My husband and I wound up here after attempting to go to the "Other" cupcake place in Phoenix, only to find it was closed - for a MONTH AND A HALF! Anyway, Barb's is AMAZING! Super friendly staff that makes you feel welcome and greets you with a smile... And although I am typically ALL about red velvet cupcakes, I went for a cosmo - and it was nothing short of delicious. My husband had a mini cheesecake with the "choose your own topping" and he said it was awesome too. I think that for all future cupcake runs we will be headed to Barb's! read more

This was my first visit but it was well worth it. I came on Fat Tuesday for the Pączkis and they were delicious! There was a large variety of fillings (including blueberry, apple, pineapple. apricot and my favorite, custard) and I was able to try a few I had never had before. For the price, they were a good size and the quality was superb. I'll definitely be back! read more

Last minute cake order for boyfriends birthday. Phenomenal job. Design and timing were amazing. I will continue going to Barbs for all of my "sweets" read more

Terrible! The day before our social distance wedding, we go to pick our wedding cupcakes and they had BRIGHT PINK FROSTING on them! We had confirmed earlier this week that they were supposed to have big white roses with clear glitter on top. They said to come back in a hour. We came back and they had scrapped off the pink frosting and put on some slap-dash messy white roses and green leaves. There was even left over frosting scraped on to the wrapper of the cupcakes. THEY WERE A HOT MESS. THEY LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE PIPED WITH A ZIPLOCK BAG. The store clerk couldn't have cared less. He just said "oh. Sorry. We can't redo them." He even pulled out our order form and to verify that we did in fact order cupcakes with white roses, not that pink frosting. We left. I was in tears and without wedding cakes. We went to a different bakery called "a Bakeshop" on 16th street and Bathany home. They were able to make us BEAUTIFUL cupcakes with white roses and gold flakes THE SAME DAY. Will never go back to barbs after ruining my wedding cupcakes. read more

The COSMOPOLITAN cupcake is by far my favorite cupcake ever, Totally worth the 40 minute drive I have to make every time I get a craving LOL!! I don't say that lightly, my husband and I travel a lot and one of the first things I do when we travel is find the best cupcake place in the area to try but no matter where I go or how many cupcakes I try this is still my favorite cupcake EVER!! Thank you barbs bakery!!! read more

I've gone to barb's for years. The owner is very nice and everyone in there is helpful. The donuts and cupcakes are delicious but what even better is the cake. The pink champagne is my favorite I get that most often when I order a cake. It's so light and always moist. I didn't give them five starts because a few cakes I've ordered the decorating was not great. Twice I have had to ask it be redone. I have also gotten cakes with beautiful decorating just like I ordered but it's hit and miss on the decorating. So I'm in for the taste of the cake. read more

Ooey gooey coffee cake. You have to have it. My office has a tradition of BYO-Birthday cake and someone brought in this awesomely delicious dessert in for theirs. It's an ultra moist coffee cake with a crusty outside. Also delicious, their red velvet cupcakes. The frosting is not overdone and over-rich. read more

There's not much more to say than has already been said, so I'll be brief. Barb's is such a great bakery. Their cupcakes are eye candy and taste even better than they look. If you're a fan of red velvet, please be sure to try one of theirs - they are wonderful! When they haven't sold out, Barb's decorated sugar cookies are awesome. The cookie itself isn't very sweet, but the icing more than makes up for that. Enjoy! read more

Omg I had a serious craving for cupcakes.. And I'm not a typical cupcake eater so I googled closest cupcakes and this popped up. I decided to try it out and the staff id's nice, clean place and pretty desserts. I am so bummed at myself because I didn't take pictures. So I ordered the strawberry cheesecake cupcake and delicious!!! I also ordered the chocolate cupcake, carrot cake, and a decadent chocolate petite I think that was the name... So sorry I forgot. My mom devoured it and said it was bomb! My dad had the carrot cake said it was good.. I would definitely come back. read more

Barb's Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

First of all, I was expecting to be greeted by Janelle Evan's mom Barbara, but alas I was not. :( In all seriousness, the bakery was cute and the goods were relatively good. The woman behind the counter seemed taken aback by friendliness so much so that she forgot a pastry of mine that I paid for. I'd go back if I were desperate, but not on a regular basis. read more

Being a sweets fanatic, it's not rare that I meet a dessert that I like, but it is rare to meet a dessert I absolutely LOVE. I am extremely picky about what I consider to be a really great dessert item, specifically with cake (which happens to be my absolute favorite food!) When Valentine's Day rolled around this year, I told my fiance that all I wanted was a good cake, and he absolutely delivered by finding Barbs Bakery. We ended up ordering a whole carrot cake (yes just for the two of us haha), that I was to pick up at noon on Valentine's Day. Now I should note that my 5 stars doesn't just include the phenomenal cake we received, but also includes the great service we received! I was running a little late to pick up the cake, and they were super busy on Valentine's Day, but when I called to see if I could reschedule my pickup (rather last minute, mind you), they were so absolutely accommodating and sweet about it. When I got there, they actually asked if there was any complimentary writing I would like on it, so I had them add "Happy Valentine's Day!", which was cute and lovely. I also couldn't resist snagging one of their heart shaped sugar cookies with icing, which was so incredibly delicious. The REAL rockstar here though was that carrot cake. Ohhhh my gosh, it must have weighed no less than 10 pounds haha. It was super moist & dense, with plenty of delicious buttercream/cream cheese frosting. Carrot cake can be a little tough to master, but this one had the perfect blend of spices, carrot shreds, and walnuts to make it absolute perfection! I will definitely be going to Barbs for any future cake needs in the future! read more

I was searching for a bakery to make a cake for a friend's birthday, and after a few places leaving me thinking about a pre-made grocery store cake, I walked into Barb's. Wow. The staff was SO friendly and helpful. Very willing to work with me to get a beautiful cake within my budget. And the cake was BEAUTIFUL! It received so many compliments at the party. As beautiful as the cake was, it didn't even compare to how delicious it was! Yum!!! Not to mention, they gave me free donuts when I picked up the cake. It doesn't get any better than that!! I will DEFINITELY use Barb's for all my future bakery needs!! read more

Their buttercream cake looks SO DELICIOUS that I don't know if it'll make it until our party on Saturday. A big thank you to everyone!

I'm looking for a birthday cake for my coworkers just happen to stop in here I have to say it's kind of sad this place would have a lot more potential if the service is better I walked in there was nobody at the counter which is fine but three people looked at me I said hi to them they never even acknowledge me and they work there after being in about 10 minutes I was getting ready to walk out and finally someone lady got off the phone to help me she was nice fine decide on the cake chocolate mousse the strawberry cake was really good on the best cakes I've had in a long time strawberry and chocolate how can you go wrong with a chocolate ganache on top not bad price either I think it was 25 bucks or so not bad also got an apple fritter that was probably one of the worst apple fritters I had not sure if he even was an apple fritter so definitely stop and get cakes hopefully service will be better next time read more

Hands down the best cupcake I have ever had in my whole life. The Cosmo Cupcakes are to die for! The chocolate ones are amazing. A friend of mine had the Cheesecake and said it was pretty amazing as well. I brought these to my trainers at the gym for a cheat day and they all went crazy over them. I even traded a dozen of them for some free training sessions, LOL! Everytime I go in to the gym they all bug me about bringing them cupcakes. I wont go anywhere for cupcakes now but Barb, They have ruined me for life :) THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Just had a Barb's Bakery tiramisu OMG that was "da bomb" should had ordered this for my b'day last week best I've ever tasted!!!

Shit, shit and shit. Barbs has made awesome cakes for my kids birthdays over the past 4 years. This year was a shit show. I asked for a baseball bat shaped cake with my sons "Happy Birthday #17" written on it. Looked like Captain Caveman's club. Birthday wishes written on inside panel below the cake. Oh boy, the cake. Or not a cake. A disgusting rolled 3 layer abomination of cake, with sugar frosting. I had 9 kids over for the party. None are more than 1 bite. Oh yeah, this was a $120 cake. Sawdust and sugar. Barbs has changed in some way & not good. Oh yeah, nice gigantic SOFTBALL instead of the BASEBALL I requested. Assholes. read more

I chose BB's after many hours of researching the best bakery to create/bake my mom's 80th B-day cake. Let me tell you, it was exactly like the picture I emailed them and tasted fantastic! By the way, I was doing this all the way from South Texas so....I felt like I was taking a huge chance based on prior Yelp reviews. Once I saw the cake, I was so tickled pink---just like the cake! My first phone call was just an inquiry and the customer service was perfect! I highly recommend Barb's Bakery for any event and if I lived in Scottsdale it would be my go to cake store! Thanks BB for making my mom's 80th B-day cake perfect! read more

Barb's Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

we already loved this place (pink champagne petit fours yessssssssssss) but i had to come give them a good review for pulling through at the last minute and saving a family birthday. i promised my sister a fancy cake for her 30th birthday, and when i went to order they told me that orders were closed for the weekend (this was on tuesday) due to being short staffed and overbooked. i was very sad. i stopped in on saturday just to check (and get something else since it is all great) and they just so happened to have an extra pink champagne cake! i was so happy, the family loved it, thank you so much read more

I LOVE BARBIE!!!! BARB'S BAKERY THAT IS!!!! Happyland abounds, They have a huge assortment of goodies at fair prices that allow you to try a variety w/o gouging your pocket book. I tried a Lemon cupcake, delicious. lemony-goodness with lemon curd surprise baked right into cupcake. I love surprises in my cupcake! I also tried a ice cream coned shaped sugar cookie that smelled like a sugar wonderland & was so cute & delicious. The cookie's price was worth it in the smell alone! The actual cake of the cupcake here is really moist and some of the best cake I've had. read more

I called a few days before my arrival into Phoenix and Barb's bakery had no hesitation in creating a last minute cake for my husbands birthday. I highly recommend one to check them out. The cake was deliciously made! The only complaint I have is that I did not have them create an additional cake. Thumbs up!! read more

Barb's Bakery - We enjoyed every bite! Thumbs up to Barb's! - Bakeries Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I recently used Barb's for my daughters 1st birthday. The ordering process was a tad bit difficult so I highly recommend going into the bakery to place your order as I did all of my over my via phone and email. Once I arrived to pick up my cake, I was put at ease when my cakes came out. They were as close to what I had imagined and I was grateful for that! But beyond the decor/design of the cakes - THE TASTE WAS AMAZING! Best cake I've had in a long time! We had a marble cake with fudge filling and buttercream icing! The smash cake was just vanilla with buttercream and was far too sweet for the baby or guests to enjoy. But the marble cake was EXCELLENT! read more

If there was a way to give them a 0 star review they would get it for their rude and unprofessional staff. I have been going to barbs for over 30 years, however it's not the same bakery as it was 30 years ago. Call before you go because their website is highly inaccurate. After driving an hour plus to go there to be confronted by their rude staff it will be the last time my family goes period. read more

The Champagne cake is marvelous! The presentation is beautiful too. It's a drive from the West Valley but worth it.

The cake is so good and looks great. I ordered a large cake for a work celebration and asked the person on the phone to recommend the flavors. I emailed some design ideas, and it looks as nice as the pictures I found online. I'm very happy with the cake and everyone is enjoying it! read more

I called them recently to order a carrot cake, and the woman who answered the phone said they were simply too busy and I'd be better off going to Costco! I was really quite shocked since this place was recommended to me by a friend. Frown. I won't call them again. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been a faithful customer since 2011 and when I went into the bakery today was treated like dirt. I wanted to place and order for cupcakes for a graduation party in May the lady who waited on me was disengaged, poor customer service and did not know about the products. I purchased two cupcakes which were hard and it just did not feel like the Barb's my family and I have grown to love since moving to Phoenix, AZ. I found another bakery Sugar Jam Cookies in Scottsdale who treated us like royalty so they will take care of our baking needs from now on. read more

OH MAN!! I am seriously addicted to their Pink Champaigne Petit Fours (TO DIE FOR!!!), and their frosted sugar cookies are a big hit around the office! I haven't gotten anything here that hasn't been fantastic! One of the best tiramasus I've had in a long time, and their cupcakes rival Sprinkles all day long! Along with the delicious treats and beverages comes generally GREAT customer service, the gentlemen that work in the afternoon are super friendly and helpful! I did, unfortunately, have one bad experience with the woman they have working there Mon, Tues, Wed. mornings, she was not pleasent or welcoming in any sort of way, and honestly made me feel like I was rather inconveniencing her by being there. I was SO shocked by the whole experience since I've been going in pretty regularly for a couple months now and had never had anything negative to say, until then. I remember thinking, "Geez, I sure hope that's NOT Barb, and if it is, perhaps she's best suited for strictly baking...in the back...as far away from customers as possible!" LOL So, I do definitely recommend Barb's for cake and cookie lovers alike, you will DEFINITELY score big points with friends, family and co-workers!! Although, I would encourage all my sweet toothed brethren out there to not go Mon, Tues, Wed. mornings, so as to avoid the cracken, she's just awful! Bon Apetit!! read more

I hadn't been to Barb's in probably 10 years and decided to stop in on my way home from a morning outing--I am so glad I did; but I went a little crazy (thank goodness everything freezes well). I am so impressed with the gourmet cupcakes and the muffins. I have never tasted muffins as good as Barb's--especially the Morning Glory (carrot) and Bran. The bran muffin is the best ever--most taste like cardboard; but not this one--it was delicious. Everyone in the shop is friendly and so helpful--you can tell they care about their customers and appreciate your business. Do stop in sometime, I guarantee that you will be hooked! read more

I just a rediscovery of this place. Had retraining classes at work and someone picked up some donuts. Absolutely YUMMY!!! Then found out they make cronuts! Had to do a stop in for some cronuts.
