YE Gurl Says: A Lucky Find During Barcelona's Independent Restaurant Week Place:Barcelona (Independent Restaurant Week Find) Date: March 2026 Sometimes the best meals are the ones you didn't plan. A casual drop-in while exploring Barcelona turned into a full experience thanks to Independent Restaurant Weeks--and not just a few days... weeks. Now that's how you support your local restaurant scene. We happened upon a spot participating in the $45 prix-fixe menu, and without hesitation, we were in. Since we lean pescatarian/vegetarian, we navigated the menu accordingly--and honestly, the options held their own. First Course Options Included: * Gazpacho (chilled tomato, cucumber, olive oil) * Ensalada César with aged manchego and guajillo crouton * Sopa de Ajo (garlic soup with jamón, egg, saffron) Second Course Highlights: * Paella de Barcelona (classic mix with seafood and meats) * Paella Roja (beetroot sofrito, beans, cauliflower, fenugreek yogurt) * Salmon with leeks, olive tapenade, asparagus, mushrooms, crème fraîche * Chuleta (pork chop with a full composed plate) Dessert Options: * Tres Leches de Fresa (strawberry three milks cake) * Johnson's seasonal sorbet or ice cream * Plato de Quesos with figs, lavender honey, and rosemary crostini We opted for the pescatarian and veggie-friendly selections, and the standout for me was the Paella Roja--a creative, earthy twist that didn't feel like a compromise. Balanced, flavorful, and thoughtful. The structure of the meal was clean, no substitutions (respect), and paced in a way that let you actually enjoy each course without feeling rushed. YE Gurl says: Stumbling into Restaurant Week while traveling is a win every time--but Barcelona doing it for multiple weeks? Even better. It's a reminder that some of the best culinary experiences happen when you stay open, go local, and let the city surprise you.

Had such a fun time at Barcelona w/ my friends. Ambiance on the patio was amazing, service is great, and the food was very creative! Loved the flavors, and tapas are a great way to try a lot of different things. Overall such a great experience & cannot wait to come back, another great GV spot!

I honestly don't understand the hype surrounding Barcelona. While the space is beautiful, the food was mediocre at best. We started with the bread, which was served cold with cold marinara--hardly the warm, soft start you'd expect. We moved on to the shrimp, papas bravas, and cauliflower au gratin, and none of it hit the mark. The shrimp was fine but didn't justify the price or the small portion. Both the potatoes and the cauliflower were incredibly bland; I had to drench the potatoes in salt, and the cauliflower sauce felt like a plain cream sauce lacking any real spice or depth. Maybe it was just an off night, but for the price point and reputation, I expected much more flavor.

If you're looking for great food, drinks and the perfect summer patio, you need to check out Barcelona! Their newly remodeled patio has all the vibes and you'll want to hang out there all night with a glass of sangria or wine! The service is excellent & professional, & the entire ambience of the place truly makes you feel like you're in Spain All of the tapas are great for sharing; the steak & shrimp were both so delicious! The Paella is a must! All of the different variations look and sound phenomenal, and the carne paella was incredible - go give them a try!

Sub de Costillas

Barcelona's interior is beautiful and so is its patio. For a lunch date, we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful environment. The lunch menu has sandwiches w/sides that aren't available on the dinner menu, and we got two winners. The Sub de Costilla was excellent, and the Bocata was pretty good, too. We wanted to try the patatas bravas, so it was a pleasant sight to see them as a selectable side for our "Emparedados" (as the sandwiches were labeled on the menu). They had an interesting take on a Tres Leches cake, too. The cake wasn't as drenched as some other versions, but the core flavor was there. Finally, our server was great. The entire experience was great.

I sat at the bar at Barcelona, and the bartenders were the best part of the experience. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional. I also had the best dirty martini I've ever had there. We ordered several tapas, including the Jamon y Queso, Empanadas, Coliflor Gratinado (which the bartender recommended), Camarones al Ajillo, and the Costillas. The cheese plate was good but I hate bread that breaks your teeth. The empanadas were very bready, crispy buttery delicious bread. But not much depth. The sauce was very good. The cheesy cauliflower was the standout and the only dish we finished completely. The shrimp was fresh but simple. The braised short rib was rich and flavorful, but heavy and I didn't find myself reaching back for more. Overall, the food was good but didn't stand out enough to bring me back for the same meal. The bar experience and service were excellent, and I've heard the patio is especially nice, which I'd consider trying in the future.

Filete de hierro plano

Made a reservation to come by for dinner one evening. The drinks were good. I had window seat. Not that strong and not too sweet. Perfect! We shared the verde paella, filete de hierro plane, and the roasted vegetables. Portion sizes seem kinda small ish. Food seemed high quality but I wasn't impressed. Decent. Not the most flavorful. The paella was unique though. It was vegetarian and the beans added a nice texture to it. Staff was nice. He explained the menu and what was popular. My friend comes here all the time and told us to get the empanadas for next time. Really nice setting. It was a bit cold, otherwise it would've been nice to be out in the patio. Seems like a great place for wine. We mostly had cocktails but wine would pair really well with the dishes. We found parking almost a block down. Easy to find parallel spots around here.

The most wonderful experience for our anniversary. Ethan was awesome. Super professional and friendly and thank you for the champagne! It has been years since we've been here and we were reminded after this visit we need to come back more often.

My first time here and what an amazing place! They have happy hour at the bar only. And since it was a Friday rest assured there were no seats to be found. Hint: come early The service was good. No complaints at all. They are certainly doing something right since they have been here for a long long time. I am putting Barcelona on my places to return list. Outstanding food and decor.

Amazing as usual. You want top end Spanish cuisine, this is it! Scallops Vieras has to be one of the top dishes in Columbus. I like that it's been on the menu for 25 years. 5* food and menu selection, service, environment, wine list. Any city would be proud to have a restaurant of this quality, and we have it here in Columbus.

The patio is my favorite feature! The food was outstanding. Highly recommend checking it out before the weather changes! Reservations are a must! #Patio #Food #Reservations #Weather

Very good overall. Great service, lovely ambiance, and tasty food. The only reason to drop a star is that while the food was very tasty, every dish was very heavy -- starting with their bread, which was delicious but greasy to the touch. The short rib was fall of the bone delicious, but again the sauce was extremely creamy. The Barcelona paella was excellent and also the exception but it could have been helped with a touch more salt. Nonetheless, excellent meal and we look forward to returning.

Drink

Our server was Ghadeer and she was very sweet, she helped us decide on what to eat and everything was delicious ! I recommend sitting on the patio great vibes :)

Happy Hour at the bartop Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00-6:00pm. $6 drinks including housemade sangria, wine, draft beer, liquor and craft cocktails. Discounted hot and cold tapas from the kitchen as well.

What is in the dipping oil that they bring out with bread? It's tomato something and possibly the best thing I've ever had in my life!!!!! I seriously need to know what it is!!

Hello, it's a housemade tomato vinaigrette. :)

It has that classic, elegant vibe with white tablecloths and really pretty lighting, but still feels warm and not too over-the-top. It's one of those places where you instantly feel like you should be celebrating something. I've also been for brunch and their brunch menu is really good. Definitely not just basic options. Waters were always full and the recommendations were like no other. Ambiance/Atmosphere: inside is a stunning old school bar and dimly lit steakhouse. Truly elegant and beautiful. This is a lovely date night and a special occasion is a must here. Food: 1. Tuna tartare is light and fresh. The tuna is soft and delicate. The avacado is creamy and adds a richness. The sauce is tangy but packed full of umami. Rice chips are light and salty I'd recommend. 7.5 2. Burratta is on crispy toast. The burratta is creamy and smooth. The jam adds a sweetness and the hot honey adds a beautiful spice. The pistachios add a crunch and flavor. I'd recommend. 8 3. Truffle tots aren't all that crispy. But soft and well seasoned. The Parmesan adds a salty nutty flavor. The truffle sauce is rich and creamy with a beautiful truffle flavor that isn't overly done. If they were crispy it would be a 10. I'd insist. 9.5 4. Bread service is alright. The sourdough isn't all that strong with flavor. 4 the chip thing is crunchy with an interesting flavor. Not my personally favorite. 3. The butter is very well whipped and smooth. The butter is really good. Butter makes it 5. Wagyu ribeye is incredible tender. Melts like butter and the tallow butter on top adds an extra layer of richness. It's well seasoned and very lightly as it doesn't need a lot. The beef does all the talking. It touches your tongue and melts away. I'd insist. 10. Dipping the ribeye in the truffle sauce from the tater tots adds an even richer flavor and Creaminess. It's very rich but worth awhile if you enjoy strong flavors 6. Onion strings are soft in a well seasoned and flavored onion strings. Best onion strings I've had although I haven't had many. Very good combo adding the sweetness of the batter with the rich buttery Wagyu 7. NY strip is tender but overly salted. You just taste salt. I wouldn't recommend. 3.5 8. The contender was strong with tequila but pushed the chocolatey coffee flavor strong. The bitter sweetness matched pleasantly for a nice sippable drink during drinner. I'd recommend. 9. Chocolate mousse light and refreshing. Decadent and smooth with. Rich chocolate flavor. Chilled like ice cream and not to sweet. I'd highly recommend. 8.5 10. Key lime pie is custardy and smooth. Rich and creamy. The lime flavor is prominent but not over done. The gram cracker crust is crispy but chewy. Buttery and slightly sweet. Best key lime pie I've ever had. I'd insist 10

From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone for what would become an unforgettable dining experience. Our server, Lacey delivered hospitality with the kind of effortless grace that can't be taught. She anticipated needs before they were spoken, guided us through the menu with confidence, and maintained a warmth that made our table feel like the only one in the room. Wine & Cocktails: A Study in Balance and Craft The wine selection was superb -- thoughtfully curated, expressive, and perfectly paired with the richness of the evening's dishes. The cocktails were equally impressive, crafted with precision and a clear respect for balance. Each sip felt intentional, layered, and celebratory. The Paella: A Showstopper But the true star of the night was the paella -- a dish so masterfully executed it deserves its own ovation. The rice was tender yet structured, infused with deep saffron warmth and kissed with just enough socarrat to make any purist smile. The seafood was impeccably fresh, each component cooked to its ideal texture. It was the kind of paella that silences a table, not out of politeness, but out of reverence. When the chef personally came out to greet us, it only reinforced what the dish had already made clear: this is a kitchen led by someone who cooks with both technique and heart. A Birthday Elevated My husband orchestrated the evening beautifully, and Sidebar rose to meet the moment with finesse. Our guests were genuinely impressed -- not just by the food, but by the seamless choreography of service, ambiance, and attention to detail. It felt less like a dinner and more like a curated celebration Final Thoughts Sidebar Columbus delivers the rare combination of exceptional cuisine, polished service, and heartfelt hospitality. The paella alone is worth crossing the city for, but the entire experience -- from Laceys attentive care to the chef's personal touch -- transforms a simple night out into something memorable. For anyone seeking a dining experience that feels both elevated and warmly personal, Sidebar stands confidently at the top.

I thought she was joking, but she was not. (I learned when the bill came that my small martini cost 21 bucks. When I told the server at one point that I've never seen a martini in a cordial glass before, she informed me with some attitude, "It's still three ounces." I confirmed that I wasn't challenging her, but simply commenting on the non-traditional glass. Later, I ordered a diet coke. "We have Boylan's" she told me. "If it's a diet cola, that will be fine." When she brought it, she twisted the lid, poured most of the soda in my glass and took the bottle away with the remaining soda. I called her back after I'd taken a sip and said, "This tastes like rootbeer." Again with what seemed like attitude, she showed me the bottle and told me "it says diet cola." The server interrupted us at our table multiple times, reached over us to serve us, and took away plates we were still using. It felt less like fine dining "service" and more like what you would expect at a church dinner. The server was abrupt and seemed disinterested in trying curate a positive experience. The food, to be clear, was quite good, but that was the extent of the success for the evening. The menu prices would make sense if the service was above reproach, but it was NOT excellent service. Had the place been packed out, it might have made more sense that the service was compromised, but we actually commented on how light the attendance seemed to be for a Saturday evening. My hope is that the management might consider more staff training (or adjust their "fine dining" prices to match the service.)
