What a wonderful themed motel. Every aspect of this place is nostalgic, and it works, not cheesy like some places can be. Breakfast is included and even there it was clean and beautifully decorated. I especially loved the drive-in movie wall. See photos. Our room had a rotary dial orange phone. Retro microwave, analog alarm clock and vintage posters of Acadia National Park. The bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds provide so much for your family and children to do--corn hole, fire pit with s'mores making at sunset, hooks hoops, tree swings, swimming pool and so much more. Every room has lime green metal chairs out front with a matching table. We were blessed to get one of the rooms that faces trees instead of the parking lot (206 thru 209). The place is conveniently close to the park entrance too, as well as anything you would want to do in Bar Harbor. We are glad to have found this unique motel. Exceeded our expectations. We had a double room with the bathroom in the middle. Our kids had their own full beds in the second room. Great option for traveling families. Could easily fit 4 kids and 2 adults! Room 247 had a back door that opened to... ACADIA NP! No joke. There's a sign next to the playground and if you walk .2 miles on the trail, you're in the National park. We took a fun this morning in Acadia and ran into zero people (take a right and the trail is closed to cars because it's a carriage and biking trail and you can walk on one of the 16 Rockefeller bridges. It was a gorgeous scene with the most lovely river running beneath about .47 miles from the hotel). Breakfast was amazing for "continental" and so many extras. Like others said, comfy, clean, and they even have a scavenger hunt for kids and you can ask them to frame a picture for free if you take one in the NP. They totally did! Free tea, coffee, oatmeal, and cereals all day. Borrow hiking poles, binoculars, etc. pool is heated. You can walk into town to avoid parking fees (we did one night for dinner) and it's about 1.5 miles one way. We would definitely return! read more

This place was great! With "motel" in the name, you usually think of a highway side dingy room, stacked three floors high, and concerns what your bedsheets have seen. Bar Harbor Motel is not that at all! Each building on the lot was separate from another with lots of space for parking in between. Each building had four units at most, from what I'd seen. Our unit, turned out to be bigger than imagined. We had a two bedroom - we opened the front door to the first bedroom that led to the shared bathroom, and on the other side was the second bedroom, and it had an exit door to the rear of the building. The furnishing, the colors, the bathroom, and everything all appeared to be recently renovated, further contradicting my original idea of what a motel could be. On top of all that, the lobby staff is incredibly helpful and kind and the breakfast is the best! There's even a designated bus stop for the free transit into downtown and around the island. This place is a definite must for all visitors. read more

The Bar Harbor Motel is a very solid 4-stars and thensome (I'd have given it 4.2 or 4.3 if I could). First, most of the units have been nicely remodeled inside and freshly painted out. And, surprisingly, they didn't skimp on the furnishings. Our king size bed was gently used and comfortable. The night stands, cabinet, and bathroom were comprised of well made items, too. The A/C worked like a champ--although we couldn't go lower than 68--and there was always plently of hot water for showers. We also really appreciated the bicylce garage storage! All in all this was a great, budget-friendly pick for our stay in Bar Harbor. read more

Loved everyone about this place! Conveniently located, super clean! Staff is very welcoming and kind. The front desk even loans hiking poles, headlamps, coolers to hotel guests free of charge. The room was a nice size to share for a family of 5. There was a space between the rooms (1K and 3 Doubles) that the bathroom was located of off. There was a mini fridge and a microwave as well. Coffee pot was in the main bedroom. Most important, it was super clean! Beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast was good to grab a bite in the AM. They were boiled eggs offered. Lots of choices. The motel also offers daily activities- we made a cute little jar of trail mix on our way out of town. I would say it's an easy enough walk to town however it was so cold and windy we opted to drive. Parking in Bar Harbor was never a problem. read more

Great place to stay-really enjoyed it. The vibe might be 'retro' but all the beds, furnishings, etc. are perfectly modern and nice. Showers have real tile throughout, beds seemed new with nice linens. The little chairs and tables out front are now a nice metal set in lime green. Never having been to Bar Harbor, we weren't sure what to expect or how far things are. This place is great--if you haven't hiked enough in Arcadia, it's a pleasant mile walk into Bar Harbor downtown for dinner. Otherwise, this place has its own stop on the Island Explorer bus (Eden route) right out front. We used it several times. Bonuses of this motel: they offer complimentary toothpaste and other items if you forget them, lend out chairs, umbrellas, etc. if you need them, have a little firepit, bocce court, etc. We borrowed chairs to go stargazing at Sand Beach one night, and even used the bocce court and badminton area-I didn't think we would, but since it was there-we did! The staff are really kind and welcoming. They also have cute little chalkboard signs up where folks can list the animals, birds, and other things they see each day. It's cute, and after a sea kayaking trip where we saw lots of wildlife, it was fun to write them down. This place was a gem, and actually has a little personality, compared to many of the other driver-friendly places nearby. Definitely would stay here again. read more

What an awesome find, I was searching for rooms based on availability and price and didn't even realize how many amazing amenities this place had. Upon check in my twins got little raccoons which they've become obsess with. There is a playground and a pool. Breakfast is included. There different activities different nights of the week. We participated in s'more night yum. The rooms were clean and spacious. You could hop on the free bus to downtown and easily drive places. Just got back from a mini getaway with my family and some friends. Location is great. Different room options. We had the family one so our kiddos had their own room which was great since i had to get up early for a race. My parents had a different room that was one main room and bath. Both great depending on your needs. They had a heated pool, which I knew about, but didn't know they had a playscape, fire pit and lots of fun activities! (Cornhole, bocce) My kiddos, and us, had fun and felt safe! They even offered items to borrow, at no charge!!!! (Rarely see that stuff nowadays) From the reception, employees refilling complimentary breakfast items, staff in charge of fire pit, and cleaning crew, every person I engaged with had such kindness and joy! They seemed to appreciate my kids and really enjoy their jobs. The rooms were so fun and clean! We plan to come back and I wouldn't even look at another place to stay! Great, family friendly motel. The motel offers family suites (2 bedrooms) which was great for our family of five Motel rooms are not fancy but are very clean and well kept. You can conveniently park right outside your room. The included breakfast buffet provides everything you'll need to get your day started including a good number of gluten fee options for people with celiac. The motel is well situated and is a 5 minute drive to downtown bar harbor and a 15-20 minute walk. Finally, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful and have a lot of items that you can borrow during your stay, including hiking poles and umbrellas. read more

For a motor lodge, this place exceeds expectations...well, kind of, my expectations were hightened given the price. Everything about the rooms was great: nice finishings and furniture, comfortable beds. Great housekeeping and friendly front desk. The continental breakfast was balanced (yogurt and eggs, along with piles of carbs) and everything kept well stocked. Keeping the lobby open all day with juice, fruit, and coffee was a nice touch, as was the stacks of board games. In terms of location, the free bus is a great service, though in shoulder season, it only comes every 30 minutes (compared to 15 minutes in summer)...so staying in town would be preferable, since otherwise parking all requires payment. read more

This spot was great for us. We had a group of 23 and our rooms were excellent. There is a pool, badminton courts, and a hiking trail straight Acadia from the back. A bus in to town leaves from directly in front of the office and is a 5 minute ride. It leaves every 15 minutes. Excellent hotel, excellent location, and excellent staff. Let me begin be saying that I am a very, very persnickety person when it comes to hotels. A hotel has to check many boxes for me before I consider staying. I absolutely loved the Bar Harbor Motel. It checked all of the boxes and then some. It completely exceeded my high expectations. I loved the rooms. They were clean and well maintained. The double queen rooms had recently been redecorated and the fun retro vibe was wonderful. Each room had all of the amenities; microwave, hair dryer, mini fridge. The room was bright and airy and the air conditioners worked very well during our rather hot, humid Maine vacation. The double queen room was spacious and had a small table and room for 2 ebike without feeling crowded. I also booked a family room. While the family room had not been remodeled, it was spacious and clean and pleasant. There is a king bed in one room, a closet and bathroom in the middle, which leads to another room with 2 beds. There is an air conditioner in each room. There was plenty of room for 3 large men and 2 ebikes with room left over to lounge a bit. On to the spectacular staff, which helped to make my stay extra pleasant. Every single staff member was delightful and helpful and kind. The front desk staff felt like old friends, asking about our day and our hikes. The breakfast staff kept all of the breakfast foods coming for our busy, hungry family. The 24/7 coffee and hot chocolate and tea was great. They cleaning staff did an amazing job and greeted us each morning with a smile. Every single staff went above and beyond with tips, suggestions and kindness. I loved the guest laundry where I had to do quite a bit of smelly, hiked in laundry. You do have to pay, but it's a bargain for clean clothes. It's $2 for the washing machine and $2 for the dryer. The laundry room is kept very, very clean, which is amazing because of all of the beach sand, but the Bar Harbor Motel excels at cleanliness. What an amazing place to stay! read more

We stayed here in October 2021... a great experience. The hotel is on the main drag, but the buildings are well off the road up in the trees on the hill. So it's quiet and very bucolic. Great grab & go breakfast is included, nice rooms and nice staff. We came to Acadia to bike the carriage roads and were pleasantly surprised to learn that the motel had a path to the park at the back of the property. So we left our car at the motel, walked the bikes thru the woods, and were then on the trails. Super easy and convenient! And the motel has a bike garage... locked at night... so our bikes were safe and out of the way. Couldn't have been happier! We'll be back here next fall. read more

Absolutely Fantastic Motel!!! This is the nicest motel we have stayed in he the price. The staff is very friendly. The room was very clean. When we entered the room, there was a towel in the shape of a lobster. The complementary breakfast was one of the best. So much to choose from. I really appreciated the choice of fresh fruit: banana, apple, pear and orange (I think). Also they had sugar free syrup! The beds were comfortable. The more has numerous buildings staggered as you drive up a hill. Each building houses 4 rooms. Along the front is a porch with chairs and small tables. Each morning I would drink my coffee on the porch while my husband and kids slept. It was so peaceful. I could read and listen to the birds. If we come back to Acadia National Park, this is where we are staying. Highly recommend this motel! read more

This is a standard motel... Thin walls and 4 suites per pod. It's very covid conscious. Breakfast was all options individually wrapped for you to take back to your family... Muffins, bagels, hard boiled eggs, fruits, coffees, teas, juices, milk, cereal, and either waffles or french toast. Not much in the way of protein... We ended up eating the packets of peanut butter. And fair warning, the French toast was half frozen... It really needs to be put in the toaster or microwave before you leave the lobby because you can't heat it in your room and it's frozen in the middle. The Maine blueberries and powdered sugar were great on them though. The attendant at the desk was really friendly and the place seemed family friendly with a swingset and outdoor pool. I wish we weren't woken up by the neighbors but otherwise it was a decent place that was clean and had fluffy towels (bonus in my book!). read more

Our family of 4 stayed in the house within this motor court for 5 nights in mid July 2021. The good: Great location to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Walking and biking distance. There's a bus express to also take you into the park. The house had three bedrooms which is perfect for our family. The not so good: Their property manager, Vacasa, was MIA during our stay. We had to call into the property owners for 3 straight days asking them to fix the bathroom sink which was almost fully stopped up and for a new shower curtain liner which was nasty. Vacasa never showed up and the property owners had to do this themselves. I called Vacasa and they told me that the property manager never called it in. No guest should have to get the short end of a stick that a property owner and property manager (Vacasa) should have handled. We are avoiding using Vacasa for any future stays anywhere we travel. read more

Blueberry muffin very tasty. While we did not utilize this feature you can borrow walking sticks, binoculars and the motel is a stop on the Island Explorer. Very comfortable after a long day of hiking! Went to Bar Harbor for the fall foliage. Naturally this meant a lot of hiking, especially since we were with our exceptionally fit daughter. The motel was ideal for recuperating after a day of climbing boulders. Very clean room, spacious for three adults, excellent bathroom set up including a great heater in the ceiling. The motel is located close to the park and downtown Bar Harbor. The common room is well stocked with snacks and there is a nice breakfast spread. You can heat food in the microwave and enjoy your meal in the common room. We were very pleasantly surprised with the Bar Harbor Motel. read more

We loved this motel! Close enough to Bar Harbor to catch the free island transportation into town, but far enough out that you feel part of nature. The motels are clean and updated. We are empty-nesters and the Bar Harbor Motel added the perfect serene stay as a part of our five state, National Park Trek. We absolutely loved the close proximity to town and Acadia. The breakfast was a wonderful touch each morning...my goodness, the blueberries were outstanding! We were close to hiking, walking, exploring (found our furthest northeast geocache). The staff were always friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed getting to know the manager a bit better through Trivia night on what was our only rainy day in the northeast! I can't give enough praise. We returned home sharing how this was one of our best vacations and the Bar Harbor Motel only added positively to our trip! read more

I stayed at the Bar Harbor Motel a couple of times this summer - each time my room was clean and the staff were helpful and welcoming. The beds were comfortable and I loved that they provided a variety of pillows, including soft fluffy ones. The location is good, close enough to town and the park carriage roads that I often walked. I just wish they had a program to allow me to opt out of having my towels replaced. Other than that it was great. read more

The people that run this place probably have OCD, they are that thoughtful. Charcoal grills with all the amenities, spotless bathrooms, great beds, fresh plums and pears in the continental breakfast... I knew I'd have to be really picky to think of any possible improvements but I finally thought of one and I'm going to share it because I know they pay attention. They could have a Bluetooth speaker/ phone charger in the room for us music fans. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and this is the best value for money hands-down, makes me wish I could add a sixth star. I'm so glad I chose the cheaper place! You guys have set a new standard.
