A variety of good food for sale
    Joe B.

This strip mall Vietnamese place is one of the best and offers a good variety of other Viet foods as you can see in the various pictures that others have posted. Of course that meant I spent a lot more then I planned when I just came in for Bahn Mi. I was feeding a crowd so got 4 different kinds and they were all excellent and price was spot on. The best thing I had was the egg rolls, very meaty with hardly any filler. I was not expecting such a good roll for only 1.25 and regret not buying them all. I feel it is very easy to get subpar rolls so I can be a bit cautious when trying a new place. I am looking forward to coming back. Place is small so most people get food to go.

We had their freshly made to order breaded fried banana for the first time this afternoon, so tasty! I asked for the coconut sauce on a side and it was heaven in my mouth dipping the fried banana in it. I would ask for a bit less breaded next time I get them because I prefer it barely breaded. They used the small yellow banana so it was perfect. Always top notch friendly service and I love that they make almost everything in-house. Come in to checkout all their fresh daily made Vietnamese snacks beside their delicious baguette also make and bake in-house!

I went to go get some banh mi and I ended up finding part of a plastic bag in my sandwich. Do not go here.

I have had the banh mi dac biet, BBQ pork banh mi, and grilled pork banh mi, which were all delicious. The baguette is exceptional, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ratio of bread to filling is perfect. Usually my go to is usually banh mi dac biet, but the grill pork banh mi was the best out of ones I tried. If you are looking for a savory drink and enjoy coconut or taro, try the Pandan milk! I've been here twice within the past couple of weeks, and plan to be back in the future. The staff is courteous and service is quick. It's pretty casual dining. There's some limited seating available, but it seems more like a quick stop place. Highly recommend it here!

Small clean little shop that sells banh mi, drinks and other premade desserts. We ordered the #1 dac biet and it was pretty good, came warm and toasted. The workers were kind, it came out relatively quick. The prices are super fair- way more inexpensive than other stores. Was a bit disappointed with the lack of pate spread. I think I probably only have a small amount that wasn't evenly distributed on the sandwich which was a bummer. The vegetables were nice and fresh though. I'd be interested in trying other items!

Always looking for good salad rolls, I came across this place while in the area visiting Penzey's and Michaels. When I stepped up to the counter and asked if they had salad rolls, I was greeted by the biggest smile and a "I just made some!" from the woman behind the counter. I ordered a Thai iced tea to go with them and left with the freshest salad rolls I've had in a long time. The shrimp & bbq pork were delicious, the peanut sauce was tasty and now I need to go back and get me a banh mi. Friendly fast service with a great smile, fresh food (look at the size of those salad rolls!) and easy access - couldn't ask for anything more!

#ThankYouThursday Happy Thanksgiving Day here at Portland, staying at hotel nearby and it was already after 1pm, deciding on where to eat that's opened, no luck since most of businesses were closed, Even fast food biz! Luckily I came across Banh Mi Fresh on Yelp, called to confirm if they were open. So grateful for this business! We walked over which was 30 min. walk from Happy Valley. Nice & new Banh Mi shop, I got to chat with owner Nicole (spelling) she was super nice! Banh Mi is for sure fresh here as the business states. There are lots of goodies here besides Banh Mi, at Banh Mi Fresh, mochi rice, drinks, Vietnamese desserts, bao, groceries & snacks. We got the combination Banh Mi, Bao, Spring rolls, Vietnamese Ice coffee with condense milk, total spent $15.50, Wow, so Cheap! $5.50 for combo Banh mi, its around $10. back on Oahu! I could taste the the bread so fresh & freshness from the ingredients. The bread from the Bao is so soft, I miss eating these! The spring rolls were a little oily and missing a dipping sauce. The coffee was very nice and strong! For sweets we got honeycomb pandan desserts. Needed something sweet, I love Pandan so this hit the spot! There are 2 tables at Banh Mi Fresh, which was perfect to enjoy our meals. I noticed there were lots of walk in customers, this place is getting popular since they just opened. All in all, hubby & I enjoyed our lunch before Our Thanksgiving feast & Since we are super close by, I plan to stop by for more banh mi. Thank you @Banh Mi Fresh for opening on this Thanksgiving Holiday!

Delicious banh mi and service is very friendly. This is no doubt one of the best banh mi spot in Oregon.

What I love about Pho Gabo is that the lesser known Vietnamese specialities really get a chance to shine here. These are items that a majority of Vietnamese places don't necessarily serve and can be quite rare throughout a the many pho restaurants we have in Portland. On this day I had the banh canh cua which is the crab udon noodle soup. Despite being a smaller restaurant with a lot of various dishes/soups....I was worried that the broths would taste "stale" since they might not have much turnover. However everytime I've dined at Pho Gabo this has never been a problem as if they cook everything regularly in small batches sorta like how Ha VL does it It was a very good rendition at BCC, especially for Portland only 2nd to my mom's version (no seriously my mom's version is S tier). Lots of crab and other ingredients like quail eggs, mushrooms, and a very very good pork loaf "cha." The cha here is really really good and that's saying something bc it's not something I gravitate to. My suggestion if you're new to Pho Gabo whether you are a beginner or veteran of Viet food is to stretch past your comfort zone and try something you've never had or don't regularly order and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

After our last visit, I fear things have changed. The place still looks the same; clean and orderly but no art, no shrines, no decor whatsoever. Only the sight of busy cooks banging sizzling woks in the open kitchen and the smells of the dishes give the cuisine away. As we entered, everything looked as it always has. We were a bit surprised at the emptiness of the dining area. Early evenings are normally bustling with dine-in customers, and the phone constantly ringing for take-out. Besides us, there was only one other table occupied. The menu looked the same, but when we ordered some old time family favorites, they each were disappointing. Celery dominated the veggie dish, (Buddhist Delight) with no detectable asian spices and scant traces of the other veggies promised. The cashew chicken was more skin than meat, and minimal cashews. I don't know for certain, but I suspect the place has changed ownership, or management or both. If that's the case, it's a shame because the place really was a neighborhood gem for many years. We will likely give it another shot, but with so many fantastic Asian restaurants on the SE side, we won't be back for a spell.
