I haven't eaten inside the restaurant, but I made an order to-go of Chicken Pad Thai and it was tasty. When I ordered the Pad Thai over the phone I asked for medium spice, yet the Pad Thai itself had no spice at all. When picking up my order a staff member asked if I liked spicy though, and gave me an extra container of spicy sauce which was appreciated. The mint leaves were also a really nice touch that I don't often get with Pad Thai. My order was ready quickly, and the staff was pleasant. The restaurant was also pretty full which is always a good sign, but there was no music or ambient sound occurring which was somehow kind of eerie. Based on ambiance of the restaurant, I probably wouldn't dine-in but with the niceness of the staff and tastiness of the food, I would definitely order to-go again and recommend to others! read more

There is something magical about this place. This is our go-to place in Milwaukie. The food and service is always spot on, but even better is the cost. As most Vietnamese restaurants prices increase with the times, Pho Gia is still affordable. We go there with our grandchildren and we never worry about overspending. The food here has always been great, but the service could be better. I had a recently bad experience, They brought out my food before bringing my kids food. When they brought my kids food, they brought pad Thai and we ordered chicken yakisoba. We waited another 20 minutes, they never brought our correct order and my food got cold because I was waiting for my kids to get their food so we can eat together. Since the food never came I insisted on paying for my drinks and appetizers. They declined and asked me to leave very rudely which kind of made me sad because my family and I are regulars and never had a bad experience here. read more

Not sure if ownership/management has changed, but the food and service has suffered. We came in around 3pm and it was dead otherwise than a couple people at the bar. Menus were quick to come but service was very slow after that. The woman server gave water, disappeared for 10 minutes, then came over and curtly asked "what you get?". Thankfully we knew our drink and food order by then because we didn't see her again for a long time. Food took 40 minutes to arrive despite it being so slow. My husband's pho broth was flavorless. He added enough hoisin and sriracha that you'd think it would help- but it didn't! There were also large chunks of gristle/inedible beef fat. When I brought it to the male server than was sticking boxes near us, he said he would talk to our original server. She can over and said "you don't like that?" Making an exaggerated shocked face and walked away, never to be seen again. My yakisoba was just ok, mostly noodles with a very runny sauce. Very few vegetables. We took all of our food to go, not wanting to be there any longer. Went right to the trash. We will not be back. read more

I come here all the time for take out and the fact that it's very good for the affordable price! I typically get their pho which is consistently good. When it's hot out, I go for the pork and shrimp vermicelli bowl which is also super good with great fresh herbs. I'd eat the seafood yaki udon was very light on seafood though. read more

They offer small large and jumbo size bowls Service was fast and waiters check up on you often if you need anything . They have chili oil that's so good and actually spicy which I love. What a treat to discover this little gem. The restaurant had a few tables with families enjoying their dinner. I was greeted by a very nice lady, she sat me at a comfortable table, gave me a menu and a water. I decided upon the ramen noodle pho with chicken, and the Vietnamese egg rolls as an appetizer. I ordered food over the phone and my brother picked it up. Ordering was easy and smooth. Homie had an accent but still seamless. Once the food got to my house it obviously wasn't as hot but everything was still fire. The coconut shrimp was AMAZING and so was the thai tea. The main dish was exceptionally flavored and came with a delightful topping of chopped peanuts. I believe there's some citrus flavoring used which went really with the pork and shrimp. Absolutely 5 stars! The lady who helped me place a to go order was so sweet and helpful. I let her know my daughter wasn't feeling well and tripe pho is her favorite and she hooked me up. Daughter is super happy with the pho and said it's the best. The broth is so flavorful and perfectly seasoned. They give good portion sizes with tons of toppings and a lot of meat. We've been back here several, several, times. The service really is hit and miss. Some days it takes a very long time to get food and even drink refills but the food is always served hot and is very good. We've tried many dishes on the menu. My husband's favorite is always the pho but mine is the garlic chicken entree. The fried egg rolls are also fantastic. It's a very large dining room with tons of seating and space. We rarely get seated right next to another occupied table. It always appears clean and well organized. The staff is always friendly and we're generally seated immediately. As I said before, it's hit and miss. Sometimes we'll get drink refills and a check in from our server, other times we don't see them again until they bring the bill or we flag them down. Been coming here for years and I got some of the worst service last night. Went in there to order pho, wanted to get the biggest bowl so I could have left overs. Instantly was judged by the waiter. The waiter then told me I ordered a lot of food which was the bowl of pho and salad rolls. I went to go pay and handed him an extra 20 for change to tip. Ended up never coming back with my change and when I went up to ask he brought the 20 out of his pocket really quick and gave it to me. Don't pocket someone's money when they ask for change and even that never assume the extra money was for you. As someone who has been a waitress and bartender it made me upset. Overall this was the worst experience I've had here from the many times I have been to this restaurant. read more

Met my aunt and uncle for a meal at about 6:30. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. Took about 10 minutes to get our order in to the waiter. I ordered a drink along with my uncle. We hadn't seen each other for a while and sat visiting, until my uncle said he was really hungry. At that time, about 45 minutes had passed. My aunt tried to find our waiter, and told him we wondered where our order was. No drinks were sent to our table, and our waiter never came by. We were told our order was coming, but it wasn't. Because the waiter didn't put in our order. He later said he had to take a call and forgot. We didn't get our food until after 8. No apology from anyone at the restaurant. read more

We specifically go out of our way to eat here. Mostly to-go, but absolutely worth the drive. The broth they make for the Pho is so flavorful and it's hard to find that. The portions are large too. We've tried a variety of items and it's always above average. A couple times I've had to sit at the counter bar area to wait while our order is being bagged up for pick up and I could see right into the kitchen. Let me tell you, it's spotless. This is a humble restaurant, but the staff are kind and the food is great. I've had some excellent pho in Asian hotspots like Los Angeles and San Francisco. I've also had many not-so-great bowls in Portland! Though I'm not a traditionalist, but I do care about quality. So I was hesitant to try another place. However, I was very pleasantly surprised with the broth we had here! It was full of depth, while also not being overly rich or strong. The usual vegetables were fresh and crunchy. Together, it wasn't overly spiced but tangy and warming. We also ordered a vegetarian broth for our vegan roommate who said it was the best she's ever had! Thank you Pho Gia!
