I love everything about bar dojo. My husband I love coming here for date night, a quick drink and bite between running errands, or to celebrate something fun. The food is always delicious and we like how they change up the menu. My husband tried their sampler platter and we were shocked at the quantity plus quality. The service is great and always reliable. Dessert is delicious too. Everything is A+! read more

Great food at happy hour! The dumplings and green beans were awesome! I didn't realize it was in a strip mall but that's okay - the food will bring me back! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! What a cool, varied menu with so many vegetarian options - and they're not your "typical" veggie options either. The cocktail and mocktail menus were so intriguing. All food was delicious. The crispy tofu could have been a little crispier (same with the fries) but it was still flavorful. Servers were attentive, though at times perhaps too attentive. This feels like a hidden gem - an amazing dining experience tucked away in an unassuming strip mall. read more

OK, a friend mentioned this place to me so I checked it out on YELP and then immediately made a reservation. The outside is not much to look at but the inside is upscale/casual. The ambiance is spot on. Wifey ordered an "Empress" cocktail and I had their "Dragon Claw" which was a little bit like a spicy Paloma. Both were very good. Junior was with us and we ordered "family style to share everything because there were too many delicious looking choices to just get one item. We ordered the Spicy Pork Noodles, Ahi Poke Tacos, crab fried rice and the Coconut Honey Walnut Prawns. WOW!! The noodles were some of the best I've ever had. The dish was SOOO flavorful and fresh tasting that I wanted more right away! ITS A MUST HAVE! The Ahi Poke tacos were super fresh and light (you get 5). The Coconut Honey Walnut Prawns were delicious. They had a very light crispy coating which really let the fresh seafood flavor shine...highly recommended! The crab fried rice was good but was not as outstanding as the other dishes. It's a fairly small seating area so I would suggest you make reservations (we got ours for the same day). There is also a nice bar top to sit at if you don't want a table. read more

As a small business owner, I don't typically leave negative reviews, so the star rating is irrelevant. I rarely write reviews at all, but I feel compelled because of my consistently negative experiences with the staff here. On multiple occasions, I've tried my luck at being seated without a reservation, and each time--no exaggeration--the person at the host stand is not warm, not hospitable, and in fact the opposite. Almost aggressive that I should deign to enter without a reservation! If you're lucky enough to be seated without one--unscathed by the psychic damage inflicted by the disgruntled host or hostess--the food truly is fantastic. Your server may still be impatient with your questions or your attempts at casual joking. Great food at a reasonable price, but the staff's attitude is consistently sour. They act like they're all miserably overworked or something. What is going on, Bar Dojo? read more

I've been here before for dinner and most recently for brunch. Service is consistently timely, kind, and thoughtful and while the location on the outside seems pretty unassuming, the interior is comfortable for casual dining and even casual celebratory occasions (I had a nice family dinner here for my birthday once!). The presentation of food and drinks is beautifully done and the food I've tried is good! I personally enjoy the brunch menu more than the dinner menu, but that could certainly be up to my personal taste and I wasn't disappointed by the dinner menu by any means. I loved the sweet and savory brunch options though (my friend and I cleared our plates with the exception of a small amount leftover that I finished later that day because I wanted to leave room for dessert!), and I look forward to more brunches here. read more

A friend and I have been wanting to try Bar Dojo for a while and we were especially excited when we heard they had a brunch menu! I was dying to try the ube french toast with horchata whipped cream. It was delicious! I also ordered the pulled pork scramble with green chile. It was very flavorful and filling! The drip coffee was meh, for $5, I would've just gotten one outside by the drive through coffee shop. The service was prompt and friendly, however, we felt it was very pushy and rushing us although the restaurant was not busy and didn't look like there was a wait. We got offered boxes twice and we had not even finished our plate. Kept asking if we were ready for the check even though we wanted to order take out. read more

Make a reservation to get table seating. We came in last minute because we saw great reviews on yelp and the fun looking cocktails. We were able to be seated immediately at the bar. We ordered drinks and some food. The food was underwhelming. For the price we did expect a little more in flavor. The Dumplings were soft and the noodles had a little spice, but did not have much of a wow factor for the price for us. The Dragon Claw drink had a good spice to it. It was a busy place and the staff were keeping busy. Not the most ergonomic set up with the bar/ dishwasher which could see caused a couple bottlenecks. The staff worked well together in working in the small space. read more

Met a friend for dinner here and was able to get seated right away. The space is small, so there's not a lot of room on the table for more than a couple dishes, but we made it work. We shared the Korean Chicken Wings, which were pretty tasty, and I also had the Kalua Pork Rice Bowl, also good. The staff were kind but sometimes felt that they were tolerating guests rather than being welcoming or personable with them. I also noted that our glasses were cloudy, and my friend's glass already had a lip print on it before she even arrived - kind of concerning considering the glasses are pre-poured before being seated at the table. Definitely not a fan of that. read more

This small restaurant is a great Asian fusion spot in Edmonds. I've been here 3x now and have been pleasantly surprised by their dishes and cocktails. The place has a great selection of Asian inspired foods along with a list of specials served weekly (or monthly?). I highly recommend booking a reservation a few days in advance as they're always full both weekdays and weekends. I've managed to snag a spot at their bar without a reservation the last 2x I've gone during dinner hour. The soup dumplings, Brussels sprouts, yakisoba add katsu chicken, and homemade mac salad are some of favorites. I've also tried their beef rice bowl and tacos (on the speciality menu) which have been tasty as well. I haven't made it to happy hour yet, but it's on the list! Give this place a try next time you're craving Asian food. read more

Apps and drinks were great! The wings baos were my personal favorite but everything was good!

We arrived without a reservation. I had no clue a reservation was even needed. I'd driven past this place that's in a strip mall thinking it's just a neighborhood spot, why would I need a reservation? The front door is basically in the parking lot. You make a reservation for a place you're actually looking forward to and I assure you, having eaten there now, I would not return much less make a reservation. The hostess was nice enough to offer us the bar which was fine. We don't mind sitting at a bar except that when you're at the bar, you're facing a back room bathroom door and you can smell the trash from the bus bin. I got the bulgogi mushroom tacos. The menu describes these has having a ton of different ingredients that sound interesting but the reality is they taste of just one thing - bulgogi sauce. That's it. One note flavor for $20. I got a side of crispy tofu which turns out are not crispy at all. My partner got a udon curry and he said it was "fine". Not a rave review. Definitely won't be returning. read more

The food is modern consumer fusion indeed. Cheap in taste and unimpressive overall. The fries were the best part. The "crab" sandwich lacked much of the main ingredient. The burger patty was cooked all the way thru and thus dry. The non alcoholic lychee mocktail was tasty but sweet. The beer was beer. The service was decent. Ambiance felt forced, shallow and dull. Might I suggest some plants perhaps bamboo on the bar partition wall, single calla lily at the tables, some wall art/mirrors and some enjoyable music would be a place to start. read more

Lights. Out. Every. Time. That is a quote from my husband. We love this place and can't stay away! Service is always kind and attentive. Drinks are cold and food is DYNAMITE. it's been a while for me. it was a very satisfying dinner at Bar Dojo. the last visit was a satisfactory pre-covid happy hour visit, and a fabulously delicious and expensive Blended (Mushroom) Burger Project by James Beard in 2017. 3 of us met for dinner at 6 p.m. the restaurant was already near capacity with 2 open tables. our "reserved" table was occupied and we were not seated until 6:15. service: excellent. except for the reservation wait time, seating, greeting, delivery of water, orders for drinks, ordering the meals, dessert ordering, table clearing and check presentations were well-paced. when one of our party left the table before drinks were ordered. our server appeared immediately to take our dinner companion's drink order when he returned. ambience: Loud. felt crowded, especially at the door and the host station. surprisingly, plenty of room between tables to navigate to the restroom. gochujang artichoke wings: delicious. artichoke hearts cut to resemble chicken wing flats, breaded and fried, with an assertive spicy gochujang glaze tempered by eating the jicama cubes. the glase might be too spicy for some. $17 oysters aquachile: the aquachile was declared "very good" by our fellow diner from Mexico. un-named Taylor Shellfish Farms oysters $5 ea. pan seared scallops: 4 very large beautifully seared scallops. spicy gochujang sauce. $45 umami dojo burger: i had hoped this would be a reincarnation of the Blended Burger Project burger. i was not disappointed. the menu description seemed a bit busy, but the kobe beef flavor shined. the burger was not stacked so high that the bun held up and did not disintegrate under the weight of the burger ingredients. a definite win. i guess this is a burger i would split with a friend simply because of the price. $26 shoe string fries: perfect! noodle soups/ramen: still gun-shy from previous visits. maybe i will try them another time. passion fruit cheesecake: tangy and firm. gorgeous spun sugar presentation. $11. drinks: 22 oz Sapporo can $14. Reubens hazy pale can $8 spirit-free Ube horchata $6 the food presentation has always been gorgeous. the food is now well- seasoned and consistent, although the gochujang seasonings might be a bit heavy-handed. the desserts have always been so beautiful and tasty, they warrant a late visit just for dessert and coffee or some bubbly. i wish they would open for lunch again. i'll save up my pennies for another visit there. read more

Yes for yummy vegan options! I do wish there were more cocktail varieties but the non alcoholic options were really good. Highly suggest the rose blossom for a drink that's light and refreshing. Service was super fast and staff was awesome. Went right at opening. One server was working the room and was on point. Make sure you clarify you want the vegan option even if it's in the plant based menu. The artichoke wings are super tasty with the right amount of spice. I personally wasn't a fan of the tofu poke tacos. Though the flavor was amazing the texture just wasn't for me. It's a casual-ish dining room. read more

Delicious asian fusion food in an intimate neighborhood bar-ish setting. The food here was delicious but definitely came at a cost $$$. We ordered a sampler platter that had a little of everything off their starter menu and while everything on here was delicious and aesthetically pleasing, it did come at a price of over $100. Entree portions were large and the Honey Adobo Rockfish I ordered was soft and moist on the inside and incredibly crunchy on the outside. Definitely a fun take on the more traditional sweet and sour cod you typically find in Chinese restaurants. Overall a great find in Edmonds but can't say I'd be coming here often because of the price. Great for a special occasional though. read more

I saw this place on social and have had it on my list for a while and decided it was finally time. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday as a family (kids and adults). Admittedly pulling up I was a little sketched out. It's in a little strip mall that is old and doesn't look like anything special. I was glad I didn't let this deter me because the food knocked our socks off! The menu had so many delicious things on it, it was hard to decide! I was glad there was a good kids menu, and the Dojo board called out to us because it gave us the opportunity to try a little bit of everything. For a family of 5 (3 adults 2 kids) we ordered the Dojo Board, a Kalua pork bowl and a kids salmon teriyaki and it was plenty. Some of our favorites were the poke tacos, avocado rice, bulgogi ribeye, and spam Mac salad. All the meats were super tender and the presentation of both the Kalua pork bowl and dojo board were nicely executed. Despite the massive amount of food we ate, there is more I still want to try! The crab and poke bowl and pork belly nachos are on my list for next time. We picked the ube coconut flan for birthday dessert. Hats off to whoever came up with that recipe, it was delicious! In all, we thought the food was amazing, and a well executed concept of Asian fusion/comfort food. read more

There's an unremarkable entrance from an isolated strip mall and then you find yourself embraced by warm service and presented with wonderful food. I came here three times. Each time was exceptional food. Ah, service was alright. Seemed that the service was not of the caliber of the kitchen. The first time , I came for brunch. I had the Pork Xiao Long Bao to start. Delicious pork filling in a juicy bun. Next, the Crab and Poke Bowl, with crispy softshell crab, ahi tuna poke, avocado rice, fresh vegetables, cilantro aioli, fried egg, crispy garlic, side tamari. This had a generous amount of seafood. The avacado rice and crisy garlic made every mouthful a delight. Also ordered the ube French toast, as we wanted a sweet to complete the meal. The ginger rum smear with berries had a complex and not too sweet finish. It was perfect. Next trip, was inspired by brunch and came for dinner ice. First trip, could not resist ordering the coconut honey walnut prawns. One of my favorite dishes, This version was not the standard shrimp, walnuts and mayonnaise. This came with fried tempura white prawns tossed in our house made coconut honey sauce, candied walnut, scallions, pickled strawberries, crispy rice shell, cabbage slaw . How good does that sound? It was a nice explosion of tastes. This is a theme here, food tastes expanding your mouth horizons. After that, the birria tacos, with guajillo slow braised birria, queso Oaxaca, consomé, lime, citrus pickled red onions. What a incredible mix of ingredients. Next visit, the Crab and Poke Bowl, which has crispy softshell crab, ahi tuna poke, avocado rice, fresh vegetables, cilantro aioli, fried egg, crispy garlic, side tamari. I also ordered a Shiso Lovely. This ha gin, shiso tincture, lemon, coconut milk, aquafaba, shiso sencha syrup. You can come here and order anything on the menu and you will be happy. Love this place and the incredible range of Asian and Mexican food items done right in one place. read more

We'd been trying to come here with friends for a few months, but the dates just weren't lining up. Finally had our chance a few weeks ago and scored a semi-last-minute Friday dinner reservation for 4 of us. We were surprised that the reservation confirmation stated dress code is "smart casual" which sent me in a bit of a spin. I'm not a sloppy dresser, but I do hate having to think too hard to interpret someone else's dress code. The lame part was that it was not even remotely enforced. If you wanna show up tie-dyed, untucked, in shorts and flip-flops, as some other patrons did that night, you won't be turned away. Also, the restaurant is in a strip mall. There's dim lighting and a comfortable atmosphere, but this is not fine dining. So my advice is don't stress too hard about this detail. Our waiter was really friendly and assured us that everything we ordered was one of his favorites. He also was great about checking on potentially problematic ingredients for us, so we felt confident in what we were ordering. I like that there's a plant-based section to the menu for easy-to-order vegan items, and that the rest of the menu includes a couple more vegetarian options as well. It's a bit of a bummer that I had to rule out at least 3 of their vegan entrees because I can't eat Impossible products. That being said, what I did eat was very tasty. Tofu Mushroom Bowl (sautéed mushrooms & onions, tofu, rice, serrano peppers, fresh vegetables, spicy miso sauce, fried egg, scallions; $23) was a good size and had nice flavor. I appreciated the house hot sauces our waiter brought out for it. I went with this over the yakisoba, which was very similar but with noodles instead of rice, because the yakisoba cost an additional $6 to add tofu. That's a crime in my book. The veg okonomiyaki rice (garlic fried rice, seasonal vegetables, okonomiyaki sauce, umami black garlic vegan mayo, scallions, sesame seeds, micro greens; $20) with tofu ($6) looked really good but did not really resemble okonomiyaki other than the mayo. Edamame dumplings (edamame vegetable dumplings with chili oil, scallions, fresh minced garlic, ginger, tamari, sesame oil; $16) were very garlicky, and the hoisin cauliflower (tempura cauliflower tossed with savory chili hoisin glaze, scallions, sesame seeds; $19) was a surprising favorite. Drinks were very photogenic. The Dragon's Claw (tequila, lime, serrano, guava, poblano liqueur, salt) had some good heat to it. All in all I think the consensus is that we're glad we came but not sure that we're rushing to come back. read more

Bar Dojo has an unassuming storefront that almost makes it feel like a secret. We booked during happy hour without knowing about HH and what a treat...we tried a few more items than we normally would have! Everything was fantastic...except my main entree, the Kalua Pork Rice Bowl. I didn't find it as great as the other dishes, it was a bit bland overall. Next time I'll try one of the noodle dishes. That said, we loved everything else. The dessert was a beautiful and delicious way to end the meal. Definitely make reservations for Bar Dojo. I'd say it rates at a solid 4.5 stars for me. Next time if I have a stellar entree I'll bump my review up to 5 stars. read more

The family was over in Edmonds tonight and my wife went on Yelp to see what was in the area - - am I glad Yelpers gave Bar Dojo good reviews as it did NOT disappoint. We arrived when they opened at 4:00, which was the beginning of their happy hour. A quick review of their happy hour food and drinks: Chardonnay- only one brand, but it was good enough for repeat orders Sauv Blanc - pass Pork dumplings - I would rate these as the best in the area, and the sauce is out of this world...we ordered another order. Not doughy, and lots of pork stuffing Gochujang chicken wings - crispy, but sauced with a mild but spicy sauce - truly outstanding and we ordered another Pork sliders - 2 large sliders, perfectly sauced, with shoestring fries that were hot and crispy..seasoned with salt and pepper Cosmopolitans - outstanding, ordered many! They started filling up the restaurant around 4:30, so we're glad we got there when they opened at 4:00, and it was full at 5:00. Nice bar with food service at the bar, and ample seating - - you weren't on top of the table next to you. And the service was definitely 5-star. There was simply too many great-sounding dishes on their menu, so that means we'll have to go back, and soon! This is one of those places that you'd drive right by if you weren't paying attention and not on Yelp. I can see now why their reviews are so high... read more

First time here and I have mixed feelings, but I'm definitely planning on coming back. The restaurant was fairly empty as we were there on a Monday night (don't have to make reservations online because they charge $50 cancellation fee), so we had a table set up for us nicely. I ordered the Crab and Poke Bowl which was huge and offered my plenty of leftovers for lunch. They give you an entire soft shell crab on the side with a good portion of tuna poke. I had a couple sips of the ramen broth but it wasn't very flavorful, so I'd probably skip it when we come back. The beef noodle bowl was quite tasty and had delicious flavors.
