TL;DR: come for the drinks and do not order food - it won't be what you thought you ordered. smelly inside. Ordered: - greek salad: close to 80% cucumber and 20% rest. I don't know what was going on but there wasn't any flavor to any of it either. - margherita pizza: wow this was bad. all the tomato that should've been in the greek salad made it here instead. There wasn't a lot of cheese and the amount that was there smelled funky. only 2 slices were taken. only half a slice was finished. there were 7 of us. go to pizza mama down the street if you really want pizza. this isn't even pizza here. - whole fish: everything was bland but this was the best of the bunch. that said, for $65? you're better off getting a filetofish from mcd and pocket the 60 for a different spot. admittedly, the drinks are always themed and well-balanced. Lots of cute glassware and unique takes. This is the saving grace. maybe the strategy is to get customers to order so many cute drinks that they eventually get hungry but are too drunk to taste or care about the food. who knows. Maybe you'll like it more than we did.

We love to come here for dinner with friends! This location is full of laughter anytime we visit. Their servers always make us feel welcome. They give awesome recommendations and I thoroughly enjoy how festive this restaurant is. We love coming here around Halloween time but this year we went for valentines also! A great place to enjoy time with special people and enjoy great food! Near the beach, which helps walk off some of those carbs!

Made a reservation here for galentines dinner! Such a festive and cute environment!! My bestie and I got the calamari, funghi pizza, prosciutto & burrata pizza! The pizza were very delicious!! We also had a few glasses of wine. Def such a cute place to get together with friends! I believe they change the decor according to the holidays!

My first time at Barbarella was wonder-filled and I love their Holiday Spirit. This restaurant is decked out to the Tee with beauuutiful decorations boosting this holiday cheer for sure. All I can say...is wooowww! My inner child appreciated it a lot :-) When we arrived, it was a full house. Luckily, we had reservations. We had a chance to look around the restaurant admiring the festive decor. We even walked to nearby restaurants to discover that they were not "on-n-poppin" like Barbarella. Barbarella definitely attracting the crowds. Because of the busyness, we did have a wait. It was worth it though. We were taken to an overflow room in the back which was also nicely decorated too. Once our waitress appeared on the scene, she was on-it...answering our questions and making recommendations. My yummy refreshing Santa Special Cocktail made me feel sooo special. I can tell the bartenders are working their magic at the bar. Cheers!! My Ricotta Ravioli with half Bolognese & Lemon Cream sauce made me feel sooo saucy but in a good good way. My adult self appreciated it a lot ;-) I'll definitely return to this super cool Italian spot.

This place is so festive! I honestly felt like I walked into a Hallmark Christmas movie. I love the holiday spirit here. I started my meal with a nice cup of hot chocolate, and it set the tone perfectly. I really enjoyed the vibe, the service, and the food. It was definitely busy, but our server was super nice and totally on top of everything. I ordered the seafood linguine with the white sauce -- it was good, but I think I prefer the red sauce. The bread and butter was $5, and it was worth it... the butter is what makes it! My friend even ordered one to go, lol. I highly recommend the mint ice cream lava cake. So good! This place is very family-friendly, and I'll definitely be back with my kids so they can experience the winter wonderland too.

Food: Funghi Pizza (9/10) - i love mushroom pizzas but i didn't expect how well made this one was! it came out hot and fresh with the perfect amount of cheese and mushrooms. so tasty! Pasta Al Forno (7/10) - be sure to mix it well because my scoop ended up not having enough sauce haha the sauce eventually disappears and lacks flavor. overall decent but i do think the sauce was a little separate from the noodle and felt less together? wasn't enough sauce and meat but still good! Fettuccine Bolognese (7.5/10) - more on the creamy and toasty side. pretty good flavor and you can taste the bacon bits. wasn't mind blowing but decent! Service: We had the most helpful and conversational server! Flagging someone down was a little hard at times because no one was around for some reason for a long time for us but they would be very nice and helpful once we did Ambiance: I went during christmas times so this place is fully decked out in so many christmas decorations! Such a nice place to visit especially at night with all the lights turned on. Very spacious with the patio seats and multiple rooms/sections for more seating

Food: 4 Service: 3.5 Ambiance: 4.5 We visited Barbarella during the holiday season, and the restaurant was fully decked out with festive Christmas décor. The lights both inside and outside really added to the lively, cheerful ambience and made the whole experience feel extra special. We had a 5:00 PM reservation, just before the dinner rush, and were seated promptly. The service at the front desk was okay, but our waiter more than made up for it. He was attentive, friendly, and checked in on us often. Our water glasses were always refilled, and we felt well taken care of throughout the meal. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We ordered the bread and butter, calamari, lamb medallions, and broccolini. The lamb medallions were absolutely the star of the show, cooked to perfection, and paired beautifully with the sweet potato, which was delicious. The broccolini was also very good. The calamari was just okay, a bit too breaded and not as fresh as we would've liked, so we probably wouldn't order that again. We also tried two holiday cocktails, the Ornamentini and the Partridge in a Pear Tree. Both drinks were super cute and festive, and they were light and refreshing. I'm glad we tried them. For dessert, we ordered the mint lava cake topped with mint gelato, and it was very, very delicious. We enjoyed it immensely. The location is another big plus. After a heavy dinner, we took a nice walk down the street and ended up at the beach, which was the perfect way to end the night. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely return. I highly recommend Barbarella for a girls' night out or a date night.

I was SO excited to try this spot for Christmas vibes but was extremely disappointed. Only reason for 2 stars is for the Christmas decorations which were very jolly indeed. HOWEVER the service was SO poor and the food was even worse. We had a reservation for 5:30pm on a Sunday, and we didn't finish dinner till close to 9PM. I do realize it was very busy since this is a popular spot, but everything was slow and things came out wrong too. Now onto the food: Charcuterie Board: was afraid of food poisoning honestly, seemed like it had been sitting out for a while (cute plates though) - also the meat was touching the cheese so my vegetarian friend couldn't try it. Caesar salad: actually not too bad! Pepperoni pizza: can't expect much from pizza in California but this was gross - crust was sloppy and undercooked and way too much cheese. Cocktails/wine: Specialty Christmas cocktails seemed super cute but I learned the espresso martini is batched so I couldn't get tequila instead of the vodka. The other tequila option was VERY blue and way too sweet. Ordered white wine and it came out warm - gave me a massive stomachache and headache due to poor quality. Maybe the food and service is better when it's not so busy during the holidays, but do not recommend the Christmas pop up as it is overpriced, slow service, and poor quality.

The food is baaaad. We tried to give it so many chances but each plate that came out just missed. The best thing was the bread and vanilla ice cream. They do have the cutest Christmas decoration!!!! Indoor and outdoor was covered head to toe and we loved it. They had delicious Christmas cocktails with the best one to me being the partridge in a pear tree. It came in a cutesy bird glass and was perfectly balanced. Service was good for being a busy night. Inside did smell like piss and the bathroom line was long so I didn't even get to see the bathroom door and you can still smell the pee. Overall--- maybe come for cocktails and bread ?? Take pictures with the decor. Hopefully you have a better experience if you try.

We recently celebrated our annual Christmas dinner here. We chose this place specifically for the holiday cheer and decorations that are displayed throughout. It's like stepping into my Christmas past of the 80's with tinsel, yard lights, and trees and garland galore. We had a reservation for 12 and were happy to accommodate us even by adding an extra table for more elbow room. Service was excellent with close attention to making sure we got what we needed. I had the their specialty egg nog cocktail which was delicious as well as a class of Daou cab to go with my dinner. The Brussels sprouts were tasty. The food was okay. I ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese & my husband ordered the steak and both agreed they were okay. I tasted the Funghi Pizza which was delicious. Four stars for the ambiance and the service. I think improvement on food would make this place a frequent spot for me

MUST TRY HOLIDAY THEMED RESTAURANT Barbarella is a charming, super fun and festive kid-friendly restaurant in La Jolla, that goes all out with holiday spirit! We came for the decorations and the vibes, but the food was also a hit. Our favorites were the French Onion Soup (with a hefty amount of melty cheesy goodness) and the rack of lamb (full of flavor and cooked to perfection). They offer a special holiday cocktail menu with a ton of options, including a martini served out of a Christmas ornament (the ORNAMENTINI). The Christmas Spirit is OFFICIALLY making its appearance and we're HERE for it! Ornamentini Whiskey for Santa Partridge in a Pear Tree French Onion Soup Chicken Parmesan Pasta Al Forno Grilled Lamb Rack Medallions KId & dog-friendly! Visit trés! I have visited Barbarella's three times and each time it's just as great as the last, from the service to the food to the festive atmosphere. People were dressed in Halloween attire having a great time, waiter was super awesome and attentive despite the very busy time and my food was amazing! I've tried both mushroom dishes in the past, and loved them, this time opted for their steak. Did not disappoint! Green beans were crisp and flavorful, whipped mash was amazing 11/10 for me! Restrooms are always a fun time too haha. Can't wait to visit again soon before the end of year. Worth my hour commute to LJ. *lots of patio seating out front, bar area and take reservations.

The place has a new owner. No more decorations. No more vegetarian selections. Pizza was terrible. Won't be back. Very disappointed.

Does anyone know what date the holiday/christmas decor will be up for winter? :)

It is already up as of November 15 2023. :)

What's parking like?

You can find parking on the surrounding streets.

Not sure, but Do you still have the decorations up for Christmas? or took them out?

Hello Komal, We are slowing taking down the decorations. Most of the decorations are still up.…

Do they still decorate for Halloween?

Yes we do... BOO!

I am wondering what is in your winter breeze/berry(?) cocktail? It was the best cocktail I've ever had so I'd like to know what was in it.

Hi Zoe, WINTER BREEZE: Malibu Rum, Peach Schnapps, Pineapple, Splash of Cranberry…

Is the patio dog friendly?

Yes!!! Very dog friendly ! Even have a dog menu

The waiter was patient and led us through what my father could and couldn't eat with his allergies. My 11 year old loved the mini burger. Presentation was excellent. They were nice enough to serve everything on the side for her. She loved the fresh crisped rosemary potato chips on the side. Some standouts from tapas menu are patatas bravas with crispy cheese covered potatoes with two dipping sauces (aioli and spicy) and of course the award winning soup earned its place in the menu. Waitstaff and service are outstanding. Plenty of menu options. Wine list is great and they led us to pick a lovely bottle. Definitely a fine dining option that was a great choice for my dad to try food better than he can get at home, as he requested. (Father approved. We had already visited outstanding restaurants like Muzita and Buona Forchetta). Adding Wolf in the Woods to my impress the guests list.

Which is why the consistency and dedication to their service is so commendable. Top tier from the host, our waiter and some sweet lady wearing nice clothes who spoke with us and provided us with refills. Focaccia Bread - 8.6 Good, hot and fresh. It could have used more herbs and texture on the outside. The bread was good quality and tasted as such. The star though is the balsamic vinegar that it comes with. The balsamic is delicious and tasted like it was high quality. Seared Beef Filet Tataki - 9.2 I haven't had many chilled beef dishes however, this is the best one. The beef was very tender and flavorful. It was cooked to a medium/medium rare. The soy jus the beef was sitting in was really flavorful and delicious. The seasonal citrus was also fresh and very delicious. I would encourage anyone to try this dish at Wolf, especially if you want to try something chilled that typically is served hot. Sweet Corn Soup - 9.9 Yes, a 9.9. I'm not sure soup can get much better. Every aspect and component of this dish is excellent. The depth of the flavor of the corn, the texture and items which accompany the soup are all great. The corn fritters are moist, flavorful and soak up some of the soup. The chile dust adds great seasoning and flavor while the pine nuts add texture. If I were to rank the best 25 bites of good or dishes I ever had, this would probably be top 10-15. Even if you aren't a fan of corn, get this, it'll change your mind. Kolibri Salad - 8.9 The salad contained blue cheese, dried apricots, shaved multicolored carrots, bread crumbs and a mustard vinaigrette. All of the aspects of the salad were very good and played off one another very well. I always say the best salad contain a creamy cheese, fresh fruit (not blueberries or strawberries), nuts and a good vinaigrette. The blue cheese was really creamy and probably the best blue cheese we have had. The mustard vinaigrette was good and paired well with all of the ingredients. Patatas Bravas - 8.2 The potatoes were good but not great. The potatoes were tender but too big imo. If they were cut into smaller pieces they would have better texture post cook. The aioli served with the potatoes was really, really good. I wish I had a jar of it. Skillet Mini Burger - 8.8 You could tell the beef was very high quality and it was cooked to a perfect medium. The beef was very flavorful and juicy. The hatch chile crema was delicious as well. If I had one bad thing to say about this burger it would be that it was hatch chile overload. If the burger just contained the hatch chile crema it would have been perfect. However, they also put cooked down hatch chiles on the burger. It was a bit too much chile and I wanted the beef and white cheddar to shine a little bit more.

And then told them to wait on my main course even though I was famished and wanted the food to come out while not caring about the order. The food itself is quite good. It is definitely on the salty side, but I actually enjoy that, so it works for me. The chef/owner is very friendly and welcoming with guests. However, I was uncomfortable with the way I saw him speak to some of the staff, which came across as demeaning and disrespectful and outright insolent. Taking her advice, we sat on the patio. The regular dining room wasn't a good option either, given the heat in there too, aggravated by an extremely high noise level. Turned out, sitting on the patio was a mistake. The other two spaces cooled more and sooner than did the patio. My party ordered two different absinthes, a cocktail, and a glass of red wine, all delicious. The absinthe service is always fun. A special little ceremony. Our dishes were a mixed bag. Mussels-- sweet, tender, in a wine sauce worthy of being sopped up by every last morsel of grilled bread served with the tasty mollusks. Pasta in duck ragu-- the gentleman who ordered this dish thought the wide noodles themselves were sumptuous, but was disappointed that the sauce contained no duck meat. Chicken cordon Bleu-- a big hit with the teen who ordered it. Two generously sized pieces of tender chicken, rolled and filled with ham and cheese, all packaged into a very, very crispy coating. He also loved the accompanying pureed potatoes. Baramundi-- pleasant enough for the couple who shared it, but not memorable. They were especially pleased that the chef attended to their need to dine gluten free. Lamb ribs-- delectable. The serving of two tender chops arrived perfectly medium rare, just as I had requested. A light hand with seasoning showcased the flavor of the chops. There was no complimentary sparkling wine or dessert as we had enjoyed in the past when celebrating a birthday, which would have been a nice touch, but our main interest was the quality of the dishes we ordered. Our service was very good at times, AWOL at others. Because of the heat? I'll probably never know. Fortunately, extremely hot weather is rare here in San Diego, but I'd suggest that, since this restaurant is so reliant on walled-in roofless dining spaces, they consider closing for the duration of any future heat waves should they occur. It's difficult to enjoy a fine dining meal when the staff is so uncomfortable that their performance is sub-par, and the dining environment is dramatically uncomfortable. I'm still awarding 4 stars, but just barely.

There is also ice cream here which comes in a massive portion and tastes really good. The Wok is a quick chinese-American place. I personally did not go to this place often as the portions were a little small for my liking but I thought the flavor was really good. At the Taqueria, I would oftentimes get the quesadilla or a burrito. I would usually get the chicken al pastor for both and it tasted really good! I would always get the green salsa over the red however I have always prefered Green Salsa over Red. I have not had the chance to visit Garden Bar or Al Dente but I have heard good reviews about both of them The service at the location is pretty good. You either order in-person or via the Dining app at each location. Usually, when ordering online, they give you an estimate for the amount of time needed so you can avoid long lines if you wanted to. After getting the food, you find your own seats and when finished you are expected to put away your utensils and trash. Overall, Sixty Four is large and mostly well kept. It is well lit up and it usually has a decent amount of students either studying or eating.

I had the good fortune of living behind the restaurant around the corner on Utah Street. I visited…read morethem the first week they opened for business. Same place, much smaller. Hannah operates a gourmet catering service and after receiving comments from customers wishing Hannah had a restaurant, that's exactly what she did. I started going there on a semi regular basis with my daughter, whose hair Hannah loved! I brought friends to Hannah's and soon we were welcomed as family! Here is a person who knows how to cook with herbs and spices! They were able to expand the space for the restaurant and focused on her take of a country's regional food. She also started a family style dinner, also focusing on a different country every month. Covid sure presented a challenge but they adjusted and are still serving Sunday brunch! I went thru a bad period dealing with Parkinson's disease and my daughter would go to Sunday brunch and always came home with lots of wishes of love and support from Hannah and her staff. When I finally was able to go to Hannah's again I was greeted with hugs and so much love from Hannah I was reduced to tears. I am so grateful to have met Hannah and her husband and the staff there. So for me I came for the food and stayed for the friendship. And the food is all so good!! My favorites are the baguette French toast ( get the lemon custard), and the terracotta berry pancakes. I miss the days of red velvet pancakes with chocolate chips and cream cheese frosting. The omelettes are always so fresh tasting and so are the flourless chocolate cookies! Eating here has made me a fan of Gorgonzola cheese and rosemary. I tip my hat to Hannah's Gourmet !!!!

Came here recently and ordered the Eggs a la France. I liked how they had a "Taste the World"…read moresection of their menu with items from various regions. The service was great and our server was amazing. The food itself was good but it was missing something I can't quite put my finger on. I think maybe the bread or sauce was a little bit sweet which threw me off, but it was still really good. It's interesting how they're only open on Sundays. They also don't take reservations but luckily a few of our friends arrived earlier to put their name down. I would recommend arriving a bit earlier than you expect just in case!

We had a show to attend later that evening so it was perfectly timed with HH that goes on nightly. The first experience with HH, the place was packed and we were lucky to get a seat along the bar. This visit, we knew what to expect and came around the turn around time when the first batch just finished and second was getting started. Parking is a cinch with self parking in the lot or valet if you prefer. Hostess was sweet when we walked in. The bar area was still lively but they did have open tables available. And there was piano players this visit which I don't remember the last time we were there. Of course we had Denise taking care of us again. She was both at the dining and bar counter taking care of everyone. With the raving about this place, our friends were excited to try it out. We didn't have anything to start so it was straight to main. Oh, some cocktails first. Mains, the fish and chips which they loved. Nice flaky pieces of cod and thick cut fries. And as it was a hit last time, the Shepard pie was had again. Perfect lamb stew with root veggies and mashed potatoes. Can't go wrong with that. Lastly two of us had the Willies beef tornadoes. Two 3 ounce beef tenderloin medallions with a blue cheese crust served with butter mashed potatoes and herb season asparagus and red wine reduction sauce. Let me say, it was a hit. The last time we were here a couple next to us had it. It was a must to try next time. I highly recommend it and the meat was cooked perfectly to our liking. Service was amazing again. Denise was a rockstar and the sweetest. Everyone was, also Juan was very helpful and sweet. The crowd was amazing, music was great and of course the food, definitely recommend and you now have regulars. Until next time for HH or dinner.

Excellent service from Zoë who was a delight. Attentive, but not irritating. Every course was perfectly timed, which isn't easy since each diner eats at a different pace. She good suggestion on dessert, too. We got there before the dinner rush, so it was nice and quiet. We will most definitely be back!

Decor inside is so cute though and the bathroom was decked out. Great place for a little date brunch or girls thing. Service was great. The waiter gave as recommendations for all categories. Food came out very quick! The flower plates and cutlery were very elegant. Lots of options for food from sweet and savory. The best thing is the lobster Benedict. Lobster pieces were big and plenty. The flavor was on point. Lobster roll was also very good. The naughty skillet and chilaquiles are good. Potatoes in the dishes are phenomenal. The steak and eggs were mediocre, steak was overcooked and chewy. Also have tried the pumpkin spice iced latte (good) and pistachio iced latte (okay). I also remember trying a few sweet items, but forget which they were - but remember it was good. I would recommend to try if you haven't. I personally enjoy this brunch place more than the others nearby in La Jolla.

She never returned. The floor manager Barbara hovered over our table a few times, and didn't notice once we were waiting. After she hovered our table again with a server and game planned for the floor, I then grabbed her attention before she could walk off and asked if she was a manager and let her know how poor the service was already. She gave an explanation on how she was game planning for her servers and didn't notice lol, then she called over a girl Christina from the little candy shop and she scurried over. She did not know anything about the menu, I asked her where the sides were on the menu and she did not know. Nor was she able to find any menu items on her toast. Waited for 15 mins without help, then after 2 mins of poor service we decided to leave. As a manager, she should have taken our order herself to assure everything went smoothly from that point on. 0/0 service Ambiance also isn't all that, 3/5 cute for kids tho!
