The year was 1994 and Plano was still in its initial stages of exponential growth. Everyone was so excited that B&N was opening one of their huge and well stocked book stores. I spent many hours in this store over the years. Not so many lately as it has declined in a significant way. On a positive note they have recently opened a smaller store in the area. The store is small and cute, limited to the stones carried, but is still a very intimate and great store with the unique pieces and selections it does have. I did find it a bit more on the pricier side for some pieces but the price could be based on actual location cost of living or where the stones were collected from.

The price quoted was a lot with a 10 week wait! But after they explained what repair entailed and what to look for when purchasing a BIble that lasts, I understood. I didn't get the name of the person that spoke to me, but she had excellent customer service skills and she used them, taking time to explain the process so very kindly. I decided to just buy the kid a new Bible (one not glued, but sown together, her recommendation) but if I ever need a book repair service, they will surely get my business. And, I'll be sure to pass on their info. Customer service is a lost art, but not at The Book Doctor!

But if you are looking for a European time machine that will take a beloved book back to what it was or even better, this is the spot for you. We came to the Book Doctor with a small devotional, quite honestly a lost cause with no cover or binding and several severely damaged pages. We were hoping for some sort of cover and binding to preserve it since it is of great sentimental value and over 90 years old. What we received back was a gorgeous gem, a true made-to-order family heirloom. Not only was the cover beautiful, the binding is a work of art and pages we thought were lost forever were delicately and expertly restored. We stand amazed. Again, if you expect to do it on the cheap and have it by next week, forget it. But if the book in question matters to you and you budget for time and money, plan in advance, make an appointment with one of their experts, then expect the best. These are artisans who will pour all their skill and experience into your valued piece and devote entire days solely to its restoration.

The womens book section is also excellent, lots of fiction, self-care, and inspirational reads at reasonable prices. The Starbucks inside B&N is a huge plus. Grabbing a coffee while browsing magazines or purchasing a new book makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The store is clean, well organized, and has a comfortable atmosphere that encourages you to stay awhile. Definitely a go-to spot for book lovers and anyone who enjoys a good magazine and coffee break! They do have restrooms here. However, people are real pigs, so the restrooms aren't very clean. Ugh. The real Starbucks could take and learn a lot from them, never a botched drink, their selection of pastries and food is far superior to the regular Starbucks, no music to get in the way I will go out of my way to have a coffee and relax there than any Starbucks. Bookstore and combination with the coffee shop is just outstanding. Can't go wrong with this place where you want a cup of coffee or a book, or a puzzle yeah the prices are a little high but then again where aren't they today. would have rated them five stores, but it's a big store and there is or was checkout space at both ends of the store but the last couple years they've really only ever staffed the one side so you have to walk all the way to one end of the store to pay and then walk all the way back out the other end if you parked in the main parking lot.

Bibliobar Book Store is a delightful Indy bookstore in the historic downtown Plano area. It's a relatively new business, having just opened their doors in April. The proprietor has assembled a unique collection of books, including a section by local authors. In addition to books, she sells others things like book markers, tea towels, hats, and more! Her prices are fairly reasonable and she also has a loyalty program where you get $10 off for every $200 in purchases you accumulate. Add to that, the fact she has a section from which you can choose a free book if you spend over $80 in one purchase and the deals keep adding up! The owner is a really neat woman who has a passion for the book business and has worked in several angles of the business which has ultimately culminated in her owning her own store.
