Hot tea and pho as far as the eye can see
Joseph M.

The good. First and most importantly, the Pho. The broth is freshly made, hot, flavorful and plentiful. The sheets of beef cooked as expected in the broth, as the noodles softened. Ample amount of meat, bean sprouts, non-Thai Basel, jalapeño slices, and lime. The not as good. The broth was a little greasy. The bowl was a little light on noodles, the to-go container is a bit small and the table was light on napkins, because putting the Togo food in a container was messy. The lady at the counter was super nice, and very attentive of her customers. I thought the restaurant was decorated brightly. The place was clean and well maintained.

We came here looking for Pho, and this place is perfect! This restaurant does one thing, and one thing exceptionally well and that is Pho. They have about 50 varieties of Pho meats to go into your soup, but it is truly a focus on Pho. The soup is incredibly flavorful, stuffed with meat, noodles, green onions, and sprouts. I would have like more spice, but I tend to like spicy, and this was lighter. But that can be fixed with more sriracha! The meat was tender, broth full flavored, and there was so much of the soup, I even overfilled my take home container lol. The restaurant is small, but we did not have to wait when we came in around lunch. Food came out quickly, and our service was great, she wasn't chatty, but I didn't need that. Vietnamese music videos were being played inside, the decoration was bright and verdant, and the space was clean and lovely. You do have to pay for a take home container .50 cents and if you do not eat a lot then the container cannot hold your leftovers, but is that a complaint or a statement as to how much food they give you?! Great Pho, we will be back.

This restaurant only sells pho with many variations of protein added. I want to say that each menu item (noodles, soup, etc) is literally the same except for the protein. The portion size are very big and they serve a lot of noodles in each bowl. The broth is .... interesting. It's not terrible, but it definitely wasn't the best I've had. It doesn't feel as dimensional and deep as other pho soups I've had. I found it weird that they had no prices on their menu. We had to ask for it. They all cost the same, except for the special. Parking was easy. The inside looks a bit outdated and old. When we went around 5PM on the weekend, we were the only customers. I personally would not recommend, but it's fine to eat if you're looking for a quick place to fill your stomach. 3/5

The broth here is a lot "cleaner" than other pho restaurants, however, they use a lot of oil. There are only 3 pho places in Portland I'd actually recommend, and this is still one of them. It tasted authentic and not super heavy on artificial ingredients that some restaurants I know of use.

Ohhh man, I do not like doing less than great reviews. In fact I sat on this for a while but in the end here I am, two whole stars for a place that did the absolute basic for a bowl of soup. Look, it's COVID year and restaurants are struggling. This place relocated from the west side to a new Asian shopping center in FoPo with hopes of a fresh start. Sadly, they moved into a neighborhood with some of the best pho in the city, priced themselves over the competition and failed to keep up with their would-be peers. The main thing is their broth was okay, not great, and I didn't receive the proteins I ordered. Broth was light and lacking oomph and spices. I went traditional and got eye of round and brisket. I only received the round steak sliced thin. Maybe they were out, I'll never know nothing as was said to me. Maybe i got a bigger portion of one protein or I got a half portion because they forgot. Again no clue. In the end for one hour at minimum wage to afford a bowl of soup you can do better than this place. And look up their left behind legacy using the same name on Yelp. This is one of those high rated places that won't live up to the hype.

P2. Well done flank and fatty brisket.

Probably one of the best Pho Ga in the area. Broth is tasty with the spices and the chicken is cooked perfect.

It's definitely a nice spot for dinner. The service was great, and our food came out pretty quickly. You order at the counter first, and they give you a number to take to your table. There's complimentary water and utensils available on the side, which makes everything pretty convenient. You can also choose to sit inside, outside, or get your food to go. We ordered the pho with steak and brisket, and it was delicious! We also got the vermicelli with pork, which had a lot of flavor. The portions are pretty generous, so the vermicelli would be great to share. Overall, we had a great experience at Luc Lac. Let me tell you, if they had this place in Seattle, it would be poppin' for sure. Loved the decor, and the service was amazing. We were a party of 8, and they did the most to get us seated. They even combined two tables for us without too much wait. We appreciated this so much! This is one of those places where you order at the counter, and they bring your food to your table, although they also seat you. So you wait in line to order, and then you wait a little longer to get a seat. The menu is on a huge, lit-up billboard behind the counter, so you'll see folks crowded in that area trying to read it. The food was alright, no one was particularly blown away. I got a pho, and I would say it was okay. I think you come here more for the vibe and scratching that craving than for out-of-this-world food/flavors. The music is good, the servers were all super friendly, and it's a great vibe. Fyi, there's mostly street parking.

An order of spring rolls were also ordered, but wasn't in the photo. It was ordered with crispy pork belly. Based on some reviews, I was skeptical about ordering the pork belly, but I was pleasantly surprised. The skin was very crispy and you could hear the crunch from across the restaurant. The restaurant is very open with big windows, but I liked the concept of the open kitchen look. The service was really good. We ended up ordering pork belly and shrimp for our spring rolls and the worker politely came by and told us they were out of it. He was able to accommodate for it and was very kind about it. Steamed broccoli was a fresh addition, and the side broth hit the spot. * The Pork Chops with Shredded Pork Skin (Bì) & Egg Meatloaf (Chả Trứng) plate was decent, though a bit average compared to other spots nearby. The flavors were fine, but nothing particularly stood out. * Noodle Soup: The spicy beef noodle soup had a rich, deep color and a generous amount of fresh herbs and onions, though the broth lacked a bit of the punch and depth of flavor I was hoping for. Overall: It's a convenient neighborhood option with generous portions and fast service, but given the quality of Vietnamese food along Powell and 82nd, it lands right in the middle for me. Good, but not quite a standout.
