It's my favourite food experience in Montreal. The service is relaxed so expect to wait a while if you are coming for food. I've been here twice and blown away both times. They serve a unique my motor which is a mixture of cider and orange juice. I had the duck burger for dinner and we came back from brunch where I had their hangover platter which is basically everything. French toast, sausage, bacon, toast, crepes, eggs and ham. The ham is a show stopper. It's so delicious. And the duck burger. Well that was like having a religious experience. For only $15 you get a large portion of smoked duck with mushrooms and cheese on a hamburger bun. It's so juicy and flavourful. I can't do it justice here you just have to try it.

If we lived here this would be "our" usual go-to, I think! The poutine was excellent (and even reheated well the next day!), the fries by themselves excellent, and my daughter said she had the best Caesar salad ever here. My pal and I workout down the street so I've had the pleasure of frequenting the spot semi-regularly on its quieter nights. As several reviewers have mentioned, the beers are hella cheap here. It's also worth mentioning that the majority of the beer is house brew and it's pretty good (particularly for the price). Given this feature of their drink prices comes the downside to this place: it gets PACKED. And not in a fun way. When this place gets full people are piled up on each other making it really difficult to get around. I also find that the crowd changes to unsavoury characters the more the night carries on. Once you hit peak business hour at this place it kinda feels like a gross frat house party. But back to the positives. The food is really accessible and pretty affordable (much like the drinks). My two go-tos are the grilled romaine salad and the tartar (the appetizer format is a perfect small meal and it comes with a salad). They used to have a larger menu with more pub menu-type options but I can still appreciate the variety offered now. Finally, I should mention that I find the service pretty variable. When they're really packed you can be waiting quite a while for your server and you can only order at the bar if you're seated there. After checking reviews and previous posts on their Facebook page, I see they used to offer more burger options and even tacos but these have been removed. We came here on a Friday evening around 6pm, it was already full but we managed to find a table and spent the next couple hours enjoying ourselves for the most part. The atmosphere is hip, the banquet seats were comfy and everything we ordered tasted great. We tried their pogo mac and cheese which is deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, topped with green onions, bacon and sour cream, served with fries. This was decadent and very fitting for "bar food". We also got fried chicken, falafels and poutine which were equally delicious. The food is very salty so you want to drink more. The prices are a little steep for how small their portions are and I also realised that the 3$ beers are not the best deal in town, if you want a full pint, you'll need two, so the price ends up being similar to other bars. This is however a great way to sample the variety without breaking the bank. The biggest problem we had was with slow service. Now I haven't been to a bar in a while and understand that perhaps they are not trying to turn tables as quickly as servers would in a regular restaurant, however this place was severely understaffed. Le Blind Pig can seat 80 people and there was only one server + the barman for the entire evening. We waited a long time to get our order taken and even longer if we just asked for a glass of water. Despite the slow service, I really like the vibe and the food, this bar is a great addition to the neighborhood. I would give it another try since it was overall fun. With that single letter change comes a menu of --- dinner --- proportions; From tasty and smart appetizers like beet hummus and Chorizo pops to a signature (recipe) onion soup, then onto a fresh revisited Caesar salad leading into AAA steak, various seafood and butter soft chicken dishes. Stands outs are the shrimp with saffron rice and fresh and distinguished (beef or salmon) tartar. Two dishes that are sure to warm you up are the seafood chowder which is bisque based but still quite filling, and their Poutine which is over the top huge - comes in about and 8" iron skillet and fit for two or three to share. I definitely only made a dent in it. Note to self Poutine is much heavier when toppings added. Don't forget their excellent and sizeable chocolate lava cake to top it all off, but probably not on the night you order a Poutine for dinner. In that case they have a fruit plate (both in individual and group sizes). The family who run the restaurant being on site, makes for a good ambiance and surely shows their pride. In sum for a brunch restaurant to even attempt opening in the evening - shows real dedication - if there was such a thing a bonus star for that, they would get it. I hope with continued hard work the goals come true. Their dinner offering is more than could be expected, and of a quality that deserves tasting - not only imagining.
