Huge variety in the breakfast buffet

We completed our stay in the area with one night at the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel. This is an adorable space with rocking chairs in the front, private free parking, snacks out during the day, and an ample and delicious continental breakfast. We called ahead and were told they would try to have our room ready if we would be early, but we ended up not needing it. We checked in with the nicest ladies, and our room was just around the corner from the front desk. The room was very spacey, and it was quiet, even though we were right by the door. The night staff was so very nice and welcoming when we returned from dinner. The gentleman was friendly and helpful. After a week of "glamping," this hotel was exactly what we needed. I slept like a rock and felt so refreshed. The breakfast had EVERYTHING! I wish I would have been more hungry because there was so much that I passed on. We checked out exactly at 11, and then realized we forgot a couple of items (twice, oops), so we were quickly assisted and could get right back in. Their little gift store has some items I had not seen elsewhere, so we grabbed some things up there. It was an absolutely wonderful experience!

This hotel is definitely worth the price. Location, location, location!!!! You park in their lot with a pass and can walk all over Bar Harbor without the hassle of parking. The check in experience was great, with friendly workers. Our room was ready and was extremely nice. There was lots of room and the bed was comfortable. We did struggle with getting the air conditioning right, as it's right above the bed and blows on you. The swimming pool was a nice treat and speaking of treats, they always sit out something in the afternoon. The front porch with the rocking chairs was super enjoyable for early morning and late evening. The breakfast is really nice with fresh fruits, pastries, etc. I would highly recommend staying here.

I was hesitant to book here because there weren't many reviews, however I'm so glad I did! We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were very clean and cozy. Beds are very comfortable. The continental breakfast every morning was much better than chain hotels and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the infused water available at all times and the little treats they put out for guests. The location was great. Plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance and only a short walk to the waterfront.

My cousin and I decided to last minute book this hotel for a night stay because we wanted to drive in from Portland to check out Acadia national park for a day - the best idea!! We arrived around 8pm to check in and the guy at the front desk was so nice and helpful in planning out our trip from catching the sunrise, figuring out where we should grab a late dinner, and things to check out the following the day. As soon as we got in the room, I was like wait I haven't been to a hotel this clean in a little while and everything about it had these charming little details throughout the room and property. The beds were so comfortable and we loved that there was free parking. It's in an amazing location where you can walk all over Bar Harbor and about 10-15 minute drive from Acadia. Also who doesn't love a free breakfast? They had a variety of options to choose from and it ended up being great to grab in between catching the sunrise and heading out for a few more trails before checking out. I'm definitely coming back here with family in the future.

Good memories from our stay at Bar Harbor Grand, so here's the gist of it: Ran my first marathon and was footsteps from the start line, an amazing location, private parking lot, gigantic complimentary breakfast, very comfortable beds, and a friendly staff. We were off to a rocky start when they didn't have the requested crib in the room, but it was all quickly remedied, and everything was smooth sailing from there. I loved how clean and nice everything was, but more than anything, the location was the best part for sure. Prices weren't too bad on a busy fall weekend either. The breakfast was nice with fruit, oatmeal out of a crock pot, danishes, good coffee, and even some eggs and other things you wouldn't necessarily expect. Would definitely recommend this spot in Bar Harbor, and you're very close to Acadia as well by car.

Nice touch that you don't see in chain hotels.

A hotel with character and it's located right on Main St. I mean, how cool is it that you get to stay in an older but clean hotel that's surrounded by restaurants and shops. The rooms look exactly like what's depicted on their website. I booked my room through Hotels.com and got a ridiculously affordable rate and it comes with breakfast! With that said, there are quite a few Inns and Bed and Breakfast around the area so you definitely have a lot to pick from. This just happened to draw my attention because of its look, price and location.

A nice hotel right in Bar Harbor. The room is very nicely sized and the hotel is both close to the center of town and provides parking. The staff at check in were cheerful and helpful. They provide a free breakfast in the lobby with eggs and sausage, cereal, fruit and pastries. Something for everyone. Not a gourmands delight but a good and convenient way to start the day.

Cute little inn style hotel. Darling desk ladies. And the most comfy beds and sheets. The toiletries are bath and body works, and cleaning staff was attentive. The breakfast room was a full house! Great blueberry muffin, eggs, bacon, etc. (Didn't like the coffee, but there are a couple great places across the street!

Bedroom. Sorry the picture is taken after my son rolled on the beds.

This is the best hotel I've stayed in since covid. When we arrived they gave my son a free stuffed animal soft deer, he loved it! The room is nice, spacious, as well as the bathroom. I love eucalyptus and they have all B&B works stress relief in the bathroom. They also include a small sanitizer for you. There were lightbulbs out in the bathroom and they came up and fixed them within five minutes. I needed toothpaste and they asked if I minded if they brought it up to the room to me! What service. We came back the second day and housekeeping had been in, I was not expecting this, as since covid I haven't seen housekeeping. It was a splendid surprise. They gave another sanitizer in the bathroom to take and they left a nice handwritten note on the hotel paper pad. The breakfast options are mostly to go items but a great array and so many options. Being gluten free, I was very happy to see a few gluten free options too! They also have coffee available 24/7.

What a beautiful way to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary!…read more The Bayview Hotel provided us with a room overlooking Frenchman Bay. We enjoyed sunrise views 3/4 mornings. (The 4th one was from Cadillac Summit.) Our room was spacious with one of the most comfortable comforters I've felt. We had a keurig machine, microwave, and mini fridge in our room. Appreciated the heater in the bathroom. Loved being greeted by the geese family on property in the morning and afternoon just outside our balcony. Our balcony had a couple of chairs with a table. We noticed the room beside us had a couch and bar stools in their balcony. While our balcony had cobwebs in every ceiling corner (lots of spiders on the railing), we were still able to enjoy the majestic sunrise views. They serve a continental breakfast every morning at 0700. Mid-day they serve charcuterie, cookies, fruits with refreshing infused water, tea&coffee. By far this was the most serene accommodation we've had. Calm and peaceful. They provide Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Friendly staff~ Brad at the front desk was kind in printing our Cadillac Sunrise pass for us & greeted us every time we passed the front desk. The hotel is less than 8 minutes from the Waterfront and about 10 min to Acadia National park depending on which entrance you use. All in all would return and recommend.

The breakfast was very good with many options to have before heading out for the day. All of the egg dishes were outstanding. They also have a shuttle service that you can take if you want to go out for dinner in town. This was our first time to Bar Harbor and Bayview but it won't be our last.

They were definitely not the quality that I usually get at a Hampton Inn. For some reason, the mattresses were marked with the word "summer" in black. I have no clue why. Possibly they put the bad mattresses out for high season. The other furniture in the room was outdated and the fabric was stiff and scratchy. It was not like any other Hampton Inn that I've ever been in. It felt like a two star hotel. They don't even have a microwaves in the rooms. The breakfast was adequate. They had lots of options, but when paying over $500 for a room, I kind of expected a little more when it came to the quality. The staff at the front desk changed my room but it didn't make a difference. I did not sleep good not one of the three nights. The pool area was well kept and the grounds were beautiful. I enjoyed sitting at the bench on the hill taking pictures. Only stay here for the view.

This location did not disappoint! I was able to check-in via the mobile app and select a room. The hotel space was very well-maintained. The room was also great with a large king bed a sofa-bed as we requested. The bathroom and water pressure were great. There were lots of outlets throughout the room as well as an iron, ironing board, alarm clock and refrigerator. The refrigerator was larger than most and had a separate freezer section. There was NO microwave in the room...which was a bit disappointing...especially when you are traveling with kids and frequently need to heat leftovers and other items. Instead, there are two microwaves available for guest use in the lobby. The TV was on the smaller side for a room of that size, but had a lot of channels. The free breakfast they offered was great...better than expected with a few hot options including omelets, sausages and home fries. They also have some other great options including yogurt, granola, fruit, cereal, waffle maker with lots of toppings and good variety of bagels, breads and pastries. There also had some cold juices and milk available for breakfast. There is coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for free all day in the lobby! The fitness center was bigger than expected. I used it twice and it was empty both times. Though we did not use the pools, all of them (indoor, outdoor and hot tub) all seemed well-maintained. Other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves while using them. There was a small "business" area with some work/counter surfaces, chairs and outlets. There was also a small play area with a table stocked with crayons and coloring pages, books, a small tent and a TV with cartoons on at all times! A great little area for the little ones to unwind for a few or just wait while the grown-ups check-in/out. There are a few shuttles available from the hotel that go into Acadia...but we drove and did not need that service. Although it isn't a bad idea...even for those with cars as parking at the popular areas during our early-afternoon ventures into Acadia were very challenging during our visit toward the end of August. Short drive to Acadia (5-10 minutes) entrances. Also, a shorter drive into downtown Bar Harbor (2-3 minutes) or a 10-15-minute walk if desired. Large and free parking lot. All staff we encountered were very nice, helpful and patient.

This hotel offers simple accommodations, free WiFi, parking on site, light complimentary breakfast, bikes, etc. But the emphasis is definitely on the downtown Bar Harbor location and how close this hotel is to many shops and other businesses. Enter from the main Mt. Desert St. entrance or from the back by the parking lot. These folks almost (key word- almost) thought of everything because signs are clearly labeled. For instance, if you park out back, signs will lead you to the Lobby, Elevator, etc. Lighting in our room was glowy even in the evening and bed was comfortable. Our getaway was peaceful, front desk ladies were all super pleasant, beds are done in crisp white sheets. And even if the cool weather didn't let out, we took advantage of our balcony facing Bar Harbor's Village Green. Our stay was affordable. But my major concerns where the slow (clogging) water flow in our bathroom sink, the odd yellow discoloration on the toilet cover lid (didn't bring up these 2 issues with management as we didn't want anyone in our room- so wrapped a towel over it), the bathroom curtain wasn't ironed and the ill-sounding HVAC system was annoying. Thank goodness we could regulate it ourselves. Affordable or not, expensive or not- issues like these can't and shouldn't happen anywhere. There are several pluses and minuses here- but I want to feel comfortable in my 'home' away from home in every sense of the word. But decided to cut our stay short. I know it takes a lot of moving pieces to maintain a hotel- but damn- wouldn't you want your hotel to run like a well-oiled machine so patrons are satisfied?

For example, the 2 weight rooms in the hotel and at the spa club house had basic equipment but the weights were insufficient for my husband. The only other amenities offered without an additional fee were tennis and the swimming pools but they were still closed because we were there in April, still the off-season. 3) The La Bella Vita restaurant food was mediocre and definitely not worth the inflated prices charged. Not to mention, our waiter didn't even know what a Chianti red wine was even though he was working at an Italian restaurant. 4) The outdated wall room heater and air conditioner was way too loud and we couldn't hear the TV without turning it up (I'm sure our neighbors could hear). The room was well appointed and ready an hour before the check in time. There's a snack station on each floor equipped with cold water bottles, a nice selection of coffees and teas, fruit, and Kind bars. Robes are provided in the rooms, and the room service is from the nearby restaurant Paddy's. Prior to bedtime, we filled out the breakfast room service ordering menu and placed it outside. The first day was great. Room service arrived right on time the next morning. We ate and headed out for the day. I noticed later at night that they didn't leave another room service ordering menu. Figured no big deal, we'll just go down for breakfast the next day. This is when we ran into a few issues - we went down to the restaurant for breakfast at 930 and were told by a staff member at Paddy's that they were backed up with room service orders and she recommended we go across the street for breakfast, or there would be quite a wait. Okay that's fine - we had plans for the day so we ate across the street. A bit frustrating because breakfast was included in our nightly rate. When we got back in the afternoon around 3pm, I noticed the room wasn't cleaned. On the way out for dinner, I spoke with the front desk about housekeeping, and also asked them to make sure we get a room service breakfast order menu as we didn't the day before. When we came back from dinner - only one of the two beds was made. The bathroom floor was not vacuumed, and we didn't have our breakfast order menus. Again, I reached out to the front desk, who sent someone up with the menus. I mentioned the housekeeping issue to the guy who brought the menus up - he clarified that we would like to make sure both beds are made and the bathroom is cleaned .....yes. Felt odd to have to clarify that as this is usually understood. Later that evening we wanted to order room service for dessert - it was difficult to get someone on the phone. Ended up going to the restaurant to get the dessert to-go. The next morning our breakfast did not arrive. I called to follow up - Nicole at the front desk checked with the restaurant and made sure our food would be delivered. Our food arrived, though an hour late and missing one entree. Not Nicole's fault; she was excellent with following up with us. There seems to be some staffing issues as the one person at the front desk is always alone with seemingly a ton of things to be responsible for.
