This is a fun activity - definitely a "help create" where you do little work but do get close up and hands (safely) on. Your take home gift (available next day after the glass cools) is a fun reminder of the activity. I've recommended it for my family as an activation during our upcoming reunion.

Wow what a treat! My daughter in law treated me to a glass blowing experience. So informative and fun! Oh my gosh and so hot! The staff is amazing explaining exactly how the process works and allowing a hands on experience. I made a purple beer glass! No pics as it was left behind to rest

What a find!!! I watched the artisans at work. What a treat! I really enjoyed shopping there as well. The manager was delightful and taught me so much about glass. I bought a beautiful high ball glass for my bourbon. The manager wrapped my glass with loving care. It made it back to Virginia beautifully. I wish I wasn't flying back to Virginia because I would have bought SO much more, the prices were amazing. I will be back!

"I love the sound of breaking glass Deep into the night I need the noises of destruction Flying all around" (David Bowie) One of our convention activities was a trip to downtown Grapevine to visit Vetro and give a try at our glass blowing skills. It's not glass blowing in the traditional way you make think of, but rather its a process where you start off with a solid hunk of glass, and then use tools to heat it, adding colors to the molten glass, and finally shape it. Depending on the season of your visit, you might be making a paperweight or stemless wine glass or Thanksgiving pumpkin or Holiday ornament. It was paperweight and heart season for us and our group had a terrific time with our creations. Pro Tip -If you place your paperweight into a carry on bag like we did, be prepared to have TSA open up your bag and see what exactly that heavy round glass object really is.

I'm honestly amazed at all the 5 star reviews, our experience unfortunately wasn't 5/5. When we arrived in the workshop room on time for our 12 o'clock class glassblowing appointment, there were people standing around and also sitting on bleachers, we weren't sure what the protocol was so proceeded to ask around and no one else knew much either. Then an associate responded to have us take a seat. We just sat there with welcome, intro, or instructions. For almost 30 minutes. I went up to one of the workers to ask again and that's when she said to wait till they call our name. In my opinion this was very poorly managed (total wait time 30 minutes). After the experience, (where you took part of about 5-8 minutes total of hands on experience and they did the rest), again, no instructions or anything, had to inquire on our own on when the project would be available for pick up.... No follow up email or "thank you for coming" or "here's what happens in the next few days/weeks" explanation. Felt very assembly like and was not worth the price in my opinion. The redeeming factor is that all the glasssmiths/instructors whom we encountered are very friendly :)

What a fun night taking a glass blowing class at Vetro! I was a little afraid at first I won't lie but the staff make sure you are successful making your piece. They have so many amazing pieces to choose from to purchase in the store so we grabbed a few unique items for gifts and some for ourselves They have featured classes monthly and we plan to take another one soon. It's only a little more to make the time yourself vs purchasing a ore made item but to mention the experience is cool!! After you make your piece you come back the next day to pick it up once it's cooled so I'll have to update this review with the pictures of our glasses when I pick them up!

What a fun place for a date! Extremely friendly staff; very inviting! We came here for the Valentine's Day "flaming hot date night" and it was awesome! Drinks, dessert, and art! It was so much fun to learn about the art of glass blowing and also be able to make your own art. I can't wait to come back to pick up my custom piece and I'll definitely be back for more fun!

We ducked in here during a pouring rainstorm and we were quite pleasantly surprised at all the beautiful glass work in this gallery. There are some very impressive pieces here. There was a giant blue jellyfish-like installation that was pretty amazing and some of the ones meant to look like skulls and a horseshoe crab were pretty epic. We ended up buying a small jellyfish from the display window. The only ironic thing was the area where they were blowing glass was actually cold instead of warm. Still though if you've never seen people making things out of glass you should definitely check it out. Parking was a breeze and there are some other small galleries in the area.

Fun place to go for a group activity or a double date night. Lots of glass artwork but the real gem is spending time in an experience learning the trade and seeing the glass form. The packages come with a size of item that you can make with much help and bring it home the next day. It takes over 10 hours to cool.

We loved coming here to shop for glass art for our home offices. I bought several glass ornaments and they sparkle in the sun. Makes a lovely gift for yourself or a friend. The shop workers are also friendly and helpful with questions. Some items are pricey but they are beautiful and you can tell the artists put tons of effort into their art form. I heard they have classes but we didnt get a chance to try them due to the insanely hot days that plagued the summer this year.

Super cool activity! We went for a Valentine's Day party where we got to make two glass items. We picked the colors, helped fire them and watched the artisans in action. Super fun date night. We will add this to our list of activities to do with out of town guests.

Glass blowing is a true art, and this place has some cool stuff. You can also sit and watch the blowers at work - which can get CRAZY HOT (warning). The store staff was all very friendly and helpful. I was impressed with the variety of things you can buy, they even feature glass artists from Oregon and other areas around the United States. If walking around Grapevine, make sure you duck into this place. My last similar experience was in Murano, Italy and this store compared favorably.

We had a great experience here. The place was well ventilated and they followed social distancing guidelines. Although we all are stuck in this pandemic, they still made the experience fun and safe. Would recommend this place to any family for the holidays or any season.

I was originally drawn to Giddens because I was looking specifically for Manuel Sarmiento's new 'home' after the Artisan's Collective in the BAD closed down (wahhhh) & found he has quite a bit of work here. Also my daughter needed to research female artists for her an art class assignment, so I just happened to be able to have my cake and eat it too here. That day we both accomplished our goals and she walked away with a plethora of (LOCAL) artists to be inspired by and bring to the attention of her instructors and classmates; I walked away with 3 pieces I LOVE. Two pieces (a sculpture and table) by Manuel Sarmiento & a diptych by Rosemary Riddle-Achelpohl. (See pics, aren't they amazing!) Let me also say that a great bonus to this gallery is that it's staffed by said artists, not just someone there just for a paycheck. What a joy to be able to speak with them about their work, hear their stories & see their passion for their craft. There's nothing like having a direct connection to the artists themselves. But don't fret, they know not only about their own work but have vast knowledge on all of the Gallery happenings and other artists showing in this gallery. So ask away about anything and if they don't know the answer they will jump through hoops to get it. Talk about Service! I was so impressed with the time and energy spent on both myself and my daughter in our different goals for the trip. AND when you're talking about Service, they not only delivered but the OWNERS of the gallery delivered to me. They are incredibly friendly, helpful and treat your new art and home with great respect and care. Cherie is also an artist featured in her gallery as well & it shines through that she truly loves both aspects of her profession; both being an artist AND representing the wonderful artists she curates. Don't miss this gallery if you are out shopping for art or if you're just in Grapevine and want a lovely experience seeing local artists' works. ------- UPDATE: kiddo had an assignment to hunt down artists to showcase at class again. I bought art again! It's impossible to resist when there are some truly remarkable artists represented here. Shockingly I didn't walk away with a Sarmiento piece this time. Picked up a watercolor by Naomi Brotherton that I'd eyed last time & couldn't stand to lose the chance to own this time around. The pic I took is awful, but if you know your art mediums, you can clearly see how remarkable it is that this was done in watercolor. Ms. Brotherton is truly mind-blowing in her talent, a master! As usual Cherie was helpful, focused, accommodating, knowledgeable, and a bonus; she's thoughtful. She remembers her clients on sight. She remembers what they bought. She cares! GO to GIDDENS!!!

Not only was it the first time I worked with this type of clay, but the learning experience was great in so many other ways. The techniques used have served Lorri well in her amazing art, which is displayed in private collections and publicly in cities everywhere. It was a joy to learn from her; she has a down-to-earth, laid back attitude and a great sense of humor. The others in the workshop were excellent to be with for the long weekend and the experience levels ranged from beginner to seasoned. Because the pieces were raku fired, waiting with the group for the pieces to finish was a fun and exciting time. I'd recommend this class to anyone interested in clay. Lorri and her husband, Adam Schultz, will be holding workshops at Holder Dane in March, with Adam's figurative clay workshop March 24-26 and Lorri's figurative paper clay workshop March 27-29.
