Oc len xao dua (coconut stir-fry snails)
    Vy N.

The restaurant is in a small plaza -- parking's tight, but early or late arrival helps! Their Oc len xao dua is amazing! Ngheu hap Thai was bland, and So diep nuong wasn't fresh (frozen?). Skip the seafood hotpot; it's just watery chicken broth.

The service was excellent! Friendly and recommends foods to your desire. The setting is also spacious and plenty of utensils to go around. The portions are also good to share for a small group up to 4 people. Will come back to nhau!

Grilled pen shell scallop. Super rubbery and tastes freezer burnt. Not fresh at all.

The service here was great especially since they are understaffed. There is usually one man running around and taking orders. I have so much respect for his work ethic. I hate to have to rate this place so low but our experience with the food here was absolutely not worth it. Ambiance is sports bar vibes with Vietnamese mtv playing on the TVs. It's clean. The food here is abysmal. I think it definitely caters more to the late night drinking type of clientele who doesn't care much about what they are eating because they faded and the taste buds are gone. For a place called oc house (literally translates to shellfish house) they don't prep the seafood (shellfish) well at all. We got the grilled pen scallop and it was overcooked and rubbery. Reminded me of freezer burn cooked shellfish. The lemon pepper sauce they serve with it is good though. The shellfish here is not fresh at all. The pepper salted squid was ok but not great, super bland and small portioned for what you get for it almost being $20. We also ordered the lotus salad which in traditional Vietnamese cuisine the sweet and spicy fish sauce that's drizzled over it is aromatic and garlicky. The fish sauce served with this was not savory and sweet but just watered down fish sauce, it made the dish very stale and salty. And for some reason our dish tasted like crab even though this dish only has boiled shrimp, pork belly slices, and lotus root. This was a strange one to see them mess up. The banh canh cua (thick crab udon) was super disappointing as the broth was very flavorless but also super rank (not the good kind). It tasted like ketchup broth. There was also a giant frozen freezer burn disc of what looked like crab meat in the bottom of my bowl. This bowl of noodle was serviced with thinly sliced beef which was meh. I likely won't return, I really hope the owners hire a better chef because the one they have currently now isn't good. Or if they are cutting corners with quality in the food it definitely shows. I had super high hopes for this place but I'll stay to Powell's seafood for now.

Food was decent and our server seemed like a sweet hard working man. He was very polite and attentive! Location and parking kinda strange but not too hard to find parking. We arrived when it was not too busy but I noticed all customers were Vietnamese so we took it a good sign. Food was pretty great and we love all the sauce provided except for the hot sauce! Not a fan of the coconut snails and Pha Lau Bo, there's basically nothing else but tripes lol tasted kinda bland but tamarind sauce was very good. Will be back if we're in town.

This place is a hidden gem! It's tucked in a small corner. The owners are super nice and attentive. The food as excellent! We ordered 3-4 dishes of each item to share amongst a dozen of us. Because it is a smaller scale restaurant, it can get loud when all tables are full.

pricey and portion size is not a lot but it is fresh and only place in Portland so far that serves razor clams (the ones that are like razor blades). Ample parking. it is across the street from Eastport Plaza. Great interior and large tables for hosting huge amount of guest and chill vibes. They are very busy so service can vary slow and they don't really check on you again after food is delivered. Flavorful and fresh seafood. would come again but be prepare to spend as it gets pricey.

This place is a go-to now! There is no spot that does Vietnamese seafood and drinking food like Oc House. Super fast service, lots of variety, and always delicious food. Highly recommend coming here with friends.

The best place for viet bar food/ shellfish! Everything is cooked with so much flavor.

Food was delicious, customer service beyond excellent, restaurant was clean, very welcoming as was the owners, servers. It's a restaurant and lounge with karaoke. Best food experience yet in Portland; theyre open 3pm-12am. We met some nice people karaoking it was such a friendly and down to earth chill restaurant.

This place is definitely on the more "delicacy" side of Vietnamese dishes. You won't find the traditional Pho and Vermicelli bowls here. They have escargot, clams, squid, etc. The food comes out hot and ready when ordered. The service was quick as long as you grab their attention. The portions itself were fairly small for the price. Some of their seafood dishes, you can taste that they were frozen and then reheated/steamed as you order (not as fresh). The place itself feels like a Vietnamese bar. There's Vietnamese music playing, fairly open, but a little dark. I don't have any complaints about it though, I think it fits the vibe.

    Grilled scallops
    Kitty C.

Was super excited to try this place with our family. I came for the seafood but others did not. For seafood we ordered: grilled scallops, grilled squid, balut egg, Razor clams, and snails. For entrees we ordered: crispy noodles, fried rice, shaken beef, fish in clay pot, and beef and macaroni Every dish looked appetizing but they definitely take more care with their seafood. The seafood dishes taste and attention to toppings and sides which is the star of this place but sad to say anything else was just bland. While the fried rice was decently crispy, the flavor just wasn't there. Not everyone in our party was happy with their meal. And service was slow even when there was our party and a couple of others there. Come for the seafood definitely! Just don't order the salt and pepper squid. It was so sweet.

My go to spot for grilled squid and shaken beef! Their combination fried rice is also another favorite of mine. The food is consistently good and never disappoints. Good comfort food! Great place to go with a lot of people so you can order family style to try a variety of dishes.

Downtown Portland's hidden gem for authentic Vietnamese!…read more I was walking around downtown Portland and stumbled upon Cuốn Vietnamese Street Food, and honestly, it was the best meal of my week . If you are looking for fresh, flavorful, and satisfying comfort food, do not walk--run to this spot. To get the full experience, we ordered a variety, and every single item was a hit. We started with the Beef Pho, and the broth was the absolute star. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply savory, clearly simmered for hours. It was the perfect dish on a sunny Portland day. We also grabbed a Chicken Banh Mi. The bread had that perfect crispy crust with a soft, airy crumb, and the chicken was grilled to perfection with fresh veggies and herbs. Of course, we had to wash it all down with a creamy, sweet Thai Tea--it was delicious and the perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. It's a super clean, casual spot with big windows letting in lots of natural light. It's set up for quick counter service, which makes it perfect for a fast lunch downtown, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel right at home. It's a family-run business, and you can taste the passion in the food. Highlights: · The Pho Broth: Seriously some of the best in the city. · The Banh Mi: Fresh bread, great fillings. · The Service: Fast, efficient, and incredibly kind. Pro Tip: Don't forget to grab your own utensils and sauces (the chili crisp is a must for the pho), and help yourself to the free self-serve hot tea. It's the little touches like that which make this place a winner. I am already planning my next trip back to try the Crispy Pork Belly. Highly recommend

Positives: fresh, well made, very flavorful proteins. Cons:…read morePrice I tried Cuon for the first time and enjoyed it. I went for a Vermicelli bowl where you get to pick 2 proteins. I selected Pork Belly (their specialty) and lemongrass chicken. The bowl itself is standard Vietnamese fare, nothing special, creative or exciting in that sense. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh and the proteins were very well seasoned and cooked. The pork belly skin had an awesome crunch and you can clearly taste the lemongrass in the chicken. The included spring roll had nice crunch but little flavor. Unfortunately, outside of Pho, Banh Mi and Noodle Bowls, there's sadly not much else to the menu. No Vietnamese salads, stir frys, etc. Either way, what they do make, they seem to make quite well. So, on to my main issue ie, that for a place thats only open for lunch, the prices are a bit too high. I noted about $16 for a Banh Mi sandwich, no sides. Pho was around $20 and my noodle bowl was about $20 as well. Weirdly, its about the same prices as eating lunch back home in Miami, a FAR more expensive city in general. In fact, I've often had more exciting Vietnamese in Manhattan for lower prices. So while its easy to recommend Cuon on quality, its not a top recommendation for lunch value in the PDX which is why Im docking 1 star.
