Had the best time at Holbrook. Clean quiet rooms and amazing breakfast. Walkable to everything- obsessed!

We b booked a room for 2 nights. Because I'm orthopediically challenged I requested a first floor room. We showed up and were escorted to a second floor room. The owner helped me get my suitcase up but still stairs and I don't get along well. I would have forgiven this but our room was a joke. 1. The decor was... eclectic. Meaning nothing matched. The wallpaper was peeling. The carpet was wrinkling and coming up in the corners. 2. No closet, no safe, no coffee maker (they served coffee in a sitting room... down the stairs) 3. The bed was designed by Torquemada. After one sleepless night my wife and I were ready to confess to heresy or treason. It was the most uncomfortable bed I've encountered in decades. The pillows smelled like they hadn't been washed. The bed wasn't level. The mattress was lumpy. We did not sleep ... maybe two hours. 4. The bathroom had a shower. Because of my handicap need to have my wife help me into bathtubs so I elected not to shower. 5. You would think that for $380 they could afford something better than Motel 6 soaps. Very cheap. So after one sleepless night we checked out. The owner said because we booked through Expedia we needed to deal with them. Expedia told us after a day that the owner would not waive their no refund fee so I'm out $380 for that second night. You're better off camping in a tent. Never again. read more

The furniture looked like it was purchased at flea markets. some of it was prettyn nice but nothing matched and it looked seriously ugly. 5. no closet to hang coats, no safe, no real desk. there was a table that I managed to use as a makeshift desk. 6. the bathroom had a tub but no shower. I can't negotiate that tub step in any more without assistance from my wife, so I opted NOT to shower. Regardless, the hotel supplied Motel 6 style soaps and stuff... I can live with that but not for $380 a night. 7. The place was a B and B and the owner prepared breakfast. It wasn't horrible, but was... meh. This could have been due to my bad mood after not being able to sleep all night., so I'll give that a pass. 8. We booked for two nights. We checked out after one night. Neither the hotel nor expedia agreed to a refund, so I'm out $380. For that money I warn the public STAY AWAY from Holbrook House. read more

This was our absolute favorite stay on our trip from Boston up the coast of Maine for our first week away as a married couple. We stayed in the Robins Nest room and it was beautiful, spacious and had the cutest fireplace. The room was immaculately clean, the bed was comfortable, it was very quiet, and it was the perfect spot to relax after a day of hiking. When we arrived, Eric greeted us and walked us around the house before showing us to our room. There was coffee, tea and pastries available all afternoon and a delicious breakfast (also a grab and go option if you're wanting to get up to Acadia early). They accommodated our dietary restrictions and the food was fresh and delicious. Eric also provided us with a few great dinner recommendations and was helpful anytime we had questions about Bar Harbor and Acadia. We felt like we were absolutely among friends here and appreciated the company. Everyone was respectful of covid restrictions and minded their space while maintaining a high level of friendliness. It was just a quick 5 minute walk to the heart of Bar Harbor and a 5 minute drive to the entrance of Acadia. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay and if we venture back to Bar Harbor, we would absolutely stay again. My husband loved our stay so much, he would love to stay in B&Bs on all of our other vacations as well. We would absolutely recommend the Holbrook House to anyone coming to the area! read more

Lovely stay with tasty breakfast. We stayed at Holbrook House Bed and Breakfast for two nights. The bed and temperature of the room were comfortable, the water pressure of the shower was good, and the shower did not require much time to heat up. The large front porch provided a pleasant setting to sit and read. For breakfast, we had monte cristo sandwiches on the first day and gluten free Belgian waffles on the second. There were also other menu options available if the entree of the day is not your preference. I enjoyed both breakfasts. Starting in the afternoon , there were also two different types of individually-bagged, fresh desserts available in the breakfast area, and there was a recycling bin in the lobby. My stay at Holbrook House Bed and Breakfast was excellent, and I would recommend staying with them. read more

Absolutely wonderful place to stay in Bar Harbor . From the moment we stepped in and until our departure, we found the whole experience just perfect . The comfortable,super clean rooms and extremely accommodating staff made our stay extra special . Daily housekeeping services were spot on. The breakfast was delicious and they even provided us a "to go" option on the mornings we trekked out early . The gathering spaces made for great chat sessions with the other friends in our group ! the grounds/gardens themselves are just gorgeous and peace!We have stayed in many BNB's through the years , but this one is our favorite ! An absolute gem! We LOVED every second of our stay in the Lafayette Suite, my husband and I had the joy of staying here for 2 nights around 4th of July weekend - it did not disappoint! We arrived and were greeted by the awesome bnb host, who explained all the logistics of breakfast etc, and guided us on a tour through the house and surrounding areas. We were then shown into our room, which is unattached to the main building, and has a small semi-private parking lot closer to our room. The room was stunning. SUPER clean, plenty of space, and wonderfully cozy. The bed was cloud-like comfortable and we fell asleep so soundly each night! The bathroom was massive and there's a rain shower (heaven!) to boot. Breakfast was included in our room rate, and we had breakfast our first morning there. It was delicious, we were served monte cristo sandwiches (which were delicious!) and fresh fruit. For the second morning, we opted to explore town and check out a local eatery. The hospitality was unbeatable, the location was within walking distance to everything in town, and the room was stunning. A definite recommendation if you're headed in the area!! read more

Excellent location - walk to any place in town. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park offer all levels of activity from strenuous to easy carriage path walks - or sit on the porch and read. Our suite was roomy, well-appointed (including a small fridge) and private, with a separate outdoor seating area in addition to the garden area with its lovely plantings. My husband and I spent a few days at Holbrook House on our honeymoon. Our expectations were high, as the pictures make it look beautiful, and I am so glad to say that we were not disappointed. The room was cozy, lush, luxurious, and private. The shower was easily the best shower of my life. The downstairs was cozy and lovely. We spent some time reading on the porch, relaxing in the dining area, and sitting back in the living room. It was all comfortable and the hosts were lovely - very friendly, very helpful in making plans, yet giving us our space. Then there was the food! My husband is a chef and can be a little picky. Their breakfast, afternoon snacks, and coffee all impressed. We will absolutely be staying here again. read more

We had originally planned to attend a wedding in Bar Harbor in June of last year. Like many events, the wedding was postponed due to Covid. Michelle and Eric were kind enough to allow us to carry the reservation forward to this year. The inn is absolutely lovely. It is a lovely yellow house, surrounded by beautiful gardens. We saw a couple sitting out on the large front porch with a cup of tea or coffee, and others in Adirondack chairs on the lawn enjoying a glass of wine and watching the world go by. Breakfasts were delicious. If the entree of the day didn't appeal, there were several choices (bagel, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs) that could be substituted. The innkeepers checked to ensure that there were no food allergies upon arrival. Because visitors are arriving from all parts of the country, masks are mandated in the public indoor areas of the inn, due to COVID-19. We are vaccinated, but as we emerge from the isolation of last year and travel for the first time, it felt safe to wear a mask. We had chosen the smallest room, but it is still lovely. It was toward the back of the house and on a side street, but was very quiet at night. The en-suite bath had a lovely claw-foot tub. The location made it easy to walk into town and there was ample parking as well. We would definitely recommend the inn to others and would go back again. read more

I had a wonderful time at Holbrook House over the Memorial Day weekend! Me and my friend stayed in Garden room which was one queen size bed with full bath 2nd floor. It may be too small for some people but it was big enough for me. The house was very cozy and made me feel I was staying my own house. The location was perfect! They had big parking lot in the side of the house, and walking distance to everywhere in Bar Harbor. About 5 min drive from Arcadia National Park entrance. Michelle and Eric were super nice and welcoming us. Michelle went over the map of Bar Harbor with us and told us what we should do and where we should go. The part of this place is Michelle and Eric but also Michelle's cooking! OMG everything was amazing. I really wanted to get recipe of all her cooking! If you are foodie, please, stay their place and enjoy her cooking. It could be off season when we went so I am not sure how the price would be during high season; however, it was perfect price. I would love to stay again if ever I go back to Maine. read more

What an incredible place! Such a cozy and inviting B&B. We stayed here during our first trip to Bar Harbor and we are in love with it. The couple that runs it is so incredibly kind and helpful. Just arrived to the lovely Holbrook House. The hosts are so friendly and helpful, from the homemade delicious afternoon tea and breakfast, to the directions to Acadia National park trails. The Cadillac Suite accommodated our family of four. Two bedrooms. One smaller one, another larger one with a sitting room with a flat screen tv. We also had a private bathroom. Location is perfect. A short walk to Bar Harbor and our favorite restaurant, Cafe This Way. Free wifi, but the signal can be a weak at times, but it was not a huge problem for us. read more

This is a wonderful little bed and breakfast. First off, the innkeepers are so lovely, friendly and super down to earth. The inn itself is so beautiful, well furnished and comfortable. And I can't get over the breakfasts every morning. The wife makes all the breakfast from scratch and I believe she takes many of her recipes from the Art of Breakfast cookbook. The Holbrook House is a beautiful bed and breakfast in Bar Harbor. Our room was clean and cozy - decorated beautifully. Each room has small gifts in them for you on arrival. Provided enough clean towels, shampoo, conditioner, etc. Breakfast was incredible. Eric and Michelle are wonderful hosts and have really done a great job with this place. AWESOME! My husband & I, along with our favorite three travel couples, stayed here recently for 7 nights. The breakfasts were interesting & scrumptious, served up with a fresh fruit dish every morning. Michelle created culinary works of art, and Eric doles it out. Eric is full of information and it's entertaining to hear how they run the place. After filling up on the full-scale breakfast, coffee, cucumber water, cookies, and bananas, oranges, were available almost always. Perfect for the late nights when too much wine was imbibed out on the lawn while laughing at passers-by who looked curiously our way when our travel mates would "let one rip" via a Bose bluetooth speaker hidden in the bushes and an iPhone app. What can I say, we're easily amused. Anyhoo, the location of this B&B couldn't be more perfect. Just a half mile walk to the shops and restaurants of the vibrant yet still quaint town of 'Bah hah-bah,' we walked everywhere except when we went to Acadia. "Robin's Nest" was our room. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, and the sheets just how I like them, soft, yet crisp and cool. Rose, the B&B's maid service was awesome too! I loved Pooka the pooch and played with her a lot, as I was missing my Schweenie. As a girl who likes her "girlie things" like my shampoos, hair mousse, etc.....I would have liked a little more room at the vanity to s-p-r-e-a-d o-u-t, but after day 2, I realized, less is more.
