This place was such a vibe! I loved the ambiance and my drink "butterfly house" was one of the best drinks I've ever had. Although it was hard to get our waiter's attention for the check, I would still rate this place 5 stars.

Bar Metier in New Orleans is an alluring, hidden gem tucked away behind a bookcase entrance. Stepping through the covert doorway, you step into a different world of a deep red seductive glow across the space. The ambiance is intimate and has a classic speakeasy vibe. Their Old Fashioned was smooth with just the right hint of sweetness. A timeless drink for a timeless bar. Bar Metier exudes a sexy, alluring energy that's hard to resist. Perfect for a date night or anyone looking to escape into a moody, vintage-inspired atmosphere.

A cozy and romantic lounge with immaculate vibes. Incredible drinks and staff. Comfortable couches and unique books. Best pregame spot for a girls weekend!

This place is a whole vibe! We luckily snagged a table at the last minute bc we walked in and another table chose to get up and leave their reservation. We were walking out and the hostess/manager both chased us down and said they'd be happy to seat us as a table for two just opened up. Yay! Service was excellent, we snuck in a food order 5 minutes before the kitchen stopped serving it, and the mocktails were delish! The inside is moody and red and beautiful. No details overlooked - looks like a vintage library/office/speakeasy. Candles everywhere, cool lighting fixtures and art, love love love. The food menu was a bit lacking for anyone trying to eat "healthy" or light on red meat. Think burgers, bone marrow, etc. We chose the fry bread with honey butter - SOOOO good. Must get. Scallops and a burger. The scallops were $28 and you only got three tiny tiny scallops. Not worth the price and I was still hungry. Burger was $20 and didn't come with a side. We left hungry but we loved the vibes and the drinks and everyone was very nice. Not sure I'd go again for food - but def. for light bites and drinks it's a must see!

Salon Salon offers a stylish, speakeasy-style atmosphere that makes for a nice stop in New Orleans. We came in for drinks and a few appetizers and found the service to be friendly and welcoming. The space itself has a cozy, intimate feel, and the collection of books across various genres adds a unique touch. It's a good spot for a relaxed drink if you're in the mood for a quiet, well-curated space.

Awesome place. Excellent attentive staff. Our friends took my husband and I here and it's definitely a vibe. I loved it. Drinks were on point.

French-style bar in a former library, mixing up creative cocktails accompanied by small plates. It's a spirited new sanctuary in the Warehouse District of New Orleans. Tucked secretively along the side of the new Maison de la Luz hotel, is the most striking library you've ever seen, with scarlet bookshelves, orange ceilings, and tiger-striped carpets. Cocktails are esoteric but a great value, with some as low as $6. You can try everything from fresh frozen concoctions to the rich specialities that celebrate European flavors such as St-Germain, Dubonnet Campari, and Calvados. The seductive wine list is mainly French; the beer list is American but interesting and not overrun with IPAs. The bar menu is also unapologetically Continental. Choose from the tapas-like anchovies or the gougeres aux epoisses, which are basically fancy cheese puffs.

Loved this little cocktail spot in New Orleans! The ambiance is so cute and they had a live jazz band too! We all ordered cocktails and had little plates to share. Everything was so delicious! Highly recommend making reservations as it gets busy! Pro tip: the entrance is tucked away down the aisle-way to the left hand side of Maison de la Luz.

Ambiance is 10/10 Drinks: 9/10 Service 7/10 This place is a vibe... Definitely a good place for a late night drink and hangout with friends. They had a live band for most of the night. I did not try the food but the drinks were well made and set they had a good variety to choose from. The service can be a little tricky though. The server is attentive but there was only one server for the entire room. There were two big parties when I was there but he still did a good job of making it work. Go check this place out!

I really wanted to like Bar Marilou. We walked from our hotel on Canal street to Bar Marilou, it was not a long walk as the weather was enjoyable. As others have stated look to the left as the entrance to Bar Marilou is in a courtyard. The courtyard is a great place for pictures. So what went wrong. Many things went wrong as upon arrival we were greeted by a host that informed us that their CC machine was down so it was only cash or other cash application. Also even though it was early, we went before 6pm and there was only one other group, most of the place was reserved!! The only place available to sit was a couple of small tables in the back. We decided to sit have 1 drink as our cash situation was low and then left after an hour. This place is cute but the drinks are expensive and the host and servers are not friendly. So a hard pass for us. Go take a few pictures and make your own opinion. As for me and mine we will not return.

What a let down! I am super disappointed with this bar. Was in NOLA on a business trip and had seen this bar everywhere. Was so excited to go and the visual was as expected. Beautiful inside and out. Gorgeous walkway and ambiance inside. Just lovely. The let down was with the service. Walked and stood around until finally someone said we could sit at the bar. Once seated bartender 1 a lady was miserable. Tried asking her a few questions on what was good and I have never been so dismissed. Bartender 2 came up to service and he was just as bad. Would ask what was good what wasn't and again dismissed as if I had done soemthing to him. Then these 2 went on to talk trash abt another customer in front of us again as if i didn't exist. This is the worst service, I couldn't drink my drink fast enough and get the hell out of there. Just awful ! next time in town definitely won't be going there or recommend and anyone to go there. Because it looks like those 2 bartenders are perm employees by the other photos posted. And to top it all off I was charged 2x doubling the drink and the tip that I wish I hadn't left. Have tried to get a hold of someone for almost a month now and nothing. Do better!

What time/days/specials on the happy hour?

The bar tender was quick to point out that they do not have a happy hour but an apértif hour, daily from 4-6pm.

Is this place good for groups?

There is like two or three bigger seating arrangements which could fit like 5-8 people but you'd probably have to be there at a not so busy time of day.

Does marilou have a happy hour?

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

This place advertises burlesque shows and "Shibari", however I did not see any of that during my visit. I do not dock points though because I'm certain there's a schedule that shows when these events occur. If you're interested in seeing one, best to make sure when they're taking place. There are security cameras all over the bar so this location can remain sex-positive and safe for guests. After ordering myself a drink, I chose to relax in their bright pink room with the large bean bag and teddy bear. This was my favorite spot for its light-hearted and playful atmosphere, although the room next to it was pretty exciting as well--with its black-and-white paintings of kinky exhibitionists. During my visit, I noticed that there was a collection of leftover glasses from previous guests. Since it was a slow Sunday night, I thought there would've been ample time for an employee to clean up that area beforehand. There was one barista that night, and while she was kind and made excellent cocktails, her voice was really low--making it difficult to hear her over the music. I'm glad the bar was empty, or else I may have not been able to hear her properly. Aside from those minor concerns with cleanliness and communication, I'd still say to give Fetiche Nola a shot if you're looking for a unique place to start off a long night of partying. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe).
