Service was ok but the experience over all wasnt. For my saturday halloween costume, a rather unimpressive black cape and a minuscule amulet, i paid almost 60 bucks. When i didnt bring back the hanger i was nickel-and-dimed for another 3 dollars ( Im sure that was in the fine print somewhere) . So damn cheap. For my Friday costume the following week I went to Dallas Costume Shoppe and got a far more impressive elaborate full roman centurion costume for just a few dollars more along with better service and no hassle over the hangers I think Rose has an inflated sense of itself because it's on the much -vaunted "town square" the self-declared the halloween capital of texas (bwahahaha) . I think the owner takes his customers for granted. Shame. read more

This shop is a set designer's treat! Lots to look at: even the restroom is decorated over-the-top in a Sherlock Holmes theme. I arrived at 11am for the sidewalk sale (began at 10), and I was too late to buy renaissance, themed (any theme) costumes, or tutus. What remained were pants, shirts, etc that can be found at thrift stores. Not worth the wait in line. Inside, there are many rooms of glorious costumes to rent. Very elaborate and detailed. Rentals vary: $75 for Sonny Bono's fur vest, $20 for an apron, etc. A fun place to look, for sure. Inspiring. read more

An absolute delight! We went there to try and find garb for my son to wear to Scarborough Renn Faire. Danny tried his best to find things for my son but it was never exactly what he had in mind. We left empty handed but with smiles on our faces. That aside, this place is a treasure trove. I could spend most of the day there! Holy CRAP Balls, WHY did I not know this place existed until now? I accidentally discovered Rose Costumes after dining at Sapphire's Tea Room in the adjacent Antique Experience. I was needing a fake mustache and it was Providence that a costume shop was so close, so I strolled over to buy one. Little did I know what awaited me on the other side of that unassuming door... This place is like a freakish museum from the traveling carnivals of the 1800s. There isn't an inch of visible wall anywhere. EVERYTHING has been decorated. Each dressing room has a specific theme, from Suicide Bathroom to Haunted Whorehouse. Throughout the vast establishment are other themed areas, including a Wild West Saloon (where the Mexican and Pioneer costumes reside), and Sweeny Todd's bloody barber shop. These are unique costumes, many of them hand made, or actual vintage items. You just won't believe everything you see here. I strolled in to get a mustache (a 5 minute affair) and we didn't leave until an hour had passed. If you have something in mind that you need, chances are they've got it. Their selection is unbelievable. Even if it's a life-sized Ninja Turtle costume complete with head. If you have no idea what you want, a few minutes in the store will get your creative juices flowing. WHATEVER you do...you have to experience their bathroom. It can be tricky to find, but you'll thank me for pointing it out. read more

As a Denton girl born and bred, I remember when Rose Costumes was Secondhand Rose over on Fry Street and then when it was on North Elm, where it spent many of its years. I think I'm only a little older than it is; I loved this place as a kid and I still love it now. It's a little far out in waaaay North Denton, but it is certainly in a much bigger space now! This is just the most epic costume shop in the entire metroplex, worth the drive from far and wide. There is so much attention to detail in the shop itself (the individually themed dressing rooms have always been my favorite), it's abundantly clear its run by people with a real love for what they do. The girl who waited on me was especially friendly; the people here are very eager to help you find just what you need! I recently went in search of a black boa (which they have for rent but it was the only color--and wow, there were many--they didn't have for purchase). But I couldn't leave, I still had to stay and look around because there's just so much damn SHINY in this place and I hadn't been in here in a while. You could go here without a single clue of what to do for Halloween and be overwhelmingly inspired by the mountains of choices. In addition to numerous costumes (every era you can think of, plus a wall of rabbit heads, a small entire Wizard of Oz room, you name it) they have tons of accessories, props, and wigs as well, and not just the run-of-the-mill kinds. Now I will say that some of the prices can be pretty damn steep. However, the costumes here are of impeccable quality. I have always been blown away not just by the immense offerings on display but how well they are taken care of and how sharp the quality is. The mens' period suits are a great example and the 20s costumes were just gorgeous. Honestly, I wish I had more excuses to come here. read more

There is no place in the Metroplex like Rose Costumes. It is worth a trip to the store just to take a tour of the themed dressing rooms. The decor is a work of art. You need to see the Sherlock Holmes bathroom that meets ADA standards for a wheelchair accessible public bathroom. Then there is Miss Haversham's dining room. Then there are the costumes themselves. Almost all of them have been made by the staff. Many of the costumes are altered garage sale finds. The costumes are grouped by type...for example, if you want something for a Ren Faire, there is an entire room of costumes that can be rented. It is possible to rent an entire costume or just parts of it. The staff will encourage you to rummage in your own closet or venture out to a Thrift Store to find the base for your costume and just get the accessories from them. read more

This place is just Awesome, and I never knew it existed! We have lots and lots of crazy themed party's and we all know that you can Never wear the same costume twice. So buying a new costumes for every single party was getting expensive, not to mention what to do with them when the party's over! In comes the part about how awesome Roses is! Found if by accident and decided to check it out, and all I can say is WOW! This place has so much character all on it's own, (wait until you see the dressing rooms!), and Then you start to notice all the amazing, quality, costumes! These are the real deal!! And all the accessories are included and the staff are just as friendly and knowledgeable and can be! All in all, just a great experience! It's sad that I'm leaving this place a one star review. I've been going here since I was a child but I will never shop here again or have ANY of my companies work with them. I needed one hon an iron throne. They used to rent it it but are now not going to because it's damaged. My company offered to pay for it to be fixed, get insurance to use it and hire professional movers but Bette still refusing to let us rent it under the guise of it's not worth OUR money. I have 2000 people coming to a GOT event that will not have an Iron throne now because they're refusing to help us out. They're they only people in the TX with an iron throne. We would of also ordered all 20 of our costumes there as well. Thank you for not working with us, not helping us, and basically leaving us out to dry 3 weeks before our event. read more

Our small charity contracted with Rose Costumes to rent a Batman costume for the Mini A-Kon Convention on February 28. Unexpectedly, the convention was cancelled due to snow! If your wanting AWESOME costumes and props and an even GREATER experience then you should come here!! The staff is super creative, friendly and fun! The WHOLE place is decorated and almost anything can be rented! So if its for a party, a school or church play or just for a trip to the Renaissance fair they can most certainly hook you up! When I first when they gave me a tour of the whole store, which included behind the scenes where they build cool props. At the time they were making THE throne from Game of Thrones!
