We are a group of 6 has dinner at Oc house on September 2026. We ordered: grill squid, shrimp salad, butter razor clam, salt and pepper shrimp, chicken feet, kho quet com cháy, and drinks : durian smoothy, avocado, and tamarin. All dishes are excellent and super tasty, so good that we ask for second order. Service are speedy fast, very attentive, above and beyond of being good and nice, we even got a free drink desert and honest food recommendation. We definitely going back to visit.
Our group of 3 came in around 5:30 pm on a Friday evening. My dad had just flown in and had been looking for a place to get Vietnamese escargot for forever, so he was so excited when I brought him here. It's a small plaza but there was plenty of parking. We were greeted quickly and sat in one of many booths. Service was quick. The man working was very helpful and brought us everything my dad asked for right away! We ordered the escargot, of course, and although it doesn't compare to the ones he had in Vietnam (he claims it would need more lemongrass), it was still really great! Love the coconut flavour so much. You also get so much of it! The oysters were huge. I feel like they were a bit dry but the crunchy peanuts and garlic on top were great. The salt and pepper squid was very crispy and unique. Absolutely loved the flavour! The star of the show was the hot pot. We ordered the sweet and sour (canh chua) with catfish. Such a nostalgic dish and I loved the way they prepared it (more sweet). It came with noodles, vegetables, and too much fish for us (which we took home). Highly recommend this little gem! Such unique dishes you don't get just anywhere.
The restaurant is in a small plaza -- parking's tight, but early or late arrival helps! Their Oc len xao dua is amazing! Ngheu hap Thai was bland, and So diep nuong wasn't fresh (frozen?). Skip the seafood hotpot; it's just watery chicken broth.
The service was excellent! Friendly and recommends foods to your desire. The setting is also spacious and plenty of utensils to go around. The portions are also good to share for a small group up to 4 people. Will come back to nhau!
The service here was great especially since they are understaffed. There is usually one man running around and taking orders. I have so much respect for his work ethic. I hate to have to rate this place so low but our experience with the food here was absolutely not worth it. Ambiance is sports bar vibes with Vietnamese mtv playing on the TVs. It's clean. The food here is abysmal. I think it definitely caters more to the late night drinking type of clientele who doesn't care much about what they are eating because they faded and the taste buds are gone. For a place called oc house (literally translates to shellfish house) they don't prep the seafood (shellfish) well at all. We got the grilled pen scallop and it was overcooked and rubbery. Reminded me of freezer burn cooked shellfish. The lemon pepper sauce they serve with it is good though. The shellfish here is not fresh at all. The pepper salted squid was ok but not great, super bland and small portioned for what you get for it almost being $20. We also ordered the lotus salad which in traditional Vietnamese cuisine the sweet and spicy fish sauce that's drizzled over it is aromatic and garlicky. The fish sauce served with this was not savory and sweet but just watered down fish sauce, it made the dish very stale and salty. And for some reason our dish tasted like crab even though this dish only has boiled shrimp, pork belly slices, and lotus root. This was a strange one to see them mess up. The banh canh cua (thick crab udon) was super disappointing as the broth was very flavorless but also super rank (not the good kind). It tasted like ketchup broth. There was also a giant frozen freezer burn disc of what looked like crab meat in the bottom of my bowl. This bowl of noodle was serviced with thinly sliced beef which was meh. I likely won't return, I really hope the owners hire a better chef because the one they have currently now isn't good. Or if they are cutting corners with quality in the food it definitely shows. I had super high hopes for this place but I'll stay to Powell's seafood for now.

We arrived when it was not too busy but I noticed all customers were Vietnamese so we took it a good sign. Food was pretty great and we love all the sauce provided except for the hot sauce! Not a fan of the coconut snails and Pha Lau Bo, there's basically nothing else but tripes lol tasted kinda bland but tamarind sauce was very good. Will be back if we're in town.

This place is a hidden gem! It's tucked in a small corner. The owners are super nice and attentive. The food as excellent! We ordered 3-4 dishes of each item to share amongst a dozen of us. Because it is a smaller scale restaurant, it can get loud when all tables are full.
This place is a go-to now! There is no spot that does Vietnamese seafood and drinking food like Oc House. Super fast service, lots of variety, and always delicious food. Highly recommend coming here with friends.
This place is definitely on the more "delicacy" side of Vietnamese dishes. You won't find the traditional Pho and Vermicelli bowls here. They have escargot, clams, squid, etc. The food comes out hot and ready when ordered. The service was quick as long as you grab their attention. The portions itself were fairly small for the price. Some of their seafood dishes, you can taste that they were frozen and then reheated/steamed as you order (not as fresh). The place itself feels like a Vietnamese bar. There's Vietnamese music playing, fairly open, but a little dark. I don't have any complaints about it though, I think it fits the vibe.

This was a very good Vietnamese seafood place! The seafood was very fresh and well seasoned. I love the clams the most! I'm big on clams and the clam dish we got was great! Banh canh was good, the broth had great flavors! Lots of parking here! read more
this place has a small parking lot and it shares the lot with a few businesses so it can get crowded. the space is nice and modern with plenty of booth seating. the food is good but the service was very slow. no other customers were in the restaurant but it took forever for some of the food, especially the hotpot, to come. the appetizers also came very slowly and not all at once. if they could improve on this the experience would be better read more

Was super excited to try this place with our family. I came for the seafood but others did not. For seafood we ordered: grilled scallops, grilled squid, balut egg, Razor clams, and snails. For entrees we ordered: crispy noodles, fried rice, shaken beef, fish in clay pot, and beef and macaroni Every dish looked appetizing but they definitely take more care with their seafood. The seafood dishes taste and attention to toppings and sides which is the star of this place but sad to say anything else was just bland. While the fried rice was decently crispy, the flavor just wasn't there. Not everyone in our party was happy with their meal. And service was slow even when there was our party and a couple of others there. Come for the seafood definitely! Just don't order the salt and pepper squid. It was so sweet. read more

Food was delicious, customer service beyond excellent, restaurant was clean, very welcoming as was the owners, servers. It's a restaurant and lounge with karaoke. Best food experience yet in Portland; theyre open 3pm-12am. We met some nice people karaoking it was such a friendly and down to earth chill restaurant. read more

My go to spot for grilled squid and shaken beef! Their combination fried rice is also another favorite of mine. The food is consistently good and never disappoints. Good comfort food! Great place to go with a lot of people so you can order family style to try a variety of dishes. read more

This is my fav comfort food restaurant. We tried the. Catfish sour and sweet soup which was good but we don't get it often . We usually always get crunchy gravy seafood noodles and surf clam and razor clam which is sooo good with extra green sauce . My family loves this place... like any true Vietnamese family would haha. This spot is a great spot for those that want an authentic "drinking" meal AKA most of the dishes here you would find at a family party that engages in too much alcohol consumption and wants something tasty to accompany the drinking. Don't expect to come here for exceptional service - you will most likely have to flag down a server if you want attention. On to the food! All the dishes here are made to order so yes, you will experience a wait time but with any seafood dish, fresh is better than frozen. Which is also a downside because often times they won't have a dish in stock because it's not "in season" but trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed with the items that they do have available. My favorite here is the grilled squid - the green dipping chili sauce it comes with is bomb! The squid is so tender as well and I love the charred flavor on it. Really can't go wrong with any of the seafood dishes as well, although sometimes they come a bit sandy which is annoying. The hotpots are also a good deal - you get your bang for your buck and it is definitely a dish for 2+ people (depending on what other dishes you get beforehand). read more
Came here on a Sunday evening around 6pm. We were seated quickly. There were a lot of kids running around the restaurant, which was a bit off-putting. To make matters worse, they were out of a lot of things on their menu. This ruined the excitement as we had to scramble and choose new dishes to order while the waiter tried to remember what was still available. Overall, the dining experience was okay. Portion sizes were good. The grilled clam, mussels, and squid weren't terrible. I liked the crispy onions served with the seafood. These were my favorite dishes of the night. The green seafood dipping sauce was actually quite good. The combination fried rice and baby clam stir fry were lackluster and bland - I don't recommend them. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, especially since the availability of the menu is so unreliable. However, if you're looking to try something new that isn't widely offered in Portland, this is a decent place to go! Just keep your fingers crossed that most of the seafood for which they're known for is available. read more

Oc house was pretty decent, would I go again? No. First of, they have very limited number of foods. And some of them aren't even available to order due to low supply. This was at 6 pm. It's early dinners. Second, I think the food here tasted okay. There is flavor but not that much flavor. Food are a bit cold when they bring it out as well. Overall, I think if you crave seafood really badly. This is a place for you but if you just want to have a good dinner. I would rethink it a bit. read more

Family friendly place. All the foods we ordered were tasty! Did family style dining so you all can get a taste of each dish. Definitely a go to spot for us as the grilled squid is not an option at many restaurants. Its so delicious with their special cilantro sauce that puts an exploding flavorful taste to your squid as a dipping sauce. Kid you not, my hubs and I were here 4 times and the squid was sold out. So what did we do this time? We ordered two plates when we walked into the door! :) The avocado smoothie is delicious as well! Great for big groups! I gotta try their hot pot next time! If it is busy service can get a bit inconsistent so be sure to have patience. Overall, we had a great experience this time around! read more

Oc has always been my one of my beloved Vietnamese street food. It's nothing but bizarre food on a plate. My family and I came to Oc house for the first time trying a variety of different oc dishes and soup. We wanted to try oysters, octopus, and blood clam but many items were out due to busy weekend. Many of the dishes were very bland to me. Just the same note. Tamarind sauce is sweet to me and not very much on the tart or savory note. We ordered Vietnamese sour soup catfish but it was very bland like a plain broth rather than soup. Only slightly sweet and a hint of tart of tamarind is all I could tasted. Most oc n the catfish for sour soup doesn't taste fresh, mostly previously frozen seafood. The quail was also very dry and chewy. The best tasting dish for me would probably be obtuse horn shell steamed in coconut. I'd give their food 2.5/5. Service is also mediocre. Very slow for a non busy place snd didn't received much helped. 2/5 I ordered a lychee cocktail. It was yummy tasting. Just the right amount of liquor for a fruit cocktail with lychee fruits. I'm sure their other drinks are just as good! Good place to go if you're craving oc or wanting to try something exotic! This is the place for it! We went here for dinner after a long day of tax-free shopping. We were curious to try out this place to see how it compares. This place's Oc dishes were reasonably priced. We ordered the coconut snails, they were tiny and hard to get them out of the shell. They did cut the ends of the shell to make it easier to suck. But a lot of work for very little meat. The canh ga chien nuoc mam is kinda pricey. Who would expect that fried chicken fish sauce cost would be equivalent to the Oc, but you're not here for the chicken. The green sauce tasted a little bit off. It didn't bring that oomph factor to complement the seafood. read more

parents got this as takeout for me. Ốc house is only place in Portland that seeks Viet street and nhau food but apparently underneath new management have now limited the menu even more :'( despite this, the food was still good!! read more
This isn't your typical Vietnamese restaurant: there's no Pho, Cha Gio, or any of the usual rice combos. Seafood seems to be the focus, dishes scream "authentic", and the overall menu is a pleasant surprise of the unfamiliar. There's an eye for presentation as all our entrees were delivered with some flare. The clams were good, the sauces even better (especially the green one.) Scallops were equally full of flavor. Their version of my favorite Vietnamese dish, Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef) was a little tough, but the sauce was good and portion ample. It's difficult to top Bluefin Bar & Grill's version of this scrumptious beef. I was eager to try their avocado smoothie or smashed avocado smoothie (not sure about the difference), but had to settle for fresh mango as they were out. Seafood portions are small, service speed and friendliness about normal, parking easy, and the atmosphere is understated. I'm an "Americanized" Vietnamese food fan, the offerings here are a bit too real, but I'm sure they will earn their raving fans. read more

Oc House is very delicious. I gave it a 4 stars because the service is ok, and the food takes a really long time to arrive. Especially when it's busy. The past few times I came here, I was also very disappointed with their salt and pepper calamari. I felt like I was given crumbs of someone else's order. Aside from the few things, I'm not thrilled about ... the food is very delicious, and very unique. The sauce that comes with the order is very tasty. read more
