Then they pretend to get the order wrong and extra items you did not order. So there is a chance you may just decide to get it. The food is stale. The bread worse (they don't offer it, you have to ask and you get it in wrappers so they can recycle the unused stale bread). and finally when the bill comes it is astronomical. 8 euros for an OJ or a beer. €15 for an entree. ZERO STARS!!!! I didn't want to come here; based on its location and atmosphere, I could tell it was going to be a tourist trap. However, the three tired women I was with insisted on stopping at the first place they saw. A coke was €6! The food was outrageously priced! Four of us shared two entrees and each had a coke and our bill was €80. This is unacceptable! Of course, this had a service charge added on. Then the waiter told us upon dropping of the check that we had to tip him because the service charge goes to the restaurant and not to him. I was furious and didn't want to leave anything but he stood at the table until we left him a tip! My friend asked for more money because she only had €2 and I said that's too much, we're not leaving any more than that. After spending hours at the Vatican, we desired a HOT cappucino. It was lukewarm. Unfortunately we decided to get a bite to eat. One of us ordered a stuffed baguette. It came on flatbread and was bland and, contrary to menu description, had an end-cut tomato and less than memorable mozarrella. The other ordered a caprese salad -- terrible tomatoes, mozzarrella hard, mainly lettuce. A terrible commentary on caprese salads. We ordered a second cappucino and stressed "molto caldo." It also came lukewarm. When we finally got the attention of the waiter, who was nowhere to be seen, we complained. He said it got cold because it was cool out. Hardly. To add to the adding to the justice, we were blamed that we didn't raise the issue soon enough and the cool weather (mid-70s) was to blame. Then we were advised that their credit card connection was not working so we had to pay cash. The restroom was pathetic. I wish I could turn back time and catch the signs of this tourist trap. In hindsight, there were many. They were very reluctant to hand over a menu and the customer turnover rate was extremely high, even by North American standards (I'm from Canada). They encouraged us to choose from a display of pre-cooked food, which looked good enough, but was set up cafeteria style. I guess the price didn't even cross my mind because of this. The food that we ordered should not have cost as much as it did even if it was fresh. €12 for lasagna and €20 for fetuccini. We asked for house wine, thinking we were being budget conscious. €18 for one 375ml bottle of wine- that wasn't even good. It's a shame that they are able to get away with this. Never again. When I first walked inside there were about 4 workers at the entrance who saw me walk in, but no one greeted. My server seemed kind of rude and was picky about where she wanted me to sit (what restaurant does that?), and I had to ask more than twice for the same thing. The food is not that special and I was very disappointed in what was brought to me. I asked for a simple pancake meal complete with eggs and bacon, but my server bought me stacked Nutella pancakes, with way to much Nutella on it. The fresh juice was good and the establishment was neat and well put together, that's about it. And I was able to write this post without any interruptions from my server. She checked on my one time out the the 45 minutes I've been sitting here. At check out I had to be the one to get up and to to the front even though I saw my server give two tables their bills. They also tried to overcharge me for the pancake meal that I did not get. So I had a stack of 3 Nutella pancakes (10€), a glass of fruit juice (8€), and green tea (5€). They tried to charge me 39€ when my bill was actually 23€ I think the original meal I wanted was like 24€ cause the cashier lady apologized and took off the 2$€ tax. Also, a guy that works there bumped into me causing me to drop change out of my wallet (which I think was on purpose) and he didn't even turn around to say sorry. read more

THANKS TO all those that posted reviews. It was worth your time. My mom was exhausted after 5 hours at Vatican and we stopped for a drink. We had planned to go somewhere else for lunch but as she was tired I decided to take a second look at the reviews before we ordered lunch. Wow wow wow the reviews are literally the worst I've ever seen on yelp. We probably decide to get our check and leave. We were charged $18 for a small bottle of wine that was to serve two glasses. That is fairly high but not outrageous given we were right by the Vatican and it's very touristy area. They did assess a 10% Service charge which I chose to go ahead and leave in Lieu of leaving any incremental tip. read more
