This is an absolute chill kick back and relax place with great food!! No frills no fluff but all the goodness when it comes to the food and drinks. I went for brunch on Sunday. It reminds me a local place you can come eat and relax without the waitress pushing you to hurry up because they have a wait for 2 hours. I had the Banana Fosters French toast with chicken sausage.... MAN was it damn good!! The syrup the make to go on the French toast is stellar and the chicken sausage was perfectly balanced with flavor and spice. My friend had the Ham and Eggs which she said was great. I went to Bantam Pub for the first time yesterday for brunch. I immediately loved the environment and how chill and low key it was. They offer brunch until 2 which is perfect for late starting people who say they are on the way but they are actually getting in the shower. The service was great and even accommodated for a guest I was with and made something that wasn't listed on the menu! The liquor, wine, beer selection is great and have plenty to choose from. Boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday for brunch. I ordered the the Western omelette, subbed bacon for the ham. Kept the grits. I was especially happy the grits didn't taste bland, and instead had some real flavor to it. Boyfriend got the Eggs n' Gravy. He ordered his eggs over easy, but they were definitely over cooked. Biscuits and gravy were delicious though. Great dish to share if you wanted. Overall, it was mighty tasty! We would order again. Now comes service.............. unacceptable. A party of two sat down right next to us - 10 mins after we had arrived, and were served waters and given menus instantly. Mind you we still had nothing. By the time our waiter came to us, she asked if we were ready to order. Ummm no - We still needed menus. So I asked for waters and a few mins to read over it. Once she took our order, it took a solid 45MINS - to an HOUR for our food to arrive. The party of two that was next to us, had already ate, paid and left, all before we even got our food and they came in after us. I'm sorry but it does not take 45mins to make an omelette or pour gravy over some biscuits. If the kitchen was running behind, a warning would've been nice, but we didn't get that. My first time here, and I eat on the road a lot! And most places I eat don't really hold up the standards. But this place has gone above and beyond. The waitress was very kind, friendly, and really hot! To me she set the atmosphere for the place. Order was taken quickly and man oh man! The food was amazing! A group of friends and I just rented an airbnb nearby, and we saw that this place was poppin'! So of course we had to check out why. The place was cool. It had a rustic pub feel. I think that we came at a bad time--it was super early so the location was just opening for the day, and I don't really think we ordered the right things to give a good review. Overall, I waited for a bit for the food, but it wasn't bad. The service was really nice, and they gave us notice about it. After over an hour of waiting, it then took 5 minutes from the time for the first plate to hit the table for the last plate to hit the table for our party of 6. Tapas style brunch i guess? Things only got worse from there when we were directed to self serve our own water. If your short staffed just be upfront so people can choose if they have the time and patience for that and avoid frustration getting taken out on the servers. Had a late lunch at Bantam Pub and was one of only three people there around 2:00 which suited me perfectly. Case the bartender was very friendly, quick to get me a sweet tea and chatted up some things going on in the neighborhood while I waited for my food. Between the Angus burger and the Flying Pig I went with beef and was very happy that it came medium rare as I'd requested. Fries are of the light/crispy variety which isn't my favorite but they were hot and did right by the excellent burger they accompanied. Since I wasn't in the mood to make dinner later I also ordered the Flying Pig to go. This decision will be the reason I can tell people how smart I am at cocktail parties. Genius move on my part because this thing is perfection in every way (and I've had more than a few Primanti sandwiches). Same fries and they were fine paired with the Pig even after a few hours in the refrigerator. I could only eat half so there will be a Flying Pig lunch leftover party tomorrow. The only reason I don't go to Bantum Pub more often is I have to pass 10 other great pubs and restaurants to get to it. I think that might change though - this is going to be my new mid afternoon lunch and summer refreshment stop during the week for a while. Bantam is a really laid back place that is your everyday bar. Calling it a pub is misleading because pubs usually have sports and Bantam has a 20 inch TV mounted on the top of the bar that's never on. They have a ATL united flag but I highly doubt they show the games so that's kinda fake like most of these places in the area that are only there because of gentrification. The food is meh at best with the best item I have had being their wings. The wings are fresh and very evenly spiced. They are really good and a good value for the portion. I have been twice and the first time service was terrible but this second time Tyler my server was sweet and attentive. The prices are fair for what you get in the area. Good spot to get a drink and quick bite but nothing special. Their burger month burger is ok at best. The description is misleading. It's a meh too. read more

Came here on a whim. Glad we did. Everyone loved their food. We got some Hummus and that was good. Lamb and bacon omelette was prefect! Nice and hardy and hit the spot. You may not expect a little pub in O4W sitting right off of the BeltLine to serve such an amazing brunch, but these guys are pumping out some seriously tasty dishes. After speaking about visiting many times, we finally came in for a meal mid-morning on a Sunday and fell in love with the menu here. The team here has done a fantastic job of updating this little space over the past year or so. There is now a fully built patio, which can be enclosed, and many great nods at clever design and decor. We were sitting at our table and started to look around the interior dining room. A gentleman came over and described some of the items to us in detail and gave us some of the backstory on the items, how they represent the surrounding neighborhood, etc. It was really nice to get that from the staff and to have the opportunity to hear about their beginnings. Really cool stuff. The food was fantastic and utterly adventurous. My wife ordered the veggie omelette and I had the duck confit over a waffle. Now, my wife's omelette was pretty standard, but was stuffed with some uncommon veggies -- artichoke hearts, for one. It was delicious. Also, the potatoes and grits were fantastic. The potatoes are served with sautéed onions and peppers and the grits were suuuuuper creamy. Absolutely wonderful. The duck confit was unreal. So many complex flavors were represented in this dish -- savory, sweet, spicy, along with a multitude of textures. I really loved the tomato marmalade atop the waffle, atop the duck confit. It had some fantastically pungent flavor and really rounded out each bite of duck with the sweet waffle. It was also served with syrup on the side, but I kept adding it to a minimum. One of the more interesting brunch dishes I've ever had and I was especially shocked at the price. Super affordable for the portion size. Not sure of which variety of coffee they use, but we really enjoyed our coffee as well. Thank you for using good coffee! The service was fantastic throughout our entire time. The folks welcomed us like we were family and all had smiles on their faces. It seems like a great atmosphere and equally a great place to work. They all were having a great time as they worked. Great things to see. I'm sure, on the regular, that Bantam is a fantastic watering hole for many of the surrounding residents, too. However, I'm going to have a hard time not coming back for brunch again before heading in for a beer. This place is truly worth its salt on the culinary side of things. The service is usually pretty poor here, but the food is good and the general ambiance is, too. However, today I went in with some friends and we sat for over 20 minutes without even being acknowledged by a server...and we were even sitting inside near the bar! Some servers were on their cell phones, some were talking, and others were rolling their eyes looking bored. We finally left...and no one even noticed. When I'm choosing a place to meet up with visiting friends, I ask myself: -Is parking easy and breezy? -Are the prices not ridiculous? -Is there a respectable drink menu with cocktails and draft beer? -Do the food offerings appeal to vegetarians/special diet in question? -Does it have good word-of-mouth/Yelp reviews? -Is it just plain cool? I'm pleased to report that Bantam Pub (I used to confuse this place with Bantam + Biddy) ticks all my boxes. A friend who lives in the area sang the praises of the lamb burger so I knew what I would be getting. Parking was simple since there's a lot right behind the restaurant, off Ensley, and street parking was also a choice. We sat inside for climate control reasons, but the large patio was hoppin' for sure. The bouquet of fresh flowers on the table included pitcher plants, very neat! The lamb burger ($13.50) lived up to our expectations. Our terrific server recommended getting it medium so we did that. Exercise caution since spherical "crispy micro onions" can escape their focaccia bun confines and roll into your lap. For extra dollars, I subbed fries for a side salad (you could also elect to have sweet potato fries, an arugula salad, or the daily vegetable). My friend loved the veggie burger. Apparently the brat plate was the weakest link, though the sauerkraut and mashed potatoes did earn raves. I didn't try one of the amusingly-named cocktails but I did consume beer in dessert form. The Guinness cake ($7) was delightful and shouldn't be missed if you're a sweet fiend like me. I love when chocolate chips are contained in a cake; they add small chocolatey bursts of awesome. The cake even came with some strawberry halves. Our waitress also recommended the bread pudding, amongst other choices. She split our checks without us even asking which very much impressed all of us. Some negatives: the chair I was sitting on was a tad uncomfortable since the edge where your thighs go was higher that the middle of the seat. And it was on the loud side too. Good tunes but could be dialed down some; I had to strain to hear across the table. And I wish subbing fries for a side salad was less than $3. Our friends kept remarking that this was a cool place so I patted myself on the back for suggesting Bantam Pub. I'll be putting down Small Chicken/Batman Pub for a return visit! read more

With all the new changes that Bantam Pub has made during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is much more deserving of a 4.5 rating. They have completely changed the inside to have a wrap-around bar, which opens up the inside a lot. Their biggest improvement comes with a re-paving and awning installing for their outdoor porch area. Their porch area has quite a bit of space- I felt extremely safe sitting outdoors and was able to choose my own seat far away from other patrons. Their servers were also very respectful of personal boundaries/safety precautions during the pandemic...our waitress was wearing a mask the whole time and would stand at a distance when checking in on us while we had our masks off with eating. She was very attentive with making sure we had everything we needed but didn't come by too much. This was the first time I have eaten at a restaurant during the pandemic, and it felt very safe. However, if you go during more popular times of day, there will definitely be more people on the porch, limiting your space. If you are currently eager to go out to eat but are following precautions, I would encourage you to come to Bantam on off hours and sit on the porch area. read more

Last night marked the seventh time that we've visited Bantam Pub in two months. Our initial visit came by the recommendation of some fun, refreshing cocktails that a friend mentioned, but the food and EXCELLENT service has brought us back each time. When we were dining last night, I asked my GF "Have we ever had bad service here?" and the answer is a resounding no. We've had four different servers, sat at the bar twice and each time we've enjoyed every minute. The Mongolian Yak & Dark and Slurry are two original takes on some well known drinks. They love to use candy in their signature cocktails, which works out well because I love candy(and alcohol). Great draft selection as well with Bell's Two Hearted on the menu. The hummus is a great way to get started with the pita bread, olives, eggplant and hummus aplenty. The hangar steak is another great go to which we usually get in tandem with the calamari. Since we've enjoyed everything we've eaten here, we've started ordering the specials more often. Last night(6/6/14)I had the ribeye which was cooked to a perfect medium rare on top of some unbelievably well seasoned brussel sprouts. The mashed potatoes on the side were excellent and after this king's feast I left feeling very satisfied. We've never felt like the bill was too expensive either. We usually round out with two cocktails each, an appetizer and each an entree and we average around $60. I never mind paying for anything as long as we've enjoyed our time out and this place never fails. A very good looking staff, too! Lastly, if you have any room left, do not skip on the Guiness Chocolate Cake. I have to fight with myself to not order this every time I go. read more

Got the Lamb Burger for Burger Week for $5 and it was AAAAMAZING! One of only a few places that allows you to do take out for the burger special. Everything about this burger was fantastic, but the chili marmalade and feta combo on the burger were stand outs. Those flavors gave my mouth an orgasm. I will probably be back tomorrow to grab a couple to go and will def be back in the future even when they don't have the special any longer. TLDR: Very solid spot for food and drinks right by the BeltLine in the Fourth Ward. There are no shortage of spots to get some food and drinks in the Old Fourth Ward, but Bantam Pub seems like it could be a reliable place for me to come back to again and again. Located right across the street from Anthem and Venkman's, Bantam has a great location in the Fourth Ward and by the BeltLine, but without the traffic. In case you don't walk here from the BeltLine, or use Uber or Lyft, there is ample street parking available along Ralph McGill. Even on a Friday evening, it wasn't hard at all to find parking here. While they are known for their drinks, they are working to get draft beer back working here, at least from my understanding. Bantam only had cans and bottled beer when I last went, but they should have taps back pretty soon. Despite this, there are respectable selections of wines available, and the cocktail list looks great. The candy cocktail list is very well priced with some of them as low as 8.50. I've had the Mongolian Yak before, which is a "cousin to the Moscow Mule". If you like the latter, you should definitely like the former. The shareable plates that I've had are pretty solid as well. There aren't the best I ever had, but they're definitely good enough to get again: - Smoked Bourbon Wings (ten wings) // $12 - Fried Calamari (with honey dijon glaze, jalapeno aioli, and shaved parmesan) // $10 You surprisingly get a large amount of calamari with an order, so if you're hungry, this will help in satisfying that appetite. The shaved parmesan is a nice touch to the flavors here. The service at Bantam is great - friendly, but not overbearing. Food and drinks came out fast, so you can't beat that. It helps make for the chill atmosphere you have at Bantam, it's just a great place to hangout. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with at Bantam and it's definitely worth a visit. read more

Came here with big Simba. No picture as proof. The pub has a detached deck with 3 tables and we sat there. Servers were attentive. Believe it or not, one server took our order. Another attended to Simba and gave him ice-cold water. Food was good. Ordered the lamb burger. It was huge, had to take home half of it. Husband ordered the BBQ Pork burger. Came with sweet potato fries, they were nice and soft. My husband liked my french fries becos they were crispy. He said the pork burger was good & had a little kick. The catchphrase of the this bar (that is trying to be a restaurant) is "it's not terrible" and that about sums it. Good spot to watch a game, wallow on a weekday or sit on the outdoor seating (which is pretty much on the sidewalk) with some friends on the weekend. It's pretty much all bar food, and for bar food it does alright. Go for the fried calamari, the mac and cheese, or one of the burgers. It's fine, the place is fine, the food & drink is fine. Very busy tonight but I found a spot at the bar. I was craving red meat and the host suggested the hangar steak. It was very good! Had a brown mushrooms aside and potatoes. It would've been perfect if there were more spinach, only had a tiny bit. Steak was cooked to perfection! For dessert, I had the brownie a la mode. Great presentation! Brownie was awesome! There are also lots of other things I want to try at Bantam Pub, but there's no way I'm leaving without that bantam chicken sandwich. It's a masterpiece of blended flavor. The staff seems a little caught off guard by the large crowd there for 2pm lunch. It was a sunny day during winter, so I think a lot more people were out and about than the staff expected. For low key drinks, a laid back setting, tasty food, and pretty low prices for the area, Bantam checks all my boxes. The setting looks sort of divey from the outside, but inside it is nice, light filled, and has lots of seating options. The drinks are some of the cheapest you'll find on the Beltline - you can get a "fancy" cocktail for $8-9. The food is also surprisingly good for such a small space, with plenty of snacky options and larger, entree-sized items. It's not too loud, which also makes it a good spot to go for work/business drinks, though I wouldn't bring a large group. There's a small private parking lot for Bantam, and a good bit of free street parking as well. read more
