We booked a Deluxe King room for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend, and we could not have been happier with this place! The room was very spacious, with plenty of room for us to spread out and set up both of our laptops on a small table so we could research our daily activities and dining options in the area. The room was quiet and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast service they offer is amazing! You place your order online the night before and they bring it to your room in the morning at the time slot you designate (7:30, 8:00 or 8:30). We ordered too much food the first day, but ended up taking the scones and fruit into the park with us and eating those for lunch, which saved us $ in the long run. After that happy "accident", we continued placing essentially the same breakfast order every day so we didn't have to buy an expensive meal out at lunch. There is no one at an office there, but they are super responsive online. If we needed room supplies, we ordered them using an online form, and they were delivered in minutes to our door. They have a common area stocked with extra coffee supplies, bottled water, sodas, microwave popcorn and ice that you can access at any time, and chocolate chip cookies appeared there in the afternoons. The common area also had schedules for the free Acadia/Bar Harbor shuttles, and they highlighted in the schedule where to pick up the Eden shuttle closest to the property. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We will absolutely stay here again whenever we return to the area. read more

The Highbrook Motel went way beyond my expectations. The room was extremely clean and well kept up. The breakfast service delivered to your hotel room had a great selection and you could choose what time it was delivered. The food was excellent. You can request extra supplies like towels, tissues etc through the motels app and they are delivered to your room in the morning. There is a table and chairs on the porch outside each room so you can enjoy eating outside. The room is large and has a sink outside the bathroom and a sink inside the bathroom. The motel room also has a Keurig coffee machine and a refrigerator. There is a room in the middle of the motel rooms that has an ice machine, afternoon cookies, popcorn and a microwave and sodas and a Keurig coffee maker and pods that each motel room has access to 24 hours a day free of charge. The motel is centrally located and near all of Acadias attractions. We decided to stay an extra day and Adam was extremely accommodating and we were able to stay in the same room for the extra night. read more

I stayed in the summer of 2021 during COVID. I was so impressed by how clean the motel was. The cleanest room I've ever stayed in and I am very picky. Breakfast was served (included with a stay for free) outside your door by ordering electronically the evening before. The staff was helpful and communication was easy via email and text. I was looking for accommodations for a last minute trip to Bar Harbor. I was having no luck finding something for a reasonable price on the travel sites, and stumbled across this motel on Google. The motel is located off of route 3, with two buildings (that are separated by the woods). When we arrived, we checked in at the main office and were treated to homemade cookies (chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin), which were available in the lobby throughout the day. Our room was in the second building. I had selected the Mini-Suite with 1 King Bed. For $10 more a night, we had a room with a separate seating area, with two wing-back chairs. The room was large and clean, and the extra $10/ night was worth it! There was a tv on an extendable wall mount, however the volume was fairly low (there was a setting/lock on the volume that prevented us from turning it up louder). There was a sink outside of the bathroom, as well as one inside. The sink outside had a large counter, on which there was a Keurig. Underneath there was a small mini fridge, with a freezer compartment, that actually worked fairly well. The bathroom was nice but the decorations/wall coloring was outdated. The shower had great water pressure and was a combo bath/shower (not just a shower). There were plenty of clean towels. The highlight of the motel was the free breakfast. There were freshly made wet, cheese, and bacon English muffin sandwiches; steel cut oats oatmeal with toppings; homemade scones; bagels and bread; fruit; yogurt; hard boiled eggs; and cereal. Hot tea and coffee (made using a keurig) was available all day. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. It's less than a mile to downtown Bar Harbor, and an island explorer (bus #4) stop is located at the base of the driveway. Overall, we had a great stay and I highly recommend the motel. read more

I will add to the chorus of glowing reviews for the Highbrook Motel. I stayed for four nights in this quiet and spotless room up the hill from the main office. The room had everything I needed. It was spacious, with plenty of counter space; a fridge; a clean, comfy bed; and a small table where I ate their free, grab-and-go breakfast. The best part: a sparkling clean bathroom. Upon arrival, the hotel staff informed me of how to use the free shuttle around the island; one of the stops is conveniently located near the motel. In addition to the amenities, I appreciated the hotel staff's hospitality. They were kind and informative throughout my stay. I loved my stay and would definitely return in the future. read more

I had a great experience at the Highbrook. It was super affordable during tourist season and less than a mile walk to the downtown Bar Harbor area. I stayed during COVID, so I didn't have any face-to-face interaction with the staff, but the communication via email and text were super helpful. Easy check-in and check-out process and great breakfast choices were delivered to my room at a time that I selected the night before. I was even able to request extra blankets and sheets online and it was delivered along with my breakfast. The place was very clean and neatly kept. Highly recommended! read more

Quiet, extremely clean and very well managed. I don't normally review motels or hotels, but this place impressed us so much that we had to share some feedback. Rooms are very clean and do not possess that dirty or gross feeling that most hotels do. The staff is very helpful and can guide you to just about anywhere you want to go in the park and surrounding bar harbor area. The location is perfect! You can be in Acadia National Park or downtown bar harbor in about 3-4minutes. The beds are super comfortable and the air conditioning is ice cold. Best of all- their free breakfast is clutch. They had everything from bagels, yogurt, eggs, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, cereal(hot and cold) and some really solid coffee. Perfect fuel for our long day of hiking ahead! We recently stayed a total of 3 nights in this 12-unit motel that provides convenient access to both downtown Bar Harbor and the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia National Park. Per my request we again stayed in unit #12, an end unit with a king-size bed, mini refrigerator, desk with chair, flat screen TV, a pair of upholstered chairs and chest of drawers. Though the motel is older, it continues to be meticulously maintained. The owners' son provided us with a number of brochures and proved to be a fountain of local knowledge throughout our stay. A grab and go (to your room or deck chair) breakfast is available that included egg sandwiches, juice, yogurt, coffee/tea and muffins. We limited ourselves to orange juice and coffee for my wife, seeking breakfast fare elsewhere. This motel provides good value and I fully expect we will be returning on our next vacation to this area. read more

Great motel just 0.9 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. There is a separated paved multi use pathway just 300 yards from the front that you can take into town. Good for running, walking, or cycling into town safely. Staff are super pleasant when you run into them in the morning. The management has mastered the no contact approach with continental breakfast ordered online and delivered on-time to your door. Location is good to Acadia National park. You could cycle from the motel on your bike to the carriage roads. Rooms are priced appropriately and we will definitely stay again on our next trip. read more

A great hotel to stay at when visiting Bar Harbor. They are located just outside of the downtown section so it was an easy walk to anywhere you wanted to get to. In addition, L.L. Bean runs a bus service that runs right past the motel and goes anywhere around town and through Acadia national park. The rooms were spacious, clean, air conditioned, and had free wi-fi service. A free small Breakfast was provided in the main office (small bagels, oatmeal, coffee, etc.) Price per night was moderate - low for the area, especially in peak season. The motel is run by some of the nicest people in Maine. They helped arrange last minute tickets for a whale watch, and then offered to drive us to the dock to make sure we got there in time. We couldn't have asked for more and will be sure to stay there again if we're back in town. read more

Extremely disappointed to learn that this is 2-person-to-a-room with no exceptions - the Highbrook Motel is prohibitive to families, no matter how young the child. The representative on the phone told me I was welcome to book a second room for the kid - who is one year old! Not great for family vacations and while I don't know if the Highbrook Motel is hurting for business, you've certainly received a disappointed review from a would-be customer. I would recommend updating your rules or making this "adults only" but you gain very little by having outdated "fine print" policies that turn away families. It's worth mentioning that this is not noted when booking on priceline or expedia, so if this policy is a hill worth dying on please ensure that it's reflected more clearly on your website before someone's vacation is ruined. read more

If you are a relaxed natured adult with no pets in tow, looking for a clean quiet place, look no further. I can back everyone else up on the cleanliness and friendliness of this place. For an older place, it was very nicely kept up. The paint was fresh and it was pretty clear that the owners take great pride in the smallest details when it comes to your comfort and positive experience. There are two buildings. A front and a rear (that you must drive to). Since we were in the rear building and the breakfast was in the front building, we never checked it out. The way they presented it was just a small selection. I got the feeling that it was a good idea for anyone who takes early a.m. medications and needs a little something to eat with them. It didn't seem like anything substantial to start a day of hiking/outdoorsy activities with. Each unit has an assigned parking spot and a couple of chairs outside on the porch. There was a small mini fridge in the room but no microwave. They are VERY clear about not wanting you to cook in your room. They are equally clear about no smoking and no pets. Since there is also no pool- I think this is part of how they keep the place so nice and probably a contributing factor as to why I saw zero children running around here. The bed (king size) was very comfortable. The shower worked well and was nice and clean. The towels were pretty soft, for hotel towels. The wifi worked ok. It didn't require a password, so that was nice and easy. read more

It feels like I stepped into a movie set depicting the 1970's. very out dated. we upgraded to a sweet and sadly I didn't understand what that went towards. This was the perfect place for our trip to Bar Harbor. It was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in and was so cozy. The staff was very helpful when we checked in and throughout our stay. It was a short walk into town and it was so easy to access the Carriage Trails and the rest of Acadia. We are NJ natives, and in the midst of our travels, wound up getting a flat tire on I-95 in Millinocket. Thankfully, Highbrook Motel had the availability to accommodate us and allowed us to have our vehicle towed to their parking lot after hours. Adam, the manager, was eager to provide assistance upon arrival even though the lobby was closed for the evening and not once did he treat us as if we were an inconvenience. The motel room was spotless, cozy, and the complimentary breakfast provided in the lobby was convenient and fulfilling! Management here is excellent, and each staff member made us feel welcomed and like family. Adam provided us with a variety of activities to do in Bar Harbor that did not require a vehicle, and when we needed to pick up our vehicle at the tire center over 30 mins away, Lisa was so kind to DRIVE US to downtown bar harbor and advise us exactly where to board a bus that ultimately brought us to the destination. Thank you so much Highbrook Motel & staff - you saved our trip and we owe it all to you! We will be returning for sure... just next time with a spare. read more

Convenient and comfortable! We had plenty of room to spread out and I was impressed with how thorough housekeeping was - very clean! One thing that made it especially nice was the complimentary breakfast and snacks available the whole day in the lobby. Among other things, they had warm breakfast sandwiches, muffins, bagels, steel cut oatmeal, and egg salad. They had bags and containers available for you to grab and go. Like others have mentioned, the decor isn't totally up-to-date but who really cares about that? It's clean, friendly, walkable to downtown, comfortable, spacious... overall a good value and we were happy. read more

My husband, and I, just returned from some wonderful time spent on Mount Desert Island after our wedding. We read reviews on Yelp for Highbrook, and checked in while we were there. Our room was huge! We were in the upper section of the motel. Our room had a sitting area, and changing room off the main bedroom area. The linens were very nice, with comfy beds. I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting the Bar Harbor area! read more

The cleanest and best kept motel we have ever visited. You feel loved the moment you arrive. The staff emailed us before we left on our trip with directions and check/in information. The room and bathroom are more spacious than our room at home. They serve a wonderful grab and go breakfast- choice of bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, egg sandwiches, and steel cut oats. All are warm and fresh. We ate out on our porch in the sunshine. The office staff was extremely knowledgeable about the hikes in Acadia and helped us navigate the easiest way to access the trails. Also, the housekeeping lady, Vereta, cleaned our room as if a new guest was staying in the room everyday. It was so nice to stay in a place where people treat their guests like family and take pride in their work and their place of employment. read more

The only reason I am giving it one star is because it was definitely very clean, but other than that, it was totally not what I would have expected after reading other reviews. Not only that, but the pictures I viewed before booking my stay there were very misleading. When I arrived, I found that everything was completely outdated and the decor was straight out of the 70's. In addition to that, the room had a strong scent of mint mixed with something that smelled really old. I also upgraded to a "suite" for about $30 more, but it was not very clear what exactly that went towards. For the amount of money spent, I would have definitely expected something more up to date. We stayed for 5 nights & were very happy with our stay. The room was very spacious & clean. I really appreciated all of the Covid precautions: Online check in & out, breakfast ordered on phone & delivered to our door every morning, & any needed supplies delivered to door as soon as requested. The bed was very comfortable. The furniture is dated but clean. There is coffee maker & refrigerator but no microwave. There are 2 sinks which was nice. The breakfast options were very generous & the food was good. There is parking for 1 car. They do have a list of rules, but I agreed with all of them so that wasn't a problem. They have Roku in addition to regular TV, which was nice. Good water pressure in shower. Very good communication via email or text throughout entire stay. The location was great, walking distance to Bar Harbor shopping & short drive to Acadia National Park. Definitely recommend staying there. read more

My wife and I came to Acadia to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. Our first two nights we stayed at Mount Desert Campground, absolutely the most beautiful campground, but with a 100% chance rain, we opted for a bed on the last night of our vacation. Most things directly in town were booked, so we looked right outside of Bar Harbor. Less than 1 mile away, we found Highbrook Motel...spacious room with king size bed and affordable! Kind of retro, but in a good way. The staff left a bag of chocolates, a bottle of champaign, and a little note congratulating my wife and I on our marriage.
