PANCAKE AU MATCHA / MATCHA PANCAKE GAUFRE AU POULET FRIT / CHICKEN WAFFLE PAIN DORÉ CRÈME BRÛLÉE / CRÈME BRÛLÉE FRENCH TOAST

Just happened to stumble upon this spot by chance and so glad to have checked it out! You can't go wrong here everything was delicious!

Barley has been on my list forever. So glad I finally got to try it. I was aware of the cereal concept before coming in so keep in mind things are going to taste very unique here. I ordered the waffle fried chicken and it was so different from what I expected. Slightly spicy and tangy, a bit like sweet chilli fried chicken on top of a waffle with a side salad. The side salad was a bit too bland. I didn't like the dressing as it was very light and there wasn't enough anyways so the mixed greens were bland. However, it's definitely the top place to get a cute instagram picture!

@barley takes brunch CEREAL-sly with a whole LATTE love ---- : Barley - Bar à Céréales (Montreal, QC) : Cereal Milk Latte ($6 CAD), Matcha Lavender Latte (~$6 CAD), Le Tassie Devil ($11.50 CAD), Le Gaufre Farcie au Halloumi avec Poulet ($23.00) Munchie Mandates: - Great for people with a sweet tooth (I would double recommend the cereal latte for both the aesthetic and the sugar rush). It is a bit on the sweeter side (both the drinks and the food) so be wary if you are sensitive on the sugar - The baked chicken and waffles is a definite must try. Sweet potato waffles are the perfect pairing to the crunchy (yet surprisingly not greasy) cereal breaded chicken. - Interior and local area make it a great place to bring friends or dates, since you can enjoy the ambiance inside or take walk outside to digest before going for seconds.

Decided to hop into Little-Burgundy for a nice brunch ! Cozy and fresh ambiance, with friendly staff. There pancakes melt in your mouth and are so thick and delicious. For all you zaatar and labneh fans out there , I highly recommend trying there déjeuner libanais plate. A taste of a classic Lebanese breakfast right in the heart of Montreal I highly recommend trying this spot as the portions are very generous and great for sharing if you like to try a little bit of everything.

This place is cute, and located very close to Atwater Market, so brunch at Barley then the market was a great way to spend my morning. The Croissant Sandwich was delicious! Came with potatoes and a delicious sauce. Totally recommend and service was great

Loved everything about this place My fave was the chicken and waffle, the chicken was perfectly fried with a spicy sauce, and I loved it I would just go back just for that . The pancakes are also fluffy and so good. This is the perfect place for breakfast or brunch nd Even late lunch. They have bowls, salad, brunch menu , smoothie and cocktail bar Definitely a must try for everyone

The matcha pancakes were delicious.

We continue to come back time and time again; the service is always wonderful, the food is good but sadly I don't believe they allow dogs anymore. Double check tho!

Barley is a spacious brunch spot in the Saint-Henri neighborhood in Montreal worth visiting. Here's why: 1) Food: For brunch, they have a brunch and lunch menu available with a variety of choices from smoothies to salads to sandwiches to chia bowels. My wife ordered the halumi plate and it was well balanced with an egg, olives, creamy labneh, pita, and more. My Le Cherry Wood open faced sandwich was so good with the beat hummus and egg on it. 2) Drinks: The coffee list is unique. My wife enjoyed the iced tumeric latte and my charcoal latte was delicious and comes with a side of cereal on it. 3) Atmosphere: It's beautiful and spacious. There are two dining rooms and a few picnic tables outside. 4) Service: We went on a Sunday morning and only waited for 7-10 minutes. The service was friendly and fast.

I have been to Barely's many many times during the week. I have seen they have a new brunch menu on the weekends from Friday to Sunday. I been devouring their brunch dishes pictures thru my eyes from all the social media. I studied their brunch menu by heart. When I arrived to have brunch today, I knew what am I getting. First, we started with their beautiful looking lattes; I had the beet latte and my sister had the charcoal latte. It was the smoothest and creamiest lattes ever and to top it, they were delicious. Then the superstar arrived on my table. The matcha pancakes topped with white chocolate sauce, plus strawberries and blueberries. The presentation was so stunning, and I felt like a criminal to put my knife through these pancakes. But my tummy wanted justice, so the crime was committed, and justice was served. It was perfect blend of all the ingredients and the taste was heavenly. On the other hand, my sister inhaled her chicken and sweet potatoes waffles. She loved it very very much. We arrived around 10:30, it was pretty packed. But when we were about to leave, we had hard time to get out because it was so packed, and the line up for seats grown so much within the hour. Nonetheless, the service was quick, efficient and lovely. Initially, I wasn't optimistic about how a cereal bar would sustain, but Barley proved me wrong, and it is here to stay for long time... I can't wait to come back from another brunch, so I can try other dishes from the menu.

4.5 This is such an awesome brunch spot! If you're going to the Atwater market and want a nice option for brunch or a lunch, Barley is the place!! They have a cool cereal bar concept, and a really great brunch menu. I came on a Sunday and got a table with no issue. The restaurant is really aesthetic...they have the nicest seating and really cool plants and decor to make for s great ambience. The servers are also super friendly and helpful. Decided on s couple of things and shared...avocado toast, granola bowl, quinoa salad, and frittata. Everything arrived looking so picturesque. This place was super instagrammable. I personally had the avocado toast and it was amazing. Really nicely done. I also tried some quinoa salad which was a very large portion size and quite filling! I also had to get their cereal ice cream in which you choose a cereal and they make it into a McFlurry type of thing...I got fruity pebbles ice cream which was delicious. The prices are also quite reasonable here. In all a Really solid brunch spot!

Chicken and Waffles (Baked cereal breaded chicken, sweet potato waffle, spicy maple sauce, green onions and a fennel salad + poached egg)
Rob R.

Barley - Bar à Céréales is located in the Little Burgundy neighborhood in Montreal, Quebec. They provide picture perfect dishes, which arrive exactly as shown on the photos of the website. They both look great, and taste great. I've ordered delivery with Uber Eats, and the order was prepared and dispatched very quickly. On the menu: * Chicken and Waffles (Baked cereal breaded chicken, sweet potato waffle, spicy maple sauce, green onions and a fennel salad + and extra poached egg) * Matcha Pancake (White chocolate sauce, hibiscus syrup, fresh strawberries and blueberries) The Waffles were sweet and crunchy, and so was the Chicken. The maple sauce provided the necessary extra kick to the flavours and the fennel salad has smoothened it all with its freshness. The Matcha Pancakes were thick, fluffy and flavourful. The white chocolate and hibiscus sauces added the perfect final touches to the dish. Instagram: @barley

Went out for a Sunday brunch and this places was on my list of spot to try, we had arrived here at about 1pm and there was a 30 minute wait but you could leave you phone number and have them call you when your table is ready. There menu is unique with a lot of cereal themed items like a number of lattes with available cereal toppings, I had chosen the matcha latte and it was delicious but if you planning on getting a sweet dish for your main it might be a lot. For my main I got the matcha pancakes the portion size was big so you'll really be filled up, the pancakes themselves were good in flavour but had an issue with the texture they weren't as fluffy as most other pancakes. Overall the meal was enjoyable and staff was friendly I would come back and try some different item

While the restaurant is highly celebrated and located within a Michelin-recognized hotel building, it does not hold a Michelin star of its own. But it is extremely classy. We decided to do lunch instead of dinner and it was a little more our speed, but if very, very attentive waitstaff is not your thing and $200 for lunch I'd skip this spot. We went because it had reviews for amazing beef Wellington and my husband hadn't had any in decades. And we were on vacation so let's go! The food was beautifully plated and service was impeccable inside of an amazingly decorated dining room that looked like a library in a mansion. The meals themselves weren't obscenely expensive but add a glass a wine, bread (it was not included) and coffee and it put us close to $200. But it was a great experience and I had never had beef Wellington - it was melt in your mouth good. Might go again next time we come up from CT.

This is inside a hotel and the lobby/bathrooms are very nice. Would recommend getting a reservation since there are limited tables and it was busy/full even on a Thursday evening. Came here on our first night in Montreal with 2 other girl friends. To start we all got cocktails and I had gotten the Right Word which has gin Tanqueray, liqueur St-Germain, Lillet, lime. It was a nice cocktail but nothing that special. I was a little disappointed that a fancy place like this did not have any unique cocktails. Most things on there were just basic cocktails you can find just with a different name. For our meal, my friend and I decided to get the beef Wellington and halibut and share as we both wanted the beef but also something lighter vs eating that much beef. Both dishes were very delicious but I didn't think they were amazing for the price you pay. Portions are on the smaller side too. To start, we had also ordered the focaccia bread. It comes out with a mound of butter with the Bar George logo on top and some sea salt crystals on a cute black slate board. The focaccia was fluffy and great, especially with the salted butter. It was nice that they cut up the beef Wellington into 2 parts already as we were sharing. Our other friend got the Lobster Risotto and I have to say hers was the best one of the 3. It has a curry flavor to the sauce and was just so flavorful and unique. The risotto soaks up all the flavor so that you have a delicious bit every time. The beef Wellington was recommended at Medium and it was perfect, Juicy and tender but it could have used a sauce on the side or a better side to bring in some more flavors. The halibut was a bit plain as well and needed a sauce. However, both dishes were still delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He helped answer any questions we had and gave his recommendations. Overall, a very pleasant experience, but just lacking a bit for me due the upscale vibes and pricing. Would still make a lovely meal if you are visiting Toronto.

On our first visit, Charlotte took wonderful care of us. The menu's ham and cheese option, which looked like a scone, seemed a bit heavy, so I asked if she could offer something lighter. Though a ham and cheese croissant isn't on the menu, she kindly offered to bring me the ingredients so I could make my own. I ordered a plain croissant with capicola, a ham-and-salami-style cold cut, and cheese on the side, then assembled my own sandwich at the table. I was so happy she accommodated me, and the simplicity and quality of the ingredients were perfect alongside one of the best lattes we've had in a very long time. On our second visit, Violet served us with the same warmth. I knew exactly what to ask for, and she delivered just as Charlotte had. We enjoyed great lattes with an extra shot of espresso on the side, and a hot chocolate that our son called one of the best he's ever had. The atmosphere is lively and cozy, with people chatting, warm lighting, and lovely decor. It's a bit tight inside and gets very crowded, but we were lucky to be seated right away both times, and we felt truly blessed as we watched a long line form outside. This is a staple for us, and it will definitely be on our list the next time we're in Old Montreal.

Jamie W and I got here late on a weekday morning. Sure enough there was a queue. Dame fortune must've smiled upon us because we moved to the head of the line as a party of two. Even though the threat of rain hung over us, we were seated in the front parklet and quite happily since the dining room inside looked packed. We started with a couple of C$6.25 Iced Maple Lattes because it felt like the Canadian thing to do. They provided a welcome caramel-like sweetness to our refreshment (Photo 9). Jamie was more conscientious about his entree and ordered the C$26.99 Crunchy Sesame Chicken Salad, quite a mound of delights: romaine, cabbage, carrot, celery, shredded chicken breast, cashews, cilantro, fried wontons, and sesame chicken (Photo 8). Both the textures and flavors meshed really well together. Of course you can guess what I ordered, the C$27 Ricotta Pancakes with brown butter maple sauce, lemon cream, and Quebec strawberries (Photo 10). The ambiance is so lovely and it truly is the best place for delicious brunch items and taking cute pictures too! My friends and I visited on a Saturday morning without reservations, but we went relatively earlier. We were seated right away for a table of 4 and were served teas and coffee. I ordered the Bone Marrow & Duck Confit which consisted of a country-style bread, duck poached egg, bone marrow, confict duck leg, manchego shavings, herb salted crumble and green peas. It's a massive dish and honestly everything tasted amazing all together. The bone marrow was perfectly cooked and the duck poached egg meld everything together. They also give you another bowl so you can put the marrow once you're done eating it. The bread was needed to soak up every part of this delicious dish. Other items ordered was the Foie Gras (Chef's specialty) which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, caramelized onion compote and crispy proscuitto chips. The chips were a wonderful item to pair with the seared foie gras. The foie gras was perfectly cooked. The Rustic is another fan favourite which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, sautéed mushrooms. pulled pork, potatoes and argula sprouts. it is such a beautiful dish - nice colours, many ingredients and placed well on the plate; not to mention it was so good too! The last item was the Croque Monsieur which has country-style bread, maple-glaed Gaspor acon, confit tomatoes, cheddar, duck sunny side-up egg on an endive salad. My goal was to eat as much foe grais as I can on this trip so I ordered the Foie Gras Poached Eggs. OMG starting off with the bread that was on the bottom, it was so soft and fluffy. Literally melted in my mouth. The foie gras had a beautiful sear and was rich and silky, with a texture that honestly reminded me of ice cream. There was also a touch of sweetness in the sauce that cut through the richness in the best way. Every bite was perfectly balanced.
