First, pool guy didn't bother to fully tighten the tension bolt that on the filter housing after cleaning them. We've been so confused as to why the pool looks so terrible full of leaves and nothing in the baskets. I finally got a day off and figured out why. No seal, no suction, no water movement = NO CLEANING! The tank pressure gauge was reading low so I turned the pressure relief valve. This resulted in the world's saddest psssss and no water when it normally sprays like a fire hose. Second, they were supposed to return and setup a pool service agreement but nobody ever came back. No calls, no follow up! They charged us $300 for nothing! Who knows if he even cleaned the filters! I don't have time to take it apart since it's Christmas!!! read more

Barefoot Pools redid our pool in early 2022. They did a great job preparing the pool, plastering it, installing a new filter, and a salt cell chlorine generator. However, the chlorine generator system has been a problem. The salt cell began leaking a steady stream of water. I told Barefoot and it took several weeks to get a replacement cell. Shortly afterwards that cell began leaking and was replaced with a new cell. This replacement cell now leaks. This system is unreliable and should be replaced. I am concerned that they will not do that and simply replace cells until the warranty expires. At that point I will have to pay to have a reliable system installed. This is an unpleasant experience and is why I gave them two stars instead of five. read more

Um, Wow!! My husband and I were honestly surprised at the timeliness and quality of our pool repair and resurfacing job done by Barefoot Pools this past month. The pleasantly surprising aspect of the entire project was the stellar communication from Shawn throughout the entire process. We thought that great customer service was a thing of the past since it's virtually impossible to even receive a call back from service companies these days, much less finding a service company that a) provides a detailed timeline of the project so we would know what and when to expect each step of the process and b) consistent calls the day before each visit to let us know that members of the team would be on-site the next day. Shocking....who does that any more??? Barefoot Pools!! Our pool was built in 1996 and had reached a point where cracks were expanding across our pool walls and across the bottom of the pool. Sections of the pebbletec had worn down and the whole pool was looking old. We bit the bullet and decided to have it completely repaired and redone. Shawn and his team helped us choose the border tiles, the top tiles, the color of the pebbletec, and the color of the step and ledge markers (which really pop and reflect sunlight!) We're not known for writing reviews, especially positive ones, but given the exceptional customer service and high quality of the results by the Barefoot Pools team, we really wanted to share such a positive experience with valley folks looking to repair and resurface their older pools. We honestly can't stay away from our pool now, even thought it's too cold to get in it. We keep looking at each other and talk about how it looks like a resort pool. Woot, woot! The challenge in writing this review is to adequately express how impressive our experience with Barefoot Pools was during the entire process of remodeling our large pool and waterfall features. It all began with our desire for an overall approach to diagnose the consistent loss of water that had been plaguing our pool for the past year. It was not large but noticeable in terms of the increased cost of chemicals compared to previous years, especially during our long summer. Not surprisingly, just about all of our friends that we spoke with about our situation had a "Pool Guy" that we should contact. We cast a wide net and did our research into those companies, most notably with the AZ Board of Registered Contractors. Some contractors came by, quickly listened to our issue and gave us an estimate on the spot. Several, never replied at all! One guy at a company not to be named stopped by 3 times, measured and re-measured, only to ghost us in the end. In the meantime, we had spoken with General Manager Chad at Barefoot Pools about a possible crack in the gunite. He made some recommendations to refer us to expert repair of the gunite. After finally securing a gunite pro at Structural Solutions of Arizona, we decided to call Barefoot Pools once again for the remodel work. We have been using them for many years now for occasional pool system maintenance. IT WAS THE RIGHT CALL. Barefoot Pools prepared a truly holistic approach to incorporating the gunite repair by Structural Solutions (there were cracks,) with checking plumbing, to remodeling the pool, to the proper chemistry of re-filling the pool which is critical for a beautiful surface. It began with Sales Manager Brandon who helped us design the remodel in their in-house showroom complete with an outside area with several actual pool and backyard scenes for a truly visual element to help in the new design. We were so impressed with Brandon's visual capabilities that the scope of work was increased to include a demo of the existing Flagstone deck that was replaced with an entire new deck and patio of almost 2000 sq. ft. of Travertine. With his creativity and vision, Brandon also suggested a new idea for designing and finishing our small 'river' spillway that leads from one of the rock waterfalls to the pool. The result is a stunningly beautiful 1x1 inch tile blue mosaic cascading river (photo attached). Once a contract was signed, we were turned over to Project Coordinator Shawn who furnished us with an extremely detailed list of the ensuing work with a timeline. Shawn was our main point of contact which was greatly appreciated. He was available to us any time we had a question or requested any changes. He communicated with us daily and kept us well informed and was willing to spend as much time as we needed during the process when it was time for the next step or a process decision. In addition, Shawn's very capable teammates Zack and RJ were vital to the success of this major remodel. Barefoot Pools even saved us money in re-thinking the potentially significant cost of the demolition and re-building of the large granite rock water feature that fed the aforementioned river spillway. The boulders were eroding and sending sand into the pool. Their creative idea was truly a case of thinking outside of the box. With this cost savings, we were able to add more Travertine, add new lighting and build a beautiful outdoor gas fire pit. Their in-house work crews were outstanding, especially the crews that put down the deck with Scabos Travertine, the pool waterline tiles and ledger stones on the raised spa. Everyone that has now seen the finished work has only one reaction - "WOW." The final walk-through was conducted by Chad who ensured in great detail that all of the work met our expectations. We would be remiss in not mentioning that Barefoot Pools owner Jose was also very much involved in this project. He visited us numerous times and added his vision and expertise to the overall project. On each visit, he humbly thanked us for the opportunity to help us design and build our backyard paradise. Our filter motor was in need of replacement. We contacted Barefoot Pools and the awesome staff member answering the phone asked for a picture of our system and said she'd get back to us shortly with a quote, which she did very promptly. We set up a service date and our technician arrived earlier than expected and very efficiently deconstructed and reconstructed our system with the newer, more energy efficient one. He quickly walked me through the wireless phone app that manages the filter motor, and we were back in operation! Finally. We finally have a completed, and safe, pool thanks to Barefoot Pools. We had our pool built not long ago, and shortly after start-up learned that the plumbing was not done correctly; including the main drain. We were, thankfully, able to hire Barefoot Pools to fix the pool. While some remodeling jobs are "cosmetic" or "elective," this was definitely a "medically necessary" remodel. The experience started with the ever-thorough and patient Brandon who took notes and pictures while putting together his estimate. He understood the things that needed to be fixed and created a detailed estimate with line items describing the work and cost. (PRO TIP: there is a 2% discount when paying with a check.) I visited their show-room in Gilbert and selected new Pebbletec interior and step tiles. Brandon helped me choose colors to compliment our existing waterline tile (he may have a photographic memory, because he remembered our exact tile and had it ready to compare alongside the pebble and step tile selections). I paid the deposit (25%) in late February and immediately got an invoice and an email saying: "Your project is set to kick off during the week of 4/8/24." While I didn't really expect that date would be honored, I was shocked that not only did they start draining the pool on 4/8/24, but now, just 16 days later, we have water back in the pool and are 100% complete! In 16 calendar days' time, the Barefoot Crew: 1) Drained the pool 2) Chipped out the entire interior 3) Met with experts on fixing the plumbing 4) Put in a new drain, put in a pop-up head, and moved a pop-up head 5) Replaced waterline tile that accidentally was chipped during the chipout 6) Rebuilt areas that were too crumbly in the pool 7) Sealed the areas of repair with Basecrete 8) Cleaned out all the debris from the pool 9) Shot the pool with new pebbletec and placed step tiles 10) Acid washed the pool 11) Refilled the pool with chemically balanced water 12) Started the pumps and added chemicals 13) Cleaned out the pool of Pebbletec slurry and replaced all the pop-up heads 14) Conducted an orientation explaining water chemistry and how to care for the new Pebbletec while it cures. PHEW!!! As far as the communication goes, within one day of starting the project, the owner, José, was on site and spoke with me a couple times (poor guy...I can ask a lot of questions, both relevant and irrelevant to the work, but he didn't seem to mind). I found him pleasant and knowledgeable; he knew all about our somewhat unique case and even walked with me into the chipped out pool to point out issues and answer questions. The Project Manager, Shawn, was friendly, communicative, not dismissive of my concerns, patient in answering questions and not once made me feel like a burden for wanting to understand the process. He called and/or texted and/or emailed me daily with updates. He and the Barefoot team even spent time with reps from Paramount (they design in-floor cleaning systems and plumbing schematics for pool builders around the world) in my pool mapping out placements of pop-up heads and addressing how to correct the main drain. (Shout out to the guys at Paramount...I know most people don't get to choose who designs their in-floor cleaning system, but if you have a choice, I recommend Paramount for the sheer effort and dedication they showed in helping us resolve this issue...an issue for which they were not at all responsible, yet they were beyond helpful in finding the problems and getting them fixed). There was only one minor hiccup in the process. Some wall tiles were accidentally removed during the chip-out. No one is perfect, and in our screw-ups we have an opportunity to demonstrate our character in how we resolve them. Barefoot Pools made no excuses, just simply apologized and within two days had the tile replaced (it's an exact match). Mistake made, acknowledged, rectified, and then we move on. Done. I am beyond thrilled to have a pool that will clean better and has a safe, VGBA-compliant drain (if you don't know what that is, I urge you to look up the Virginia Graeme Baker Act). I am so happy we were able to hire Barefoot Pools; they made what could have been a nightmare experience actually enjoyable. It has been a long road, but I can now get in the pool and appreciate it rather than worrying about it. I wish Barefoot Pools would BUILD pools too, but for now, I am glad they were able to "remodel" our pool. PS: They weren't the least expensive, but I was so impressed with Brandon's attention to detail during the estimating phase, I really felt they would do a good job. Barefoot Pools did a lot of work improving our pool in May, 2018, including resurfacing the pool and installing new tile. As stated in our previous review, we were happy with their work. This summer I noticed we had some grout come out from the tile. I thought I could fix it. Shoulder surgery slowed down my ability to attempt putting in new grout. I then realized I should just call Barefoot Pools and ask them to patch the grout. I originally spoke with somebody at Barefoot Pools who wasn't sure whether they would fix the grout. A day or two later, I received a phone call from Jose, the owner. He said they would take care of me. The next week, one of Jose's crews showed up and patched the grout in question and made sure there were no other issues with the grout. It is really nice to see a company stand behind their work. DO NOT GET YOUR POOL PUMP REPLACED BY THIS COMPANY!! In February 2022 my variable speed pool pump went out and I hired barefoot pools to replace it. They sent a team out and did the job quickly. Odd they took my old pool pump and issued no rebate or discount to me but anyways. Now July 2022 my brand new pentair variable speed pool pump began tripping my breaker box and wouldn't receive power longer than 5 minutes before tripping again. I had an electrician replace some old breakers but the problem continued. I called barefoot for help and they claimed to have contacted pentair to activate the manufacturers warranty, was told they will call me for next steps. It's been over a week and still no word from pentair. When I called barefoot to get Pentair's number, I was told to look online, barefoot doesn't have any contact number info for pentair, I would just need to wait for pentair to contact me. So I looked online & called pentair corp and they had no case opened in their system for my address. Had to personally submit a request to have my warranty activated & a technician sent out. read more

As that was the first service they provided I wasnt pleased and won't be moving forward with them as I'm not able to trust that the pool cleaners will do their job properly for the monthly fee and maintenance service that was promised. A true story of under promise and over performance. The deck crew had our pool deck and patio ground in less than 4 hours. So, where do I start. Essentially, I hired a contractor to help initially replace all my water line tile as well as the spa overflow tile. Long story short, a 1 week job turned into a nightmare (4-5 weeks by the time I'm writing this entry). The contractor ended up taking partial payment and simply left me hanging. I had a partially completed job and the parts that were completed were done terribly. I ended up calling a TON of different companies trying to get help in finishing the job. I was literally turned down multiple times (various reasons like the remodel job was too small etc). Since I'm a frequent Yelper, I decided to reach out to Barefoot Pools due to their ratings. I was initially in contact with Chad who listened to my situation and told me that the owner Jose would reach out to me. Shortly after Jose gave me a ring and said he'd be able to drop by quick to assess my situation on site. After meeting me, Jose pointed out a ton of issues with the existing work (beyond even what I had initially spotted) and recommended various options from completion of the remainder of the work that had been done or redoing it all. After working through the various cost differences as well as recommendations, I (with a heavy heart) decided to go with the redo of the remodel from scratch. Jose, didn't give me any promises but said that he would try really hard to get me in the schedule even though they were VERY busy (as did literally every pool company I called prior). I didn't set my bar of expectations too high, but over the course of the initial down payment, Jose and Barefoot Pools kept in touch with me constantly. A few days later, I was told that they were able to send a crew over to demo early in the morning. Barefoot Pools' crew was out as they promised early in the morning to start the demo. But to my surprise Jose stopped by as well to be there personally when the demo began. He pointed out some additional concerns and went out of his way to offer additional options for the concerns that came up (staining left by the contractor who walked away from the job, did I mention a nightmare?). We decided on acid washing to see if we could remove the stains, and literally later that day a crew was out to acid wash and I was given up to the minute updates on progress (turned out great so far as the stains look to be gone whew). I'll update this review as the remodel progresses, but from what I've seen so far from Barefoot Pools and Jose the owner, I think I'm in great hands. He's been professional, personable and timely. Sorry for the length but, like us, if you're about to drop a lot of money and are nervous about that hopefully this helps. First the work we did was to replacing about 700 sq ft of 'hodge podge'' patios with travertine (current patio was a combination of slab, tile patios, and 20 year old cool decking), a full resurface of the pool including new tile, and a reconstruction to convert our Jacuzzi into an awesome Baha step. Like many of the 5 star reviews on here I'll start by saying this family owned business was excellent from start to finish! I can't say enough about every detail of the work they did. I started by contacted 4 other pool companies for estimates. While I was on Yelp checking them out I ran across Barefoot Pools. Never heard of them but saw they were the only one that had more than 70 reviews and a solid 5 star rating (they're over 100 reviews now). After reading many reviews I added them to the 4 others to come and provide an estimate. Long story short 3 of the other 4 fell short (ugly pools never sent me their estimate!) so it was between another and Barefoot. I chose Barefoot for several reasons. 1st they're cost was lowest. We support family owned local businesses. Chad the estimator/sales person was excellent. 20 minutes into his estimate and him walking through details none of the others did I already made up my mind. He provided the estimate right then, before he left. The others came in 3-4 days later (for those that sent them in). From there Chad was very responsive to text, phone, and email with my many questions. He would send example pictures of other jobs to help explain certain things. Their design center is very welcoming. Chad immediately removed all the overwhelming fears we had when we first walked in by easily guiding us through the process of selection. he didn't push one choice over another and helped us make selections we were sure of. He then introduced us to Shawn who took over from there with ordering and scheduling all activities of the work. Jose (the owner) also came by several times as the various crews were here and let us know what's next, and answered any other questions we had each time. I can't say enough about Chad, Shawn, Jose, and all the crews that came. They were all very respectful and professional. All very responsive with texted/calls throughout. Before the resurface we told them we have a 4 foot crack at the bottom of the pool and didn't know if it was just on the surface or all the way through. Unfortunately it was all the way through. But they were able to cut out the crack, fill it, let it cure, and seal it before the resurface. We also added more travertine and curbing. Even with these adds (they were not easy adds) they stayed on the overall schedule and finished when they said. Each time we added something they immediately provided a written estimate for each. The final cost was exactly the total of the estimates, no hidden costs at the end. Shawn came by this morning for the final orientation and even dropped off a goody bag with beach towels and other swag. Overall, they did what they said and when and finished on time. Barefoot Pools resurfaced our pool, replaced the coping, and replaced our old concrete deck with limestone pavers. From our initial appointment with Chad to select products to the completion of the project, I could not ask for a better experience. We were provided with dates and information for the construction process, which were adhered to completely. Shawn and the entire crew, including Jaun, Zach and RJ, communicated with us every step of the way and were a pleasure to work with. The crew arrived as scheduled, were courteous, and careful with the existing landscape. Chad came out for the final inspection and spent time instructing us on the start up and maintenance of our new pool.
