Well, our server, ALEX, was fantastic. We really loved her. The hot, fresh bread, and the Baris salad were yummy. We particularly enjoy their house dressing mixed with just a bit of ranch. Four of us. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo was yummy yum. The lasagna was fresh and tasty. The chicken Marsala and the chicken ...idk...the one with artichokes were both very watery and not particularly appetizing, to be honest. Maybe they needed to drain off the pasta better? To start, the service is quick and very friendly. The ambiance is old school Italian and pretty nice for a dinner date. The food though is meh. The pasta tasted like buffet quality pasta and the sauces lacked flavor. If you are very hungry and don't have much money to spend on food, this might be the place for you. I'm inclined to agree with a previous reviewer who gave this place a 5-star review and said: "This is the Waco style of Italian food." Because it wasn't close to what I'd call 'authentic Italian food'. I ordered the lunch special of the day: Ziti pasta with tomato sauce, garlic rolls and a green salad all for only $6.99. My wife had an entree salad topped with chicken. Both salads were mostly iceberg lettuce that tasted like it had sat too long. Since my wife wouldn't each more than a couple of bites of her meal, I had some and agreed that the chicken was dry, over-cooked and bland. The other two in my party had the authentic 'spaghetti and meatballs,' which they politely told me was "okay." Three of the four of us love bread with Italian food, yet the majority of the rolls placed on our table were untouched. For me it was because the rolls were too salty. We left a lot of food on the table. This has been our go to spot for a couple of years now. Service & food has been great until today. We waited for an hour & finally asked about our food. We said it been an hour, what's going on. Waitress said "I know". After she didn't come right back, I went to the counter to ask to pay for appetizer & drinks. Some manager type person asked about the problem. I told her we've waited over an hour for food, I don't want it, & just want to pay for what we've received. She asked if I wanted in to go box, I said no. She proceeded to say if it's ready, then we have to pay for it. I said "if it's ready, we should have received it by now". The waitress then doubled back & said the ticket was lost. I would really want to give it a five star the food was great but two things. When I went to the bathroom the locks on the door weren't even lined up with each other. The door didn't lock properly. The booths were not secured down and there was a kid sitting behind me and my daughter. He would just not stop moving the seat with was really annoying. The food was really good! This is definitely one of those "small town authentic Italian restaurants" which are my favorite kind of Italian restaurants! They have a different lunch special each day, but I chose to order the Egg Plant Parmigiana as it's one of my classic favorites. The salad was brown & completely inedible... both of my children's Alfredo pastas (shrimp & chicken) looked like they had bathed in butter and were drowning in cream with very little actual food.
