The line was pretty long when we arrived, but it moved surprisingly quickly. You can enjoy your coffee and pastries inside while standing at the counter, or, if you're lucky, grab one of the few seats available inside. There's also outdoor seating, but keep in mind that sitting outside comes with a separate--and if I remember correctly, significantly higher--service charge. I'll be honest--I'm pretty sure I ordered the wrong thing. I ended up with what was essentially a frosty coffee ice cream, which is not what I was going for, lol. I was supposed to order the Granita di caffè con panna, which is their signature. It's a coffee granita--essentially finely shaved/frozen coffee--topped with whipped cream. Instead of whipped cream, I accidentally told my Italian nephew I wanted the coffee with ice cream, whoops. I also ordered a maritozzo, which I was absolutely on a mission to try while in Rome. The maritozzo is a traditional Roman sweet bun filled generously with whipped cream, and it did not disappoint. I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn't have time to enjoy my maritozzo there. I packed it up and ate it later that evening, and it was still delicious. I've also essentially given up coffee completely, so I only had a few bites and sips of my coffee ice cream, but what I tried was really good. The menu is fairly large and varied, and it can feel a little overwhelming when you're standing at the counter with a line behind you. I'd recommend taking a look at the menu ahead of time if you can so you have an idea of what you want before you get up to order. Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by. Tazza d'Oro is an institution, the location is hard to beat, and there's something fun about experiencing one of Rome's longtime coffee traditions--even if you accidentally order the wrong thing like I did!

Bar Moretto is a disgrace to Rome and Italians. It's a cafe operated by Satan right outside of the Vatican. TOURIST TRAP!!! If you've never experienced a tourist trap, this is it. They dont offer you menus and when you look at their display glass of ordinary foods you'll think "how bad can it be? I'll just take one." So I knew my small snack size sandwich was expensive. I didnt think much of it. What I didnt check the price for was the coffee which turned out to be $11 USD. The nastiest, sweetest coffee I've ever had and it was more expensive than the nasty sandwich. I couldnt even drink it... and Italy is known for great coffee!!! Bar Moretto morons, you couldnt at least make it good for charging $11 cup of coffee?? This place was air conditioned, clean, it had many waiters waiving in the suffering tourists outside in the heat so it's easy for people to fall for the trap. Other things I noticed: - Person handled my sandwich sneezed into his hands and kept handling food. I saw the next unsuspecting couple order their food from him. Poor folks! - Sit down and take away prices are 50% mark up but there's no menu offered or given on 99% of the stuff. - Sandwich given to me did not look the same as the one in the window. It looked less fresh and tasted days old. - Atmosphere of the cafe is just casual enough to trick you into sitting down. CHECK THEIR TRIP ADVISOR REVIEWS! So many people said this place ruined their trip to Rome. Bar Moretto, if you conduct your business honestly you can still have great business and make good money ya know. DO NOT GO HERE. This restaurant is highway robbery. The employees and management are criminals. The food is NOT fresh and is premade. I ordered 2 coke zeros, tortellini and chicken with a Cesar salad for my Mom and I. The bill was 90.17euros. They wanted 12 euros for the 2 coke zeros. I attempted to talk to the manager. Who told me "well this is the Vatican" like robbing customers is next to godliness. The fridge that they got our cokes out of said 2.50 for a coke but some how that got inflated to 12euro on the bill. Avoid at all costs. You have been warned. The management are crooks who should be alerted to the authorities for this criminal behavior. read more

Warning! Most likely illegal dealings going on here, staff are crooks. 40€ for 2 waters, 2 watered down coffees and a tiny tiramisú. Simply avoid, shocking the police have done nothing in this matter, it seems common enough. Robbery! This place is run by thieves who have no conscience and they are right outside the Vatican. They don't show you the menu, they don't have prices listed anywhere and the food is stale and just reheated. Avoid! Better to go hungry than eat here. read more
