My partner and I stayed here when we attended a friend's wedding in late August. The place is charming, quaint and inviting. There's so much character and thought placed into designing every nook and cranny of this Inn. The front desk lady was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was quite small - barely fitting a queen size bed in the room, leaving minimal walking space. Our bathroom was also very small. It had a toilet, a small sink, and a very narrow shower. We didn't mind the size of the room because we spent most of our time hiking around Acadia. The staff at Maples Inn was very kind and shared some of their favorite hikes and their tips and tricks into finding the best experiences. The lobby also has a few snacks that are perfect grab and go for the trails. Their breakfast is also tasty, delicious and cooked on order! One thing to note is that they have 2 small, gravel parking spots on either side of the inn. They will also provide a parking permit for your car that will cover street parking during the dates of your stay at the inn. During peak season, I can only imagine how hard it must be to find parking nearby though. read more

This was such a quaint little place located only a couple blocks from the main strip of Bar Harbor. Jen and Josh were wonderful hosts and our breakfast was delicious every morning. There was one morning where the water went out and our hosts reacted quickly to get the issue resolved. We stayed in the Sea Rose suite which is one of the smaller rooms with the detached private bath. If you don't mind have a bathroom down the hall, it is a great way to save ~$100 a night if you're on a budget. The bathroom is private so no other guests will use it so don't let that deter you! Just went up to MDI with my good friend and hiking buddy. I tend to camp when I go to Acadia, but we wanted a break this time with a shower and bed after long hikes. I feel so lucky that we got a room at Maples. It was almost by accident- everything else was booked up, since we planned fairly last minute. Maples must have had a cancellation, because I can't imagine them having incomplete bookings during this busy season! Leigh and Matt were the perfect B&B hosts- available but not intrusive, friendly and down to earth, and clearly passionate about what they do. Matt's cooking let us choose not to go out for breakfasts, because we had the best quality dining right there, inside or on the porch! Leigh was so helpful and informative. She also went VERY out of her way to help us when we ran into a tricky logistical issue, and really saved the day. The space itself is also excellent. Comfy beds/linens, good water pressure, good wifi, A/C. Unlimited coffee k-cups. Snacks (homemade baked goods, fruit and granola bars) always out. I don't know how many other folks were there, but despite seeing plenty of other guests downstairs/in the hallway, I never heard other folks while we were in the room. Nice quiet side street, but a few minutes walk from downtown. What more could you want! The main thing to be aware of is that it is not accessible (stairs to rooms). 4.5/5. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay at The Maples Inn! Jen is a spectacular innkeeper and takes a lot of pride in the property. The front porch is a wonderful hangout spot--my wife and I loved relaxing on the rocking chairs after spending the day hiking in Acadia National Park. The comfy front room works great for reading and playing board games. We stayed in the Silver Maple Suite, which has a very comfortable bed and a tasteful sitting room. The shower is very small, however. As for the breakfasts, the French toast was a revelation, the best I've ever had. It had an ideal texture--custard-like on the inside, with a crispy exterior--and a perfect level of sweetness. The breakfast sandwich was tasty, while the bland blueberry pancakes disappointed. The Maples Inn boasts a fantastic location. Driving into Acadia National Park is a breeze and walking to downtown Bar Harbor only takes a couple of minutes. As for parking, my wife and I had no problem parking on the street (Jen purchases permits for the guests). We'd definitely stay at The Maples Inn again on future trips to Bar Harbor (although we'd book a bigger room)! read more

Absolutely loved it here!! Leigh and Matt are the BEST! From the moment we stepped through the doors to our final goodbyes, they were both gracious hosts! This was our first bed and breakfast experience and other guests were saying this place blows others out of the water! We came to Bar harbor for my boyfriend's birthday. Leigh and Matt were so sweet and left him a birthday card with a local treat! Soooo thoughtful! We are avid hikers and wanted to explore Acadia National Park. The park has a bus system that you can pick up down the street from the bed and breakfast and not have to worry about parking inside the park. Parking at the Maple Inn included in our stay and not hard to find. Main Street is easily walkable from the inn; about a 5 min walk. Upon arrival, Leigh gave us a ton of information and books to read (if we chose) on Bar Harbor, Acadia and the surrounding area. She gave us dinner options and showed us to our room. We stayed in the White Birch room which was adorable. The bed was soooo comfortable, I could have slept there all day. The living room with the fireplace would have been awesome in the winter but we enjoyed all the detail/decorations. Our room came with a fridge, however there was a communal fridge downstairs. Coffee, tea, and some type of delicious pastry was always available on a small table when you entered the front door. Matt's cooking is phenomenal!! Their made to order breakfast was to die for and there were 5-7 options to choose from everyday. The banana bread French toast with nutella sauce was amazing and our omelets were sooo fresh. The personalized menus were just a cute touch! Overall, fantastic stay with Leigh and Matt. They were such a happy couple and I'm so glad I found them. The ideal B&B experience! Perfect location, just a couple blocks from the Village Green (and the free Acadia shuttle buses) and an easy walk to the Shore Path, the harbor, and every restaurant or bar you'd like to visit. Beautiful, cozy rooms (with AC & heat, depending on spontaneous Maine weather adjustments). Incredibly easy logistics for checking in and checking out. Spectacular, daily breakfasts by Matt, which were some of the highlights of our trip (plus delicious snacks available mid-day). Most importantly, Leigh and Matt are wonderful, gracious hosts. They immediately made us feel at home, were attentive to our needs, and gave us great suggestions and feedback on our plans for Acadia and Bar Harbor (and always had thoughts on back-ups to plan around potential weather changes). We would not hesitate to stay here again (and in fact, definitely plan to do so). And if you have the opportunity, try staying in the Red Oak room on the third floor - when the weather is nice, the private deck is the perfect place to start your day or unwind after a hike. read more

I've stayed at a lot of B&Bs during my life (I'm CEO of a travel company) and this establishment ranks among the best of them. It's the place where I would go again if I ever return to Bar Harbor. The main thing that sets them apart is the way Matt and Leigh notice and take care of the little things. They are well schooled in the art of hospitality and it shows! The rooms are well appointed and the building well maintained. The beds are excellent. The A/C worked well. The breakfasts were creative and delicious (Matt is a fine chef). The personalized notes on the room door and at breakfast creates a sense of connection. There are lots of resources to help you optimize your time in the area based on your areas of interest. Their location is great with all key venues (including the free shuttles -- which I highly recommend) within easy walking distance. This was an amazing find!!! I had never been to Maine, but was attending my friends wedding. I happened upon The Maples Inn when looking for somewhere to stay. I could not be happier to have stayed at this adorable Inn! The location was perfect, just a short walk into town and everything you needed was right there. A short drive to Acadia and the park has so much to see and explore. The Inn is not only adorable with great rooms, but tastefully decorated and so clean! Also, very quiet, we had the most restful nights sleep in forever and yet the Inn was quite full of guests. We recently completed our sixth stay at Maples Inn (3rd with Matt & Leigh). If anything has changed it is that Leigh is even more charming and Matt's breakfasts are even more amazing. The innkeepers remain in tune with their guests' needs and strive to exceed them. The service is excellent. The inn is well maintained and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts on this trip included a variety of omelets, include El Norteño - the biggest, baddest hombre of an omelet east of New Mexico - stuffed with carne asada and cheese and drowning in Matt's incredible New Mexico red chili sauce. The "Santa Fe Trail" was also a favorite - eggs, cheese, and house made chorizo stuffed between two fluffy biscuits and coated in red chili sauce. We also enjoyed banana bread French toast with Nutella spread and a piece of blueberry stuffed French toast so large that a show dog couldn't jump over it. Matt & Leigh recommended several great ideas for our stay in Bar Harbor from restaurants to tours to hikes in Acadia. We especially admire Matt & Leigh's ability to relate to guests of all age ranges and interests. We will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Maples Inn based on a recommendation from a friend in Boston. During our check-in, we met our host Leigh. She was very friendly and made us feel welcomed right away. We had many questions regarding activities in Bar Harbor/Acadia and she provided us with a wealth of information. They also have an awesome app that we used throughout our stay that provided insights to many of the areas dining and activities, including their own recommendations. We stayed in the Red Oak room on the 3rd floor that had its own private deck. This was a perfect place to start our day with a cup of coffee and one of Matt's home cooked pastries. Our morning continued with a delicious home cooked breakfast in the dining room provided by our host Matt. I can't believe there are only 2 reviews on this place!! It deserves a lot more recognition than that. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 days in the middle of July and it was such a wonderful experience. Before we even left, we were talking about coming back again! It's a great location because it's right by everything and you can walk everywhere, but it's on a side street that's nice and quiet. The garden in the front is full of beautiful flowers and we spent every night reading and drinking wine on the big front porch. Mark was the most hospitable, kind, and helpful innkeeper in the world! Anyone who feels unsure about the B&B experience should go for it at the Maples. He makes you feel very comfortable and welcomed right away. Not to mention, his AMAZING breakfast. Holy moly!! I don't think I've ever had such amazing breakfast food. Every day was something different and more delicious than the last. We woke up after only 2 hours of sleep (we had gone up Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunrise) just to have the breakfast. Mark always had great suggestions of things to do and places to check out. The room and bathroom was not huge (we stayed in the English Holly room), but in a place like Bar Harbor/Acadia you don't spend much time in the room. We had been on a road trip for 2 weeks and all of our luggage fit in the room with no issues. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms were clean and well decorated. I have stayed in multiple bed and breakfasts, and this one is hands-down the best I have been to. Leigh and Matt are so wonderful and personable. They are there to make sure your experience in Bar Harbor is one you'll never forget. Leigh is so helpful with ideas and suggestions on what to do, where to eat, hidden spots & how to spend your day. she is more than willing to answer any questions, anytime. Matt is Leigh's husband and the chef there. Matt always had the door half opened in the kitchen with music playing so you can smell his delicious cooking and watch him dancing and having a great time while he does it. It radiates light and positivity. Everyone in the dining room talked to each other about their plans for the day, what they did the day before, suggestions & ideas... everything you want from a b&b.. The environment is unmatched. Matt Was also quick to answer any questions and give us recipes from some of his breakfast that we asked for, you don't get that a lot from chefs... But these two are not quite like anybody else. They are better. Can't say enough about the charm this house held as well. We stayed in the blue room and it was amazing. So spacious and Leigh made sure we had firewood to start a fire in the living room area. There was also complimentary wine in there, as if the nighttime & morning snacks prepared fresh every day weren't enough. Their attention to detail is superb. They care hard, and it really shows. My mom and I stayed in the Shore Pine Room for 4 nights at the beginning of May to celebrate Mother's Day. The whole trip was great and I can't recommend a trip to Mount Desert Island to visit Acadia and stay at Maples Inn enough. Matt and Leigh have a good thing going with their B&B. Leigh plays hostess with the mostess and has a genuine way about her as she interacts with the guests and Matt's breakfasts and treats were delicious. The accommodations are well thought out and nothing that came to mind was missing. The location made for a great home base as it was easy to access the park to explore by day and then stroll Bar Harbor at night to grab a bite/drink from a local eatery. Staying at Maples Inn Bed and Breakfast was truly a remarkable experience. We were greeted by the inn owner, Leigh, who gave a brief tour of the house and extensive info, as well as brochures, of Bar Harbor. We stayed in the Red Oak room, which was located on the third floor. Going up the stairs we came across a library, which had a "take one, leave one" policy, as well as some games you could borrow. Inside our room we had a private balcony, know as the tree house. Each room comes equipped with luxurious bath soaps, bath towels, and guest robes. Every morning you are invited to have breakfast, cooked to order by the husband of the inn owner, Matt. After grabbing a cup of coffee, from the lobby area, you can sit down and have a look at your personalized menu. With more than four choices to choose from, you can't seem to make up your mind. Accompanied with every breakfast, are either fresh scones or breads, also prepared by Matt. And in the afternoons, there are different cookies to munch on! My only regret while staying at this wonderful inn was that I couldn't stay any longer. I cannot wait to return! read more

If I could review this twice to give them 10 stars, I would. You need to plan your trip around staying here and I'm not kidding at all. The Maples Inn is SO cute, SO clean, and perfectly located in downtown Bar Habor. (Cleanliness is a big thing for me, and I would have walked around barefoot. Seriously.) It's just off the path but not at all far away, so it's great because you don't have to deal with extra traffic or noise of downtown. We stayed in the smallest room since our vacation was adventure-packed, but it was plenty of room especially since the rest of the B&B is adorable with several spaces to hang out. It's intimate and cozy, but not at all cramped - it just feels like a true, classic bed and breakfast. And the proprietors! Leigh and Matt are AMAZING and I didn't want to leave. They're the cutest couple ever. Matt is an incredible chef and breakfast was to die for. The cutest little touches every morning. Leigh is so kind and was abundantly helpful before and during our trip. She is so organized, professional, and detail-oriented -- but also warm, inviting, and personalizes every guest's experience. She'll remember things and care about your day. My then-boyfriend (now-fiance!!) and I visited for our first extended vacation without family, and we really felt the love from L&M. How can you beat that? The amount of people I've referred to The Maples Inn ... I can't even count. I've told everyone who even mentioned possibly thinking about visiting Maine in general. Also, I visited over a year ago (June 2018), so I feel so awful for just posting this now. But to this day, we compare everywhere we stay to the Maples Inn, and they rarely match up. read more

The Inn was spotless and tastefully decorated with antiques for a New England B&B. Our suite was SO cozy! I felt like I was sleeping at home in my own bed! The linens were nice quality and even though the shower was small (stall-style) the bed and sitting room made up for it. What a wonderful stay at The Maples Inn in August. Matt and Leigh were so accommodating. Upon our arrival we were asked about any allergies and food restrictions, then Leigh gave us so much information about what to do and where to eat. It was like having our own travel guide! Our room was spotless, comfortable and so homey. The bed was very comfortable and the room was so quiet. Each morning there was a homemade "pre-breakfast" treat, scones, pecan cake. I honestly felt like I was at home, but better. Super easy check in, even though we had an after-hours check in. Breakfast was always amazing. I called to make the reservations and Leigh was super nice and courteous. I decided not to book immediately and said I would call back if we were interested and there was no pressure from her to reserve anything. I eventually called back and she was again very kind. Upon arrival we were very kindly greeted by Leigh and given a "tour" of the cozy place. There was plenty of coffee, hot chocolate, tea and water available and even homemade macaroons! Our room was just as described--very cozy and adorable. I absolutely loved it! They even put our names on the door which I thought was a super cute addition. The amenities in the bathroom (soaps, robe, towels, etc) were all very luxurious! The bedroom was a great size and the bed was ridiculous comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order with our names printed in the menus. How cute!? The pancakes were delicious!! My boyfriend doesn't eat pork and they didn't have turkey or chicken sausages so Leigh took a quick trip to the store to buy some. (: They are located very close to "downtown" where there is a large selection of restaurants and shops. I felt very comfortable throughout our whole stay, referring to the location, the room and with Leigh and Matt. From the Keureg with an assortment of coffees, hot chocolates and teas in foyer 24/7 to freshly baked goods morning and afternoon and the plush robes, it was evident that thought and care went into ensuring our creature comforts. Matt's breakfasts were quite a treat (and generous) with our choices freshly prepared from changing daily menus. It was our first visit to the area. I approach B&B's with much trepidation; not sure of the physical space, the degree of privacy and most importantly, the owners' personalities. At Maples Inn my fears were allayed - our stay there far exceeded all expectations. Innkeepers Leigh & Matt have hospitality in their veins and their collective experiences run deep, well beyond their years. From the charming suite with working fireplace in their 1902 house, to the huge fluffy beds with crisp linens, personalized menus with choices of well-executed entrees, the targeted recommendations on where to go & what to do, the waiting port in crystal glasses with homemade cookies at night, this husband and wife team have it going on. Their skills each perfectly complement one another. Wonderful aromas of baking throughout the day, Eggs Benedict with Lobster if you want, trading easy stories with warm humor, smiling faces and respectful interactions with their guests all made us feel like we may have left with two new friends. We experienced personalized luxury that is very hard to replicate. When we return to Bar Harbor, we will not consider staying anywhere else. I can not say enough good things about The Maples Inn. We stayed three nights during our 10-day Maine vacation. The hosts (Leigh and Matt) were welcoming, gracious, informative and very friendly. They offered dining tips and "things-to-do" advice, were very knowledgeable about the region, and OMG - the breakfast!! Not only was the food delicious, it was cooked to order and prepared specifically to each guest's liking. The accommodations were great. The bed was very comfortable, the entire Inn was very clean and the front porch was a great place to hang out for morning coffee, afternoon beverages, and to people watch. The hosts were there when you needed them but never did we feel like we were staying at someone's house (which I have felt at other B&Bs). Had a very nice stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Silver Maple Room on the second floor. Mark the owner is a very accommodating host and innkeeper. Breakfast was 8:30 every morning but he had coffee and tea , muffins and pastries out by 6:30 if you were an early riser. He is very very knowledgeable about the local restaurant and things to do scene. The inn is decorated with his antiques and things passed down from his family. Located within an easy flat 5 minute walk to downtown shops,galleries,restaurants, and waterfront. About 2 miles to Acadia National Park entrance. It's located on a very quiet residential street. Maples Inn is the most delightful, charming B&B I've ever stayed at. My friends and I took a road trip up the coast, and we were only able to stay here for one night, but we wished it could have been much longer! We are currently on our way home from an incredible weekend in Bar Harbor. Leigh and Matt were prefect hosts with great attention to detail and thoughtful touches everywhere. We were in town celebrating our anniversary (it also doubled as a babymoon) and arrived to chocolate-covered strawberries and macaroons upon check in. Leigh was so helpful in giving us information for our planned excursion to Acadia, and also helped us find great places for dinner both nights. Warm, hearty- homemade breakfasts each morning and homemade snacks each afternoon were such a treat. Words cannot do the breakfasts justice - they were amazing. The Maples is hands-down one of the cleanest B&Bs I've ever stayed in. Every nook was absolutely spotless. The care that Leigh and Matt show for their guests cannot be understated. The next time we retreat to Bar Harbor as a couple, The Maples will be our place of choice. read more
