WOW. This was, without a doubt, one of the best meals--and overall dining experiences--I've had in recent memory. Let's start with the food. Dinner is served as a prix fixe menu, but guests still have a say by choosing between two options for each course. I found this to be the perfect balance between ordering à la carte and enjoying a fully chef-curated experience. It gives diners just enough choice while allowing the kitchen to focus on executing a thoughtfully crafted menu. That focus is evident in every dish: the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and each course was flawlessly prepared. To make the experience even better, every menu item had a thoughtfully selected wine pairing that elevated each bite. Even for someone who isn't a wine expert, the pairings made a noticeable difference. And unlike many fine dining restaurants where you pay a premium only to leave hungry, Piccolina got the portions exactly right. Each course was perfectly sized, and by the end of the meal I felt completely satisfied without being overly full (okay, maybe a little overly full haha). The front-of-house staff was exceptional--warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling overbearing. The kitchen appeared calm, organized, and incredibly well-executed, with each course arriving at exactly the right pace: never rushed, but never leaving us waiting. The atmosphere was equally memorable: quaint, charming, intimate, and comfortable. The only feedback I have is this: PLEASE BRING YOUR TALENTS TO SALT LAKE CITY. We desperately need restaurants like this. And one more request--please publish a cookbook. I need to recreate that beet salad, the mafaldine, the cannoli, and the blackout cake because I'm already counting down until I can have them again. read more

This is an area that is build rebuilt to some extent; I don't know if the floodwaters quite reached this point but it's the art district area that felt the effects of Hurricane Helene very strongly. Fittingly, this restaurant adjoins an art space; the restaurant itself is tiny, only a couple of tables and bar seating facing the window. It's no wonder they require reservations for dinner, but I was able to get in for lunch. The lunch menu is quite small, but the quality is worth coming for. The salad I tried does a fantastic job of using kale as the basis for a more complex and interesting dish, and I was wrapping it up when my pizza arrived with perfect timing. The crust charred nicely, and their sauce was strongly tangy. Between my two plates, I had a fantastic mix of tastes and aesthetics. They had a sandwich selection as well, and I wished I'd had room to try the desserts. read more

What a great stop! Our family of 4 - 2 kids under 11 enjoyed the amosphere and food! With only just over 20 seats, this place was a little hard to get to around 1:00 p.m. on a weekday afternoon. You put our name in and walked around the multiple art galleries enjoying the scenery. After about 20 minutes, we were happily seated. We Dove right in to blood orange soda, lemon soda, the elderberry Spritz and a glass of White wine. The kids did a margarita pizza with pepperoni, I had the mortadella sandwich, more like a piada with pizza oven toasted bread. My spouse ordered the Rossi which had a compilation of several meats cheese and a lemony dressing topping of arugula. Both sandwiches serned with a handful of crispy potato chips. Everything was lovely. Service was fantastic. A server recommended the last two of the cookies. They offered the pistachio and the chocolate, glad they did because several people came in after asking about the cookies and they continually mentioned they were sold out. The restaurant is cozy, cute and friendly. The food is phenomenal. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We got seated at the bar type seating at the window. So pleasant with the window open. Ordered two sandwiches- the mortadella and the rossi. I lived the mortadella- bread was fresh, sandwich was delicious and interesting. Arugula, pistachio, lemon vinaigrette and mortadella. Loved it! I saved half for dinner tomorrow. My husband loved his mortadella sandwich as well. Friendly, attentive service. We ordered a pistachio cookie to share- potentially the best cookie ever! Highly recommend. I really want to try the multi course wine dinner. Can't wait to go back. I don't think I can stress how much I liked this place!! read more

Piccolina is a restaurant inside a collective art gallery, in the River Arts District. Their menu is small but everything is great. We've been there a couple times for lunch and have yet to try it for dinner. The space is airy and well lit with big windows facing Depot St. We shared the marguerita pizza with pepperoni and a sandwich both times. The mortadella sandwich is very tasty. They make their bread there. The pizza was delicious. Just the right flavors and the crust was perfect. We also shared a kale salad the second time we were there.. so good too. We didn't get dessert but got cookies to take home. They were also great. Service was attentive and friendly. While we were there, we saw a couple tables lingering long after the check arrived. And I didn't see or feel hurried by the staff at all. The restaurant is really small, so as a client, I would suggest being mindful of the time you hold a table, since that may allow the restaurant to serve more customers. They are doing a great job, and I am so glad to have that option at the RAD. read more

Piccolina, meaning "small one" in Italian, was named for the intimate and charming space in which it dwells. As I entered, semi-famished, I was greeted promptly and seated at a street-facing bar bathed in warm light and enlivened by the wondrous aromas taking flight from the nearby galley window. - Mind you, I consume kale only because I feel obliged to do so. But if one must eat this glamour-challenged garden step-child, the salad here, garnished thoughtfully with pistachios and plump sultanas as well as rich Parmigiano Reggiano and a delightful roasted garlic crumb, can pay one's debt to healthy living in a most agreeable way. - The pillowy moz and crispy-chewy crust of my margherita pizza were on point. But the standout was the sauce. This sauce, oh my. You could frolic among the vines in San Marzano, the blunted cone of Mt. Vesuvius in the distance, a zephyr from the Sea of Naples whispering through your hair, and you could pick a sun-ripened, ruby-red tomato from one of those vines, and take a lusty bite of it, and the taste would be no fresher, no more vibrant, than the flavor of this sauce. - Piccolina -- small space, big experience. read more

Spending a long weekend in Asheville from Washington, D.C., Piccolina was our favorite restaurant we visited. Opened just a few months ago inside an old meat packing factory, Piccolina is serving quality Italian food inside a cozy 22-seat space. My wife, eight-year-old daughter, and I visited for lunch around 1:30pm on a December Saturday. Here's our experience. 1) Food: To feed the three of us, we ordered the suppli, kale salad, pizza, prosciutto sandwich, and zeppoles with lemon cream for dessert. Literally every single dish was a home run. The suppli is perfectly cooked and melts in your mouth. My wife and I fought over bites of the kale salad, and the pesto on the sandwich was phenomenal. The sauce on the pizza stands out and the warm bites of the zeppoles will make you want more. Truly, they do masterful work. 2) Drinks: For lunch, they have a full drink menu, but my wife and I ordered the blood orange Italian soda. It was delicious and comes with a full glass of ice. 3) Service: It was excellent from the owners to the staff. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and clearly proud of the space they all are creating. 4) Space: It sits 22 people so it's cozy, but not overcrowded. The green colors and textures on the wall make it stand out. It's beautiful! 5) Area: It's in the River Arts District sharing a space with Trackside Studios, a gallery and space for 60+ local artists. There's street parking out front. read more

No I didnt take photos! The food was delicious and generous. We signed up for the prix price Saturday menu. Everything was spot on. Lovely soup, followed by a generous portion of pasta alfredo, then chicken marsala and a death by chocolate dessert. Cant remember its name. Very elegant meal although too much food, you just have to box when you reach your limit. Such a cute vibe and this place is going to be a serious neighborhood place to go.
