Well this was a find... Queer o meter 10! And what a great little spot. It's loved in an unassuming quiet strip mall type plaza next to a Dunkin. It's not much to look at from The outside, and frankly inside isn't dazzling either. It's small with hmmm 10 tables maybe?! Fairly nondescript. But that's where the nondescript ends because the service and food were great. Check out the pictures, they speak for themselves. And every item we got was delicious, hot and served with a smile. There was one alcoholic drink and the bill with tip, was about $52 pp. that was with the shared apps, a meal each and 2 shared desserts. IMO, fairly priced. Want a romantic dinner? Don't go here. Want great food, nice service folk and to support local? Go here. It's delicious! Cheers!

I really like this place. The food is all good and it's super easy to eat healthy here. Personally I love the bimibop and their dumplings are great as well. Staff is always friendly as well.

Overall great little spot but a bit pricey in some aspects! Service: The service wasn't great we weren't offered water refills and had to ask for our check and boxes. Water cups were very small so I was hoping to at least be asked if we wanted more. There was only one other group of two seated which for how slow it was we should've had better service. Ambiance: Very calm spot with nice plant decorations and a very welcoming environment. Japchae and Bulgogi w sides: Great seasoned meat and portions. Meat prices vary but I paid $3 to add beef to my Japchae which made it about $19. I do like how big the portions were in comparison to some other spots for similar prices. My brother and I got full. Everything tasted fantastic and we were happy with what we got for the price. Great side dishes that paired excellent with our food. Drinks: Sujeonggwa and Haitai Crushed pear drinks ridiculously overpriced. Each drink was $5 and they are just canned and added over ice. They were good but don't waste money and instead go to a local Asian mart and get them for under $2! I also noticed desserts like a 3pc fried cinnamon sugar and fruit filling dumpling was very pricey or even small portion items cost a lot. Overall: I'd likely come back just to get some decent Korean food with some good portions but there were a few issues with service and prices on things.

I am super excited to have a great Korean spot this area in RI and not have to go to Providence for it! Bapsang is located in a strip mall with lots of parking. There are a decent amount of tables. Each time I've gone I didn't need to wait on a table and was seated right away. One of my favorite dishes there is the chicken wings! They are so crispy and flavorful and have the perfect texture. They do have a gluten free menu but they mention cross contamination is possible so likely not a celiac friendly spot.

The food was so good and the ambiance and service was impeccable. Kat our waitress was just adorable and such a sweetheart. She had great recommendations! Walking in we received such a warm welcome and so many smiles we felt very happy to be here. It felt like going over to a relatives you haven't seen in a while. The smell of food and sizzling sounds from the kitchen make you feel so hungry and when you receive the food you just melt it is so good. The food comes out fairly quick and hot and fresh. Love the kimchee!!!

Don't be fooled by appearances. This unassuming spot in a strip mall is a haven for fantastic Korean food! The Korean fried chicken wings were SO CRISPY and the spicy sauce wasn't too spicy. Really balanced flavor and spice all the way. I also really loved the spicy chicken ramen. It wasn't too spicy either but beware that it can stain your clothes as you slurp away My cousin got the army soup and loved it (she had been here on several occasions before and noted it was one of her favorite dishes). I will be back!

This was our first time trying Bapsang but we will definitely be back. The staff were all so nice. The service was fantastic. The food was delicious. I would love to go back and order even more appetizers to share. The scallion pancakes were delicious with a nice sauce on the side. The fried dumplings had a nice crisp to them and good flavor. The fried chicken was quite nice. The sweet potato noodles with beef had fantastic flavor. I had trouble deciding which entree to order but I'm glad that I went with this one. The sides were all delicious as well. It's a small place won't a decent number of tables. If you have a larger party I'd plan ahead but plenty of 2-4 tops!

So happy that Bapsang is close by. It's definitely in a nondescript plaza that's easy to drive by. Inside it's small, but cozy and bright. Service was friendly and incredibly fast. Love the bonchon that they serve with your meal. We started with the dumplings and then got the katsu don and the short rib soup. I'd order everything again! The short rib soup was in one of their hot pots so it did stay steaming hot throughout the entire dinner and the katsu don had the perfect crunch. There are plenty of other things I'd like to try next time like their ramen and Korean fried chicken.

Our party of 2 stopped in for dinner on a Friday night in September and lucked out with the last open table in the restaurant. It's an intimate space, with about 8 tables in the dining room. It was our second time there and we remembered the food being excellent. We were greeted by our server and immediately put in an order for the Korean Fried Chicken Wings. After a few minutes of looking into the rest of the menu, we also got a spicy pork and squid, and a tofu stew. The chicken wings came out in less than 10 minutes after ordered and they were massive pieces covered in a extremely flavorful sauce that had spice and sweetness. They were also still crunchy and we were saying how we could just eat them as the entire meal- they're that good. After we cleaned our faces and hands, the entrees arrived and each came with an array of accompaniments on a tray. The spicy pork came with lettuce to make wraps and some sauces as well, and the tofu stew came with a bowl of rice amongst other goodies. They were both excellent, the stew was comforting and the spicy pork and squid had a fiery kick. As excellent as the food was last time, we felt it was even this time and are eager to go back to Bapsang- especially when the weather is a little colder and its stew season.

The restaurant name, Bapsang, has an awe-inspiring backstory rooted in the Korean tradition of building a meal around rice. On the way back from Port Juliet, we found this charming little Korean spot and were so excited to try the dishes. ===== RATING: B- ===== [FOOD: 5/10 ] General Comments: - Their soups seem strictly curated and are not chicken friendly! Most will have pre-set protein options except for the Soondubu (Tofu Stew) - Banchan (side dishes) are limited in options with only 3 underwhelming plates of sweet potato, cucumbers in a spicy sauce, and lettuce with minimal drizzling of a dressing Silken Tofu Salad - 3/10 It was presented beautifully so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, this dish did not meet them. While the salad was refreshingly cool and tossed seamlessly, it lacked flavor. I wish it would've had a small bit of gochujang or some additional dressing to kick it up a bit. I would definitely not get it again. Hotpot Bulgogi Stew - 5/10 I was brave today and wanted to try something I hadn't seen before on the menu at a Korean restaurant. This soup has only a couple of main ingredients: bulgogi (beef), mushroom, carrots, onions, and glass noodles. The broth was flavorful with notes of both savory and sweet. However, beef was inconsistent in texture with some pieces soft and some overly chewy and tendon-y. It was alright overall, but I don't think I'd get it again. [SERVICE: 8/10] Great service! Our servers were kind, respectful, and attentive. The food came out fast and piping hot. [AMBIANCE: 8/10 ] The inside is considerately decorated with pretty paintings and beige-toned decorations. The noise volume is not too loud or too quiet. The food is served on pretty wooden trays fittingly complimented with gold metal silverware. [OVERALL: 7/10 ] For what the restaurant lacks in culinary flair and true authenticity, it makes up for with attention to aesthetic detail and quality service. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant with reliably great food to frequent, this place might fall short. However, it's fine for a single-time checkout for hungry out-of-state visitors like us. If I do come back, I'll try the wings. They seem to be pretty popular so maybe this is what people come here for.

This is a little gem in all sense of the word. Nestled in an unlikely spot of Rhode Island Bapsang is great. Food is solid and presentation with the individual side dishes for the individual diner just works. This was out second time to Bapsang and I tried their hot stone bi bim bap. I normally don't get bi bimbap since we have it pretty often at home but we don't do a stone bowl so I decided to go for it. It's got a nice mix of fresh vegetables, egg and meat. You can of course customize it to your liking. I love the crunchy rice that you get from the hot bowl. The sides are okay. My kid got the Kalbi which was seasoned really well and well caramelized. My wife got the ossam bulgogi which is her absolute favorite. I think the one knock for bapsang is that they don't give the traditional kimchi as a side. It's the cucumber kind which isn't really fermented and just a bit too fresh and fish saucy for my taste. I understand why they do it however. I think regular kimchi can be a big source of waste for a restaurant. But it would be nice for it to be an option. I always order a bottle of green apple soju to complete the meal. It fills the role of alcohol and dessert for me. A double win. 5 stars Bapsang.

Hidden gem in real life Was visiting this place after a long time. Our initial visit was just ok, due to modest ambience and not so impressive taste. Visited again yesterday and was mind blown with the quality of food, presentation and ambience of the place. We tried spicy fried rice, Korean ramen and bibimbap and all 3 dishes were outstanding. Will be back again to try other dishes from the menu

Yum! A definite Korean jewel! We took a lovely drive to Newport, Rhode island which is amazing! After that we were quite hungry and son wanted Korean food. We were lucky to find this small Korean restaurant not far away. They have a small parking lot and from the outside just looked like an ordinary restaurant but wow! Step inside to find an amazing peaceful, relaxing little gem. Beautifully decorated. The service was very good and fairly fast. THE Food was so delicious. My katsu was light and crispy, not oily at all. The hot plum wine was wonderful and they gave refills. Son's loved his spicy pork and hubby loved his hot noodle dish. The ban chan was also very good! Everything was wonderful and we would love to come back if we're ever in the area again!

Happy we have a place with some different flavors in this area. I've been three times and ordered a few different dishes but my favorite is the Korean bbq beef (bulgogi). The meat is perfectly cooked and bite sized. I appreciate that they prepare orders for take out as well. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is cozy and clean. Dinner portions are large enough to split unless you're really hungry. Try a few different options and share. I also enjoyed the bibimbop bowl. read more

I had so much hope for decent Korean outside of Providence, but this is categorically the worst Korean restaurant I've ever eaten at. The scallion pancakes were crispy on the outside and dripping raw batter when bitten into, had a fowl taste to them and the dumplings were slimy and mushy. Sorry, Bapsang, but you have MUCH to improve upon before I even consider eating there again. read more

Amazingly delicious! I was so thrilled to learn that RI (North Kingstown) has gotten its first Korean restaurant. It's immaculate inside and the adorable staff are so very friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. Many items to choose from including beef, pork and tofu (and a little shrimp and tuna). I've been there three times already just last week. The food is scrumptious and crave worthy, and I craved it a lot last week! Just a few tables but I always found one - and LOTS of folks getting carry out. You've got to try Bapsang / the food will have you coming back again and again. read more

Phone-ordered Spicey Ramen for takeout from menu picked up a week previously. The menu stated a price of $13.95. At pickup, was charged $15.95. Was told that the menu had changed. But on a menu from those currently at the site, the price was $13.95. Told proprietor that I get Spicey Ramen from the Upper West Side of NYC for $12-13. read more

We've been wanting to try Bapsang before it was even open! We live in the neighborhood & had been eyeing the restaurant for a while. We decided to do take out the other night & everything was delicious! I think the true test is to actually eat at the restaurant itself, but we were pleasantly surprised at how tasty & fresh the food was. I got the soy bean stew with veggies & vegetable Korean dumplings. My husband got a meat bibimbap. I don't eat meat & was very happy to find that there are a lot of options for a non-meat eater. We thoroughly enjoyed our food & will absolutely be back! read more

I live nearby, and saw the renovation of this restaurant over a few weeks and I came as soon as I saw it was open. I was really hyped to have a Korean place close by and I was not disappointed. They have phenomenal Korean BBQ and soups for a fair price. Only complaint is that the portions are a little small, so don't worry about ordering too little. The family who runs it is very nice too. Good spot, where there is the any Korean food around. Food was good and prices were typical with Korean food. Do plan to wait or have a backup plan if you go right at dinner time, and probably lunch time too, since the place is really small. We have the ramen for my 2 and 4 YO daughters and they enjoyed it. The both had a good rich boney flavor. My wife had the tofu soup which she says was good. I ordered the boneless crispy chicken which was good too. Edit: lol alot of typos on my mobile. read more

A valuable addition to the pizza-strewn wasteland that is the North Kingstown restaurant scene. On my two visits here, my companions and I enjoyed every bite, from the fresh and springy steamed vegetable dumplings to the perfectly rendered dolsot bibimbop to the airy cheesecake dumplings. Decor is tasteful but a bit stark -- as another reviewer mentioned, it has more of a quick take-out vibe, and I'm not a fan of the syrupy Muzak they play. Service is earnest and friendly, if not polished -- it definitely feels like a family operation. I'm looking forward to working my way through the whole menu. read more

I cannot believe how pricey this place is for what you get. 'Bowl of noodle $16 :( ! East Village NYC price in Kingstown RI ???? Plus the venue is a mom and pops vibe with IKEA branded furniture. Clearly your not paying for the venue either... The chicken ramen was not made out of fresh ramen noodles nor the stock was. It was totally made out of a package noodle with veggies and chicken in it $16. LMAO~ Its a joke. I was embarrassed to my friend who was with me that I payed for the whole bill. The server was attentive but didn't really know what there proper duty was. Communication was difficult too. Our water was never filled either. I would have said something if I wasn't with my friend. More interesting thing is, its the same style of food from MOKBAN korean restaurant in Providence, the tray thing system. I mean its a great concept but shouldn't the tray be full of side dishes and goodies if they are gonna do that system? Or use a smaller tray? It just upsets me as an asian customer knowing that the restaurant is totally up-charging there clients with potentially aiming towards the local community who barely had Korean food experience. Great asian concept ruining it with cheap shortcuts. FYI i can get package noodle for $1 at stop and shop. Bapseng Restaurant: please be realistic on prices and present fair quality if you are going to charge that much for a bowl of soup. That would be the only way you will survive long in this area. We are a small town in Rhode Island, not Manhattan NYC. read more

Very disappointed in the experience but the decor was really nice and I've been wanting to try this place out since my friends had a galentines day event here after our spa day but I had to go home so I didn't make it to the restaurant until today. Food was okay, the calamari taste like fish sticks and my husband and kids like fish sticks but I don't so I didn't eat that. My philly roll was okay but my husband and kids all loved their rolls so it's always nice when your kids are satisfied with the food. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'd give this place another chance because it is 5 minutes away from my house but the service and overall experience was mid. The orange chicken was good nothing special so I was happy about that. This review is for their dim sum menu! Is it the best dim sum ever? No, but it's quite good and…read morereally solid! Dim sum is usually a brunch thing, but we were in the area for a movie and just wanted dim sum for dinner. The two of us ordered the congee with shredded pork and thousand year egg, bok choy, salty shrimp, and off of the dim sum menu: steam rice roll with shrimp, chicken feet, oyster sauce duck feet, siu mai x2, shrimp chive dumplings, and Chinese tea. Forgot to take a photo of the siu mai even though that's our favorite. We also asked for hot mustard and chili oil sauce because that's how my family has eaten dim sum and that's how we now continue to enjoy dim sum. Everything tastes as expected. The chicken feet were nice and soft and fell off the bone. The dishes weren't too salty. The salty shrimp was as advertised--salty and crunchy. The congee is a large portion because it's mostly rice and water, but I just really wanted it and it did not disappoint. The tea could have been more flavorful, it was quite light. Despite that, the tea is still a diuretic. We did end up taking some food as leftovers. The customer service was really fast and polite! The interior is pleasant with interesting decor (a spear/halberd? mounted on the wall). The table partitions are pretty tall so you don't see the other customers if they're seated adjacent. It wasn't very busy when we went on a Wednesday evening, and parking is no issue at all here. Overall a good place to get some Chinese food whether you're a party of two or a party.

I always liked that this restaurant seems to be a small house converted into a restaurant since it literally makes me feel at [someone's] home. We were given QR codes to scan for the menu; not my favorite. I overheard another table ask for paper menus, so it appears there is that option. For a starter, we ordered handmade lamb dumplings and for entrees, original meefen and lamb on dry land with a side of white rice. It all ended up coming out around the same time and the tables are a little small so it felt like an overwhelming amount of food, but it was actually the perfect amount for two people. The lamb dumplings were flavorful, albeit, the wrappers were a tad too soft. The original meefen was very tasty, especially the minced meat. However, the uden noodles don't do a great job of absorbing sauces, so it felt like a lot of the oils and flavor were left behind. The lamb on dry land was good, but it was difficult to eat especially two people. We didn't realize it would be meat on a stick, similar to a turkey leg but less meaty. We ended up eating the easy parts, but took the bone home to finish out of the public eye. The crispy potatoes on top were my friend's favorite. The total was about $50 which was fair. Our waiter and other staff members did an excellent job of getting us all we needed and clearing plates as we finished. To start: The Pu Pu for two (with dynasty wing sauce upgrade) Many of you will come here in the hopes of recapturing the China Dynasty wing. This wing comes circled around the flavor of the Dynasty wing, but is not exactly the Dynasty wing you loved. I will say, the chicken wing (4) (2 wings 2 drums) itself is a larger wing than China Dynasty long offered. I appreciated that. The Beef teriyaki were good and the Pu Pu flame was warranted to char them up a bit (2) the egg rolls were good (2) the bone in spareribs were good (2) the shrimp (2) I will omit my opinion on as it would not be fair for me to rate as coconut is not my flavor. Crab Rangoon (2) (Triangle style) I did not try, but am told that they pass, & lastly boneless chicken (8) was very good. I appreciated the fact that the server Natalie offered to bring brown gravy along with the Pu Pu platter. It was a very strong move of her. As for Natalie she was very attentive and a nice server. As for the mains- the Mongolian Beef combo with Pork fried rice and egg roll. It was very good. Beef was tender, and plenty of veg (do wish there was some more beef) and the pork fried rice with adding some white pepper and some of the dynasty sauce got it over the finish line. Sesame chicken was ordered, and I'm told it was good as well. As for the ambiance. I appreciate the fact that the new owners spent what is likely a fortunate to renovate. It is very modern, and very bright. Subjectively speaking it does not match the comfort food that they serve. I do appreciate a more dim, ambient environment while eating Chinese food.
