Not disgruntled but totally disappointed. Somewhat astonished of the many "10" and "5" positive reviews. We share our review to provide another perspective of the Inn. Having stayed at other B&B's with exceptional service in many of our travels, we booked the Beehive Suite (see website photo attached) as described below: "The two most private waterfront suites of the inn are the only guest rooms located on the third floor. Two flights of stairs is a small price to pay for the commanding view of the bay from these two special suites. The Keurig Machine in the third floor coffee lounge will save you a few steps for your first cup of morning caffeine." Please note that the description reads, "two flights of stairs." What it fails to share with you is that it requires at least 4 very distinct "turns" with several additional 3 to 4 steps up as you walk-up to the room and that all the steps are very narrow and somewhat steep. Although it is on the third floor, getting to the room will require many more steps than your average "straight up" two flights of stairs as stated in the description. Secondly, the photos displayed on the website must have been taken right at the "2014 renovation." The carpet on the website photos (#1 & #2) appears well-kept and nice as opposed to its appearance on May 6, 2013. The carpet is totally flat from foot traffic, somewhat dirty in appearance and on our arrival date, had a "musty" smell. The photos also reflect a room with lots of natural light. Again, do not expect that level of natural light - in reality, it is somewhat "gloomy" in appearance. And yes, the ceilings are not high due to its "complicated roof structure" as described on the website, adding to the claustrophobic feeling once in the room. Lastly, the description of "central air conditioning" is exactly that, central to the entire home and only controlled by two very small vents in the Beehive room. Needless to say we were very disappointed and chose not to stay at the Inn and booked a room at the Bar Harbor Inn. Since we had exceeded the Inn's cancellation date, we were charged the entire 4-night stay as a no show.

Your hosts Kristi and Matt have opened their home that they raised their 3 children in to provide a very comfortable "New England" B and B experience. Building and rooms are in great shape and cared for. Yard and gardens similarly in well-manicured state. Having looked around town during our 5 night stay, we see there's no shortage of places to stay if that's all you're after. But for a really great breakfast meal, very friendly people, the tranquility of a private yard overlooking the water, and easy walking distance into town this is the _only_ place to stay!

Quaint perfectly located inn - we enjoyed the Acadia Suite and were delighted by the modern bathroom, fireplaces, and private sitting room. The semi-private balcony (shared with one other suite) was the perfect place to unwind. We hope to snag the first floor Master Suite when we visit next (to see the fall colors). The Master Suite is on the first floor - two other suites are on the second floor. The regular rooms are on the third floor. Obviously there isn't an elevator in this 100 year old Victorian gem. The innkeepers, Matt and Kristy, were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Kristy is an excellent cook and prepared gourmet breakfasts! You can sit at a table for 8 or select a private table for 2. Acadia National Park is awe inspiring! This Inn is the perfect place to recharge after enjoying the park!

There's so much character and thought placed into designing every nook and cranny of this Inn. The front desk lady was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was quite small - barely fitting a queen size bed in the room, leaving minimal walking space. Our bathroom was also very small. It had a toilet, a small sink, and a very narrow shower. We didn't mind the size of the room because we spent most of our time hiking around Acadia. The staff at Maples Inn was very kind and shared some of their favorite hikes and their tips and tricks into finding the best experiences. The lobby also has a few snacks that are perfect grab and go for the trails. Their breakfast is also tasty, delicious and cooked on order! One thing to note is that they have 2 small, gravel parking spots on either side of the inn. They will also provide a parking permit for your car that will cover street parking during the dates of your stay at the inn. During peak season, I can only imagine how hard it must be to find parking nearby though.

What a beautiful way to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary!…read more The Bayview Hotel provided us with a room overlooking Frenchman Bay. We enjoyed sunrise views 3/4 mornings. (The 4th one was from Cadillac Summit.) Our room was spacious with one of the most comfortable comforters I've felt. We had a keurig machine, microwave, and mini fridge in our room. Appreciated the heater in the bathroom. Loved being greeted by the geese family on property in the morning and afternoon just outside our balcony. Our balcony had a couple of chairs with a table. We noticed the room beside us had a couch and bar stools in their balcony. While our balcony had cobwebs in every ceiling corner (lots of spiders on the railing), we were still able to enjoy the majestic sunrise views. They serve a continental breakfast every morning at 0700. Mid-day they serve charcuterie, cookies, fruits with refreshing infused water, tea&coffee. By far this was the most serene accommodation we've had. Calm and peaceful. They provide Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Friendly staff~ Brad at the front desk was kind in printing our Cadillac Sunrise pass for us & greeted us every time we passed the front desk. The hotel is less than 8 minutes from the Waterfront and about 10 min to Acadia National park depending on which entrance you use. All in all would return and recommend.

We were not able to get tickets to see the sunrise, but we were able to see one from our balcony. We also enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee out there one quiet morning. The breakfast was very good with many options to have before heading out for the day. All of the egg dishes were outstanding. They also have a shuttle service that you can take if you want to go out for dinner in town. This was our first time to Bar Harbor and Bayview but it won't be our last.

We stayed 2 nights during the off season, and walked to nearly everything. The staff was all very friendly. If I had to make a small recommendation for an improvement, it would be that the curtains in the room were not wide enough to fully cover the windows. The parking lot is small but we were able to find a spot. It's not the most well-lit so be careful when parking/walking. Checking in was easy, we called the number at the front desk and someone came to help us. We even got a late night snack (chocolate mousse) to bring up to our room. The inn is a cute, quaint little house that feels very warm and homey. Our room had a bed with a giant wooden bedframe and the amenities were clean and simple. We got a pair of super comfortable robes too! Now, let's talk food. Every day, you go downstairs into a cute little parlor/tea room. There's always a sweet option and a savory option, and everything is made fresh in house. I mean it when I say these were some of the best breakfasts I've had in my life! Pancakes, waffles, French toast, breakfast quiches... always with a healthy side of fresh fruit and some carb or meat. I seriously looked forward to waking up every day just so I could find out what the breakfast options were. My husband likes sweet and I like savory so we always each ordered one and shared. Again, seriously the best breakfasts I've had in my life!! As if that wasn't enough, they provide daily afternoon "tea time" snacks too! The baked goods were heavenly! We would 100% recommend it to friends and we plan to visit again one day!

The bed was designed by Torquemada. After one sleepless night my wife and I were ready to confess to heresy or treason. It was the most uncomfortable bed I've encountered in decades. The pillows smelled like they hadn't been washed. The bed wasn't level. The mattress was lumpy. We did not sleep ... maybe two hours. 4. The bathroom had a shower. Because of my handicap need to have my wife help me into bathtubs so I elected not to shower. 5. You would think that for $380 they could afford something better than Motel 6 soaps. Very cheap. So after one sleepless night we checked out. The owner said because we booked through Expedia we needed to deal with them. Expedia told us after a day that the owner would not waive their no refund fee so I'm out $380 for that second night. You're better off camping in a tent. Never again.
