Over on NE 82nd and Davis is a newer food pod called The Yard, with about 10-15 carts and it happens to be close to where I live. I've hit up a couple of the carts so far but Mira's wasn't usually open when I've been by. Comfort food. That's what my take on Somali food is. At least from what I ate, a dish called Baris and Maraq. A lamb and vegetable stew. On a side note: watch for bones. This stew was loaded with tomatoes, potatoes, green beans, carrots and plenty of lamb all slow cooked over rice. It was the suggestion of the woman running the cart. She said it was one of the most popular items on the menu. She was correct. The other favorite item on the menu was was a beef or chicken option in a dish called Suger. The stew came with two sauces, one a yogurt based sauce and the other, a red sauce, but it wasn't spicy. Nothing was, but it was very tasty. The stew is heavily based on the tomatoes, but you could taste everything. Well seasoned and the lamb was fall off the bone tender. There was also a small salad consisting of diced tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. Basically a palette cleanser. Similar to most Asian restaurants in town, there's enough food that you won't leave hungry. I can easily say that I want to explore more of this menu. I guess I'll see what she suggests next time. Every once in a while it's nice to try a new food that you've never even thought to try. I'm glad I did. Enjoy and support local.

It was super hot and fresh. I like both of my entrees extra hard even though my wings weren't to my liking this time around it still tasted really good. It was only two people working but, I was greeted immediately and I literally only waited for one minute. The cashier he was super nice and, he allowed me to order and, doubled checked my order and let me know exactly how long it would take to be prepared to go. Once my food was ready the cook bought my food out to me and made sure the bag was sealed tightly. It's a 4 out 5 stars because I like my food the way It's normally cooked and, seasoned well done! Wingstop is located on the corner of Powell at a very busy intersection. The store and dine-in area was very clean and there are 4-5 tables, seating at the door to wait for your order. There's a soda dispenser is located to left of the front door and a television (w/ music playing but, it's not too loud)! It's has a board to the right of all the different flavors of wings w/ full description and, an over head full menu! I highly recommend this location to dine in or to take you order to go!

I have always known Portland to be a mecca for food trucks and I have tried a couple and they did not disappoint. It was getting late in the evening and sun was still out and the temps were still on the warm side. There were about 4 other food trucks that were still open and serving food. next time I am in the area I will try the other ones. Firstly parking was a little difficult though I found one right in front of the main entrance. There was a sign that indicated that free parking was available across the street. There were a number of tables arranged in a small courtyard (including an interesting spaceship dining area) and a fire pit which I assume is used duing the colder winter months. Anyways I ordered the beef kebab over rice for $17.99. It took about 10 minutes for my order to appear (which was a to-go order) and I noticed the food was being made fresh in the back. The food in my opinion was quite good and everything tasted really nice. For the price it was a good amount of food however I wished they had thrown in a piece of flat bread for the nice hummus. I will definitely try out the other trucks the next time I am in the area.

They have some really nice varieties to choose from and food was delivered with no problem. The portions are ample for sure, but so are the toppings and proteins. They really didn't skimp on any of that. Cajun had a little kick, Street was sweet and spicy, and loaded was different than what I've had before, but definitely good. And the bacon on it was terrific. My partner wanted onion rings because they looked like the type he likes (they were) so I figured I'd also get some sweet potato fries to munch on since mac will reheat just fine (and it did). We ordered boneless wings and they're actually more like chicken tenders (just not quite as big). It meant more bang for your buck actually. We mistakenly ordered them with a dry rub because we do prefer them sauced. They had flavor but I just grabbed something from the fridge to dip and all was good. We would definitely order from here again.

The dude running the cart was nice and was happy to offer a suggestion Food was solid, with respectable portions. Lots of garlic in the garlic shrimp and the buffalo chicken mac had a good heat with nice crispy chicken. Main complaint was the noodles were too soft, and so become overcooked when reheated to make your dish. Not a deal breaker, but noteworthy. Definitely will go back to try the wings and some of the other macs

We did enjoy watching her and her young grandson. He was really cute. For starters, we got the shrimp and pork spring rolls. These were very fresh and delicious, probably some of the best I've had. We also had the fish sauce chicken wings. These had a slightly odd aftertaste. At first, I thought the chicken might be a bit old, but then it might be a spice in the marinade. We let a couple of them get cold and I liked them much better that way, maybe the heat brought out too much of the flavor of the marinade? I was not very happy with my entree. I got the first rice crepe on the menu, B1. It was topped with sliced chicken that seemed almost processed, sort of like deli meat. Beneath this was rice crepes filled with ground pork and some type of green veggie. The flavor was okay, but the crepes had a really slimy texture. Definitely not my thing at all. I did enjoy the bean sprouts, cilantro and cucumber on the side. The veggies were very fresh and made for a tasty salad with some of the dipping sauce poured over them. My friend had the yellow curry bowl, which was pretty much a soup. I tasted it and it was just okay for me. I could tell it had coconut milk in it which adds a sweet taste I don't care for. The spice level was perfect, though, a bit of a kick but not too hot. By the time we left, a few regulars appeared to be pouring in. This place has a lot of great reviews, I'd be willing to try it again. I need to look over the reviews and see what others are ordering. But I can't give four or five stars until I've had something tastier.

Hanoi Kitchen Is A Comfort Food That Feels Like Home!…read more As of 7/21/2025, NEW BUSINESS HOURS POSTED ON THEIR FRONT DOOR Friday to Monday: 10am-3pm, Reopen 5pm-8pm Closed: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (Per their website, these new hours started March 2025) This summer's obsession of mine with Bánh Cuốn continuing back to Portland after a weekend of indulgence in Westminster and Garden Grove, CA. That led me to finally try Hanoi Kitchen, even though I've driven past it for the last four years. I called ahead early Friday afternoon (7/21/2025) and asked them to save me one order of Bánh Cuốn. They confirmed it's made in the morning and reheated per order, but assured me it would still taste fresh and not turn chewy. They were right. What we ordered (Party of 3): -1 Bánh Cuốn - $14 -Combo A: Cá Bông Lau Kho Tộ & Canh Chua Tôm - $18 -Combo B: Sườn Ram Me & Canh Khoai Tây - $18 -1 Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá) - $7 -1 Dozen Organic Eggs (boxed & refrigerated) - $6 Total: $64 Food quality: -Bánh Cuốn: Soft and tender as promised. The chả lụa (Vietnamese pork roll) was a bit softer than I prefer, and the fish sauce was decent but didn't stand out. Still, it hit the spot though I had better. -Combo A: The catfish came with one skinless and filleted instead of the usual bone-in round cuts, so the depth of flavor was slightly lacking. The canh chua tôm (hot & sour prawn soup) was light (lạt), missing the tangy punch I hoped for. Celery was used in place of bạc hà (Vietnamese taro stem), which I understood, but missed. -Combo B: Sườn ram me (tamarind pork) was a solid comfort dish. The accompanying canh khoai tây (potato soup) had good intention but used lean pork chunks; I'd prefer bones or short ribs for better texture and broth depth. -Cà phê sữa đá: Slow-drip style, just like home, but could've used a stronger brew and a better condensed milk-to-coffee ratio. Still appreciated the authenticity. -Organic Eggs: Easy grab-and-go, already boxed and chilled. Great price at $6/dozen. Ambiance: A true mom-and-pop/small family owned feel. While waiting, we heard our meal being made fresh in the kitchen, like being in someone's home. There was one dine-in guest as we arrived, and two takeout orders came through while we waited. Plenty of free street parking on NE Glisan, plus their own lot in back. The décor is dated, inside and out. It's a slightly rougher neighborhood, so I get why the hours are limited. Restroom note: Ladies' room had no toilet seat covers, so I took one from the gentlemen's side since we were the only ones there. Cleanliness-wise, it was fine. Overall: This was honest, humble Vietnamese home cooking, just the way you'd expect from a family kitchen. Nothing fancy, but comforting, familiar, and homeyness. It satisfied our cravings for exactly what we ordered, and we'll absolutely be back for a repeat when the mood strikes.
