My husband and I loved our stay at Ann's Point Inn! The Inn and rooms are luxurious and comfortable. The view was perfect and we found ourselves relaxed and refreshed after long days in Acadia. The Inn owners were warm and welcoming. When we slept in and skipped breakfast, they still ensured we had a bag of delicious scones to take with us! Breakfast on the scenic back deck, however, was the highlight!

Fantastic, cute B&B walking distance to the main strip of Southwest Harbor…read more My wife and I stayed here for our 15th wedding anniversary and so got the top-floor suite with private deck complete with hot tub as well as a kitchen/living area. The whole space was amazing, but the massive private deck with the view was really the best part. The deck was so big with so many seating spaces that even across two nights we didn't manage to use all of them. There were two day beds under a small roof which we pushed together and wound up falling asleep under the stars both nights and moving into the room later in the night. The hot tub was everything you'd expect. There was a table we ate dinner at one night and a lounging area we never got to use. The only downside was that the deck was super-wet from dew each morning. The day bed under the roof was dry enough for us to eat the breakfast they brought up to the room on while enjoying the view. We didn't use the communal heated pool or honor system bar, but they both looked nice if you were staying somewhere other than the top floor with the private deck. The location is great. Other than the view, it was a 7-minute walk to Beal's lobster pier for lobsters and lobster rolls and a 12-minute walk into town where we had our anniversary dinner at Harbor Table and there's other nice things in town as well. The included breakfast was also good and better when served in our room. The first morning it was blueberry spread on a baguette where the bottom half was French toast. It was different and delicious especially with bacon on the side. The room itself was spacious with a huge bathroom and a living and kitchen area that we badly used other than the decent sized fridge which was great to keep lobster rolls for the next day and beer for the evenings. The bedroom itself was a bit smaller than you'd imagine and only had a queen-sized bed just because of the layout of the top floor, which used to be an attic. Overall, the only downside is that they don't allow kids, so if we ever come back and come with them (which is likely), we'd need to find another place.

The rooms we saw were beautifully done and in great shape. Housekeeping was excellent. Breakfast was great and abundant! Yogurt and fresh fruit, home baked coffee cake, and then a main, eg pancakes with blueberries, sausage and egg, or French Toast with same, etc. And we loved the hot tub -- just the ticket after a day of hiking. Would definitely return!

This time, it was a last minute, impromptu road trip, to Niagara Falls, Canada, Maine, Cape Cod. On leaving Niagara Falls, I was a bit concerned on our drive to Maine as we had no accommodations reserved. On calling a few hotels in the area, we found out that they were all full. I suggested a BnB to my husband but he seemed very hesitant as we had never stayed in one before. I called a few BnB's in the area and they were all full. One of the ladies suggested that I call the chamber of commerce in Bar Harbor. On calling the Chamber, we were given the name and numbers of 3 BnB's. That is how we got to Bass Harbor Inn. We got there late at night and Barbara the Inn Keeper had made it easy for us to access her BnB and left the lights in the room on for us. The room though small was clean and comfortable. We had a half a bath inside in our room which was pretty small but functional and clean. We did have to step out of the room to take a shower which we did not mind as it was very private and clean. The whole house was extremely quiet which gave us a much needed restful night. Upon waking up in the morning, we joined Barbara and her husband Alan for breakfast. Barbara was extremely helpful and full of knowledge about the area. She gave us a few maps and recommended that we go to Acadia National Park. The breakfast was very simple. It consisted of juice, coffee, and baked breads. We had a wonderful day at Acadia National Park and came home to a good night sleep. We checked out this morning. My husband overcame his skepticism of BnB as he felt the stay was very comfortable. His only suggestion was that he expected a better breakfast.

The place only has wifi in the owners house (although to their credit, we were able to connect in our room despite being told we would be unable to get a signal). The real surprise came after dinner. When we arrived back at our room and began to get settled in, I noticed a bug on the wall. No big deal, as a one bug can get into another room. And then i saw another, and another, and then some on the floor, and crawling out from the painting! In total, I counted FIFTEEN BUGS! At this point we are of course not staying in the room. So I proceed to the office and buzz the door since its after hours. No response. I buzzed even longer the second time......Still no response. I buzzed a third time, for what seemed like an eternity and still got no response. At this point, I decided to start knocking on the door, as this was a serious issue and i got no response using the buzzer (which tells you to ring it after hours). No response. I pounded on the door a second time and after a few minutes someone finally comes. It was the husband, who unlike the lady running the place, was apologetic to our problems and took us to another room.....WHICH HAD MORE BUGS ON THE WALL. I went back downstairs to address the new bug problem and out comes the lady. She marches up to the rooms asking "what is this I hear about a bug problem in room 5?". She marches in and I show her the bug on the wall, which is crawling around (EWWWWW!). She proceeds to smush it with her finger and told us she had not charged our card yet but did not offer us a third room and gave us a glaring look as though she had fixed the problem and we should be grateful to have a second bug filled room. Is a bug free room that much to ask for?! Thankfully we had family staying at the local campground in an RV, otherwise we probably would have been out in the rainstorm. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

This was an absolutely lovely place to stay while on vacation on Mount Desert Island…read more The cabin was redone fully so the interior was all wood. It smelled amazing and was so clean. It was the most luxurious place I'd ever stayed! Tucked off the main street in Southwest Harbor, this is a quiet little spot with well maintained grounds and amazingly organized cabins. Top notch bed and pillows. It's about a twenty minute drive to Bar Harbor, but it's easy and quick once you get the feeling of the layout. The "office" has extra swimming towels, movies, and books about Acadia. It's really awesome how the owners, Tom and Vickie, care about their customers. A downside was barely seeing the owners! We went in during their office hours but didn't see them. We received an invoice, and I was sad to not chat within our 48 hours of staying there. The 10am check out also was pretty brutal. You also clean your own cabin, which is okay, but we made breakfast and tea- doing dishes while packing up and paying the expensive price before 10? That was not great. It's pricey here, but it's so luxurious and beautiful, it's worth the splurge.

Everything about Harbour Cottage Inn from start to finish was perfect. The check-in was seamless and I was greeted warmly while being shown around the property. My room was clean and spacious with a large comfortable bed and soft linens. The bathroom had all the necessary toiletries and the shower had ample water pressure. I appreciated all of the little touches from the afternoon sweet treats in the common area to the thoughtful breakfast dishes. I appreciated the endless supply of coffee and the fresh lemon water. It was wonderful to sit and enjoy breakfast on the patio as well as an evening meal when the dining area turned into the Bowspirit. All of the meals were absolutely phenomenal and some of the best I had while visiting Maine. I would not hesitate to come back and stay here again. Preferably sooner rather than later! Gretchen makes you a full breakfast each morning, to get you ready to explore or in my case work. Three bedrooms with private baths. It's an old house so bathrooms are not in the rooms but near them. You can use the fridge to keep things cold and use the washer if needed. "Not your standard B&B."…read more Gretchen is a delightful innkeeper. She has a wealth of world experiences and knowledge that makes for great conversation. Having been traveling for two weeks and staying at all B&B's, we have quite an ability to compare B&B lodgings. Speaking specifically about the Inn, you stay in the home of the innkeeper, using her living area for your living area. The living area has a very worn look. There is a big, black, well-loved cat in the living area, so beware, if you happen to be allergic, which is my case. There are tall steps to the second floor, which has the 3 rooms for rent, along with the innkeepers room. Each bedroom is large and nicely decorated and has a private bath, but they are down a narrow hall outside of your room. The bathrooms are nicely remodeled. The carpet down the narrow hallway is very worn, discolored and doesn't cover the exposed planks of wood leading into the rooms and bathrooms. Gretchen has a set breakfast menu for each day of the week. This does not allow for substitutions for dietary needs. I am not a heavy breakfast eater, so I like the idea of having a variety of foods to be offered. (toast or bagel, yogurt, hard boiled egg) If you don't want eat the planned menu, then cereal is the choice. So depending upon what you are wanting for as a B&B experience, you may enjoy Penury Hall. I think for $165/night it is very overpriced, compared to where we have been staying. The rooms were not tended to during the day. I do not want to discount the joy of visiting with Gretchen, but the cost of the stay is not the value that we expected. Room Tip: No WiFi in the bedrooms, but it is available in the living room.
