I stopped by on my lunch break nearby and was helped immediately and allowed to order very quickly and food was out in less than 3 minutes even though the restaurant was bustling. The workers are very kind and heartfelt. I got a combination pho that included tripe, beef shanks, and meatballs and I just took off some points because I only had 1 meatball in my pho. Overall great experience and I will be back!

Wife came here before for a banh mi (big) and we decided to try dinner due to some interesting dish pictures on the wall. Language was an issue but just means I need to hone my viet skills. Hu Tieu/Pork Noodles - dry egg and rice noodles with soup on the side. Very good and not the easiest dish to find! Ga Len Mam - chicken on a plate. I loved it. Excellent presentation and chicken was amazing. They stay busy and I can get why. I think the language makes it hard for some customers, and led to some poorer reviews. Also Ga means chicken and Bo means cow. Look at the logo lol

Walked into a full restaurant where everyone was excitedly eating their food. The menu was amazing. A range of items for all palates. My toddler was excitedly picking one thing from each page. Her eyes were obviously bigger than her tummy. I ended up picking the pork noodles with both tapioca and rice noodles, kiddo got the lemongrass grilled chicken rice plate, A got the jumping beef with rice, and also got avocado and mango smoothies. Our party also got three types of rolls (salad and fried). A couple folx got the crab noodles and that looked soo good! Not me with order envy. Everything was so good! Amazingly flavorful broth, perfectly grilled chicken, and a sizzling beef plate with runny egg yolks. The toddler ate a couple salad rolls too! Love the cute lanterns strung up and the kiddos loved the little fish tank. The service was fast, efficient, and friendly. Crab noodle soup! I'm coming back for you next time. Please come support this amazing local business. They recently closed their Portland location due to inequitable fines they were unable to afford. Not only is the owner a humble and kind person. The food is soo good and worth the visit.

At first site of the menu, I didn't understand the high prices but good lord, the portions here are HUGE! My partner and I shared a large bowl of brisket pho and we had enough left over for dinner that night as well. We also ordered crab Rangoon and the grilled chicken salad rolls with peanut sauce. My partner proclaimed that the crab Rangoon was the best she's ever had and I can vouch that the spring rolls were absolutely amazing and perfectly paired with the peanut sauce. An absolute great spot to share your meal or even just have a hearty meal to yourself. Service was lightening fast as well! Highly recommend

If you're looking for Vietnamese food beyond Pho, this place is it. I got the bun rieu which is a crab forward soup! It was delicious. Rich broth, chunks of crab/pork meatballs, lemongrass stalks pressed throughout. Loved the plate of fresh veggies to go on the soup and bouncy tofu. We got an avocado and durian shake to go. We were so full, I had to take half the soup home and it heated well as leftovers. Service was quick and friendly here. Support this family owned business!

Definitely one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Walked into a lot of patrons enjoying their meal. Beautiful lanterns hanging. Very friendly service. We met the owner who was so nice to talk to. Great bowl of pho tai and nam. Tried the fried pork spring rolls which were great. Great lunch spot for someone craving the real deal.

I've been patiently waiting for this Pho Gabo location to open. It's now here and I am beyond elated. Opening week is 20% off as well. My Pho Gabo To-go order: -Filet mignon pho w/ extra meatballs -Pho with well done brisket & well done flank (pho chin & nam) Tip, If you're getting your pho to go... ask for them to please keep noodles uncooked, then when you get home, dip them in boiling water to your liking and then drain. Reheat your pro broth on the stove and then pour over your pho noodles. -Grilled pork salad rolls The Bo Kho, Vermicelli Bowls, Rice Plates, Viet Coffee, and Special Platters are also delicious. Go support! Yum. So glad they're in Happy Valley now.

If you like bugs then I'd highly recommend this place for your fix. Nice and juicy. Honestly the pho wasn't great either and the service was kind of rude. Not sure what's with the good reviews.

Decided to pop in and try their pho. We ordered the pho chin and pho tai as well as egg rolls. The service asked if we wanted tea and water and we asked for both. The hot tea was good, very comforting on a cold, rainy night and a little precursor of what was to come. The pho was really good. Both cuts of meats were very tender and flavorful. The egg rolls were crispy, hot, and delicious. Service was great!

Friendly and quick service. Clean restaurant. Broth was clean and flavorful. One complaint is I couldn't order a small veggie pho, so I had to get the regular and was too full to finish it.

I have not tried the other locations, but I'd imagine taste-wise, things should be exactly the same. I am so happy about the location of this place as there is no good or even decent Vietnamese restaurants in the Happy Valley area (in my opinion). Their chicken pho broth is really good, and I typically do not order chicken pho. Get their salad rolls, they are the best I've had at any restaurant in Portland!

Been waiting for this location to open for awhile and now they are finally open! Great service with delicious food. I been wanting to try their jumping beef over egg dish and it did not disappoint! The dish hit the spot and was so good. I will be back for it! You can't find that dish at many Vietnamese restaurants. The dish comes with your choice of bread or rice. I chose the bread and it went really well with the dish.

Brisket was not very soft. Mongolian Beef Chow Mein - there was a puddle of sauce at the bottom of the bowl, which I would not expect for chow mein. Definitely not cooked in a wok (or done very poorly). Handmade spicy pork wontons - also not flavorful. If they used the chili oil on the Beef in Chili dish, this might taste better. Came in on weekend for lunch and it was definitely a 40 min wait, but then literally no one on a Tuesday night for dinner. Somehow, the time for the food to come out was about the same. You get a few that come out quick, then a few that took long enough for me to notice it, and then always a few where you wonder if they forgot your dish. Even when there was no one else in the restaurant. The XLB and pot stickers are all super solid, not quite Ding Tai Fung quality, but at these prices and wait times they are great. Qbao's are delicious. I think the noodles are honestly slept on. They all have great flavor, super bouncy noodles, and honestly come in a size that you can easily finish on your own or still big enough to split in case you wanted to try another flavor. I also think the pork wonton's with chili sauce are also super slept on, the sauce is oddly sweet, but honestly I love that. Service here can be hit or miss. They don't really do a each table gets a specific server system, at least that hasn't been my experience. You'll get some food runners, and you can usually just flag anyone down to get what you need. But it does mean things can slip through the cracks if you don't have one person keeping an eye on the list of food ordered for the table or you have multiple servers checking in on you to see if you got all your food even though you just told the server 3 min ago you were still missing something. All in all, this place is phenomenal and approachable. I will be back, maybe not on the weekends though, it's not quite worth all that.

Likely not visiting this location again... I was driving my…read moreson home from surgery and needed to grab food for the family after being at the hospital all morning. As I entered, the guy working the register apologized for being on his phone and put it away to help me. Very nice. I placed my order and he was very kind & patient. The 3 ladies standing in the prep kitchen continued with their very loud, all Spanish conversation, not really appearing to move to prepare any food (including for the two customers who entered after me). I don't care that it was Spanish, just that their conversation seemed to supercede the need to do their job in that moment... So, I took my waters & treats out to my family & returned for the entrees I ordered. As I re-entered, one customer left with an order, another sat at a table waiting for his order, and a to-go order remained on the counter. While I was waiting, the guy walked over & offered me the to-go order on the counter "if I wanted it because the customer canceled their order after the food was made and it would just have to be thrown out, unless someone wanted to take it." He did warn me that it had been sitting out for about 40 min so if I agreed to take it I should heat it well to be on the safe side. So I said sure. One of the ladies from the chatting trio had starting preparing some food, finished the order of the gentleman who ordered after me & then continued with my order. In the meantime, a manager, or assistant manager appeared from the back and was informed that I would be taking the abandoned to-go order. They approached and said, "are you sure? It's been out for a while." I inquired about how long, and they said over two hours. AT THAT POINT, WHY IS IT STILL SITTING ON THE COUNTER AND BEING OFFERED TO CUSTOMERS?! SO NOT SAFE! So I declined that food & just waited for my order, which was taking a long time. When my third & final entree was completed, the guy at the register pointed out that they used the wrong kind of chicken & slid it back to a woman in the prep area. However, I had already been waiting too long & said just let me take it as is. She hesitated while her friend was still chatting away at her so I busted out my fluent Spanish to say, I don't have time to wait for you to fix the mistake because you were too busy chatting with your friends. The guy was apologizing but I told him he didn't have to apologize since he wasn't the one that messed up the order. Maybe that (assistant?) manager needed to spend less time in the back and more time clearing counters of old food and redirecting employees.

Oh man when I say this has to be in my top 5 BBH restaurants of all time, I mean it!…read more We recently went on our anniversary trip to the PNW and I was looking for an authentic BBH place in Portland. You cannot take the Asian out of me, even if we visit the PNW, haha. I have to have my Vietnamese food fix. This restaurant caught my eye. The no-frills interior and the fact that I saw a ton of banana blossoms in other Yelpers' reviews was a dead giveaway that this place would be good. And boy was I right. It was a sweltering day when we went (apparently we visited during a heat wave), but that didn't stop us from eating there. The restaurant is located in a pretty ghetto part of Portland, but I didn't feel unsafe eating there. The swamp cooler was blasting and there was a Vietnamese soap opera playing. We were already set on ordering what they were known for, so we quickly placed our order. The owner was super nice and service was so attentive. He brought out iced teas for us as well. It didn't take very long for our hot bowls of BBH to arrive. First to our table were the freshest herbs and banana blossoms. I have never seen so many banana blossoms when ordering BBH in my life, it made me super happy to see them! Small side dishes of fish sauce with chilies were also served with our BBH, and I eagerly dug in. Everything was so good! The meats were tender and the pork knuckles were so fatty. The cha was also nice with a good spicy kick from the peppercorns. We ordered our BBH spicy and it was indeed spicy, as it should be. The pork blood was also salted and actually pretty flavorful! I ate my husband's pork blood cubes bc he didn't want them. I added the chili fish sauce to my broth and it definitely enhanced the flavor. I didn't bother to ask about adding shrimp paste as I generally do because I enjoyed the clean flavor of the broth itself. I did, however, ask for more limes, since I enjoy having extra limes with my BBH. The noodles were a tad overcooked but not mushy, so that was fine. We briefly chatted with the owner when we were done, and he asked where we were from. When I told him I've had plenty of BBH in SJ but especially loved his version, he said he knew where that was and wholeheartedly thanked us for visiting his restaurant! I'm so happy I was able to find a hidden gem for my BBH fix during our time in Portland, and will definitely make a special trip to return every time we visit the PNW!
