Lao Papaya Salad
Thuan H.

The food here is mouth-watering!! I cannot get over the Lao papaya salad here. The beef jerky, both Lao and Thai, are very tasty, they can be chewy but that's jerky. The chicken wings are to crave for! I don't know of a cart around the area or in Portland that has comparable wings and papaya salad. I am very picky about my papaya salad and this place doesn't miss. This cart has great hours for lunch and they're even open late for dinner. Anytime they give you a time estimate they're right on time. I recommend this place for anyone looking for their next Lao/Thai food adventure. It's a must try.

All I can say is wow this place is a must go to! It's around all different food trucks with outside seating. We have been trying to find Lao style papaya salad and how they make it was spot on. We also got the pepper salted chicken and it was cooked to perfection; with a nice crunch and tender juicy meat.

I can't believe I have lived around the corner from this place for years and only now have tried it! We ate before I could get pictures, but there was so much food left over you can hardly tell. We love thai food, and this is now our new favorite spot. We got Tom yum, pad thai, basil fried rice, popcorn chicken and thai papaya salad. Everything was amazing. We can't wait to try some other items we were eyeing!

This place is our all time favorite, everything about this place is so special to me and brings back flavors from my childhood, their Jeow is my favorite!! I can't find this flavor anywhere else. The service is great! The nam khao with Lao sausage together wow just wow!!! The Thai papaya salad with the jerky is top tier I can't stop raving about this place and not to mention we do not live here, we come from Seattle, Washington just to eat here!!

The BEST salt and pepper chicken wings!

THE BEST SALT AND PEPPER CHICKEN WINGS IN TOWN!!!! Formally Thai Dok Khem and they are back!!!! No one's salt and pepper wings can compare! Crunchy and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Try it yourself to see the hype! I suggest calling ahead for the wings because they do sell out. The wings come with rice, onions, jalapeños and a side of spicy dipping sauce.

I bought the cucumber salad, salt pepper shrimp, pork egg rolls, pad Thai and beef Larb. If you're American I can see why you think the food is good but from an Asian perspective this food is watered down to its core. Pork egg rolls was blend almost no flavor until you eat it with the dipping sauce. Salt and pepper shrimp should be called salty shrimp cause that's all you tasted was pure salt. The only thing that was semi enjoyable was the cumber salad. It had a little sour to it but had good flavors. The most important dish was the larb and boy did they really drop the ball. Looked great but there was little to no seasoning. For a place to have this on the menu and don't even have mint/ lime or rice powder in the dish is criminal. The worst larb configuration I've ever had. If you like boiled beef seasoned in its own juice and salt with a heavy slap of red onions then this is for you.

Uber Eats. Good packaging and portions. Taste good. Papaya salad 5chilis-spicy for my Thai tongue, all tasted good

Very tasty. My papaya salad asked for 5-chillis, very spicy, the way I like it. Ordered through Uber eats. Packaged nicely no spills or leaks even thai ice tea arrived in goos form

This place did not disappoint! We got the salt & pepper chicken wings, Thai sausage, and chicken fried rice. Let me tell you...EVERYTHING was good. Lots of flavor, especially the wings. It was nice and crispy/crunchy and had the perfect amount of saltiness. You don't need a mic to hear that crunch! Check them out because you will be glad you did. Can't wait to try the other items on the menu. Just FYI, we already started digging into the food before I took the pictures.

Everything on the menu is awesome! My favorites are the salt and pepper wings and shrimp! The sauce is stupid spicy and so damn addictive!
Wendy M.

We order their food once a week their food is that damn good. If you're looking for flavor or spice, you've got to give them a try. You can't go wrong with anything you order. My favorites are the salt and pepper wings and shrimp, papaya salad, larb, Tom yum, pumpkin curry, clear noodles. It's all delicious. I have more to try but I keep gravitating towards my favorites. Pepsi and Tony are the kindest people, they're so awesome! Check them out! @_wendys_world_

Chicken pad se ew
Heather K.

Delicious Thai and Lao favorites in a cute cart pod with great picnic area. Chicken pad se ew is delicious, definitely one of my favorite places to have it. Love the sausage fried rice, the flavor combination of the sausage with the fried rice is perfect. Thai tea was also yummy. Will be back soon for more tasty dishes to try!

We shared the cream cheese wontons, coconut curry with chicken spice level 2(which comes with rice), and the luc lac. Everything was deliciousss! The chicken in the curry broke apart so easily and the curry itself was very flavorful. Spice level 2 was perfect for a little kick, but not too much. The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. Previous visits have sometimes left us confused as if we ordered something different than a usual so i would say it is not too consistent but great if you catch it on a good day.

They took our drinks order and handed the drinks while we were in the line. Once we got to the register, we put in our food order and paid. The restaurant was semi self served. We got to our table few minutes after ordering. Guests also had the option to order to go and dine in the tent tables outside. The interior of the place was so stunning. There were dragon on walls, umbrellas in the ceiling, a huge full service bar. Our dishes came out within few minutes. We got the chicken skewers, chicken pho, chicken luc lac and steak rolls. We liked the small plate dishes, but the entree ones were disappointing. The chickens were chunky and dry, bland flavor. As much as we loved the vibe of the place, we didn't enjoy the food as much. The staff members were very joyful and friendly. They were explaining the process to every guest and keeping everyone informed on waiting time. During dining, they were also available to help.

** - A Taste of Home in the Heart of Portland**…read more After trekking across this great (and sometimes questionably flavored) nation, I've learned one thing: **nothing beats the taste of home**. And by home, I mean the fiery, fragrant, soul-warming flavors of Lao and Thai cuisine--the kind that makes you close your eyes and teleport straight back to family dinners where your aunties judged your rice-eating skills. Enter **this glorious food cart** in Portland--a beacon of hope in a city that sometimes thinks "spicy" means "lightly dusted with black pepper." The moment I heard the owner speak Lao, I knew I was in good hands. (Also, major bonus: I got to practice my native tongue, because if I don't, my grandma will *absolutely* call me out at the next family gathering.) Now, let's talk about the **larb**--oh, that beautiful, herbaceous, lime-kissed masterpiece. It's the kind of dish that makes you want to whisper *"sabai dee"* to yourself between bites. And if you skip the **fried sticky rice with mango** for dessert, we can't be friends. It's like eating golden clouds of happiness. Portland, you've got your artisanal donuts and kale smoothies, but *this*? This is the real deal. **10/10, would abandon my adventurer lifestyle to eat here every day.** Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go lie down in a food coma and dream of chilies.

Asian curries but, like all ingredients, it should not be pushed overboard. We ordered the Family Feast style meal and a single Khao Soi. The Khao Soi is too sweet for my taste for a curry soup noddle; perhaps, I am just not in tuned with Burmese curries. I'd much prefer Malaysian & Indonesian curries, where the curries are leaning towards more savory and do not taste like desserts. Even the other curries from the Family Feast were too sweet. I blame it on the overuse of coconut milk. Service: a single white waitress was serving, covering 4-6 tables, although the place wasn't very busy. She was courteous but goofed up a little when she accidentally spilled water on my thigh, although she apologized profusely. Ambiance: mostly low noise, people at each table spoke softly and are respectful of other people's pleasure in eating their foods. Lighting is soft and somewhat dim. Conclusion: would I return? Probably not on my own accord but it's OK if my folks want to eat there.

But when the lady in the food cart handed my order to me, she apologized because it was so hot. She handed me a tall plastic container stacked a carton of rice on top and gave me two napkins. The container was so hot to the touch that I thought I would drop it. I had a concert to go to at Moda but i tried cooling this down for 15 min. I thought it was cool enough but it wasn't. I was pretty hungry and took a bite and still burned my tongue because it was still scalding hot. I'm disappointed about that as I suffered the rest of my night at my event at Moda. However, the price was reasonable and the red curry was darn tasty, and it was a great portion size. It took about 20 min before it wasn't scalding hot but because it was a tall narrow container, it wasn't going to cool quickly. Why couldn't they have given a proper disposable bowl. That would have made it safer to eat and I probably wouldn't have burned my tongue. 20 min is a long time for food to cool down. I think this was a one off incident, but I want to post this to let the owner know, they shouldn't be serving scalding hot curry to their customers. Watch the temperature of your foods, please. I still loved the flavor so much that I will come back, hopefully when I don't have an event at Moda and hopefully it isn't scalding hot. I tried to take a pic of my dish but it came out blurry unfortunately as my smartphone camera was having issues, so sorry no pictures.
