    Lawn at Inn

First of all, Bar Harbor is one of my favorite destination spots in the world. The Bar Harbor Inn is a must stay, even if for one night. The balcony water view rooms can't be beat! Location is everything. Also, the absolute perfect venue for a wedding! My daughter was married in October 2024 on the lawn at the Bar Harbor Inn and it was simply perfect! We chose the Lobster bake for the reception and it was amazing! BREATHTAKING location for an incredible price...truly! We ended the night with a sunset cruise for our entire wedding party. 10/10 recommend! Core memory!

We stayed here for three nights the end of our Maine vacation. It was fabulous. I highly recommend this magnificent establishment. The grounds are beautiful and the view from most rooms is just spectacular. It's only about a block walk to Main Street with all the shops, restaurants, and main boat dock. You can't do any better

My wife and I stumbled across this VERY nice restaurant just two blocks off the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor. My wife had the lobster bruschetta and lobster bisque soup which in her words was the best she had had on our entire trip to the state of Maine. I had the lobster pasta and clam chowder, which was extremely good and our waitress. Kim took care of us quickly with a smile and a generous pour of the wine.

Even thought it was rainy- still so peaceful and beautiful

Cozy and welcoming stay. Beautiful views, great food and drinks, and truly top-notch service! Main Street with gift shops and restaurants is in walking distance as well

The Bar Harbor Inn is an old school resort experience. The staff are friendly and attentive to every detail of every person's stay. The Reading Room offers three and four course meals overlooking the bay. Everything is clean and welcoming. Guests can spend their days relaxing by the pool, using the fitness room or just watching the boats in the harbor. S'mores at dark for families.

We stayed here on our trip visiting Acadia national park. As soon as you walk in the front door you know you are on vacation. This inn screams vacation. It is perfectly located within walking distance of town, shopping and restaurants. It has a beautiful view of Frenchman's bay. Our room was perfect! It had a separate entrance that was just steps away from the shore path and did I mention Infinity pool? Yes, even a luxurious day spa. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Errol the bellman was especially helpful in helping us getting settled and making our way around the inn. They have 24hr coffee and tea available, as well as afternoon cookies that are set out each day. I was sad I had to leave, highly recommend this first rate place.

    Waiting to get in.

Amazing harbor view restaurant, fresh delicious light lunch menu, and dog friendly. Lobster bisque flavor was always on point but very little pieces of lobster this time? I stop here every time I'm in town.

The Bar harbor Inn is one of the most picturesque hotels I have ever seen. It's in a majestic location and the accommodations are first class Victorian era rooms. The dining room is beautiful with gorgeous views and wonderful food. This hotel itself is a destination. It's very romantic. The location has water views and beautiful porches to sit and enjoy a good book. There are things nearby you can walk to. Be sure to have breakfast in the reading room or dinner. It's just wonderful. I highly recommend staying here.

Perfect romantic getaway! We loved everything about this inn - friendly staff, cozy inviting rooms, lovely view of the water, excellent food in the Reading Room. This was my birthday weekend and it was very special. Acadia is stunning and the Bar Harbor Inn is the perfect retreat after hiking!

Beautiful outside seating. The view of the harbor with boats, is spectacular. I got seated right away. I ordered Chardonnay and lobster. It was delicious. Asparagus was good. Roasted potatoes yummy. Corn on the cob delicious. Waiter was nice.

Went to the Terrace Grill tonight. Menu was, of course, priced for the name, and the food was subpar. Seasoning was lacking. I have had better meals in town and better priced. I know I got the burger but it was overcooked and there were not many other options besides lobster and other seafood items.

Everyone in our group loved their meal--from the pulled pork sandwich and haddock fishburger to the Caprese salad and pizzas. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. One suggestion: consider partnering with the bike rental business next door. It seems like a perfect match! Bikes and brews, anyone? Offering a small discount or coupon for cyclists, or having the bike shop recommend this restaurant as a post-ride stop, would be a win-win for both businesses. It would also make the experience even better for visitors exploring the area--a perfect way to unwind after biking the scenic Schoodic Loop. We'll definitely be back!

While it was once the 41-room summer cottage for the Bowdoin family today it serves as the headquarters of the the Bar Harbor Historical Society. The mansion is also a wedding venue. If, when visiting La Rochelle you are hoping to feel like you are stepping into a time machine to 1903, you'll need a lot of imagination. The mansion has been the home to various families and it has served several purposes since it was the Bowdoin's summer cottage. So, the physical structure is original but very little else is. Also, a lot of the rooms are closed and serve as private offices or storage for the Bar Harbor Historical Society. But, as a bonus, there is a lot of Bar Harbor history and artifacts displayed throughout. What I found most interesting about La Rochelle was the Flower Room including the placement of it. I can recall visiting mansions with a designated area of the kitchen or butler's pantry for assembling flower arrangements but I can't recall one that had a dedicated Flower Room. I also thought it was interesting that the Flower Room was placed adjacent to the main foyer instead of closer to where the servants would be working. La Rochelle is a wonderful piece of Bar Harbor and American history and I am grateful that the Bar Harbor Historical Society was able to purchase La Rochelle to preserve it for future generations. I also appreciate the very kind volunteers that work at the mansion. La Rochelle is am impressive site from West Street but it looks even more impressive from water, or so I imagine. We did not get to see the house from that view but based on pictures, you can really see the elevation of the home and the many chimneys. Before leaving La Rochelle we visited the gift shop which is full of pretty things. I was eyeing up some puzzles but due to very limited space in my suitcase I just purchased a few greeting cards. Overall we had a nice visit to La Rochelle and we were glad to support the Bar Harbor Historical Society.

The location…read moreis great, the parking is nearby, and days prior to arrival they texted me to see if there's anything I needed prior to arrival. The room was well appointed and ready an hour before the check in time. There's a snack station on each floor equipped with cold water bottles, a nice selection of coffees and teas, fruit, and Kind bars. Robes are provided in the rooms, and the room service is from the nearby restaurant Paddy's. Prior to bedtime, we filled out the breakfast room service ordering menu and placed it outside. The first day was great. Room service arrived right on time the next morning. We ate and headed out for the day. I noticed later at night that they didn't leave another room service ordering menu. Figured no big deal, we'll just go down for breakfast the next day. This is when we ran into a few issues - we went down to the restaurant for breakfast at 930 and were told by a staff member at Paddy's that they were backed up with room service orders and she recommended we go across the street for breakfast, or there would be quite a wait. Okay that's fine - we had plans for the day so we ate across the street. A bit frustrating because breakfast was included in our nightly rate. When we got back in the afternoon around 3pm, I noticed the room wasn't cleaned. On the way out for dinner, I spoke with the front desk about housekeeping, and also asked them to make sure we get a room service breakfast order menu as we didn't the day before. When we came back from dinner - only one of the two beds was made. The bathroom floor was not vacuumed, and we didn't have our breakfast order menus. Again, I reached out to the front desk, who sent someone up with the menus. I mentioned the housekeeping issue to the guy who brought the menus up - he clarified that we would like to make sure both beds are made and the bathroom is cleaned .....yes. Felt odd to have to clarify that as this is usually understood. Later that evening we wanted to order room service for dessert - it was difficult to get someone on the phone. Ended up going to the restaurant to get the dessert to-go. The next morning our breakfast did not arrive. I called to follow up - Nicole at the front desk checked with the restaurant and made sure our food would be delivered. Our food arrived, though an hour late and missing one entree. Not Nicole's fault; she was excellent with following up with us. There seems to be some staffing issues as the one person at the front desk is always alone with seemingly a ton of things to be responsible for. I wanted to love this hotel, but the small things do add up. I ended up rather disappointed with my stay.
