Has been recommended to me plenty of times and I'm only disappointed I didn't come here sooner. This is definitely a top "wine only bar" that I now recommend! Came here for an afterparty on a Saturday night and it was packed. There's seating at the bar and round tables/booths along wall. We were lucky to beat the crowd, but I can imagine if it's always like this, it'll be hard to always get a seat/table. BPT definitely leans smaller, there's a dance floor and a disco ball in the back (and even smoke), but I loved the music and DJ that sits right above the dance floor. Huge plus since I've never seen this before, but loved the dim-red lighting which felt very cozy and intimate and almost noir-film inspired. I've been here a few times, each visit an attempt to repudiate the experience of before. Somethings never change: - an overpriced cover. - hit or miss djs. - the world's longest bathroom line. - delicious but expensive natural wines. - gross beer options. - a mustiness that can best be described as a lack of ventilation. They book great DJs here! The cover of 10$ seems reasonable enough to me considering the price of raves and clubs nowadays. Unfortunately, nobody inside seemed to be interested in listening to music with people actively talking over it on the dancefloor. The wines look enticing enough but the pours are miniscule. I have been one other time, and I don't remember it very much which kind of led me to believe that it's not memorable. I then went on an exceptional girls night out with so much excitement to drink wine. before 1 AM, we tried to order a last bottle of wine to share between six friends -we were rudely told that they were done serving drinks. when we inquired why they were done when the bar was open until 130 one of the shorter bartenders flipped us off. I will say, I have worked in waitstaff before and understand wanting close, but I have never been so rudely pushed out. Sooooooooooo many better sf wine bars. read more

This location used to be my favorite dive bar, Thieves Tavern, so wanted to check out the new bar since it's been quite popular on social media. $10 cover charge on Friday evening, mostly natural wines with some beers (Guinness on tap, ipa and lager in cans). They definitely maximized the floor space and made it work - got rid of the pool table in the back and turned it into a dance floor with disco ball and smoke/mist. Gets pretty packed but service is fast - the bathroom line can get a bit long (two single units in the back). Overall a lovely fun place with good DJ sets - and really impressive Guinness draft pours. read more

One of my favorite spots in SF! This is a wine only bar with intimate lighting, tables/booths. The dance floor lights up later with a DJ and disco ball! Came here with a friend on a Friday night. They only serve wine, so if you're looking for mixed drinks this place is definitely not the place! Expect to pay a cover charge too. It can get pretty crowded here, and the Friday night i was here the crowd was very pushy which is not my vibe. There is some booth/table seating, but it's pretty limited and you shouldn't expect to get seats unless you arrive early really early in the night since people usually stay in their place the entire time. The only thing this place has going for it (in my opinion) is it has an enormous disco ball over the dance floor. Expect long wait times-there's only one bathroom, and the line can get pretty long. Bartenders were pretty quick for the 1-2 drinks we ordered in the time we were here. I wouldn't come back here based off how small and crowded it gets. I'm not sure if security was aware or keeping track of the capacity, but as tight as it was in my visit they may have been near or over full capacity. read more

This is officially my new favorite bar in the city- complete with a giant disco ball, great lighting, and a dj spinning vinyl, this is one of the coolest vibes of any bar I've seen in SF. My roommates have been coming here for ages and I completely understand why. I went here on a Thursday night and it was very easy for my group of 5 to get two tables together (their tables are pretty small, but I think there are bigger tables towards the front). There was a Dj spinning vinyl (ranging from techno to disco, it was all excellent) and the crowd seemed to be in their late 20s-30s. I have heard that on weekend nights the crowd is significantly younger and drunker, especially as they have a dance floor in the back, so I will probably avoid coming those nights. The first few times I walked by I thought this became a music venue, in account of the consistent lines. We tried to come their anniversary weekend and it was predictably packed and HOT AS BALLS. It's been a while since I've explored in the city and I almost missed Bar Part Time as they don't really have a large sign to let you know where they are located. It's nestled in between two shops that were already closed so I was worried but the neon face sign was on so that is how we knew they were still open. Coming at night it's really dimly lit and a narrow space so as you enter you're right near the bar to order or some of their booths. ~8PM on a Tuesday night it was packed so I can imagine how it is on the weekend or other peak times. We were able to grab an area near the bar which was totally fine for us. From other reviews it looks like they also have a DJ at times but we didn't get to see them this time. We ordered a bottle of their orange wine to share between a group of 5 and it was enough! I was invited to this bar for a friend's birthday which took place on a Wednesday. Coming in around 7:30pm, there were people sitting at the booths and tables in the back which was promising and the bar was dimly lit and the music playing gave the bar a funky/ jazz like ambiance which I very much liked. There was a wall of vinyl records which was great (because I am an advent record collector) but looking over the counter I noticed that the turntable was spinning but there wasn't a record on it which was rather disappointing. Before my friends arrived I decided to order a beer (yes I get that it's a wine bar) and when they gave me a canned beer I asked for a glass but was brought a wine glass which was confusing. Did this bar not have any pint glasses? The beer was $7 and I paid with a $20 bill. I was brought my change and counted $12 which was incredible. I didn't think the bartender had tried to shortchange me and believed it to be an honest mistake. I did not tip because of this. My friends finally arrived around 8:15pm and I was ready for another drink. I ordered a glass of wine and again, paid in cash. When I asked for a receipt the only options were email and text. When I asked for paper the bartender explained that they could not do paper because their machine was malfunctioning so I chose email which was annoying. I did tip this time. Later on I approached the bar a third time and asked for a glass of water. The bartender pointed to a self serve station to my right adjacent to the record player. I was dumbfounded that the bartender could not serve me a glass of water at the bar, no one was busy at all. In all, I did have a nice time with my friends here, but the service was lackluster to say the least. Let me say that the staff here were never rude and were in fact polite. Their hospitality skills could be improved a tad in my opinion. The music that played honestly saved the experience for me, if you are into abstract jazz/ funk. I probably wouldn't come back, but this bar was definitely a chill spot, relaxing vibe, good company and good drinks. read more

They have a large selection of natural wines by the glass or bottle and the folks behind the bar are incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. The have a small selection of snacks you can order, but what is even more impressive is their "wine shop" where you can purchase bottles to take home. Likely because the bar was way too crowded, someone ended up charging two extra drinks on my tab. I only ordered two drinks (insanely small pours for $10/16 respectively). I think the stars aligned when they opened up this Wine bar a couple of blocks from my house. Now every Friday I get two bottles and dance to real talented Djs, not crappy burning man sets that are rampant in this city, but REAL BEATS and Sf locals. Hopped in early on Sat evening (around 8pm) for a drink. The vibe is chill, and there is a decent wine menu. We both opted for vermouth on the rocks - a bit too bitter for our tastes, but that's probably on us. Cover charge is worth the experience. The layout feels like a modified Double Dutch, but the booths they have are clutch if you end up getting one. Grab a bottle of your favorite wine from the fridge and pay up front. Can be a bit of a hipster vibe but that's what made mission bars so much fun before all the tech money came in. Different feel than your usual SF bars these days and I dig it for that. read more
