Came here for an event after grabbing dinner nearby. The bar was open to the public. It was pretty busy for a weekday night before 11pm. Music was so loud which was a downside in terms of trying to meet people but I mean we were at a bar so that's not on the bar. Drinks were good, bar drinks. Overall had a good time here. Could come back

Cute little place with an eclectic, kinda gritty vibe. I've always enjoyed the art installations in the windows outside and appreciate what they're doing with the place altogether. I ordered a Black Manhattan and got served right away. A performer was playing jazz on the piano for a while which was a fun touch, even for a slow night in there. I'd love to stop by on one of the Motown nights! All in all, it's a cool neighborhood bar.

Cute bar, dimly lit inside, covered in art (rotating exhibits listed on their website). Was fairly empty on a Sunday early evening, and service was fast and friendly. We got the Operation Witchcraft, with a licoricey taste and just a hint of absinthe, and the Herbie Hancock, a delightful and refreshing cocktail which delivered on the watermelon flavor. I would definitely return just for this, but they have a good amount of other tasty-looking drinks on the menu as well. I'll also be back to experience live music here. Cool spot.

So much ice in this mule.

I went here for the bar's Motown Mondays. It was fine, but I won't be coming here again. The Motown music was exclusively Motown. The DJ played "Come Together" by the Beatles. Also, some Motown songs I had never heard of, but still they were pleasant. I got the Lola Mule, which was tasty. However, it was at least half ice. That was really frustrating. It meh experience, which its ratings reflect.

Classic dive bar. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Recommend w beer or classic well drink combo. Live music and events, check their calendar to know what is going on!

Too nice a night to stay home & stare at Netflix- time for a stroll down Divisadero, without a clue where we're going. Passing the corner of Fell & Divisadero we heard some Slavic style live music and the stars aligned. Got the last table, perfect view of the band & some guy having his own personal dance party. The bartenders are super friendly. The crowd was really diverse age wise, 20 somethings crowded around the bar- the grey hairs digging the music. There's a vintage half circle upholstered sofa in the corner that looked like someone's satellite living room. Three little dogs, people coming & going, their own personal Cheers. Madrone takes the dive bar concept to another level. It's arty, funky, and wouldn't scare off your sister from Indiana. An evening like this, falling into Madrones, is another reason why I love San Francisco- serendipity around every corner.

A great dance bar venue with affordable cocktails and great music. Their house cocktails are $14, and beers on tap start at $8!

They have a ridiculous amount of mixed drinks and infused vodkas that made me second guess ordering my mojito.

It's a thoughtful menu w something for everyone. Had a Paper Plane which the bar man furiously shook to an icy froth on the top. Soooo good. Went on St Pat Saturday and was looking for a non frat crew vibe and was really pleased I remembered BH was close by.

I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

The club was set to close at 2am -- so they start getting everyone together and closing out tabs a 10 minutes or so before it actually closed. I finish my drink and gather my belongings to go to the restroom beforehand. It was occupied at the time ... so I decided not to worry anymore and walk back to my friends. As I'm doing so, I hear the guard rudely speaking to them and telling them to leave. I advised the man that the club was still open at the moment (they had about 5 mins left) and that we actually were heading out then. I also told him that he didn't have to speak to my friends like that - after he had just been joking around with them moments before. Instead of taking accountability, he immediately got an attitude with me and stated that he didn't care about that and it was time to go. Another female guard then popped up randomly and essentially told me to "fix my delivery" and that the man was her brother. To which I replied, that they were both ultimately in the wrong. I understand wanting to leave work but being rude and distasteful towards paying customers isn't the way to do jt. I hope they hire better employees it was a nice place!

There were only two service staff; we could tell they were working hard but they definitely needed more help. We made two trips to the bar and it took about 15-20 minutes to get service. Drinks were decent. A larger group arrived to the left of us, and about 20 minutes after they arrived, the male service worker told us we had to move cause our spot was reserved. Mind you, we'd been there for almost two hours at this point and nobody had mentioned anything about our spot being reserved, and there was no sign holder indicating it either. It was also advertised as a "no cover" event, so curious to know how reservations were even made. He told us we could move over to the wall; which we discovered was right next to the restrooms and the line of users. Not cool. We then noticed that the larger group had spread out and taken our spot; were we supposed to believe these were the supposed "reservation" holders and not just your friends? Overall, just another mediocre bar that caters to the people they know. Not much concern for new customers, so we have no interest in returning or recommending to anyone. Plenty of other bars in the city; better bars that won't make you feel inferior.

Arrived at 5:30 and was surprised when I saw a small but decent amount of folks here. When I approached the bar and got my first drink, I understood why folks were there so early....the drinks were a buck! Such a steal and great way to get folks in. The concept of battle of the decades is great too! Each hour is a different decade of music, starting with the 60's. I spent a few hours dancing from 60's-80's music until about 8pm (perfect for an old millennial like me) until the place filled up. Totally great night at Monroe. Cheap drink specials, great music, and I was able to get in bed by 8:30pm. I'll definitely be back again.

Located on Broadway in North Beach, it's always high energy and popping, but I've never had any issues getting in. Also love that there's no cover charge for women, so I can just enjoy the night with my friends here without having to pay the equivalent price of a drink before I've even stepped inside. Even with the club frequently packed, especially the later in the night you go, I find the facilities pretty clean compared to many other similar lounges. It's also conveniently located near late night pizza and crêpe eateries that are still open after Monroe closes for the win, which makes it an all-around no brainer to choose going here versus other venues.
