A group of us ladies grabbed wine bottles and snacks and headed out on our venture. The location is in a strip mall (newer) and was very clean and relatively big. We were greeted at the door by Denise, the owner, and checked in. Each person receives a punch card and you get a free class after the 10th class, which is pretty cool. Our instructor was laid back and very informative. I haven't painted since grade school, so that should tell you my experience! She told me that I have great technique so I wuv her. I'm sorry, I forgot her name!! Blame it on the wine. Painting with a Twist has a monthly calendar and you can attend a session after reserving a spot OR you can get at least 8 participants together and schedule a private party and you get to pick the painting that everyone with be doing together. You start with a blank piece of canvas and the instructor walks you through each step, telling you which brush to use and how to mix colors, make things brighter or darker, etc. She also walks around and gives you pointers or praise. The cost is $35 for a 2 hour class or $45 for a 3 hour class. The whole thing was so casual and comfortable. I was really hesitant to go because I do NOT have an artistic bone in my body, but after just a few minutes I felt right at home. They offer classes for kids, too. You just need to go to their website and check out the calendar. I neglected to take a picture of my painting, so I am going to have to come back and post that pic, but I did take a picture off of their site of the painting that we were doing so that people can see the finished product. Of course, my picture did not look this great, but it was fun and I am proud of it anyway!! Oh and I can't forget Odie..he is the owner's German Shepherd and was a doll! He isn't very good at sneaking food, though. I would try to casually "drop" sausage or cheese and he made it so obvious...ugh! Sorry, Denise, I couldn't help it. He was too cute!! All in all, I highly recommend this to anybody! It was such a nice change of pace and I believe I will make sure to do this at least once a month!

There's different painting everyday, so check it out and see what you like! Arrived a few minutes early (as you should to check in) and every one was so friendly! The receptionist and the artist (Lenny( were as welcoming as can be. My group was small, and coincidentally we were all high school and college aged students. Lenny chatted with us and made pleasant small talk as we painted away. Lenny is a highschool art teacher I believe, so he was very encouraging. Even though I though my painting looked like boo boo, he assured me that it was fine. I'm not an artist or painter by anymeans. I have NEVER done a serious painting in my life. But if I can do it, so can you. For $35, I can't complain. Will be back in a couple weeks to paint another! ALSO, its BYOB. Cups are provided.

The business owners and classroom teacher were phenomenal. They offer so many different kinds of classes to include: Watercolor Acrylic Pour Resin Crafts Cake Workshops Ceramics Mommy & Me Crafts Storytime Ceramics and so much more.... They offer private parties or if you have your own group and you want to book a class, they offer that too. You can bring your own drinks to include wine if you like. They keep a monthly schedule that you can find online. You can book your class with ease. They offer a monthly 'Maker's Club' which will host a different craft each month. You can book by the month or by the year. Each of the monthly Meet Up's will take place on the 4th Thursday of each month from 6pm - 8pm. You can bring your friends or make some new crafting friends at this monthly option. The facility is clean, stocked well and the owners and teachers are super nice and accomodating. The Plot Twist is THE bookstore for all BookTok girlies out there (IYKYK)…read more I've been following this store on social media for a while and have actually purchased a few books directly from their website, because they do really cool partnerships with authors where you can buy a pre-order from them and get a few extra goodies with your purchase. Anyhow! I was finally able to visit the store in-person and was pleasantly surprised by their incredible selection. They carry mainly romance, romantasy and fantasy books, but I ain't complaining since that's what I read. On the back of the store they have a private seating area that feels very speakeasy-type. I highly recommend supporting this amazing indie bookstore. I also encourage everyone to follow their Instagram account since they have a ton of monthly events.

The event space managers are very obviously biased, racist and demeaning to people they thought…read morewere "beneath them" in their "art gallery". They are not business savvy enough to realize the mistake they made mistreating people in a movement that would bring them a lot of future business. A friend of mine rented this space with the goal of bringing Zumba events to Denton, and brought Instructors both local and from far and wide for a Zumba masterclass at this space. She had conversations prior with management to set expectations. They verbally agreed about the music being loud (That's Zumba!), the microphone and sound equipment needs, and she was assured that the needs would be met. Needless to say, on the day of the event, those agreements were flipped on the head. We were met with aggressive management staff that had their noses up in the air, who reprimanded my friend right in front of the whole crowd of people. They talked down to her and the rest of us who tried to have a reasonable conversation with them, as though we and the rest of the people who had come for the event were beneath them. Everything was a problem. The volume, apparently the sight of us in our skin, the colors, where we put our belongings, the way we breathed were met with hostility and disgust. It's stressful and hard enough to put on an event of that magnitude, so having the managers yelling at the event organizer caused her to break down crying. The managers were relentless, had no mercy and kept talking down to her and asking her to turn down the volume. The microphone stopped working which is horrible for a hosted Zumba event. The event organizer was never told that the event space would be open to the public and that people would be walking into an event that was paid for. One of the younger managers had the nerve to condescendly ask her if she hadn't looked at their website prior, to research what their organization was about. What does that have to do with someone paying you for an event that you agreed to? Let's be clear... These managers are racist and biased and don't want people such as "us" in their art gallery space. What kind of people are "we"? A teacher, an engineer, an actor/documentarian that is the inspiration behind you and your girlfriend's favorite Texan movie? CEOs of their own companies, business owners? These "kinds" of people. When the main manager saw the outpouring of love for my friend who put the event together, it literally dawned on her what the potential impact would be. Then she started to flounder, retract herself and start to make conversations to smooth things over. It was a little too late. At this point we already had such a bad taste in our mouths. It's such a missed business opportunity, because the Zumba community has events literally every other week. There would have been so many other Zumba events there if this had been a positive experience for us. It's quite unfortunate in this day and age that people are still so biased and judgemental. You have no idea who you are interacting with. Be careful how you treat people.
