Nice restaurant inside the Kimpton Arras. The staff were very kind but service was quite slow for us on a Friday night. We were expecting to be in and out in an hour but were there for 2 hours. Food was not bad. Our favorite was the octopus appetizer, tender octopus over a tasty bed of veggie and chorizo. We also ordered the bucatini carbonara which was tasty. The short rib pizza was a bit too saucy and salty for us. The broccolini side was good. We got the turtle cheesecake and it was quite heavy, I didn't realize it was a deconstructed cheesecake. Overall not a bad option and convenient if you are a hotel guest, but there are plenty of other restaurants nearby to try. read more

We went to Bargello for dinner with a big group! Overall the experience was good with very nice staff and great atmosphere! Vegetarian food wise, it was alright. We tried the primavera pasta, torteletti, and the peach arugula pizza. They tasted fine, but not memorable or very flavorful. We really liked the watermelon feta salad and we also liked the tiramisu for dessert but overall I think everything could've used more flavor. My husband surprised me with reservations for our 16th wedding anniversary and I was SO impressed! Kudos to Front of House - Hostess, Server and Runners were really great - attentive and responsive...and that's about all the positives I can muster. My wife planned what was meant as a lovely birthday dinner (it was for my 70th), but it was not to be. *She was really disappointed, even more so than the rest of us* "Music" was not in line with a place that brands itself as "Mediterranean-inspired casual fine dining". WAY too LOUD and just inappropriate for a dinner venue, unless the goal is to TURN TABLES FAST. Some fast adjustments to my hearing aid settings brought me some relief, but the rest of my group was very displeased with the ambience. Food didn't even come close to their description. 1) Ordered from the prex-fixe offerings of the day. Caesar salad dressing was almost non existent, and lacked flavor. I expect "creamy anchovy dressing" to taste like SOMEthing. One in the party asked for extra, and even that was bland. Plus, no offer of fresh pepper (and no salt or pepper on the tables.) 2) Entree - I ordered Bucatini Carbonara, which was drowning in a deluge of soupy, cream-laden sauce which was tasty but simply TOO much. There was enough sauce for twice the amount of pasta it was served over. Side note: the pasta was done very well and an ideal al dente. 3) Dessert - Tiramisu, the texture was spot on, but it was absolutely flavorless. At least the toffee and pumpkin seed brittle had some flavor, but were wholly out of place on this type of delicate dessert. Sure, maybe I should have ordered the "Pumpkin Cheesecake", but one member of my party did and was equally unimpressed. Overall, I can't imagine anyone dining here more than once, and I'd advise anybody who's looking for acceptable Italian food to go elsewhere. Carrabba's Italian Grill does a much better job on quality, and at a lower price point. read more

Bargello is located inside the Arras Hotel on the first floor. The restaurant got its name from the tapestries and upholstery that use Florentine needlepoint. The layout is really nice as it is an open concept and an open kitchen. I got the best table with a full view of the kitchen. The tall ceilings and all the windows let in a lot of natural light. They did a good job of spacing the tables out so it didn't get too loud. Matthew was my server and very friendly and made this a memorable meal. The menu has a Mediterranean flair to it. I started with the Grilled Spanish Octopus. I wasn't quite sure about the octopus as I had never had it before. But Bargello cooked it well and brought other flavors to compliment it. Then I had the bucatini cacio e pepe. Bargello makes the pasta in house. Originally I had planned to try a pizza as they have the hearth oven but I already had pizza that day so pasta it was. I liked that there was some space between the appetizer and the entree and that the entree didn't come out until I was finished with the appetizer. Even with the nice gap in between courses it was a lot of pasta so I left with some for another meal. I finished with the house made S'mores ice cream as I did need something sweet. They also had a cantaloupe sorbet that was tempting too but the chocolate won out that night. I will definitely dine at Bargello again. read more

Terrific little joint in the lobby of the Kimpton Arras. Mediterranean/Italian fare in an upscale space with an open kitchen and laidback Asheville vibes. The food here was actually quite delicious but the service ruined our experience. Our server, I believe his name was Matt, started off on a good foot- he seemed nice. But as our dinner went on, we realized he was trying to rope in some girl who was dining at the same time as us. He did not come around for ridiculous periods of time- we had empty drinks and water glasses most of our dinner. And SHOCKER, everytime I look to see where this guy is- he's taking to this girl instead of working. It was just crazy unprofessional. We didn't bring it up to managment as we just wanted to get out of there and it didn't seem like anyone cared to be working there. Food was surprisingly tasty, esp the octopus and the pasta with zucchini noddles. But I wouldn't go back to this place because of the horrible service. As guests at Kimpton hotel Arras, our party of 4 had breakfast vouchers worth about $76. We used it for a leisurely monday morning breakfast before departing from Asheville. Asheville has so many great breakfast places to choose from so my expectations here were on the lower side, but i was pleasantly surprised. Our voucher availed us 4 dishes and 4 coffees. During COVID, the restaurant, inside the Kimpton Hotel, has done a great job of social distancing tables and all the wait staff followed the necessary protocol. Sadly, they weren't really attentive to the tables. With regards to the food, our table had the Mafaldine Ragu (great flavor, just could have used a little more sauce since the pasta was so robust) and the Rabbit Porchetta with F&S Garganelli (really unique taste, however not quite what I would call a pasta dish. Very small amount of pasta and an overall same dish). For dessert, the Apple and Miso was very unique, and for the chocolate-lover, the Brownie Sundae fit the bill. read more

Went here for brunch with the family. I didn't realize it was going to be brunch but it was fine. We were their last brunch table before they closed to set up for dinner. Not the ideal time to go to a restaurant but there we were. Our server, TJ, came over immediately. He took our drink order and recommended a couple menu items. Bargello has finally opened inside the Arras Hotel. We went on a Thursday and the place was lively but not too crowded. It has a beautiful modern decor and is bright and airy. As appetizers, we ordered the fried romanesco, that came with a tasty red pesto. That was really excellent. We also ordered the beet salad, with red and golden beets, grapefruit sections and goat cheese. That was good but a little on the common side. Then we had the cacio e pepe pasta and the meat ragu pasta that I forgot the name. Both were outstanding! house made, perfect texture and perfect seasoning. I also ordered the "Mountain Air" a cocktail that resembles a French 75. Service was good, everybody was friendly and on top of their game. We didn't have room for dessert but will make sure we get them next time since they looked really good. read more

Each and ever single dish we ordered was super fresh and delightful. From the Grilled Spanish octopus to the Peo mussels to the CAPPELLINI ALLE VONGOLE were super fresh and tasty. Hats off the to five gold start team of chefs and staff. They did an excellent job of pacing with each dish. The wait staff were super friendly and knowledgeable with their recommendations. We highly recommend this location for a romantic dinging experience. This restaurant sets the the bar on every aspect of executing a well dining experience for any guest out of town. This place was an unexpected gem. I generally assume hotel restaurants will be overpriced for their quality, but this place delivered. We had the buratta and the carrot salad. Both were perfectly spiced, and the portions easily justified the price. We continued with the cacio e pepe, which was perfectly balanced. Finally the lamb torchon. The lamb was just barely too dry; the spanakorizo was new to me and I found it to be a perfect accompaniment. It's located right in the center of downtown Asheville. The ambiance is spectacular. The bar and restaurant have about a 30' ceiling giving this place an enormous feel. A very upscale restaurant, you'll be impressed with the service. We had a server named "Hunter" and we were relentless, all night. His service was impressive and the food was to match.
