A banner adorns the outer wall declaring Poppa Rollo's "Voted the best pizza in Waco" well we'll get to that in due course. First of all in a restaurant with all of perhaps 6 customers it should not take 5 minutes for someone to come and seat you. The whole point behind "soda" is that it should be carbonated, not flat as our Dr Pepper was served. On a visit to the rest room with my son, we passed through their "party room" which smelled exactly the same as a house that has for the past 50+ years been occupied by an elderly person who doesn't have the ability to decorate or renovate. I kid you not, I have smelled houses this way, the place stank literally. The A/C vents were filthy caked in dust and grime and on the "balcony" a stack of plates were situated directly infront of one. The Pizza? Greasy, floppy, soggy and over priced. Would I return? Not on your life! Someone call the health dept, I actually felt the need to come home, shower and change clothes after attempting to dine there. read more

Why does it seem like every time we order something to-go from Poppa Rollos, they get it wrong. We love the taco pie, but we always order it without lettuce and tomatoes. And every time we go to pick it up, it is literally covered with lettuce and tomatoes! They always tell us that it wasn't on the ticket, but the one they give us when we pay has the correct order. Also, why don't they have any adults working there? The whole place is nothing but college kids and high school kids and younger relatives of Roland and Mary? I have been gone from the Waco area for the last 20 years. People ask me... "Waco? Really? Other than the people you were friends with, is there anything you actually miss?" My answer is "Yes... Poppa Rollos" We ate there at least three nights a week. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to eat there about a month ago and this afternoon as I was traveling through. Worst pizza in Waco. Dry, soggy and awful crust. The lack of effort in the preparation and looks of what they gave me already put me off. Until I noticed that they completely messed my order up and when I went back to see if I could correct my order the cashier argues with me and tells me that's what I ordered. Just wanted to clarify a couple of things I saw in reviews this evening. I just want to assure the customers of Poppa Rollo's that we take flour, yeast, salt and water to create a dough that is rolled for each individual pizza as it is ordered. Our regular and whole wheat crust is created using a recipe we have had for over 45 years. The only pre-made crust that we have is the gluten free crust. Hope this clears things up a bit. This is my favorite place to eat, we don't even eat delivery pizza anymore. My son loves to play in the game room every time we go. We had his birthday party in the game room with 30 of our family and friends last year.. My husband and I attended a fundraiser in The Outback with over 100 people, I was surprised at how much room there was. On our date nights we like to come have a beer and watch Baylor play on their huge TVs. read more

There is always Laurel and Hardy, The Little Rascals, or The 3 Stooges playing on the TV and if not, just ask the staff and they will try to find what you're looking for (old comedies). This place is about an experience. If Rollos were in Austin it would have a 10 star review but here in Waco people feel entitled to Ritz Carlton service for gas station prices. The food is awesome and beer is cold. I couldn't ask for any better. I give it 5 stars as it sits. read more
