Bargello exceeded my expectations in regards to accommodating my reservation. I was visiting Asheville from out of town with a group of 8 people and had a difficult time finding a reservation anywhere else. I called Bargello and they were so friendly over the phone and happy to accommodate my large group. On the day of the reservation we had to change our reservation time due to difficulty in finding transportation from our Airbnb, and Bargello said no problem! Once we arrived at the restaurant we were surprised to see they put our group in our own section at a beautiful table. We have breakfast here when we come to Asheville because it's so good. The restaurant is cheerful and relaxing and their food is wonderful. I love the oatmeal with berries and pecans. my husband ordered eggs and potatoes. We usually order the avocado toast too; it has spices and radishes on top. This last time, Keisha was our server and she was so friendly and sweet. She made us feel welcome and at home. We look forward to coming back to the Bargello. read more

One of the best places in Asheville for brunch. The juice is fresh squeezed. Their short rib hash is unbelievable. Their espresso and awesome too. The whole experience is just very nice. This restuarant was in the hotel I stayed at during my trip. I loved the vibe and their menu selection. My friend and I started with the beet, quino and arugula salad, which was so fresh! I got the seasonal fish with farro for main. The best bite of the evening was the buttery cake with raspberry sauce. It was so good I ordered it two nights in a row. We just returned from our stay at the Kimpton and throughly enjoyed our meals at Bargello. Mediterranean is their focus, but I would just simply say that the food is prepared with expert care and the right dose of technique. The burger on their lunch menu: just do it. I also loved their hummus plate with homemade pita and accoutrements. I was super impressed with their wine list which featured a very impressive selection of French Bordeaux and Loire Valley wines. Their sommelier was very friendly and attentive and even made a point to say hello the next day while we were enjoying coffee. Class acts! We will definitely be back. read more

We had a wonderful experience in the restaurant and lounge. The staff was attentive and the kitchen was very efficient. Make sure you try the meatballs and the mushrooms, both amazing. Normally, I wait for 6-8 weeks after a new restaurant opens so that they can "iron out the kinks" on someone else. I am happy to say, I did not notice any "kinks". The atmosphere is comfortable, and the new hotel/restaurants/lounge is a welcomed addition to downtown Asheville. read more

We went there for a carryout dinner during restaurant week. They forgot one of our entrees (did not charges us, after we contacted them). The rest of the food was ok (bouliabaisse, a salad, a so-so NY strip). Dessert was nothing special.This is the second time we've dined there. First time was indoors. In general it is mediocre, over-priced food. (even at Restaurant week prices). They seem very impressed with themselves but I/we were underwhelmed. Asheville has so many outstanding restaurants it's hard to visit them all even when you live here. Bargello ranks at the very top, in our experience. The room is lovely: high ceilings, chic and inviting tables and booths, fresh flowers; everything to set the mood for a special meal. The servers work as team to provide attentive but not intrusive service. Our primary waiter, Matthew, magically appeared at our table whenever we needed him and was knowledgeable about the drinks and food menu. His recommendations were excellent. Our cocktails were beautiful and delicious. We shared a halloumi salad which was too big for the two of us to finish and was wonderful. Our main dishes were pan-fried flounder with a lentil and tomato sauce - terrific - and bouillabaisse served with pasta to ensure that every drop of the wonderful broth was savored. The bouillabaisse was probably the best we've ever had, all of the seafood (octopus, mussels, scallops, shrimp) was perfectly fresh, and the broth was saffron- scented heaven. The kitchen uses quality ingredients and doesn't skimp. We were too full for dessert, but are eager to return for that and also to try the very inviting looking cocktail lounge and small-bites restaurant, District 42, on the other side of Kimpton lobby space. read more

I was quite impressed with Bargello. Atmosphere was beautiful with elegant modern decor. Staff were very attentive. Prompt to correct a dish we did not like . Carrots had been served cold. They were reheated but lacked taste. Item was deducted from check and we were given a dessert on the house. The rest of the meal was delicious! The beet salad with goat cheese was my favorite. I also enjoyed the grilled octopus. My friend had the fried chicken piccata and the potatoes- both excellent. We shared the chocolate olive oil cake for dessert. This was our stop after we checked into the hotel. We had reservations, but on a Wednesday night it doesn't seem like you'd need them. It wasn't too busy, but on the weekend reservations are probably a must. Our food was absolutely delicious! I had the Cacio e Pepe. It was flavorful and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My fiancée had the brisket and that was great as well. The front desk knew that our birthday was Wednesday and must have informed the restaurant - so we were given a free dessert. I thought that was excellent customer service because we didn't tell anyone in the restaurant. We chose the Chocolate Olive Oil Cake and it was delicious as well. By chance happened up Bargello's as I was looking for Mediterranean food. I have had the good fortune of having traveled the world and had amazing culinary experiences. I must say this ranks amongst my top 5 favorites ever. The Israeli Salad was seasonal and spot on. The lightness of the food reminds me of travels throughout the Middle East. They use a hemp oil in their local salad. Which is quite unique. Drinks next door were also exquisite...although, they ere running low on some key alcohol like Teto's.
