Recycle Books Records is a true Texas gem!…read more This amazing used bookstore and record store is located in the heart of Denton, TX inside a 100+-year-old opera house. They have been independently and family-owned for over 40 years, and they are a must-stop for all book and music lovers out there. This store is HUGE with over half-a-million books, movies, music and memorabilia. However, I think what makes them extra special is the curated selection of Horror and Thriller books, including some very unique collectibles. I am more into contemporary, so keep in mind those books are located on the top floor of their second building. Their children's book section was also incredible but frankly I didn't have the patience to go through them. This store can be a little overwhelming so definitely take a breath and ask for help if you can't find the genre you are looking for.

Patchouli Joe's Books was an okay bookstore for me…read more After reading some of their amazing reviews, and exploring some of the other bookstores around Denton I had high expectations for this store. However, I don't know if we caught them on a bad day, if their inventory was really low after Indie Bookstore Day the weekend before, or if the stars just weren't aligned that day but the store itself was very empty. The book selection was minimal and the staff was not exactly helpful. Frankly the store felt too big for the minimal amount of books they had. Also customer service was absent that day and after asking some questions to the person at the counter you could tell he just didn't want to be there. The difference in customer interaction between this store and others around Denton was like night and day. Would I come back to Patchouli? Maybe, but it wouldn't be my first stop when visiting Denton.

Bookstores are my favorite stores - and Patchouli Joe's in Denton is another fabulous bookstore!…read moreAnytime you have a bookstore in an old historic building you already get my attention. And you create a space that honors the building and updating it with warm wood and fixtures, you're doing it right in my opinion. I loved the selections offered here and so did my daughters and granddaughter. Yes, I bought books here and my granddaughter was thrilled. There's a dedicated children's area with nice seating for them. There was a touch of magic there. Kids were happy and couldn't wait to get to the next book. That is what a book store is supposed to be about. I met the owners and both are genuinely nice and they care about their customers and their business. Both are very knowledgeable and more than happy to help in any way. If you're in Denton, you need to drop in and browse around - I bet you walk out with a great book!

The children's section in the Denton Barnes & Noble store has the most visually exciting displays I have ever seen! Please see my pictures so you can understand what I am talking about. It's whimsical, magical, and makes you feel like a child should feel for a safe and exciting place to read and learn about books. I want a room in my house to look like the children's section of this store. It would be a dream come true.

The Plot Twist is THE bookstore for all BookTok girlies out there (IYKYK)…read more I've been following this store on social media for a while and have actually purchased a few books directly from their website, because they do really cool partnerships with authors where you can buy a pre-order from them and get a few extra goodies with your purchase. Anyhow! I was finally able to visit the store in-person and was pleasantly surprised by their incredible selection. They carry mainly romance, romantasy and fantasy books, but I ain't complaining since that's what I read. On the back of the store they have a private seating area that feels very speakeasy-type. I highly recommend supporting this amazing indie bookstore. I also encourage everyone to follow their Instagram account since they have a ton of monthly events.
