We were on our honeymoon and she was more accommodating than we could've ever wished. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Fuchias line her lovely wrap around porch; the garden is like a Victorian dream. You can see views of the wonderful ocean and sunset from the cupola. She was sweet enough to allow our service dogs to stay, and she spoiled them rotten. She had every type of drink and sweet, snack, chocolate and treat you could ask for (at a minimal fee). The house is beautifully decorated. The bed was the most comfortable bed that we've ever stayed in other than our one at home.We spent one day in Acadia and found the drive between Sargentville and Acadia absolutely beautiful. Annie even had a perfect picnic basket in which she allowed us to pack a wonderful picnic to take to Acadia. She also recommended an awesome local spot called the Fishnet that had amazing lobstah rolls ;) If you're looking for a nice place to stay that is not a tourist trap, it's totally worth the drive. We quickly realized that Wi-Fi in the entire Acadia to Sargentville area is very limited. Although Wi-Fi is available at Annie's, it is limited. I had issues on my laptop, however my husband watched an entire movie on his iPad. But, seeing as we're from the mountains, we were completely understanding of the fact that when you're off the grid you should get off the Internet. I have already recommended Maplehurst to several friends. Annie brings southern hospitality to the most northern part of the US.

Being there makes you feel so far away in the best way possible. But the shining star of the town has to be the Pentagoet run by the most wonderful innkeepers, Matt & George, and a truly lovely staff! Everyone we encountered on their team was kind, friendly and offered excellent service. It's easy to just park your car on main street or on the side of the inn and then from the minute you walk into the space, you are blown away at all of the decor and details that make it feel comfortable, classy and modern and at the same time so true to the inn's Victorian history. You can tell each corner of the inn has been decorated intentionally and with much care. Our room (#3) was comfortable, clean and had so many fantastic details like a signature smell, complimentary bath/shower items, and of course - the signature balcony (AMAZING!). The communal spaces are fantastic as well. The patio is gorgeous, the porch is so peaceful, and the pub is incredibly cozy and chic. Breakfast was delicious and they also offer coffee service upstairs outside of the rooms, which is such a great touch. The food and drinks at the pub are also outstanding!! For good reason, the restaurant books up fast so definitely always make a reservation whether you are staying or only coming for dinner but you certainly won't regret experiencing the cocktails (love the blueberry one..so Maine!) and the food. The menu is seasonal I believe but everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The ode to lobster on the menu was also quintessential Maine and so good.. my husband had lobster linguini. I had short rib sliders that were also amazing. If you get the chance to try the blueberry cobbler or chocolate tres leches, do it!! Those are two desserts my husband and I will never forget. Actually.. the whole place and experience is something we will never forget. It was a highlight of our Maine vacation and we will forever be grateful to Matt and George for the space they have created and remarkable levels of hospitality that feel truly special! Thank you Matt, George and the Pentagoet team!

The owners, Matt & George, could not have been more welcoming from the moment we walked in the front door. The property itself is oozing with rich history and the interiors have been brilliantly restored (well done, George!), making this stay feel like both a step into the past and luxury pampering. Matt is quite the chef, and the inn's evening menu sings with local comfort foods, each item delicious and unique (we tried most of the menu). Downeast Maine may have stolen my heart on this trip, but it's the Pentagoet that has been top of mind since we left. I can't wait to return!

Phil and Donna are very gracious hosts and will go out of their way to help make your stay the best. Donna is a great cook and she comes up with some amazing dishes. This is lobster paradise and my favorite dish she made for breakfast was the lobster omelet. And her muffins are to die for. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. They both encourage everyone to treat their home as your own. You can stroll the grounds, sit in the gazebo and read, or just sit and take in the gorgeous views of the mountains. There is a great place to go for lunch, lobster of course, just down the road. We were there in August and the weather was spectacular. We want to go back and spend more time there as soon as possible. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Just give Donna a call.

We will definitely revisit Wave Walker, and plan to stay more nights. I highly recommend this B&B.

Les greeted us and took the time to show us to our room on the third floor telling us all about the history of the property on the way. Someone complained in another review that there are stairs up to the third floor. It is true. They are wooden, steep, and full of character. The floors are original and slope and creak as expected, but are beautifully painted and well kept. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was perfect, looking like it was remodeled yesterday. Since we realized there was not going to be a lot of dining choices, we stopped at a grocery on our way in for a light picnic dinner of cheese, crackers, fruit and a bottle of wine to enjoy by the water. It was a perfect evening to watch the sunset on one of the two waterfront areas on the property. It was only my husband and me. We could see another couple sitting on the rocks, but it still felt so private and it truly felt like something out of a romantic movie. The next morning we enjoyed the best blueberry muffins provided by the host and coffee on the front porch of the inn. As we sat looking down toward the water both a deer and a red fox came through the yard as a humming flew around the beautiful flowers. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I almost want to keep this gem a secret!

Excellent! We enjoyed a DELICIOUS dinner on the patio here,…read moretonight. We were a party of three, seated promptly for our reservation. The Inn/restaurant has new owners from SF. They have brought a remarkable vision to an otherwise pretty ordinary dining experience at this historic 1793 inn in charming Deer Isle (we know bc we dined here last year, too). For this their first year their executive chef Courtney Burns has done something really innovative: she's brought in a summer of guest chefs, each who serves for a month or so, during which they prepare a menu reflecting their unique vision, drawing from the bounty of local and regional Maine small batch artisanal ingredients. This is brilliant: a rotation of innovative chefs each with their own vision. So long as the quality remains high, then one can return to dine at the same place but with a different menu several times over any given season. We were lucky to have meals designed by chef Andre Garza, from Houston. I had the short ribs. They were delicious, cooked for 72 hours, very tender, served on a bed of slightly sweet carrot puree, and then topped with spray of arugula and a swirl of some very delicately infused oil, infused with just the faintest scent of a smoky pepper - not sure if it was chipotle or exactly what. I was a little concerned that the pepper influence might overwhelm the short ribs, but I was impressed with what was delivered. It was perfect. Whatever the specific pepper and technique he used was, he used it delicately and in such a way as to marry the umami experience of the short ribs against the sweet carrot puree and the slightly bitter arugula. It was actually very, very, VERY good and a lesser chef might have turned it into some tex mex experience, which I was not interested in on this occasion. The kitchen hit a home run with this. Others in the party had the baked halibut, served atop creamy grits, with a smoked fish sauce; and another had the the lobster toast and scallops in some citrus broth (two appetizers, as an entree). Everyone was very happy with their meals. Remarkable. I'd put this meal up against any great contemporary restaurant here or anywhere. We shared 2 desserts: a blueberry "crumble", more like a blueberry applesauce consistency, with thyme flower crumble on it (nice touch); and a very soft cheese with a dollop of dolce de leche next to it.. Both were really great, and together they were sublime. We're thrilled that the new team has taken the reins and will look forward for trying out the other guest chefs' creations over the course of the summer.
