Wow -- I absolutely loved visiting this bookstore! I'm from out of town and honestly, I wish we had a Half Price Books where I live. As a huge book collector, this place felt like a treasure trove. There was truly something for everyone, and the prices were fantastic. One of my favorite finds was a beautiful collection of Mark Twain stories -- such a gem. I also picked up a few books for my daughter, and we had the best time browsing together. The kids section was so sweet and welcoming. She was getting into everything (as toddlers do!), but everyone was so kind and understanding. The rest of the store has a bit more of a library feel -- lots of readers quietly flipping through pages, sitting on benches and tucked-away desks -- which I think is wonderful. I was mindful of the more relaxed, peaceful atmosphere outside the kids area, but it was really heartwarming to be in a space where people clearly love books and value time spent with them. You can tell this place is run by people who genuinely care about reading and community. I just want to see this business thrive. We'll definitely try to stop by again before heading home. Fellow K-Pop collectors please read! I brought in the albums pictured - six had everything and the rest had everything except the photocard - and was offered $6. I asked about the albums they sell, which often don't have photocards, and they said those were "mistake offers" or donations. I wasn't going to post a review, but after getting home and opening one of the albums I noticed they damaged the photocard. It was wedged as far into the crease of the page as possible, causing the top left corner to be bent, so I actually lost money since a damaged card lowers the value of it and the album! So, PSA to anyone looking to sell K-Pop albums: they must have photocards or they won't take them! Also, please check how they place photocards and other inclusions in your albums before you leave in case they damage something! Um this may be my new favorite Half Price Books, first Ken was amazing!! He handled it so well when I freaked out in utter shock and excitement because they had brand new hardbacks for $13.99!!! It's unheard of! I probably asked him 101 questions and he was so nice and patient showing me where Kristin Hannah and Colleen Hoover was. Every associate I came across was more than helpful and very friendly. The used books are in great condition and prices are incredible. Love that this location is close to me. I've always enjoyed the vibe of half priced books. The workers seem more down to earth, and I've never had a bad visit. The selection of books are great especially for kids. Whenever I drop off our old books for resale, I always end up finding a cool book for my kiddo as well. Great selection of board games, stationary, and vinyl records. Location like others have said is smaller than other locations, but still a great one to check out! read more

All of the Half Price Books locations are nice, but this one typically doesn't have as many old tabletop role playing games, which is what I usually stop in to shop for. It has been a good place to find some interesting devices like old Nook ebook readers. I bought a version 1 here in like-new condition for a great price. There's also a decent selection of science fiction. read more

I guess this is another sign of COVID impact. This used to be a decent HPB; however, stopped in today and it was just chaos. My daughter and I love to visit the various HPB locations for fun and the mighty hunt for books on our reading list. Although this location seems smaller than some of the others (maybe thats an illusion?), this HPB tucked away in corner of the 'Trader Joes' strip mall at Park/Preston never disappoints. We seem to always find the books we want at this location. It is laid out like the others but we like the feel of this location. read more

I was a bit disappointed that this location didn't have many of the books I was looking for. The clearance section had prices to die for with many things only a dollar or two, but the books were sparse and many not in great condition. I also found other books not in the clearance section for only $3, so I'm sure there are some nice deals to find if you are meticulous. If you want to sell/donate your books, call ahead because their policy has changed and I heard an announcement while browsing that you have to bring in a very large amount of books (2 boxes or 3 bags) and come at a specific time of week. read more

I sold three boxes of books today that included new books , all books in great condition . These books included dictionary's , encyclopedias , SAT prep books etc a total of 106 books and they only gave me $12 ! This place is a rip off . My big advantages living in Plano, TX, are so many; low gas prices, low tax rates, people, decadent and scrumptious BBQ, and the Half Price Books. As a book collector for a good cause sending children's book to other countries to help kids for many years, I used to visit local library book sales on Saturday, or visited Last Bookstore in LA when I lived in CA. After moving I also visited local library book store in Plano but still limited because the volumes are relatively smaller than I used to visit in LA. Now I could find books at the Half Price Books instead. These are almost ubiquitous, more than 127 locations in 17 States (wiki).AMAZING. This place is heaven on earth finding treasures for me and my family, well organized, mostly new, affordable, and staffs are always helpful to find books I want. Today 100% rainy and the strong wind, but I dropped by this book store as if "on ne résiste pas à ce qu'on aime." You can find plush toys, LPs, CDs, final sale books, and $1 magazines. read more

This is my least favorite location. They don't have a big selection however, they will send books from other locations which is great. I didn't have the best experience with the customer service. I will stick to the Frisco location. read more

I stopped by this location recently to sell a bunch of books that I didn't need and was truly disappointed at the offer I was given, especially when in turn the book is resold for a lot more. I understand it's a business, and they do offer used books at a discounted price in comparison to other book stores, however in the future, donating the books seems to be a better deal over all. read more

This is one of the smaller half priced books but it's in a great location. The store is very well organized and well kept. Even the bathrooms are kept in good condition. I brought in a few books to see if they would buy them back. I had to wait about 25 minutes because there was a bit of a line. They allow you to drop off your books and you can wander the store rather than standing in line. Then they call you when they have an offer for your books. They take pretty much any book. But don't expect a ton of money back. One of my teaching pre test books I bought for $80. Apparently they came out with a new edition so mine was only worth $6. But hey I would have just thrown it in the trash so now I have $6 instead. Lol. The staff is very friendly here and really helpful. I would definitely recommend stopping in if looking to buy used books or to sell yours. read more

I love any and all HPBs! The small, the large, the old, the new...this location being on the bigger side. Some offer better selections than others, but that's half (hum) the fun. I can, and have spent, hours in the store before. Always leave with a small stack of books. I especially find that HPBs is a really good place to purchase language learning sets e.g., Rosetta Stone. If you find what you're looking for, the prices can't be beat! One negative: Have NEVER had a good experience with their Buy Back program. There is always a significant wait (and you can't leave the store) and despite the quality or relevance of the books I've "sold" the money they give you is next to nothing. For example, One time I took in 3 large boxes of various books and received $10. Another time i took in the entire collection (13 books) of Sookie Stackhouse (Charlaine Harris) books (True Blood) - which are in high demand - and they offered me a whopping $13. I will continue to buy, but I think I will donate my books to an organization in the future instead of selling them to Half Price. read more

I was heartbroken when I learned that MY Half Priced Books has closed... How dare they close without consulting an occasional customer. Fortunately, they set up shop a few miles away with a store that has much more space, better parking, and expanded selections of most everything. While not huge, I enjoyed the selection of vinyl records as I don't remember the old store having nearly as many. The only down side with the new location is that you have to relearn where very thing is... I've gotta remember that architecture is a sharp left from the front. read more

A coworker told me about these stores when I mentioned I wanted to read a good book over the weekend. Location was easy to find. It's not a huge store, but has a pretty good selection. Staff was very helpful, they located a book they thought they didn't have, but I wanted, and they found it. I was pretty happy. I love books and nothing replaces a real one versus reading on a gadget. I found their books to be in good condition with decent prices. I bought two books for about $12. HPB is a great place to go and explore and see what you can find. They have books as well as Dvds, Blu-Ray, Cds, and even Vinyl! I really wished that I had a record player when I saw an LP of Salt-N-Pepa. The selection is vast, and of course varies by location. Personally I like to go and look for movies that I have not seen in a while. This includes box sets of tv series. The best part? The prices. I have bought movies for $5.99 a piece. I have made the switch over to getting mostly digital books on my I-Pad or Kindle paperwhite but when I do need a hard copy of a book this is the first place I look. I appreciate this place because I can find some very good deals here on books that I would have paid 4x the amount for at a book store that sells brand new books. It is also very fun to come here to browse around if you are in the area and have thirty minutes to kill. For used books this is about as good as it gets.
