed and installed several new in-ground drains and down spout connections. big jobs, small jobs all add up to many small details, if someone pays attention to all the details you have a winner. This review is a long time coming. We really needed to rehab our front yard by enclosing it due to the fact that our son is on the autism spectrum and one of his main issues was impulsively leaving the house. We wanted it to be low maintenance so we chose pavers, turf and easy to care for plants. I had a design done but Micah and team executed it amazingly and made suggestions we worked into it. Micah was always communicating and explained the process step by step and also the costs involved with each step. Never would I have though that much care had to go into drainage! Micah and the team are awesome! I reached out to have them give me a quote to manually move a 1000+ lbs boulder from the front of my house, through a small side yard, and place/position it under a tree in my backyard. My side yard was too narrow for a skid steer to be used, so the team had to coordinate manually moving the boulder. Micah came out 2 weeks before to assess the job and give me a quote. The quote beat out every other quote I received and Micah's explanation of how they would do it and gave me a ton of confidence. On the day of the project, Micah's team showed up punctually, they cared for my home (putting down plywood to protect my pavers even when I said I didn't mind if they got scuffed up), and were extremely patient with me as we adjusted the boulder into the specific place and orientation we wanted. Afterward, Micah and the crew offered to get rid of the pallets the stone had been sitting on for me (otherwise, who knows how long they would have been taking up space on my side yard). They also hosed down and cleaned off the front of my house without even saying anything -- these guys just go above and beyond.
