View of Bar Harbor from our Suite.

We are here for two nights exploring the Park and Maine coast. We are in the Willows Mansion, room 831. The Willows is a separate, large, period style old mansion apparently from the gilded age, with a handful of rooms and suites. President Taft stayed here back in the day. Ours is the only suite on the third floor which is the top floor. Views of the harbor are fabulous. The place has an ideal location. There is plenty of room in our suite, and two bathrooms. There is a good sized outdoor patio off the sitting room. Very private. Tall folk be mindful of the low bridge as you go up the last steps from the hallway to the room I bumped my head a few times. Meals are in the main hotel building about 20 steps from the Willows. There is no room service but you can order and pick up. The heat was not working and maintenance was called 3 times. They came promptly and a very accommodating fellow seemed to finally figure it out and got it to work. The outside temps were abnormally low the first night, in the 40s - it was late June. The heat actually worked during the second day. We did not call our friendly maintenance man again. The temps rose into the 60's on our second day and the room was comfortable thereafter I had a meal in the Bistro Bar in the main hotel building. It is a pocket sized bar with about ten small tables I ate at the bar. Fish and chips were fine and the service was fine. I took a bowl of lobster stew back to the room for my wife. She liked it. We slept well both nights. Furnishings are a bit time-worn but comfortable. Breakfast is available in the main hotel. Prepared breakfast sandwiches and pastries are on offer. It is a help yourself set up. Nothing special. Coffee is available 24/7 in the lobby. The property itself is beautiful and, but for the heating issues, we liked where we were in the Willows. The views from our room can't be beat as we saw a gorgeous sunset the second night. We enjoyed the patio facing Frenchman Bay on our last morning. The town center of Bar Harbor is a 25 minute walk down Eden Street, (Route 3), from the property. I did a walk into town for a meal it was a pleasant 30 minute walk. We say ambiance "a", service "c", food "c", value "c" While we were pleased with our two night stay and we would stay here again in #831, we will likely try a different place when back in Bar Harbor. A real treat to stay here and got a room with a view. The stay came with complimentary breakfast, in a dining area that felt better than a bed and breakfast. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Walking to the balcony and back into the room really sets in stone the fact that you're on vacation. Excursion to the open water is just a short walk away. We can see a beautifully decorated outdoor gazebo from our balcony, I bet people have beautiful weddings here. During our stay the on site restaurants were closed, so we had to walk across the street to have dinner. Which was fine but if the on site restaurants had been open, I'd probably would give 5 stars.

I've been told that I'm a bit of a knit picker when it comes to hotels. I'm big on cleanliness and good service. That's why it's a big deal for me to say that this has been THE BEST hotel stay I've had in a long time. Everything was exceptional. There isn't one thing that I can think of that could have been better or improved. Check in was seamless and the staff member checking me in was so kind. She explained everything that the grounds had to offer and made local recommendations. The room was lovely! I was so happy to walk in and throw open the balcony door to enjoy the Frenchman Bay view. The patio furniture was a perfect place for me to enjoy the sunset. Everything was clean and well stocked and the bed was really comfy. The on-site breakfast offerings were also excellent. Due to covid, the dine in area was closed but their contingency plan was great. Menus are provided the evening before and you can check off which items you'd like and when in the morning you'd like it to be available. They'll have it ready for pickup! I was thrilled to enjoy breakfast on the room balcony anyhow. Everything else was just as perfect as the aforementioned. The on-site restaurant is great and the gift shop has cute knickknacks as well. I am actually loath to leave this place and wish I didn't have to! I could stay a month and it still wouldn't be enough. The hotel is a peaceful gem tucked away from the bustling downtown area but still a hop skip and a jump away! Five minute drive to downtown and Acadia National Park. What more could you need or ask for?!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! A friend and I came late November and enjoy the quiet of the off season. Check in was a breeze, we stayed in the main building and had a room with a beautiful view. The room was clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The main selling point for me was the continental breakfast that was, to my surprise, made to order and came w a menu. Best breakfast I had while in town, I highly recommend the French toast w local blueberry syrup. I have already contacted family to plan a return trip in the springs.

Lovely resort. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. Morning breakfast was included and you can sit outside watching the water. There are some family planned activities too. We chose a water view room and watched the sunrise from our room. The shuttle stops here which was great to get us into town.

We had a 3 night vacation stay here on our road trip. Everything was nice. The hotel room was clean and comfortable, large walk-in shower, granite sink, mini fridge, microwave, single serve coffee maker, flat screen, sitting area on the balcony overlooking the bay. It looks like each floor is equipped with an ice machine and there are washer and dryers available to rent. There is also a free breakfast, restaurant, heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, and outdoor pool, and a small playground(swing set) out front. There is a little picnic area by the water where my kids combed through some of the rocks and found a few pieces of sea glass. It's located in a convenient spot close to restaurants downtown and not far from the National Park. I do recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

This place is absolutely beautiful. Great location, clean, friendly staff, beautiful views. When we checked out we got two or three minutes down the road and they called that I had left my bracelet in the room. Cleopatra found it and had them call us right away. Great customer service.

Second time staying here in the top floor rooms overlooking the bay from the main building. The view from this hotel can't be beat! The rooms are cozy and well equipped, staff super friendly and helpful, and the bistro is surprisingly good! Only downside is the walls are pretty thin, so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

My bf and I stayed here this past weekend and thought this hotel was amazing! The balcony view is absolutely beautiful, service was great, and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding! The staff working breakfast were all so friendly and one lady in particular was so sweet and really loved her job. The food was delicious and we always looked forward to the breakfast to start off our hike at Acadia. Prior to our stay, we thought the location would be a hassle because it's not really walking distance to all the good/popular restaurants, but it was not bad whatsoever! 3-5min drive and since we visited during off season, parking was extremely easy. We sat by the bar at Bistro one night and the bartender was so friendly. Did not try any of the food, but it all smelled amazing. Cannot wait to come back!

View from my room, not bad!

The staff can make for such a great experience - from the after hours front staff, house keeping to the bartenders - all were amazing. The room was very clean and up to date. The view of the bay from the room was top notch. Bathroom was immaculately clean. Plenty of parking. Due to Covid breakfast was take out only, this wasn't a bother and expected in these times. The hotel restaurant is just 'meh' . Food and selections are mediocre but the staff is very nice. They should pipe in some music or turn on the TV at least - too quiet - not very inviting. No worries - I didn't stay here because of the restaurant.

(The 4th one was from Cadillac Summit.) Our room was spacious with one of the most comfortable comforters I've felt. We had a keurig machine, microwave, and mini fridge in our room. Appreciated the heater in the bathroom. Loved being greeted by the geese family on property in the morning and afternoon just outside our balcony. Our balcony had a couple of chairs with a table. We noticed the room beside us had a couch and bar stools in their balcony. While our balcony had cobwebs in every ceiling corner (lots of spiders on the railing), we were still able to enjoy the majestic sunrise views. They serve a continental breakfast every morning at 0700. Mid-day they serve charcuterie, cookies, fruits with refreshing infused water, tea&coffee. By far this was the most serene accommodation we've had. Calm and peaceful. They provide Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Friendly staff~ Brad at the front desk was kind in printing our Cadillac Sunrise pass for us & greeted us every time we passed the front desk. It was not like any other Hampton Inn that I've ever been in. It felt like a two star hotel. They don't even have a microwaves in the rooms. The breakfast was adequate. They had lots of options, but when paying over $500 for a room, I kind of expected a little more when it came to the quality. The staff at the front desk changed my room but it didn't make a difference. I did not sleep good not one of the three nights. The pool area was well kept and the grounds were beautiful. This location did not disappoint! I was able to check-in via the mobile app and select a room. The hotel space was very well-maintained. The room was also great with a large king bed a sofa-bed as we requested. The bathroom and water pressure were great. There were lots of outlets throughout the room as well as an iron, ironing board, alarm clock and refrigerator. The refrigerator was larger than most and had a separate freezer section. There was NO microwave in the room...which was a bit disappointing...especially when you are traveling with kids and frequently need to heat leftovers and other items. Instead, there are two microwaves available for guest use in the lobby. The TV was on the smaller side for a room of that size, but had a lot of channels. The free breakfast they offered was great...better than expected with a few hot options including omelets, sausages and home fries. They also have some other great options including yogurt, granola, fruit, cereal, waffle maker with lots of toppings and good variety of bagels, breads and pastries. There also had some cold juices and milk available for breakfast. There is coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for free all day in the lobby! The fitness center was bigger than expected. I used it twice and it was empty both times. Though we did not use the pools, all of them (indoor, outdoor and hot tub) all seemed well-maintained. Other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves while using them. There was a small "business" area with some work/counter surfaces, chairs and outlets. There was also a small play area with a table stocked with crayons and coloring pages, books, a small tent and a TV with cartoons on at all times! A great little area for the little ones to unwind for a few or just wait while the grown-ups check-in/out. There are a few shuttles available from the hotel that go into Acadia...but we drove and did not need that service. Although it isn't a bad idea...even for those with cars as parking at the popular areas during our early-afternoon ventures into Acadia were very challenging during our visit toward the end of August. Short drive to Acadia (5-10 minutes) entrances. Also, a shorter drive into downtown Bar Harbor (2-3 minutes) or a 10-15-minute walk if desired. Large and free parking lot. All staff we encountered were very nice, helpful and patient.

This hotel offers simple accommodations, free WiFi, parking on site, light complimentary breakfast, bikes, etc. But the emphasis is definitely on the downtown Bar Harbor location and how close this hotel is to many shops and other businesses. Enter from the main Mt. Desert St. entrance or from the back by the parking lot. These folks almost (key word- almost) thought of everything because signs are clearly labeled. For instance, if you park out back, signs will lead you to the Lobby, Elevator, etc. Lighting in our room was glowy even in the evening and bed was comfortable. Our getaway was peaceful, front desk ladies were all super pleasant, beds are done in crisp white sheets. And even if the cool weather didn't let out, we took advantage of our balcony facing Bar Harbor's Village Green. Our stay was affordable. But my major concerns where the slow (clogging) water flow in our bathroom sink, the odd yellow discoloration on the toilet cover lid (didn't bring up these 2 issues with management as we didn't want anyone in our room- so wrapped a towel over it), the bathroom curtain wasn't ironed and the ill-sounding HVAC system was annoying. Thank goodness we could regulate it ourselves. Affordable or not, expensive or not- issues like these can't and shouldn't happen anywhere. There are several pluses and minuses here- but I want to feel comfortable in my 'home' away from home in every sense of the word. But decided to cut our stay short. I know it takes a lot of moving pieces to maintain a hotel- but damn- wouldn't you want your hotel to run like a well-oiled machine so patrons are satisfied?

The only other amenities offered without an additional fee were tennis and the swimming pools but they were still closed because we were there in April, still the off-season. 3) The La Bella Vita restaurant food was mediocre and definitely not worth the inflated prices charged. Not to mention, our waiter didn't even know what a Chianti red wine was even though he was working at an Italian restaurant. 4) The outdated wall room heater and air conditioner was way too loud and we couldn't hear the TV without turning it up (I'm sure our neighbors could hear). The first day was great. Room service arrived right on time the next morning. We ate and headed out for the day. I noticed later at night that they didn't leave another room service ordering menu. Figured no big deal, we'll just go down for breakfast the next day. This is when we ran into a few issues - we went down to the restaurant for breakfast at 930 and were told by a staff member at Paddy's that they were backed up with room service orders and she recommended we go across the street for breakfast, or there would be quite a wait. Okay that's fine - we had plans for the day so we ate across the street. A bit frustrating because breakfast was included in our nightly rate. When we got back in the afternoon around 3pm, I noticed the room wasn't cleaned. On the way out for dinner, I spoke with the front desk about housekeeping, and also asked them to make sure we get a room service breakfast order menu as we didn't the day before. When we came back from dinner - only one of the two beds was made. The bathroom floor was not vacuumed, and we didn't have our breakfast order menus. Again, I reached out to the front desk, who sent someone up with the menus. I mentioned the housekeeping issue to the guy who brought the menus up - he clarified that we would like to make sure both beds are made and the bathroom is cleaned .....yes. Felt odd to have to clarify that as this is usually understood. Later that evening we wanted to order room service for dessert - it was difficult to get someone on the phone. Ended up going to the restaurant to get the dessert to-go. The next morning our breakfast did not arrive. I called to follow up - Nicole at the front desk checked with the restaurant and made sure our food would be delivered. Our food arrived, though an hour late and missing one entree. Not Nicole's fault; she was excellent with following up with us. There seems to be some staffing issues as the one person at the front desk is always alone with seemingly a ton of things to be responsible for. I wanted to love this hotel, but the small things do add up. I ended up rather disappointed with my stay.

There is a gravel lot for parking, which is convenient since most restaurants and experiences can be walked to in town, helping you avoid the fight for parking. We stayed in the Charter Suite - I only wish it had been cold enough for us to use the working fireplace. That would have added extra charm! Kristi met us as we checked in and provided a warm welcome, even a warm send off by providing us muffins to go for our early flight. My fiancée and I greatly enjoyed our stay and are hopeful to one day return to Bar Harbor and Saltair Inn.

We stayed on the 3rd floor in the Beehive Suite. It was a bit of a trek going up and down as many times as we did, especially with heavy luggage, but we loved the room and the view!!!! And we never heard a single other guest during our stay. They have a great HVAC system that keeps the third floor very cool. And the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a parking space for a car for every room. When we arrived, we got a thorough welcoming from Matt. He showed us on a map some suggestions of where to eat. The inn is an easy walk from the town and about a five minute drive from the entrance to Acadia National Park. We didn't partake in breakfast, but saw many others enjoying it. They have a beautiful deck with plenty of seating, and Adirondack chairs in the yard to enjoy the stars. They keep the lights and music on all night, so no matter when you arrive home, you feel comfortable and safe. The only thing that we missed was access to ice. There is a tiny machine in the breakfast room, but that only makes enough ice for about 3 drinks for the whole place. We had to buy ice at the Circle K every day and keep it in our cooler in the room for our water bottles and cocktails. If you ever travel to Bar Harbor, this is the place to stay!!! Best view ever!!!
