Oh my gosh I am obsessed with this place and it really takes me back to my roots. They have a ton of Vietnamese noodle soups that I grew up loving, and all of it tastes super authentic. It's a pretty small restaurant but I'm always so shocked that it's almost always empty when I come here because everything is so good, from the food to the service and the vibes! We came here on Sunday afternoon around 4:30 - 5:30 and honestly left pretty disappointed with the service from one female staff member. I'm writing this review hoping the restaurant can improve the customer experience moving forward. First, her attitude was very unfriendly. She never smiled, seemed annoyed the entire time, and often didn't even respond when we politely asked for extra bowls, spoons, napkins, vegetables, etc. It got to the point where we felt uncomfortable and almost guilty asking for anything. If I remember correctly, she was also wearing AirPods while working, which made the service feel even more inattentive and unprofessional. Second, the restaurant was very crowded at the time with several large tables full of customers needing service. Meanwhile, this staff member was standing around on her phone and eating a cupcake while customers were trying to get attention. The owner can probably review the Sunday afternoon camera footage if needed. Third, the worst part was that we genuinely did not feel comfortable calling her over whenever we wanted to order more food or ask questions about the menu. At one point our table literally said, "Just ask the male server instead." Her attitude came across as dismissive and careless toward customers. This is especially disappointing in OC where there are so many great Vietnamese restaurants and customers have plenty of choices. Our table spent around $250 that afternoon. We came to enjoy a good meal and good service, not to feel like we were begging for basic customer service. On the other hand, the male staff member was excellent -- friendly, patient, attentive, and willing to spend time explaining dishes and helping customers. We truly appreciated his service. I sincerely hope the restaurant addresses this issue because it negatively affected our entire dining experience. I called them to let them know that they did not pack it right and their first response was to accuse me of dropping the container. Then, they told me to bring it back so they could remake it. However, we chose Chinese fried rice w sausages, eggs and hot soup w crab meats, some noodles. Thank God!!! Right choices for the first time!!! The fried rice looked so flavorful w big shrimps. It was heavenly good. For the soup w crab meats, there were crab meat balls, tofu, tons of crab meats w something crispy and chewy veggies like water Cresson. I love love it!! The broth was so flavorful, made me warm, relaxed. I want to try it next time for sure. We had a great lunch time to discover the new ambiance and new cuisines. I discovered this new Vietnamese restaurant in Korean mall. I know this place, it was Chinese restaurant for a while. The generation is getting younger, changing. The parents generation is retired, baby boomer. That is why the restaurant looks very fresh, young. They have rice, soup menus, including hot pot. My wife said, hard to understand the menu, more Vietnamese language not clear English descriptions on the menu. But we found Chinese fried rice w chewy sausages and crab soup w noodles. The service was so fast. Almost right away we got the fried rice and crab soup. Wow...looked amazing. The portion is big enough for 2 people, very tasty. For the fried rice, very crunchy, well balanced w sausages, big shrimps. My wife had crab soup, she loved it. Made warm, sweaty, just like the comfort soup in the winter. Overall, the service and price are very good. The portion is huge. The broth is rich, lots of green veggies, tons of crab meats. She said, I can't stop eating this soup. Sooooo good. This review is purely for the customer service. Never have I ever felt the need to leave a bad review, but this experience was honestly one of the worst. We came in around 7:15 PM and ordered spring rolls for to-go. After waiting about 15 mins, 3 other parties came in after us and ordered full meals. We completely understood and were honestly fine with them getting their food before us. But it got to the point where they were almost done eating and our spring rolls still hadn't even come out. By then it has been 30 mins of us standing there and staring at people eating while wondering what was going on with our simple order. What made the situation worse was the cashier's attitude. Instead of simply apologizing for the delay, she bluntly told me that spring rolls "always take longer" than dishes like Bun Dau, Bun Mam, or even hot pot which those 3 parties ordered. Because my spring rolls have to roll and others just have to cook and fry. So my rolling process is almost 1 hour process compare to frying. Please explain to me how spring rolls would take almost an hour compared to Bun Mam, Bun Dau, and hot pot orders that came after us. A simple apology and honest explanation would have completely resolved the issue. Mistakes and delays happen, but the way it was handled was disappointing and unnecessary. Today (05/09) around 7:30 PM, my friend and I went to Bap's Kitchen to try their spring rolls because my friend loves spring rolls and has tried them at multiple restaurants. We decided to try Bap's Kitchen spring rolls to end our fun hanging-out day, but it turned out to be really disappointing. Spring rolls are one of the easiest dishes to make, especially at a Vietnamese restaurant, yet we had to wait 30 minutes for an order that should honestly take maybe 5 minutes to prepare. Ridiculous! We waited patiently, but the most frustrating part was watching food come out for people who arrived after us. Like, what the hell? We were so frustrated. When we asked the cashier, she said our order took longer because they had to boil the meat and roll the spring rolls fresh. Honestly, that explanation made no sense. Instead of giving excuses, just admit the order got delayed or messed up and apologize. That's literally all we needed. What made it even worse was that someone ordered bún đậu mắm tôm after us and got their food first. Isn't the pork used in that dish basically the same boiled pork used in spring rolls? Spring rolls are literally just vegetables, boiled pork, and shrimp. It shouldn't take that long. Very disappointing experience. Never going back!! read more

You get mostly large 4 piece of pork paste balls (kind of Luke warm temp) 2 pieces of fried cha chien , and some spare riblets which were tender fall off the bone. You get some mini toppings as fried pork chicharones. The blanched noodles are quite inconsistent as I found some fragments to be under cooked. Overall- you get bang for your buck on getting the proteins in. Be advised if you're here for on a 30 minute lunch break you won't make it. My dad's go to place for party food to-go- he especially loves the Lau de/goat stew and think it's the best in OC. As a sit in restaurant, it's a bit small but that only makes the food taste better. They never skimp on the protein here, which is great. However, my only comment is, Bap Kitchen should put very little oil in the dish or on the side. I ordered Hai Phong style crab noodle soup (banh da cua Hai Phong, i think). But for me, i translated it as crab haven soul food. Well, not a haven for the crabs per se. The broth is packed with crab flavor. It's THE noodle soup for fishcake fans. There's so many elements in the noodle soup that you can have different bites in every scoop. It is a little kitchen located next to a hobby shop. I stopped by to try it out. They have both in and out door dining. The indoor only has about 3 to 4 tables and 3 outside. The menu offers some varieties of sandwiches, soup, and rice platters. I ordered a beef stew rice. It was served in a bowl of rice, some mint leaves, and a bowl of stew. The stew itself was good, the rice had a good texture too. Beef was a little bit on the dry side, and there wasn't enough stew for the entire bowl of rice. I was able to enjoy my meal overall. After searching for a new restaurant for early dinner. My wife said this place has 4 stars, so we gave it a try. Upon entering, it looks small and old and need a updated. Service person is ok, not bad like some poeple reviews. Menu has a lot of items, so we pick dishes below: 1) Bắp xào - it's looks good, smells good, and inviting.The portion is large, fresh, and flavorful. It only cost $8 for this dish. Oh, don't forget to add pepper to it. We love it. 2) Bột chiên - it looks good and smells great. It's not a large portion, but enough for me. The fried eggs and rice flour are crunchy outside but soft enough inside. I ate at many other places, and it is normally hard outside and dry inside. I would eat again next time. 3) bún mắm- this is my wife favorite bowl. She likes it. Sorry, I can't comment about how its smell , lol. The soup is flavorful but a little too salty for her, so she added 2 slices of lemon, and it tastes great. All the meats, fish and egg plants are perfectly yummy. BTW, this bowl is so big, I have to help her eat some, but we still can't finish it. She voted that this soup is the best around The Little Saigon area.
