The view is five star. I had a panoramic view of the ocean. The hotel does not match the price or the view. The mattresses were horrible. They were definitely not the quality that I usually get at a Hampton Inn. For some reason, the mattresses were marked with the word "summer" in black. I have no clue why. Possibly they put the bad mattresses out for high season. The other furniture in the room was outdated and the fabric was stiff and scratchy. It was not like any other Hampton Inn that I've ever been in. It felt like a two star hotel. They don't even have a microwaves in the rooms. The breakfast was adequate. They had lots of options, but when paying over $500 for a room, I kind of expected a little more when it came to the quality. The staff at the front desk changed my room but it didn't make a difference. I did not sleep good not one of the three nights. The pool area was well kept and the grounds were beautiful. I enjoyed sitting at the bench on the hill taking pictures. Only stay here for the view. read more

A wonderful stay here at the Bar Harbor Hampton Inn. Though this hotel was more expensive ($500/night vs. $280/night) compared to the other (smaller but highly-rated) motels, we decided to splurge to stay here as we are familiar and have always been happy with our Hampton Inn stays. This location did not disappoint! I was able to check-in via the mobile app and select a room. The hotel space was very well-maintained. The room was also great with a large king bed a sofa-bed as we requested. The bathroom and water pressure were great. There were lots of outlets throughout the room as well as an iron, ironing board, alarm clock and refrigerator. The refrigerator was larger than most and had a separate freezer section. There was NO microwave in the room...which was a bit disappointing...especially when you are traveling with kids and frequently need to heat leftovers and other items. Instead, there are two microwaves available for guest use in the lobby. The TV was on the smaller side for a room of that size, but had a lot of channels. The free breakfast they offered was great...better than expected with a few hot options including omelets, sausages and home fries. They also have some other great options including yogurt, granola, fruit, cereal, waffle maker with lots of toppings and good variety of bagels, breads and pastries. There also had some cold juices and milk available for breakfast. There is coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for free all day in the lobby! The fitness center was bigger than expected. I used it twice and it was empty both times. Though we did not use the pools, all of them (indoor, outdoor and hot tub) all seemed well-maintained. Other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves while using them. There was a small "business" area with some work/counter surfaces, chairs and outlets. There was also a small play area with a table stocked with crayons and coloring pages, books, a small tent and a TV with cartoons on at all times! A great little area for the little ones to unwind for a few or just wait while the grown-ups check-in/out. There are a few shuttles available from the hotel that go into Acadia...but we drove and did not need that service. Although it isn't a bad idea...even for those with cars as parking at the popular areas during our early-afternoon ventures into Acadia were very challenging during our visit toward the end of August. Short drive to Acadia (5-10 minutes) entrances. Also, a shorter drive into downtown Bar Harbor (2-3 minutes) or a 10-15-minute walk if desired. Large and free parking lot. We stayed here while visiting Acadia. Hotel was extremely clean. Cleanest bathroom we have seen in a long time. Everyday housekeeping is a plus. After hiking all day it is very nice to come back to made up room with plenty of clean towels. The view from the back rooms was magnificent. The breakfast was just enough to give you that need fuel to get through the day. Location was great- very close to the national park and harbor area All staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area with great recommendations for places to eat Though I little pricey,definitely worth it and made our trip that more special read more

The nicest Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at. The staff were friendly. We had a view of the harbor from our room. The island bus came to the hotel every 15-30 minutes and took us to the Village Green in Bar Harbor. Our room was quite large as we were in a disabled accessible room. The breakfast was excellent. The indoor and outdoor pools were both nice. The exercise room was excellent. Only downside is that it was expensive but understandable considering the location and seasonable nature of the island. We would definitely stay here again. read more

I have never been so disappointed in a Hilton property as I was with the Hampton Inn Bar Harbor. On the morning of my arrival, my mother passed away. In shock and grief, I went to the front desk to explain why I could not stay. While the hotel refunded the second night, the manager, Aiden, refused to waive the first night's charge of $570.16, even after Hilton Honors and Hilton Guest Services called on my behalf. I understand hotel policies, but this was not an ordinary situation. I am a Hilton Honors Silver member and an owner with Hilton Grand Vacations and Diamond Resorts, and I expected Hilton to show compassion in such an unusual and heartbreaking circumstance. Instead, I was met with rigidity and insensitivity at a time of deep loss. I will never stay at this property again and will be sharing this experience so others are aware. read more

We were not able to travel to Bar Harbor due to a family emergency. The hotel was not willing to cancel our room or refund our Hilton Honors points even though we contacted them EIGHT (8) days in advance of our arrival. We travel all over the country and have never had a hotel be so inflexible and so insensitive. When booking here, make sure you stick to the 10 day cancelation policy because the unfriendly staff will not help you. read more

The public areas and my room were clean, and the front desk service was prompt, with no wait for check-in. My stay was quiet and comfortable, which was exactly what I was looking for. This is not your average Hampton Inn. Thank goodness they broke out of the mold of the standard Hampton building structure-- you will feel more like you're at a mountain lodge with a airy beach vibe lobby. Parking is easy. Island Express is a free shuttle to town so you can avoid the Bar Harbor parking challenge. Very clean. We didn't bring swimsuits but wish we would've. Super easy access to Hulls Cove, Eagle Lake, and Cadillac Road entrances to Acadia. And I saved the best for last...the breakfast is hands down outstanding. Fresh bakery-like pastries, fresh fruit cups, overnight oats and granola, waffles, eggs, bacon/sausage, etc. Loved the room fridge. The only down side was the pullout couch one of our party slept on was very uncomfortable...would help to add a thicker mattress pad or have a higher quality mattress. read more

Not the cleanest room ever, but certainly far from the dirtiest! The room was a decent "home-base" for us during our trip to bar Harbor. We didn't spend much time in the room. We had great weather, so spent as much time as possible outside enjoying it. The beds were comfortable and enabled us to have a good night's sleep. The location wasn't right in the thick of things, and the building could use a bit of a facelift, but it was good for what it is. Next time we'll try one of the cozy inns. read more

By far the best hotel we have stayed at during this entire 2 week road trip (and we stayed at a lot of hotels!). Everything is done right. The building itself is new and beautiful and it sits on top of a hill with a beautiful view of the harbor. The employees were super friendly when we arrived and provided us with a list of great restaurants and things to do in the area. Our room was spacious and beautiful. The bathroom was wonderful and the beds were super comfortable. This hotel had cookies all day long! It seemed to go even to the evening hours! And there was a variety of cookies made. We enjoyed both chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia nut. The free 24 hour coffee and tea service was also much appreciated. Even in the morning instead of having cookies they had freshly baked muffins! So perfect! The breakfast was wonderful. The room was spacious and had plenty of windows for a lot of natural sunlight. It was a nice way to wake up in the morning during breakfast. Speaking of which, this was the best complimentary breakfast we have had so far. For both mornings I enjoyed the make your own waffle station complete with whipped cream and frozen berries, some yogurt, and the rotating hot stations one morning served scrambled eggs and sausage then cheese omelettes and potatoes. I enjoyed it all. We will definitely be staying here if we are ever in the area and definitely using this particular chain when we are traveling elsewhere. read more

We had a vacation planned for the Bar Harbor area but had to cancel due to a family health emergency. The cancellation policy is 7 days and I called 5 days in advanced but they would not allow us to cancel. We had 3 other properties booked, kayak tours and boat tours which were sympathetic and allowed us to cancel. read more

The room and bathrooms were clean. The breakfast was good. I was impressed they had almond milk as an option because I am lactose intolerant. Very friendly staff! The inside pool was clean, but a bit cold. The jacuzzi was fine. I didn't swim outdoors so I cannot give an opinion. I usually work out at the hotel gym but I didn't get a chance. I did take a peak inside and I liked it! It was clean and the machines were high quality. Now for the negative. The beds were awful and hurt our back. I tried both beds thinking maybe it was one mattress. Nope. I don't know if they were too firm or too old, but I didn't sleep well either night. :( I would buy new mattresses. The pillows were fine, the mattress was terrible. I would recommend this hotel. Maine is absolutely lovely. read more

WARNING! If you don't read the fine print like I don't-Ocean view doesn't equal balcony!!! The pictures make this place look like every ocean front room has a balcony. It doesn't. Only 8 rooms have this. Also, I don't know what they were thinking when they designed this hotel but the rooms overlook a large parking lot and are not closer to the edge of the hill like many of the other hotels are. Maybe development restrictions? So, even the very expensive rooms with a balcony have a tiny balcony that overlooks the parking lot and then a distant ocean view. The outside pool is nice but there's no bathroom out there so you know most people are peeing in the pool. GROSS! We were told it was a great place for biking but if you have younger kids it's not. It's on a steep hill with no bike path. There is a shuttle that picks up regularly. No bar or dinner area. No place to get a cocktail. That really sucked after a long day of driving. Internet access is abismal. It kept logging me out and trying to get me to sign up for Hilton honors. I finally gave up during my 5 night stay and switched to LTE. Overall, the facilities are new and it was nice. It's just a lot of money for 'nice'. I won't be staying at a Hampton inn again or anything Hilton. read more

Beautiful hotel near downtown Bar Harbor- everything is clean and new from the lobby to the rooms and pool area. The staff are very friendly, the included breakfast has a great selection and the rooms are a decent size. Also, I think the coffee was the best hotel coffee I've ever had! Usually I refuse to drink it and locate a local coffee spot! I took one star off due to the price of the hotel being a good amount higher than the other options that are closer to downtown. The ocean view room is quite a bit more than other options, and unfortunately the last room available so it forced my hand. In my opinion, I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost as this hotel is not waterfront and the water is in the distance, and could even be cut off by the tree line on the lower floor levels. Also, altho the hotel could be walking distance to downtown, it's still a decent walk... the hotel is not on the bus route that goes from downtown to some of the hotels and tourist spots.. and parking is a nightmare in downtown! One additional recommendation would be, for the breakfast and at the coffee bar, if they instead had plastic-wrapped utensils versus having all of them sticking up to be touched by all, especially during the pandemic. read more

Wonderful service! We had gotten caught in the rain in Bar Harbor and stopped in the hotel early and they were able to accommodate an early check in. It was much appreciated. The pool/hot area was clean and well stocked with towels. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. The only downside to the breakfast was they ran out of 2% milk. My son was bummed and didn't want to try the skim or almond milk. We loved that we could see the hotel from Acadia and even spotted the hotel on our boat tour as well. read more

I would have given five stars but they offered to clean our room when we asked them to replace the towels and they did not do it. This is one of the cleanest hotels I have been in, in a very long time which was not a brand new facility. It was spotless. Granted it ought to be for 600 a night and 300 a night but it was. The hotel indoor pool was the cleanest pool I have ever been in for a hotel that was not new. The breakfast was normal faire but plenty of seating. They also had fresh fruit all day. I don't know where they get their pumpkin muffins but they are incredible. Staff was super nice. It is a bit away from the downtown area but it's super quiet here and easy to get to. Everyone settle down and relax because Hampton Inn just knocked it out of the park with this gem. Located on top of a hill gives this Inn a nice relaxing atmosphere. I've got to say this was probably the nicest Hampton Inn i've been to and the ambiance of the entire property is relaxing and balanced. They serve a delicious complimentary breakfast which is a nice bonus to the already well equipped Inn. Guests can enjoy a nice pool, hot tub, gym, and technology room. The rooms are spacious and gorgeous for all ages and the customer service here is superb. Right in the middle of Bar Harbor with easy access to the loop and downtown! This hotel is only open during the peak tourist season during summers. The hotel was very nice, clean, has great views, the staff was super helpful and eased the check-in process, they even had reserved parking spots for Diamond Members which I loved! The hotel lobby had great coffee and fresh fruit options. The breakfast buffet was simply amazing with lots of veggie options and plenty of seating space. We stayed there over the Memorial Day Weekend so it was a little bit busier but it didn't feel like it as the hotel is spread out across 4 floors. We stayed in 2 queen bed rooms which had all the amenities and an awesome shower-massager, the rooms were thoroughly cleaned as well which is the main reason I always stay at Hilton Hotels when I can as I trust them to do a great job to keep their properties clean! LIKES: (+) This is definitely the nicest Hampton Inn we've ever stayed at. Compared to most hotels in Bar Harbor, which have more of a vintage or classic vibe, this place is modern and polished. Our room was spacious and in excellent working order. (+) The staff are super helpful and friendly. They went the extra step, like inquiring about our itinerary for the day and making thoughtful suggestions on stuff like activities or restaurants to ensure we got the most out of our time there. (+) The hotel takes COVID seriously. Room service is available on an opt-in basis; otherwise, they'll provide sheets, towels, toiletries, or whatever else you need to DIY any time of day. When we needed anything, we always received it within minutes. They've redesigned 'flow' in the hotel, like the breakfast area or one-way stairwells, to limit face-to-face interaction among guests. And all the staff are great about wearing masks or face shields. (+) There's still included breakfast. While they're not doing hot buffet options, you can request most of their usual items at a counter and have staff prepare them for you. (+) We didn't get a room with a balcony and ocean view, but would've if we could do it again. The hotel is situated on a hilltop overlooking the ocean, and if it's not too much more of a splurge, it's a gorgeous sight that's well worth it. (+) The hotel is minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park, and at most about 15-20 min. to popular spots like Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, or Jordan Pond. We liked this a lot, as we could do national park stuff early before the crowds, then relax in the hottest hours of the day, then head back in the evening with ease. DISLIKES: (-) It's definitely one of the priciest 'middle-tier' hotels we've ever been to, but then again, most options near Acadia are. (-) One suggestion for the hotel would be to make more shaded outdoor seating available near the breakfast area. There are a few benches if you don't want to eat inside, but you have to choose between being in the direct sunlight, chancing indoor dining, or returning to your room and having to circle back for extra food. (-) A minor inconvenience of staying here is having to drive and find parking anytime you want to visit the main shops and restaurants hub of Bar Harbor. It's only a 5 min. drive and there's a main parking lot from which most shops and restaurants are an additional 5 to 10 min. walk, but it still adds an extra step that people staying by the 'main drag' don't have to deal with. read more

For a Hampton Inn, this property is top-notch. It's a newer property, and feels more like a local boutique inn than a traditional Hilton property. Even in the time of COVID-19, the property still focuses on the small details. From the cute signs with local wildlife reminding guests to socially distance (and learn about animals, too), to the complimentary breakfast staffed by friendly servers who gave personalized touring recommendations (and packed some extra to-go treats for the hikes), to the stuffed animal offered to our child on check-in, all of the little touches made this stay special. Best Hampton Inn we've ever stayed. And the blueberry coffee and views were worth waking up for every morning! read more

The staff is extremely friendly and they keep the coffee filled, freshly brewed, and stock the water, fruit, cookies constantly. Since having a baby, my travel planning has completely changed. Indoor pools are a requirement. This hotel has both indoor and outdoor. They even have a small section for kids with crayons and coloring sheets. The little things are big wins. You'll have to drive everywhere if you stay here. If you want to just walk out of your hotel into the downtown area with restaurants, look into a locally owned hotel, B&B, or cottage. However, it takes mere minutes to drive to the downtown area (finding parking there though is a different story). It is clean and convenient. The staff is superb! read more

While this is a seasonal hotel, it was very clean and well managed. This isn't the ritz but it's a vey new Hampton Inn. Centrally located the hotel is just mins from town and all the attractions. The front desk was very pleasant and willing to help. I found it odd they had not ATM at the hotel. The rooms were cleaned daily by housekeeping and being the picky snob that I am I couldn't find a thing out of place. Everything in town was booked and if we had the option I defiantly would have booked the suit with a balcony. The prices are reasonable for the area. read more

Very, very disappointed with this hotel and Expedia. After allowing a reservation to be made on Expedia by our 18 year old ( and then realizing this hotel won't accept a reservation from anyone under 21) the reservation was immediately cancelled and neither the hotel nor Expedia would refund the money. The reservation was made and cancelled 3 weeks out. The hotel blames Expedia, Expedia blames the hotel - no one returns phone calls. Will never use Expedia or this hotel chain again. read more

For a Hampton Inn, this is pricey, but for Bar Harbor, it's a fair price. We stayed for our 25th anniversary and the staff made a very special welcome package for us after we let them know the occasion. Very clean hotel with great service, spacious rooms, and good location. Better choice than the Holiday Inn by the looks of both. We did not choose a harbor view and didn't miss it a bit. We weren't in the room enough to consider the view at sunset or sunrise. Don't stay there for sunrise or sunset...head to Schoodic Point! read more

The hotel is new and you can walk to town though you do have to walk uphill on the way back. Rooms are nice and bathroom is sizeable. There are both indoor and outdoor pools though both are small and pool towels are more like oversized wash clothes. Strange that there is no where to hang your bathing suit to dry in your room though. We were here in summer and the place was teeming with kids which makes breakfast chaotic though the staff does a reasonable job keeping up with it. I appreciated the almond milk and the fresh fruit. Complimentary coffee and cookies are always available which is a nice touch. We also found that the staff seemed knowledgeable about the park and the hiking options. read more

Such a great hotel! It's probably the nicest Hampton Inn we've stayed in. It blends into the landscape beautifully. The outdoor pool is the perfect spot to relax by after a day of outdoor adventures. A few things that would make this perfect - 1. A shuttle into town; parking is tough in bar harbor! 2. A bike rack/storage at the hotel. We had bikes on our car and would have liked to have taken them off in order to make driving in bar harbor a tad easier 3. Outdoor seating for breakfast. The dining area was packed and there are only a few tables outside. And given the current covid pandemic, we were even more aware of how close people were. We ended up taking our food to our room and it was a day room service never came....so less than ideal. 4. Not sure why our room wasn't cleaned everyday, it didn't seem to be a pattern nor did they mention it when we checked in. We are aware many hotels are doing limited house keeping due to the pandemic, which we are completely fine with, even appreciate. However we would have liked to have known so that we could had asked for towels, etc when we were in the lobby, vs. realizing it once in our room. Overall, great hotel and we'd book it again for sure! read more

The breakfast was much more then expected, and the "robust" coffee was exactly what we needed before a day of hiking! The shuttle ran every 15 minutes from outside the hotel to downtown Bar Harbor! It was great to not have to drive and worry about parking! I used the gym twice, which had more options then most hotel gyms and was very clean. You feel very special when you enter through the doors of Hampton Inn at Bar Harbor. Both receptionists at the front desk welcome you with a warm smile and a table of refreshments and cooks await. There is a small section for little kids to hang out and color or watch movies, along with a clean pool. The WiFi here is easily accessible and the rooms are very clean.
