Recycle Books Records is a true Texas gem!…read more This amazing used bookstore and record store is located in the heart of Denton, TX inside a 100+-year-old opera house. They have been independently and family-owned for over 40 years, and they are a must-stop for all book and music lovers out there. This store is HUGE with over half-a-million books, movies, music and memorabilia. However, I think what makes them extra special is the curated selection of Horror and Thriller books, including some very unique collectibles. I am more into contemporary, so keep in mind those books are located on the top floor of their second building. Their children's book section was also incredible but frankly I didn't have the patience to go through them. This store can be a little overwhelming so definitely take a breath and ask for help if you can't find the genre you are looking for.

I am deeply concerned by the current state of this facility. The living conditions are entirely…read moreunacceptable and fall far short of a safe, supportive environment. Furthermore, the staff routinely go against their own established rules, creating an inconsistent and unprofessional atmosphere where accountability is completely lacking The environment is further compromised because many clients clearly require specialized psychiatric treatment that this facility is simply not equipped to provide. This lack of appropriate placement and oversight severely impacts the safety and well-being of everyone there. Major, immediate changes are needed to address these systemic issues and I'm not going to stop until Director Mrs Toni Johnson- Simpson restores this facility accordingly or I will continue to go above and beyond until this matter is handled appropriately.

Anyhow! I was finally able to visit the store in-person and was pleasantly surprised by their incredible selection. They carry mainly romance, romantasy and fantasy books, but I ain't complaining since that's what I read. On the back of the store they have a private seating area that feels very speakeasy-type. I highly recommend supporting this amazing indie bookstore. I also encourage everyone to follow their Instagram account since they have a ton of monthly events.
