Great value and friendly service. Large portion sizes. Free bread. Parking lot is very small.

If you are very hungry and don't have much money to spend on food, this might be the place for you. I'm inclined to agree with a previous reviewer who gave this place a 5-star review and said: "This is the Waco style of Italian food." Because it wasn't close to what I'd call 'authentic Italian food'. I ordered the lunch special of the day: Ziti pasta with tomato sauce, garlic rolls and a green salad all for only $6.99. My wife had an entree salad topped with chicken. Both salads were mostly iceberg lettuce that tasted like it had sat too long. Since my wife wouldn't each more than a couple of bites of her meal, I had some and agreed that the chicken was dry, over-cooked and bland. The other two in my party had the authentic 'spaghetti and meatballs,' which they politely told me was "okay." Three of the four of us love bread with Italian food, yet the majority of the rolls placed on our table were untouched. For me it was because the rolls were too salty. We left a lot of food on the table. I wondered about the many awards Baris was given for their food and concluded that they must have been given before this place went downhill, or that....................well, I'm not going to go there. We had the best experience here! Everyone was so sweet and welcoming. The food was 10/10, and this will definitely be a place I visit often. It has such a homey environment and the best customer service. Highly recommend coming here!

Coming down to Waco for a day trip, we wanted a local restaurant for lunch- and we found it! You can tell Baris has been a neighborhood institution for decades. Great food, phenomenal prices, and a wonderful staff. Natalia was such a friendly and helpful waitress.

Our waitress was Arielle. She was kind & informative. Family owned restaurant. Food was delicious. Pink sauce was great! Portions large. We barely waited for our dishes. Very busy place. The parking is terrible but full of cars! Bc the food is really that good!

If you want cheap, local, large portion italian food, this is your spot. The restaurant was completely packed and we were able to get a table in 35 minutes. It seemed very understaffed but for the price we were paying, i didnt complain. I liked the local feel environment of the restaurant.

We hadn't been in Waco in several years had heard Mama Baris had passed away since our last trip. This place is as good as ever. We were warmly welcomed and immediately seated and the waiter took our drink orders. The menu is expansive and really makes it hard to decide. The bread is so delicious and filling it's hard not eat too much. The interior is charming and very authentic. The brick walls add to the ambiance. This is definitely a Waco classic.

A Waco institution. Authentic Italian food, tasty and legit Italian sauces (not Americanized/Wacoized, watered down drippy sauces). Great salad. Calamari served hot and large portion. Shrimp cacciatore was delicious with perfectly cooked spaghetti. Ziti delicious too, as was the fettuccine alfredo. Our server, Bailee, was terrific (see photo). Friendly and efficient service, and she checked on us regularly. Thanks Bailee for making a great meal even better!

Good food, very consistent. We love the rolls. Very easy to call in and pick up. The Tortellini Pink and Baris salad is delicious.

Pick up pizza out front makes for a convenient at home meal. The tortellini with pink sauce is another favorite.

Food is good. Place not much, but good Italian is served here. The servers know their stuff, too. And Mama Baris knew the customers.

Luigis - Spaghetti

The pizza was amazing. Perfect crust. And it was HOT! This is now our "go to" place for pizza!…read moreLoved the laid back atmosphere.

Hubby & I had not been to Luigis for quite sometime. We went about 4:30, on Sat, 4/25/26, to avoid…read morethe crowds. No one was at the entry station & we waited about 5 minutes before a tall, non-smiling, barely audible woman "greeted us" & led us to a booth. There were only two other booths occupied, & it was nearing 5:00 pm, quite surprising, since we recalled a once upon a time, bustling crowd. The same woman took our drink order, nowadays, "water", to keep the cost of eating out less of a sticker shock. A young man brought slightly burned top bread to our table, my husband said it was OK but would have enjoyed it better without the blackened tops. I asked the waitress if it was garlic bread, she told it was, & I mentioned I can't eat garlic bread, so she offered to bring rolls without garlic. I told her she didn't need to do that, but later, she brought me two delicious, perfectly baked hot rolls, without garlic. The creature was very kind .. but, still no smile! We love Luigis pasta dishes, but felt like trying their pizza & ordered the Luigis salad, to split. The salad was huge, but mainly chopped lettuce, red cabbage slivers, with two tomato wedges. Not near as impressive as salads we get at TX Roadhouse & the Longhorn Steak House, but crispy & good. They offered very few dressings, but the red Italian was delicious & my spouse said the ranch dressing was good, too. Mid-way through the salad, as an after thought, the Italian music was turned on, adding a bit of ambiance to the dark, quiet dining area. We thought that was odd, not turning music on, just as one would turn on lights, etc, at a restaurant. Our Canadian bacon/pineapple pizza, from the moment it was placed on the table, was unimpressive. It was thin, & void of an abundance of ingredients. It was very greasy, so we blotted every slice, having to go to the nearby entry station, still unoccupied, to grab extra napkins, because the waitress rarely returned to our table. Only one other group had entered the restaurant & another waitress was tending to them, so she was not "busy". How anyone can take cheese + meats + pineapple, & end up with a tasteless pizza, is beyond understanding, but add tough dough to the mix & Luigi's managed to serve the worst pizza we have ever been eaten! We were hungry & ate what we could, taking remaining slices home, thinking I could add bell pepper to a left over slice, toast it & eat it for a Sunday afternoon snack. For $16.99, we hated to leave 1/2 of a medium pizza, even though it was inferior quality! Honestly, we have gotten better at Domino's, for a fraction of the cost. We left the restaurant & went for a Sat evening drive, passing the restaurant, on Hwy 84, about 6:15 p.m., noticing few vehicles on the Luigis parking lot. What has happened? Would recommend someone to cheerfully greet customers, smiling/friendly waitresses, a manager coming around tables to greet & chat with customers, making them feel "welcome" & an evaluation of food quality! We hate to see a really good restaurant on the slippery slope of decline!
